In this paper we investigate the dynamics of relativistic (in particular, closed) strings moving in the Minkowski space . We first derive a system with n nonlinear wave equations of Born-Infeld type which governs the motion of the string. This system can also be used to describe the extremal surfaces in . We then show that this system enjoys some interesting geometric properties. Based on this, we give a sufficient and necessary condition for the global existence of extremal surfaces without space-like point in with given initial data. This result corresponds to the global propagation of nonlinear waves for the system describing the motion of the string in . We also present an explicit exact representation of the general solution for such a system. Moreover, a great deal of numerical analyses are investigated, and the numerical results show that, in phase space, various topological singularities develop in finite time in the motion of the string. Finally, some important discussions related to the theory of extremal surfaces of mixed type in are given.  相似文献

We construct infinitely many Einstein-Weyl structures on of signature (− + +) which is sufficiently close to the model case of constant curvature, and on which the space-like geodesics are all closed. Such a structure is obtained as a parameter space of a family of holomorphic disks which is associated to a small perturbation of the diagonal of . The geometry of constructed Einstein-Weyl spaces is well understood from the configuration of holomorphic disks. We also review Einstein-Weyl structures and their properties in the former half of this article. For convex co-compact hyperbolic quotients , we analyze the long-time asymptotic of the solution of the wave equation u(t) with smooth compactly supported initial data f = (f 0, f 1). We show that, if the Hausdorff dimension δ of the limit set is less than n/2, then where and . We explain, in terms of conformal theory of the conformal infinity of X, the special cases , where the leading asymptotic term vanishes. In a second part, we show for all the existence of an infinite number of resonances (and thus zeros of Selberg zeta function) in the strip . As a byproduct we obtain a lower bound on the remainder R(t) for generic initial data f.  相似文献

Let V be a vertex operator algebra satisfying certain reductivity and finiteness conditions such that , the category of V-modules, is a modular tensor category. We study open-closed field algebras over V equipped with nondegenerate invariant bilinear forms for both open and closed sectors. We show that they give algebras over a certain -extension of the so-called Swiss-cheese partial dioperad, and we can obtain Ishibashi states easily in such algebras. The Cardy condition can be formulated as an additional condition on such open-closed field algebras in terms of the action of the modular transformation on the space of intertwining operators of V. We then derive a graphical representation of S in the modular tensor category . This result enables us to give a categorical formulation of the Cardy condition and the modular invariance condition for 1-point correlation functions on the torus. Then we incorporate these two conditions and the axioms of the open-closed field algebra over V equipped with nondegenerate invariant bilinear forms into a tensor-categorical notion called the Cardy -algebra. In the end, we give a categorical construction of the Cardy -algebra in the Cardy case.  相似文献

For a (co)monad T l on a category , an object X in , and a functor , there is a (co)simplex in . The aim of this paper is to find criteria for para-(co)cyclicity of Z *. Our construction is built on a distributive law of T l with a second (co)monad T r on , a natural transformation , and a morphism in . The (symmetrical) relations i and w need to satisfy are categorical versions of Kaygun’s axioms of a transposition map. Motivation comes from the observation that a (co)ring T over an algebra R determines a distributive law of two (co)monads and on the category of R-bimodules. The functor Π can be chosen such that is the cyclic R-module tensor product. A natural transformation is given by the flip map and a morphism is constructed whenever T is a (co)module algebra or coring of an R-bialgebroid. The notion of a stable anti-Yetter-Drinfel’d module over certain bialgebroids, the so-called  ×  R -Hopf algebras, is introduced. In the particular example when T is a module coring of a  ×  R -Hopf algebra and X is a stable anti-Yetter-Drinfel’d -module, the para-cyclic object Z * is shown to project to a cyclic structure on . For a -Galois extension , a stable anti-Yetter-Drinfel’d -module T S is constructed, such that the cyclic objects and are isomorphic. This extends a theorem by Jara and Ştefan for Hopf Galois extensions. As an application, we compute Hochschild and cyclic homologies of a groupoid with coefficients in a stable anti-Yetter-Drinfel’d module, by tracing it back to the group case. In particular, we obtain explicit expressions for (coinciding relative and ordinary) Hochschild and cyclic homologies of a groupoid. The latter extends results of Burghelea on cyclic homology of groups.  相似文献

A Strong Szegő Theorem for Jacobi Matrices   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
We use a classical result of Golinskii and Ibragimov to prove an analog of the strong Szegő theorem for Jacobi matrices on . In particular, we consider the class of Jacobi matrices with conditionally summable parameter sequences and find necessary and sufficient conditions on the spectral measure such that and lie in , the linearly-weighted l 2 space. We define the twisted loop Lie algebra of a finite dimensional Lie algebra as the Fréchet space of all twisted periodic smooth mappings from to . Here the Lie algebra operation is continuous. We call such Lie algebras Fréchet Lie algebras. We introduce the notion of an integrable -gradation of a Fréchet Lie algebra, and find all inequivalent integrable -gradations with finite dimensional grading subspaces of twisted loop Lie algebras of complex simple Lie algebras. On leave of absence from the Institute for Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 117312 Moscow, Russia.  相似文献

Let (T, H) be a weak Weyl representation of the canonical commutation relation (CCR) with one degree of freedom. Namely T is a symmetric operator and H is a self-adjoint operator on a complex Hilbert space satisfying the weak Weyl relation: for all (the set of real numbers), eitH D(T) ⊂ D(T) (i is the imaginary unit and D(T) denotes the domain of T) and . In the context of quantum theory where H is a Hamiltonian, T is called a strong time operator of H. In this paper we prove the following theorem on uniqueness of weak Weyl representations: Let be separable. Assume that H is bounded below with and , where is the set of complex numbers and, for a linear operator A on a Hilbert space, σ(A) denotes the spectrum of A. Then ( is the closure of T) is unitarily equivalent to a direct sum of the weak Weyl representation on the Hilbert space , where is the multiplication operator by the variable and with . Using this theorem, we construct a Weyl representation of the CCR from the weak Weyl representation . We prove that there exists no self-similar finite time blowing up solution to the 3D incompressible Euler equations if the vorticity decays sufficiently fast near infinity in . By a similar method we also show nonexistence of self-similar blowing up solutions to the divergence-free transport equation in . This result has direct applications to the density dependent Euler equations, the Boussinesq system, and the quasi-geostrophic equations, for which we also show nonexistence of self-similar blowing up solutions. A -product is defined via a set of commuting vector fields , and used in a theory coupled to the fields. The -product is dynamical, and the vacuum solution , reproduces the usual Moyal product. The action is invariant under rigid translations and Lorentz rotations, and the conserved energy–momentum and angular momentum tensors are explicitly derived.   相似文献

I describe a functional integral for maps from to a Lie group or its quotient which has a simple renormalization that leads to a quantum field theory for maps from into the Lie group or its quotient whose Hamiltonian is the time translation generator for a unitary action of the n+1 dimensional Poincaré group on the quantum Hilbert space. I also explain how the renormalization provides a functional integral for maps from a Riemann surface to a compact Lie group or its quotient that exhibits many conformal field theoretic properties.Support in part by a grant from the National Science Foundation  相似文献

Corresponding to the wellposedness result [2] for the classical 3-D Navier-Stokes equations (NS ν) with initial data in the scaling invariant Besov space, here we consider a similar problem for the 3-D anisotropic Navier-Stokes equations (ANS ν), where the vertical viscosity is zero. In order to do so, we first introduce the Besov-Sobolev type spaces, and Then with initial data in the scaling invariant space we prove the global wellposedness for (ANS ν) provided the norm of initial data is small enough compared to the horizontal viscosity. In particular, this result implies the global wellposedness of (ANS ν) with high oscillatory initial data (1.2).  相似文献

We consider discrete nets in Grassmannians , which generalize Q-nets (maps with planar elementary quadrilaterals) and Darboux nets (-valued maps defined on the edges of such that quadruples of points corresponding to elementary squares are all collinear). We give a geometric proof of integrability (multidimensional consistency) of these novel nets, and show that they are analytically described by the noncommutative discrete Darboux system.   相似文献

We develop a novel approach to phase transitions in quantum spin models based on a relation to their classical counterparts. Explicitly, we show that whenever chessboard estimates can be used to prove a phase transition in the classical model, the corresponding quantum model will have a similar phase transition, provided the inverse temperature β and the magnitude of the quantum spins satisfy . From the quantum system we require that it is reflection positive and that it has a meaningful classical limit; the core technical estimate may be described as an extension of the Berezin-Lieb inequalities down to the level of matrix elements. The general theory is applied to prove phase transitions in various quantum spin systems with . The most notable examples are the quantum orbital-compass model on and the quantum 120-degree model on which are shown to exhibit symmetry breaking at low-temperatures despite the infinite degeneracy of their (classical) ground state.  相似文献

A quantum system of a Dirac particle interacting with the quantum radiation field is considered in the case where no external potentials exist. Then the total momentum of the system is conserved and the total Hamiltonian is unitarily equivalent to the direct integral of a family of self-adjoint operators acting in the Hilbert space , where is the Hilbert space of the quantum radiation field. The fiber operator is called the Hamiltonian of the Dirac polaron with total momentum . The main result of this paper is concerned with the non-relativistic (scaling) limit of . It is proven that the non-relativistic limit of yields a self-adjoint extension of a Hamiltonian of a polaron with spin 1/2 in non-relativistic quantum electrodynamics.  相似文献

Consider a Gaussian Entire Function
where are Gaussian i.i.d. complex random variables. The zero set of this function is distribution invariant with respect to the isometries of the complex plane. Let n(R) be the number of zeroes of f in the disk of radius R. It is easy to see that , and it is known that the variance of n(R) grows linearly with R (Forrester and Honner). We prove that, for every α > 1/2, the tail probability behaves as exp with some explicit piecewise linear function . For some special values of the parameter α, this law was found earlier by Sodin and Tsirelson, and by Krishnapur. In the context of charge fluctuations of a one-component Coulomb system of particles of one sign embedded into a uniform background of another sign, a similar law was discovered some time ago by Jancovici, Lebowitz and Manificat.
