A number of laboratories are currently developing monochromatic sources of X-rays and gamma quanta based on the Compton backscattering (CBS) of laser photons by relativistic electrons. Modern technologies are capable of providing a concentration of electrons and photons in the interaction point such that each primary electron can emit several hard photons. In contrast to the well-known nonlinear CBS process, in which an initial electron “absorbs” a few laser photons and emits a single hard one, the above-mentioned process can be called a multiple CBS process and is characterized by a mean number of emitted photons. The present paper is devoted to simulating the parameters of a beam of back scattered quanta based on the Monte Carlo technique. It is shown that, even in the case of strong collimation of a resulting photon beam, the radiation monochromaticity may deteriorate because of the contribution coming from the multiple photon emission, which is something that must be considered while designing new CBS sources.  相似文献

A double slit experiment has been performed in which the condition that only one slit was open at any instant of time was satisfied approximately. The intensity of the light was such that (a) the time between the detection of successive photons contributing to any fringe was much less than the transit time of the photons through the interferometer, and (b) the electro-optic shutters were switched several times between the detection of quanta. The light source used was a He-Ne laser and the modulation was obtained using a single ADP crystal. The theoretical background to the experimental method is given and the experimental results are shown.  相似文献

We study correlated two-photon transport in a (quasi-)one-dimensional photonic waveguide coupled to a three-level Λ-type emitter driven by a classical light field. Two-photon correlation is much stronger in the waveguide for a driven three-level emitter (3LE) than a two-level emitter. The driven 3LE waveguide shows electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT), and we investigate the scaling of EIT for one and two photons. We show that the two transmitted photons are bunched together at any distance separation when energy of the incident photons meets "two-photon resonance" criterion for EIT.  相似文献

We report the first results of the GammeV experiment, a search for milli-eV mass particles with axionlike couplings to two photons. The search is performed using a "light shining through a wall" technique where incident photons oscillate into new weakly interacting particles that are able to pass through the wall and subsequently regenerate back into detectable photons. The oscillation baseline of the apparatus is variable, thus allowing probes of different values of particle mass. We find no excess of events above background and are able to constrain the two-photon couplings of possible new scalar (pseudoscalar) particles to be less than 3.1x10;(-7) GeV-1 (3.5x10;(-7) GeV-1) in the limit of massless particles.  相似文献

采用磁控溅射方法在Si(111)基片上制备金属锰膜,用椭圆偏振光谱在入射光子能量为2.0–4.0 eV范围内研究了溅射功率对薄膜光学性质的影响. 利用德鲁得-洛伦兹色散模型对椭偏数据进行拟合,结果表明在测量范围内随溅射功率增加薄膜的折射率减小;消光系数随入射光子能量增加先增加后减小,在3.0 eV附近处出现极大值,并且极大值所处的位置随溅射功率增加而向低能方向移动,这主要与溅射沉积的锰薄膜的质量有关,且随溅射功率的增加薄膜的消光系数逐渐趋近于金属锰的数值. 研究结果还表明溅射功率的增加减少了薄膜中的空隙,有利于薄膜的生长. 关键词: 磁控溅射 金属锰膜 椭圆偏振光谱 德鲁得-洛伦兹色散模型  相似文献

Cherenkov radiation from electron-positron pairs produced by hard γ photons is considered. The radiation yield is shown to be suppressed when the distance between an electron and a positron is less than the wavelength. This effect depends on the γ-photon energy and radiation intensity.  相似文献

Multilevel quantum coherence and its quantum‐vacuum counterpart, where a three‐level dark state is involved, are suggested in order to achieve new photonic and quantum optical applications. It is shown that such a three‐level dark state in a four‐level tripod‐configuration atomic system consists of three lower levels, where constructive and destructive quantum interference between two control transitions (driven by two control fields) arises. We point out that the controllable optical response due to the double‐control tunable quantum interference can be utilized to design some fascinating new photonic devices such as logic gates, photonic transistors and switches at quantum level. A single‐photon two‐input XOR logic gate (in which the incident “gate” photons are the individual light quanta of the two control fields) based on such an effect of optical switching control with an EIT (electromagnetically induced transparency) microcavity is suggested as an illustrative example of the application of the dark‐state manipulation via the double‐control quantum interference. The present work would open up possibility of new applications in both fundamental physics (e.g., field quantization and relevant quantum optical effects in artificial systems that can mimic atomic energy levels) and applied physics (e.g., photonic devices such as integrated optical circuits at quantum level).  相似文献

We investigate few-photon scattering properties in two one-dimensional waveguides chirally coupled to a nonlinear cavity. The quantum states of scattered few photons are solved analytically via a real-space approach, and the solution indicates the few-photon reflection and transmission properties. When inputting two photons of equal energy to resonate with the cavity, the propagation characteristics of the two photons will be interesting, which is different from the previous anti-bunching effects with a quantum emitter. More importantly, when the total energy of the two incident photons equals the energy of a nonlinear cavity accommodating two photons, influence of the bound state will become larger to result in disappearance of antibunching effect. However, the bound state has no effect on probability of routing to another waveguide.  相似文献

A spin polarization separation of reflected light is observed, when a linearly polarized Gaussian beam impinges on an air-glass interface at Brewster angle. In the far-field zone, spins of photons are oppositely polarized in two regions along the direction perpendicular to incident plane. Spatial scale of this polarization is related to optical properties of dielectric and can be controlled by experimental configuration. We believe that this study benefits the manipulation of spins of photons and the development of methods for investigating optical properties of materials.  相似文献

已有实验表明偏振门和斜入射技术能有效地抑止深层散射光子,实现浅表组织光学特性的检测。采用蒙特卡罗方法,分析了斜入射、偏振门的特性,研究了组织光学参量和入射角等参量对平均探测深度的影响。结果表明,组织的各向异性因子和入射角对平均探测深度影响较大。当各向异性因子较小(小于0.8)或者入射角较大(大于1.4 rad)时,组织的平均探测深度能满足小于2倍平均自由程的要求。偏振门和斜入射技术均可使探测光子经历的散射次数和探测深度有明显减小,因此,结合偏振门和斜入射技术能够更有效地分辨来自浅层的信号光,抑止来自深层的背景光。  相似文献

Since runaway electrons and magnetohydrodynamics activity can contribute to serious damage and energy losses in tokamaks,the effect of an external electric field on runaway electrons and hard x-ray spectra is investigated.Parameters such as the plasma current,the hard x-ray photons count and the mean energy of runaway electrons are measured.Positive and negative voltages of 300 V are applied at 10 ms after the plasma initiation(while the plasma is forming),at 15ms(while the plasma is stable) and at 20ms(while the plasma is fading away) to attain the most effective time of applying the external electric held.The number of hard x-ray photons has the most changes in the range of 0-200 keV when the external electric fields are applied.Also in the duration of 20-30 ms of plasma the greatest number of hard x-ray spectra is detected.When the external electric fields are applied,the mean energy of runaway electrons reduces significantly,especially at 15ms(while the plasma is stable).  相似文献

A radiative interaction in a collective two-atom system forms subradiant and superradiant states when the distance between neighboring atoms is less than half a wavelength of resonant radiation. We calculate the G (2) function depending on the atomic separation and detection angle and show that it oscillates with a time delay between two successively emitted photons. These oscillations are the signature of coherent effects due to the periodic emission and absorption of photons by each atom.  相似文献

Expressions are obtained for the effective differential scattering cross section of elliptically polarized photons by a Dirac point particle initially at rest, possessing charge and anomalous magnetic moment. The particular cases of the scattering of linearly and circularly polarized photons are discussed. Two independent photons, produced through the spontaneous emission of two separate emitters subject to uncorrelated dephasing processes, can display two-photon interference (i.e. coalescence into a two-photon state) when they are incident simultaneously on a beamsplitter, in a manner analogous to that of twin photons produced through degenerate parametric fluorescence. The presence of dephasing processes, however, reduces the interference contrast (i.e. the probability of coalescence), by the ratio of the coherence time to the lifetime of the emitter. 采用基于量子力学的分子动力学方法,模拟了高能粒子辐照导致钨表面的溅射和结构损伤.结果显示,当PKA能量高于200 eV且入射角度大于65°时开始产生溅射原子,当入射角度在45°-65°之间时,钨表面因受辐照而导致的空位数目最少.因此,当PKA入射角度取在45°-65°之间时,可以有效地降低辐照导致的钨表面的结构损伤.还发现钨表面含有间隙原子时会加剧表面原子溅射,而包含空位原子且PKA取在空位附近时则会抑制表面原子的溅射.  相似文献

独立光子源的干涉是实现复杂量子体系应用(比如多光子纠缠态产生和量子隐形传态等)的核心技术.利用100 GHz密集波分复用技术,实现了1.55μm全光纤多通道独立纠缠光子源的Hong-Ou-Mandel干涉,在不去除暗符合(随机符合计数)的情况下,可见度为53.2%±8.4%,去除暗符合可见度可达到82.9%±5.3%.给出了关于色散位移光纤中基于自发四波混频过程产生的单光子光谱纯度严格的理论描述,模拟了抽运脉冲宽度和滤波器带宽对单光子光谱纯度的影响,并给出了理论上的最佳条件(最佳的抽运脉冲宽度为8 ps,高斯滤波器带宽为40 GHz及以下).在测量Hong-Ou-Mandel干涉之前,先测量了液氮冷却状态下的色散位移光纤关联光子源的符合和随机符合比率,在抽运功率为23μW的情况下,最大比率可以达到131.Hong-Ou-Mandel干涉在高精度光学测量、测量装置无关的量子密钥分配等应用中扮演着极为重要的角色.  相似文献

We discuss the concept of quantum vacuum in comparison with the classical concept of vacuum in the context of light-wave propagation. The role played by quantum fluctuations is examined with respect to the behaviour of photons as the quanta of electromagnetic field and also in relation to the fact that photons can be regarded as non-zero mass particles.
