Two examples of charmed baryon production by neutrinos have been observed in BEBC filled with hydrogen. Both events fit uniquely the reaction νp → μ?pK?π+π+ and thus apparently violate the ΔS = ΔQ rule. None of the appropriate mass combinations is consistent with the mass values of the D0 and D+ mesons. However, for the mass combinations of the pK?π+ systems, values of (2.285 ± 0.005) GeV and (2.280 ± 0.003) GeV are found for event 1 and 2, respectively. These values agree with the mass of (2.285 ± 0.006) GeV for the Λc+ charmed baryon determined recently in e+e? collisions at SLAC.  相似文献

An apparent anomalous μ+-production, νN → μ+ + anything, would be observed as one of the characteristic effects of neutral current. A charm changing neutral current enhances this single muon (μ+) production. The μ+-events are caused by the same mechanism as the dimuon events, which are assumed to be produced by the semileptonic decay of charmed hadrons.  相似文献

In the SKAT bubble chamber neutrino experiment production of a short-living neutral particle with mass (1.4?m?2.5) GeV/c2 and lifetime τ≈6×10?12 s has been detected. The event may be interpreted as production and decay of the heavy lepton M0μ?+e++νe with mass (1.4?mM0?2.1) GeV/c2. It might also be the production of a charmed particle D0→e++τ?+νe (D0→e++π?+νe) with mass 1.4?mD0?2.5) GeV/c2 in a non-diagonal neutral current. The probability to interpret the event as other possible processes is very low.  相似文献

In the presence of right-handed currents including (cs)R, it is emphasized that the dominant parity-violating (-conserving) Hamiltonian for nonleptonic decays of charmed hadrons transforms like 45 + 451 (20″ + 84) of SU(4), and leads to distinctive results especially in D+ → KSπ+, F+μ+νμ and D0 → K?e+νe, etc.  相似文献

A calculation of the cross section for the reaction νγνμ + μ ? which is induced by the neutrino magnetic moment, is described in detail. The expression obtained for this cross section is used to determine the asymptotic behavior of the cross section for the reaction νNνNμ + μ ? by the Weiszäcker-Williams method. It is shown that, upon going over from the nucleus involved to a structureless particle (for example, an electron), the resulting expression is doubled owing to integration with respect to the virtual-photon momentum over the region m μ?Q?E ν, where the Weiszäcker-Williams approximation is not applicable. The method developed here makes it possible to obtain straightforwardly the known asymptotic expressions for the cross sections describing the reactions eNeNμ + μ ? and e + e ?W + W ? e + e ?.  相似文献

We report here on a study of the characteristics of the semileptonic decay spectra from a pair of charmed hadrons produced via photoproduction. The inclusive production of charmed hadrons is phenomenologically parametrized as e?aze?bpt2. Their decays are described by (i) decay of free charm quark in GIM, (ii) K1 dominant mode, DK1lν, and (iii) pure leptonic decays. We deduce that 〈Meμ2〉 = 0.18 MD2 for free quark decay and 〈Meμ2〉 = ?0.35 +-0.24 MD2 for K1 dominant decay. For the specific purpose of the photoproduction experiment at FNAL whicc is currently searching for μe events, we incorporate the incident photon spectrum, and the decay distributions with and without the experimental acceptance criteria are presented.  相似文献

It is argued that unitarity and muon-electron universality are sufficient to determine the contribution of hadrons to the imaginary part of the forward amplitude for the process e+e?μ+μ?. With these assumptions Im T1h(e+e?μ+μ?) = (e+e? → hadrons) to all orders in α. Some consequences of this formula are discussed.  相似文献

The cross sections for e+e? → e+(μ+ + non showering track + any photons have been measured for cm energies between 3.1 GeV and 5.2 GeV. We observe τ-pair production below the thresholdfor charm production and determine the τ mass to be 1.807 ± 0.020 GeV from a fit to the energy dependence of the cross section. The ration of the leptonic branching ratios Bμ/Be = 0.92 ± 0.32 is consistent with eμ-universality. The following branching ratios are determined for a V-A coupling: B(τ → ντeν) = B(τ → ντμν) = 0.182 + 0.028. B(τντ + charged hadron + any photons) = 0.29 ± 0.11, B(τντ + three or more charged hadrons + any photons) = 0.35 ± 0.11.  相似文献

The first experimental study of the interaction γγπ+πt- has been carried out in the region of ?(660) through the reaction e+e? → e+e?π+π?. Based on two observed events, the γγ width of ?(660) is obtained to be Γ?γγ = 9.6?8.0+12.3 keV. Applied on this, theory of P.C.D.C. anomaly predicts R = 5.8?3.5+3.2 for the asymptotic value of σ(e+e? → hadrons)/σ(e+e?μ+μ?).  相似文献

Two new examples of production by neutrinos and subsequent decay of charged charmed hadrons are reported. Together with two similar events reported previously they show that the lifetime of charged charmed particles is in the neighbourhood of 5 × 10?13 s, as expected from current theoretical models. One of the new events is identified as a baryon λc+ of mass 2.295 ± 0.015 GeV/c2 which undergoes the decay process λc+ → pπ+K? with a proper decay time (7.3 ± 0.1) × 10?13 s.  相似文献

We report on the results of the study of e+e? collisions at the highest PETRA energy of √s = 31.57 GeV, using the 4π sr, electromagnetic and calorimetric detector Mark J. Based on 88 hadron events, and an integrated luminosity of 243 nb?1 we obtain R = σ(e+e? → hadrons)/σ(e+e?μ+μ?) = 4.0 ± 0.5 (statistical) ± 6 (systematic). The R value, the measured thrust distribution and average spherocity show no evidence for the production of new quark flavors.  相似文献

Annihilation of e+e? into final states with a single electron has been studied with the PLUTO detector at the DORIS storage ring at CMS energies from 3.6 to 5 GeV. In the sample of 4-prong events without any detected photon we observe 21 events which we assign to the reaction e+e?τ+τ?ννe + ν?0π. We obtain a branching ratio for τ+ν?0π+ of 0.050 ± 0.015 with an overall systematic uncertainty of 30%. The data are consistent with the ?π coming from an A1 meson.  相似文献

A sample of 9930 neutrino neutral current interactions has been examined for single strange particle production. No signal in the channels νN → νγX and νN → ν|gS0X, where X means non-strange hadrons, has been found. This yields an upper limit of 5.4 × 10?3 to a 90% confidence level on the ratio [(ννΓX) + (ννΣ0X)]/[νν + anything]  相似文献

As a possible explanation of the SLAC anomalous eμ events, we computed the cross section for e+ + e? → V+ + V?μ± + e± + neutrinos, taking into account the spin correlations of V±. If one assumes that the vector meson has an anomalous magnetic moment (κ ≈ 1), the spin effects are considerable. The V± production hypothesis seems to be a viable alternative to that of the heavy lepton production.  相似文献

The gauge model of weak interactions is proposed and μ±?e? transitions predicted by the model are discussed. Estimates are given for μ±→e? transitions on hadrons like K+π?μ+e+ with Γ (K+π?μ+e+) ? 10?11Γ(K+ and μ? capture on nuclei with W(μ?→e+) ? 10?12W(μ?ν). Single μ± production in e? beams with a cross section δ ~ 10?42?10?41 cm2 is predicted.  相似文献

Bounds on 〈E?n〉/〈E+n〈, 〉E+E?〈/〉E22〈 and 〈E+E?〉/〈E+〉〈E?〉 are direved for the processes νμN → μ?μ+(e+) + X and μN → μ?μ+ + X if dileptons are mediated by a spin-12 heavy neutral lepton L0. The bounds are shown to be independent of the production mechanism and mass of L0. Useful conditional bounds are obtained relating the bounded quantities, which give information about the structure of the weak current responsible for L0 decay.  相似文献

We discuss the problem of testing the intermediate vector boson effects in the reactions e?e+ → e?e+ + hadrons, e?e+ → e?e+ + μ?μ+, e?p → e?x with the next generation of accelerators, and conclude that these reactions must be considered. The differential cross sections for the one lepton at large four-momentum transfer are obtained, and a significant contribution of Z effects is found.  相似文献

In film taken with BEBC filled with a Ne(74%mol)/H2 mixture and exposed to the CERN narrow-band neutrino beam (200 GeV), tenμ?μ+, one μ?μ+μ?and five μ?e+ events were found in the ν exposure and two μ+μ? events and one μ+e? event in the ν exposure. Assuming the same production mechanism for μμ and μe events, the relative rates, corrected for identification inefficiency and background, can be combined and are (1.3 ± 0.4)% for (μ?e+ + μ?μ+)/μ? in neutrino interactions, and (1.2 ± 0.5)% for (μ+e? + μ+μ?)/μ+ antineutrino interactions. Eight out of the sixteen μ??+ events have a V0, leading to a corrected K0-multiplicity of 1.7 ± 0.7. No evidence is found for heavy-lepton production.  相似文献

The decay K+ → e+ has been observed. In a counter experiment at CERN, 56 events of this type have been identified by detection of a γ with an energy > 100 MeV and of an e+ with an energy between 236 MeV and the maximum e+ energy, 247 MeV. The angle between γ and e+ was > 120°. Thus, the experiment was sensitive only to the structure decay (SD) term proportional to the squared sum of vector- and axialvector amplitudes, |νK + aK|2, corresponding to the emission of right handed γ. We find Δ+(SD)/Δ(Ke2) = 1.05?0.30+0.25 and Δ_(SD) < 85 (90% CL). Δ+ is in agreement with theoretical predictions.  相似文献
