Many materials have been tried as the counter electrode (CE) material as a substitute to the noble metal Pt in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The CE property is critical to the operation of a DSSC as it catalyzes the reduction of I3- ions and retrieves the electrons from the photoanode. Here we have explored the application of manganese dioxide (MnO2) and copper-doped manganese dioxide (Cu-MnO2) nanoparticles as CE candidates for DSSCs mainly as low-cost alternatives to Pt. A simple hydrothermal method was followed to synthesize α-MnO2 and Cu-MnO2 nanoparticles at a temperature of 140 °C for 14 h. The nanoparticles were characterized to prove its electrocatalytic abilities for DSSCs. DSSC devices fabricated with 10 wt% Cu-MnO2 as CE showed the best VOC of 781 mV, ISC of 3.69 mA/cm2, FF of 0.50, and %PCE of 1.7 whereas Pt as CE showed VOC of 780 mV, ISC of 14.8 mA/cm2, FF of 0.43, and %PCE of 5.83 under 0.85 Sun. The low-cost feature of using Cu-MnO2 is encouraging to further study the factors that can improve the efficiency of DSSCs with alternative CEs to conventional Pt electrodes.  相似文献

Recombining the advantages on photovoltaic parameters of two binary-organic photovoltaics (OPVs) into one ternary cell is an efficient strategy for selecting materials, in addition to the absorption spectra complementary among the used materials. The binary-OPVs with J71:BTP-4F-12 exhibit a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 11.70%, along with a short-circuit-current-density (JSC) of 23.61 mA cm−2, an open-circuit-voltage (VOC) of 0.841 V and a fill factor (FF) of 58.99%. Although the relatively low PCE of 10.92% and JSC of 16.59 mA cm−2 are achieved in J71:ITIC-based binary-OPVs, the VOC of 0.935 V and FF of 70.40% are impressive compared with J71:BTP-4F-12-based OPVs. Optimal ternary-OPVs are achieved with J71:BTP-4F-12:ITIC as active layers by weight ratio of 1:0.48:0.72, delivering a markedly increased PCE of 13.05% with a VOC of 0.903 V, a JSC of 21.27 mA cm−2 and a FF of 68.20%. An over 11.5% PCE improvement is obtained by recombining the advantages of binary-OPVs into ternary-OPVs with ITIC as photon harvesting reinforcing agent and morphology regulator. The good compatibility between BTP-4F-12 and ITIC provides large room to well optimize their relative content for achieving the well balanced three key photovoltaic parameters of ternary-OPVs.  相似文献

In dye-sensitized solar cell, modulating the electronic properties of the sensitizer by varying the donor, π-spacer, acceptor and anchoring groups help optimizing the structure of the dye for better device performance. Here, a donor–acceptor–donor-based unsymmetrical thiosquaraine sensitizer ( SQ5S ) has been designed and synthesized. Photophysical, electrochemical, theoretical and photovoltaic characterizations of SQ5S dye have been compared with its oxygen analog, SQ5 . The incorporation of the sulfur atom in the acceptor unit of SQ5S dye showed an intense peak at 688 nm, which was 38 nm of red-shifted and showed the panchromatic light harvesting response with the onset of 850 nm compared with SQ5 dye. The LUMO and HOMO energy levels are well aligned with the conduction band of TiO2 and the redox potential of electrolyte for the charge injection and the dye-regeneration processes, respectively. Photovoltaic efficiency of 1.51% (VOC 610 mV, JSC 3.07 mA cm−2, ff 81%) has been achieved for SQ5S dye, whereas SQ5 showed the device performance of 5.43% (VOC 723 mV, JSC 9.3 mA cm−2, ff 80%). The decreased device performance for the dye SQ5S has been attributed to the favorable intersystem crossing process associated with the photoexcited SQ5S that reduces the driving force for the charge injection process.  相似文献

A photoelectrochemical (PEC) cell consisting of an n‐type CdS single‐crystal electrode and a Pt counter electrode with the ruthenium–2,2′‐bipyridine complex [Ru(bpy)3]2+/3+ as the redox shuttle in a non‐aqueous electrolyte was studied to obtain a higher open‐circuit voltage (VOC) than the onset voltage for water splitting. A VOC of 1.48 V and a short‐circuit current (ISC) of 3.88 mA cm?2 were obtained under irradiation by a 300 W Xe lamp with 420–800 nm visible light. This relatively high voltage was presumably due to the difference between the Fermi level of photo‐irradiated n‐type CdS and the redox potential of the Ru complex at the Pt electrode. The smooth redox reaction of the Ru complex with one‐electron transfer was thought to have contributed to the high VOC and ISC. The obtained VOC was more than the onset voltage of water electrolysis for hydrogen and oxygen generation, suggesting prospects for application in water electrolysis.  相似文献

Panchromatic RuII sensitizers TF‐30–TF‐33 bearing a new class of 6‐quinolin‐8‐yl‐2,2′‐bipyridine anchor were synthesized and tested under AM1.5 G simulated solar irradiation. Their increased π conjugation relative to that of the traditional 2,2′:6′,2′′‐terpyridine‐based anchor led to a remarkable improvement in absorptivity across the whole UV–Vis–NIR spectral regime. Furthermore, the introduction of a bulky tert‐butyl substituent on the quinolinyl fragment not only led to an increase in the JSC value owing to the suppression of dye aggregation, but remarkably also resulted in no loss in VOC in comparison with the reference sensitizer containing a tricarboxyterpyridine anchor. The champion sensitizer in DSC devices was found to be TF‐32 with a performance of JSC=19.2 mA cm?2, VOC=740 mV, FF=0.72, and η=10.19 %. This 6‐quinolin‐8‐yl‐2,2′‐bipyridine anchor thus serves as a prototype for the next generation of RuII sensitizers with any tridentate ancillary.  相似文献

Three novel dyes of JJ1 , JJ2 , and JJ6 featured zinc porphyrin as a basic core structure; N, N‐alkyl‐4‐(prop‐1‐yn‐1‐yl)aniline as an electron donor linked to meso‐10‐position; 4‐(prop‐1‐yn‐1‐yl)benzoic acid as an electron acceptor linked to meso‐20‐position; and 2,6‐bis(dodecyloxy)phenyl or 2,6‐bis(octyloxy)phenyl respectively linked to meso‐5 and meso‐15‐positions of zinc porphyrin have been synthesized and used for dye‐sensitized solar cells. Porphyrin JJ6 featured the shortest alkyl group (─C4H9) on the donor, whereas JJ2 contained the longest alkyl groups (─C12H25), and JJ1 has a medium length of octyl groups. With these new porphyrin sensitizers, we observed that JJ6 has 7.55% power conversion efficiency under simulated one‐sun illumination (AM 1.5 G, 100 mW/cm2) with JSC = 18.64 mA/cm2, VOC = 0.66 V, and fill factor (FF) = 0.61, which was higher than the other two; JJ1 (7.35%) with JSC = 18.83 mA/cm2, VOC = 0.68 V, and FF = 0.60; and JJ2 (6.33%) with JSC = 15.69 mA/cm2, VOC = 0.62 V, and FF = 0.65. The power conversion efficiency of JJ6 and JJ1 were higher than JJ2 , demonstrating that the lengthy alkyl groups on the aniline cause a decrease in efficiency of the devices.  相似文献

Subporphyrinatoboron(III) (SubB) sensitizers were synthesized for use in dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The prototype, which comprises a sterically demanding 3,5‐di‐tert‐butylphenyl scaffold, a meso‐ethynylphenyl spacer, and a cyanoacrylic acid anchoring group, achieved an open‐circuit voltage VOC of 836 mV, short‐circuit current density JSC of 15.3 mA cm?2, fill factor of 0.786, and a photon‐to‐current conversion efficiency of 10.1 %. Such astonishing figures suggest that a bright future lies ahead for SubB in the realm of DSSCs.  相似文献

In this work, high‐performance dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) based on new low‐cost visible nickel complex dye (VisDye), TiO2 nanoparticle/nanotube composites electrodes, carbon nanoparticles counter electrodes, and ionic liquids electrolytes have been fabricated. The electronic structure, optical spectroscopy, and electrochemical properties of the VisDye were studied. Experimental results indicate that it is beneficial to improve the electron transport and power conversion efficiency using the nickel complex VisDye and TiO2 nanoparticle/nanotube composites. Under optimized conditions, the solar energy conversion efficiencies were measured. The short‐circuit current density (JSC), the open‐circuit voltage (VOC), the fill factor (FF), and the overall efficiency (η) of the DSSCs are 10.01 mA/cm2, 516 mV, 0.68, and 3.52%, respectively. This study demonstrates that the combination of new VisDye with TiO2 nanoparticle/nanotube composites electrodes and carbon nanoparticles counter electrodes provide a way to fabricate highly efficient dye‐sensitized solar cells in low‐cost production.  相似文献

The preparation of CdSe nanospheres (ns-CdSe) and their application as electron acceptor in conjugated polymer photovoltaic devices are reported. ns-CdSe with diameters of 5 nm were prepared through an organometallic method. The transmission electron microscopy (TEM), ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) absorption and photoluminescence (PL) spectra indicate that the CdSe nanocrystals (NCs) are monodispersed nanospheres with the first exciton absorption peak at around 625 nm and the emission peak at around 652 nm. The PL spectra of the ns-CdSe/polymer composite films show that the PL of the conjugated polymers is effectively quenched upon the addition of ns-CdSe. Photovoltaic devices were fabricated from the composites of ns-CdSe and poly[2-methoxy-5-(2′-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene] (MEH-PPV) or poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT). Under AM1.5 illumination (100 mW/cm2), the short circuit current (I SC), open circuit voltage (V OC), fill factor (FF) and energy conversion efficiency (η) reached 1.56 mA/cm2, 0.75 V, 34.5% and 0.40%, respectively for device from the ns-CdSe/MEH-PPV (15: 1 by weight) and 1.93 mA/cm2, 0.65 V, 38.4% and 0.48%, respectively for device from the ns-CdSe/P3HT (10: 1 by weight). __________ Translated from Chemical Journal of Chinese Universities, 2007, 28(3): 596–599 [译自: 高等学校化学学报]  相似文献

Ti/MCM‐41 is a well‐known heterogeneous catalyst for alkene epoxidation with organic peroxides. This titanosilicate contains isolated titanium atoms forming part of a framework of mesoporous silica whose structure is formed by parallel hexagonal channels 3.2 nm in diameter. The surface area and porosity of Ti/MCM‐41 are about 880 m2 g?1 and 0.70 cm3 g?1, respectively. These values are among the highest for any material. Herein, we show that Ti/MCM‐41 exhibits photovoltaic activity. Dye‐sensitized solar cells using mesoporous Ti/MCM‐41 (2.8–5.7 % Ti content) as active layer, black dye N3 as photosensitizer and I3?/I? in methoxyacetonitrile as electrolyte exhibit a VOC, JSC and FF of 0.44 V, 0.045 mA cm?2 and 0.33, respectively. These values compare well against 0.75 V, 4.1 mA cm?2 and 0.64, respectively, measured for analogous solar cells using conventional P‐25 TiO2. However, the specific current density (JSC/Ti atom) for the Ti/MCM‐41 is very similar to that of P25 TiO2.  相似文献

We have designed and synthesised novel zinc porphyrin dyes that have a D-π-A system based on porphyrin derivatives containing a carbazole linked triphenylamine (TPA) electron-donating group as the second electron donor and a meso-substituted phenyl carboxyl anchoring group attached at the meso position of the porphyrin ring, yielding push-pull porphyrins as the most efficient green dye for DSSC applications. Under photovoltaic performance measurements, a maximum photon-to-electron conversion efficiency of 5.01% was achieved with the DSSC based on the dye HKK-Por1 (JSC = 10.7 mA/cm2, VOC = 0.67 V, FF = 0.70) under AM1.5 irradiation (100 mW/cm2).  相似文献

A series of new organic dyes, comprising indenofluorene moiety as a conjugated bridge, with an extended π-groups, such as thiophene and furan, diphenylamine as donor, cyanoacrylic acid group as an electron acceptor and anchoring group, have been synthesized. Photophysical and electrochemical measurements, and theoretical computation were carried out on these dyes. Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) using these dyes as the sensitizers exhibited photocurrent density (JSC), open-circuit voltage (VOC), and fill factor (FF) in the range of 6.95–8.20 mA/cm2, 0.70–0.71 V, and 0.69–0.71, respectively, corresponding to an overall conversion efficiency of 3.36–4.05%. The best efficiency reached 56% of the standard cell based on N719.  相似文献

Diverse fused thiophenes with electron-rich and electron-deficient blocks have been synthesized and employed as the π-conjugated spacers of organic dyes for the dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The effects of these fused thiophenes were investigated by their absorption spectra, electrochemical and photovoltaic properties. For a typical device a maximum power conversion efficiency of 6.11% was obtained under simulated AM 1.5 irradiation (100 mW cm?2): a short-circuit current (JSC) of 14.47 mA cm?2, an open-circuit voltage (VOC) of 670 mV, and a fill factor (FF) of 0.63.  相似文献

The conventional unstable and expensive hole transporting materials (HTM) has been replaced by cost effective modified carbon hole extraction layer. Herein, we demonstrated a new recipe toward air stable and waterproof modified carbon hole extraction layer for efficient perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The commercial available carbon ink modified with methylammonium lead iodide (MAI) has been used as hole extraction layer for ambipolar perovskite solar cells. The fabricated optimized perovskite solar cell having Glass/FTO/mp-TiO2/MAPbI3-xClx/carbon + MAI/Carbon configuration exhibited η = 13.87% power conversion efficiency (PCE) with open circuit voltage (VOC) 0.997 V, current density (JSC) = 21.41 mAcm?2 and fill factor (FF) 0.65. Furthermore, the air stability were tested at room temperature in open atmosphere. The water proof stability was tested under water flushing. Our results revealed that, although our carbon based devices show lower PCE (η = 13.87%) compared to spiro-MeOTAD HTM (η = 15%), the fabricated PSCs could even retain >90% after water exposure >20 times and ambient air stability more than 160 days. Further the large area device (>1 cm2) device shows 13.04% PCE with Jsc = 21.47 mAcm?2, VOC = 0.996 V and FF = 0.61. We have also demonstrated >13% efficiency for large area device (>1.1 cm2), demonstrating that the developed method is simple, cost effective and promising towards large area device fabrication. The developed methodology based on low cost carbon hole extraction layer will be helpful towards waterproof and air stable perovskite solar cells for large-area devices.  相似文献

To increase the open circuit voltage (VOC) of polymer solar cells (PSCs) based on polythiophene, two new ester group functionalized polythiophene derivatives, PCTDT and PCTBDT, were designed and synthesized via alternating copolymerization of thiophene‐3‐carboxylate (CT) with the 2,2′‐bithiophene (DT) and benzodithiophene (BDT) units, respectively. The resulting copolymers exhibited broad and strong absorptions in the visible region, which was similar to that of the commonly used poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT). Through cyclic voltammetry measurements, it was found that both copolymers showed lower HOMO energy levels (−5.27 eV for PCTDT and −5.36 eV for PCTBDT) than that of P3HT (−5.03 eV), indicating that the HOMO energy level could be efficiently reduced by introducing the ester group into the polymer side chain. Photovoltaic properties of the copolymers blended with [6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) as electron acceptor were investigated. The obtained two devices possessed both relatively large short circuit current (ISC) and higher VOC than that of P3HT:PCBM blend. For PCTBDT:PCBM blend, a power conversion efficiency (PCE) up to 2.32%, an ISC of 6.94 mA · cm−2, and a VOC of 0.80 V were observed while PCTDT:PCBM system demonstrated a PCE of 1.75% with a VOC of 0.68 V.

In this study, we used ytterbium (Yb2+) as a dopant in the CsPbI2Br inorganic perovskite thin film and stabilized its black phase. Here, we varied the Yb2+ doping concentration in the CsPb1?xYbxI2Br (x = 0–0.04) perovskite phase through simple solution method. The optimum concentration of Yb2+ showed improved morphology and crystal growth. The fabricated all-inorganic perovskite solar cells (IPVSCs) having CsPb0.97Yb0.03I2Br-based champion device showed the highest 15.41% power conversion efficiency (PCE) for a small area of 0.09 cm2 and 14.04% PCE for a large area of 1 × 1 cm2 with excellent reproducibility, which is higher than the controlled CsPbI2Br device. Detailed photovoltaic analysis revealed that the PCE, open-circuit voltage (VOC), short circuit current density (JSC) and fill factor (FF) of the final IPVSC device attributed to the suppressed charge recombination, better film quality, and well growth orientation of the perovskite film. Moreover, the champion CsPb0.97Yb0.03I2Br device retains >85% initial efficiency after 280 h under 85 °C thermal annealings. Our results provide a new method to boost the performance of the photovoltaic application.  相似文献

New hemicyanine dyes ( CM101 , CM102 , CM103 , and CM104 ) in which tetrahydroquinoline derivatives are used as electron donors and N‐(carboxymethyl)‐pyridinium is used as an electron acceptor and anchoring group were designed and synthesized for dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Compared with corresponding dyes that have cyanoacetic acid as the acceptor, N‐(carboxymethyl)‐pyridinium has a stronger electron‐withdrawing ability, which causes the absorption maximum of dyes to be redshifted. The photovoltaic performance of the DSSCs based on dyes CM101 – CM104 markedly depends on the molecular structures of the dyes in terms of the n‐hexyl chains and methoxyl. The device sensitized by dye CM104 achieved the best conversion efficiency of 7.0 % (Jsc=13.4 mA cm?2, Voc=704 mV, FF=74.8 %) under AM 1.5 irradiation (100 mW cm?2). In contrast, the device sensitized by reference dye CMR104 with the same donor but the cyanoacetic acid as the acceptor gave an efficiency of 3.4 % (Jsc=6.2 mA cm?2, Voc=730 mV, FF=74.8 %). Under the same conditions, the cell fabricated with N719 sensitized porous TiO2 exhibited an efficiency of 7.9 % (Jsc=15.4 mA cm?2, Voc=723 mV, FF=72.3 %). The dyes CM101 – CM104 show a broader spectral response compared with the reference dyes CMR101 – CMR104 and have high IPCE exceeding 90 % from 450 to 580 nm. Considering the reflection of sunlight, the photoelectric conversion efficiency could be almost 100 % during this region.  相似文献

Partially nanowire-structured TiO2 was prepared by a hydrothermal processing followed by calcination in air. The hydrogen titanate powder as-synthesized was calcined at 300 °C for 4 h to obtain the partially nanowire-structured TiO2. A dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) with a film thickness of 5.6 μm, fabricated using the partially nanowire-structured TiO2 showed better performance than using a fully nanowire-structured TiO2 or a conventional equi-axed TiO2 nanopowder. The short-circuit current density (JSC), the open-circuit voltage (VOC), the fill factor (FF) and the overall efficiency (η) are 11.9 mA/cm2, 0.754 V, 0.673 and 6.01 %, respectively. The effects of one-dimensional nanostructure and electron expressway concept are discussed.  相似文献

A novel dihydrophenazine-based organic di-anchoring dye DK-11 was synthesized by utilizing a simple synthetic protocol. The dye was characterized by optical and electrochemical studies and used as a sensitizer for dye-sensitized solar cell. The proposed butterfly structure was supported by IR experiments which ensured the binding of both carboxylic acid units on the semiconductor surface. Using the dye DK-11 , the device generated an efficiency of 5.07% with JSC, VOC, and FF values of 10.65 mA/cm2, 0.67 V, and 0.71, respectively.  相似文献
