The effect of rectified and modulated sine forces on the onset of horseshoe chaos is studied both analytically and numerically
in the Duffing oscillator. With single force analytical threshold condition for the onset of horseshoe chaos is obtained using
the Melnikov method. The Melnikov threshold curve is drawn in a parameter space. For the rectified sine wave, onset of cross-well
asymptotic chaos is observed just above the Melnikov threshold curve. For the modulus of sine wave long time transient motion
followed by a periodic attractor is realized. The possibility of controlling of chaos by the addition of second modulated
force is then analyzed. Parametric regimes where suppression of horseshoe chaos occurs are predicted analytically and verified
numerically. Interestingly, suppression of chaos is found in the parametric regimes where the Melnikov function does not change

The Fréedericksz transition in dispersions of liquid-crystal droplets is studied analytically by balancing the electrostatic energy of the droplets with a strong anchoring elastic energy. Explicit dependence of the transition threshold field on the liquid-crystal volume fraction and the spatial arrangement of the droplets is obtained for the first time. As a result of the confined geometry, this threshold field does not depend on the thickness of the sample and splitting of the transition occurs in some situations. 相似文献

For wide-aperture interferometers filled with a medium with threshold nonlinearity and excited by external radiation, the transverse profile of the field of localized structures in the form of solitons and dissitons is found when taking spatial filtering into account. 空间外差光谱仪是一种新式的超高分辨率光谱仪,可用于大气监测、卫星遥感等领域。为了减少空间外差光谱信号中的噪声,提出基于提升小波变换结合中值滤波方法来实现信号的降噪。改进的提升小波变换融合了一种双因子的阈值函数、分层阈值选取。与小波变换的软、硬阈值对比发现,它能提取空间外差光谱,减小峰宽和保留重要的细节特征,降噪效果优于小波变换的软、硬阈值法。最后用信噪比和均方误差两项定量指标来衡量算法的效果。实验结果表明:该算法比软阈值法在处理氙灯和积分球时信噪比提高了24.6%和31%,均方误差减少了43.2%和51.5%;与硬阈值法相比信噪比提高了21.5%和30.6%,均方误差减少了40.2%和51.2%。因此,算法在空间外差光谱降噪方面具有可行性。 相似文献

For the original verification method of screen spatial location parameters of sky screen target is complex and low efficiency, the new verification device without disassembly the sky screen target is designed in this paper. The stroboscopic light sources including the LED, collimating lens, frosted glass and small aperture are designed, and the datum plane is precisely established. By setting the threshold method of oscilloscope, the translation stage moving distance relative to the datum plane are recorded, when the amplitude of the output signal of the sky screen target just reaches the preset threshold value. According to the formula, the screen spatial location parameters of sky screen target are achieved. Experimental results show that the calibration accuracy of screen surface space position parameters is better than ±1′, which is consistent with the theoretical error analysis. This verification device makes up for original verification deficiencies of disassembly sky screen target, saves test time, increases the verification efficiency of sky screen target, and has a broad range market demand. 相似文献

We study analytically the steady-state regime of a network of n error-prone self-replicating templates forming an asymmetric hypercycle and its error tail. We show that the existence of a master template with a higher noncatalyzed self-replicative productivity a than the error tail ensures the stability of chains in which m < n-1 templates coexist with the master species. The stability of these chains against the error tail is guaranteed for catalytic coupling strengths K on the order of a. We find that the hypercycle becomes more stable than the chains only if K is on the order of a2. Furthermore, we show that the minimal replication accuracy per template needed to maintain the hypercycle, the so-called error threshold, vanishes as square root of n/K for large K and N < or = 4. 相似文献

We study the unexpected disappearance of stable homoclinic orbits in regions of parameter space in a neural field model with one spatial dimension. The usual approach of using numerical continuation techniques and local bifurcation theory is insufficient to explain the qualitative change in the model’s behaviour. The lack of robustness of the model to small perturbations in parameters is surprising, and the phenomenon may be of broader significance than just our model. By exploiting the Hamiltonian structure of the time-independent system, we develop a numerical technique with which we discover that a small, separate solution curve exists for a range of parameter values. As the firing rate function steepens, the small curve causes the main curve to break and stable homoclinic orbits are destroyed in a region of parameter space. Numerically, we use level set analysis to find that a codimension-one heteroclinic bifurcation occurs at the terminating ends of the solution curves. By replacing the firing rate function with a step function, we show analytically that the bifurcation is related to the value of the firing threshold. We also show the existence of heteroclinic orbits at the breakpoints using a travelling front analysis in the time-dependent system. 相似文献

Thermodynamics governing the synthesis of DNA and RNA strands under a template is considered analytically and applied to the population dynamics of competing replicators. We find a nonequilibrium phase transition for high values of polymerase fidelity in a single replicator, where the two phases correspond to stationary states with higher elongation velocity and lower error rate than the other. At the critical point, the susceptibility linking velocity to thermodynamic force diverges. The overall behavior closely resembles the liquid-vapor phase transition in equilibrium. For a population of self-replicating macromolecules, Eigen's error catastrophe transition precedes this thermodynamic phase transition during starvation. For a given thermodynamic force, the fitness of replicators increases with increasing polymerase fidelity above a threshold. 相似文献

We present the first observation of incoherent antidark spatial solitons in noninstantaneous nonlinear media. This new class of soliton states involves bright solitons on a partially incoherent background of infinite extent. In the case where the nonlinearity is of the Kerr type, their existence is demonstrated analytically by means of an exact solution. Computer simulations and experiments indicate that these incoherent antidark solitons can propagate in a stable fashion provided that the spatial coherence of their background is reduced below the incoherent modulation instability threshold. 相似文献

In this communication, a theoretical framework for quality control and parameter optimization in diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is presented and validated. The approach is based on the analytical error propagation of the mean diffusivity (D(av)) obtained directly from the diffusion-weighted data acquired using rotationally invariant and uniformly distributed icosahedral encoding schemes. The error propagation of a recently described and validated cylindrical tensor model is further extrapolated to the spherical tensor case (diffusion anisotropy approximately 0) to relate analytically the precision error in fractional tensor anisotropy (FA) with the mean diffusion-to-noise ratio (DNR). The approach provided simple analytical and empirical quality control measures for optimization of diffusion parameter space in an isotropic medium that can be tested using widely available water phantoms. 相似文献

medium. The quantization of the electromagnetic field in such a
nonlinear absorptive dielectric is carried out for which the
material dielectric function is assumed as a separable variable about
the frequency and the space coordinate. The vacuum field
fluctuations for different spatial continuous variations of
dielectric function are numerically calculated, which shows that the

Parametric instability regions in the first spatial and temporal modes of cantilevered columns having longitudinal inertia and end mass have been determined experimentally and analytically in the parametric space. Experiments have been conducted with three different columns, each having a set of five end masses. Analytical investigation has been carried out using small deflection beam theory. Under certain assumptions, the governing differential equation reduces to a modified Mathieu-Hill type equation, which gives the stability criteria. Calculation of the pressure field from transducers with both a convex and a concave surface geometry is a complicated assignment that often is accomplished by subdividing the transducer surface into smaller flat elements of which the spatial impulse response is known. This method is often applied to curved transducers because an analytical solution is unknown. In this work a semi-analytical algorithm for the exact solution to a first order in diffraction effect of the spatial impulse response of rectangular-shaped double curved transducers is presented. The solution and an approximation to it are investigated. The approximation reformulates the solution to an analytically integrable expression, which is computationally efficient to solve. Simulation results are compared to FIELD II simulations. Calculating the response from 200 different points yields a mean error for the different approximations ranging from 0.03% to 0.8% relative to a numerical solution for the spatial impulse response. It is also shown that the presented algorithm gives consistent results with FIELD II for a linear flat, a linear focused, and a convex nonfocused element. The solution involved a three-point Taylor expansion and gave an accuracy of 0.01%. 相似文献

The work studies wave activity in spatial systems, which exhibit nonlocal spatial interactions at the presence of a finite propagation speed. We find analytically propagation delay-induced oscillatory instabilities for various local excitatory and lateral inhibitory spatial interactions. Further, the work shows for general nonlocal interactions analytically that the first kernel Fourier moment defines the stability thresholds. The influence of a population of randomly oriented cracks on the macroscopic thermal and linear-elastic response of a hexagonal polycrystal is addressed using a self-consistent method. Coupling between micro-cracks and crystal anisotropy is taken into account through the effective medium where all inhomogeneities are embedded. In the absence of cracks, the proposed approach reduces to the self-consistent estimate of Berryman (2005). The accuracy of the present method is first assessed using numerical, Fourier-based computations. In the absence of crystal anisotropy, the estimates for the effective elastic properties are close to that obtained numerically for a homogeneous body containing disk-shaped cracks, with Boolean spatial dispersion. Various other analytical estimates and bounds, that are available for homogeneous cracked bodies, are also considered and compared to the present approach. Second, the combined role of crystal anisotropy and micro-cracks is investigated analytically, specifically when the in-plane shear modulus of the crystal becomes zero. The cracks-density percolation threshold is found to diminish abruptly in this limit. This ‘advanced’ percolation threshold is concomitant to the onset of large, weakly loaded regions surrounding cracks in strongly anisotropic crystals. 相似文献

In medical Doppler ultrasound systems, a high-pass filter which is usually employed to filter wall clutter components, will remove the information of the low velocity blood flow. To extract intact Doppler ultrasound blood signals, a novel approach is proposed based on the spatially selective noise filtration. The wall signals are firstly estimated by the spatially selective noise filtration from wavelet spatial correlation property. Then the wall clutters are exactly obtained by a wavelet threshold de-noising technique which eliminates the residual blood flow signals. Finally the intact blood flow signals are achieved by subtracting the wall signals from the mixed signals. This approach is applied to both computer simulated and in vivo carotid Doppler ultrasound signals. The experiment results show that the wavelet space based approach can exactly extract the blood flow signals, and achieve about 45% lower results in the mean absolute error than that of the high-pass filtering. This approach is expected to be an effective method to remove the wall clutters in Doppler ultrasound systems. 相似文献

A rigorous, fast and efficient method is proposed for analytical extraction of guided defect modes in two-dimensional photonic crystals, where each Bloch spatial harmonic is expanded in terms of Hermite-Gauss functions. This expansion, after being substituted in Maxwell’s equations, is analytically projected in the Hilbert space spanned by the Hermite-Gauss basis functions, and then a new set of first order coupled linear ordinary differential equations with non-constant coefficients is obtained. This set of equations is solved by employing successive differential transfer matrices, whereupon defect modes, i.e. the guided modes propagating in the straight line-defect photonic crystal waveguides and coupled resonator optical waveguides, are analytically derived. In this fashion, the governing differential equations are converted into an algebraic and easy to solve matrix eigenvalue problem. Thanks to the analyticity of the proposed approach, the eigenmodes of these structures can be extracted very quickly. The validity of the obtained results is however justified by comparing them to those derived by using the standard finite-difference time-domain method. 相似文献
