Compact Hermitian surfaces of constant antiholomorphic sectional curvatures with respect to the Riemannian curvature tensor and with respect to the Hermitian curvature tensor are considered. It is proved: a compact Hermitian surface of constant antiholomorphic Riemannian sectional curvatures is a self-dual Kaehler surface; a compact Hermitian surface of constant antiholomorphic Hermitian sectional curvatures is either a Kaehler surface of constant (non-zero) holomorphic sectional curvatures or a conformally flat Hermitian surface.

We prove that a spacelike surface in L3 with nonzero constant mean curvature and foliated by pieces of circles in spacelike planes is a surface of revolution. When the planes containing the circles are timelike or null, examples of nonrotational constant mean curvature surfaces constructed by circles are presented. Finally, we prove that a nonzero constant mean curvature spacelike surface foliated by pieces of circles in parallel planes is a surface of revolution.  相似文献

The classical problem of capillary waves propagating at a constant velocity at the surface of a fluid of infinite depth is reexamined. The surface tension is assumed to vary along the free surface. The problem is solved numerically by series truncation. It is shown that the properties of the waves are qualitatively similar to those of waves with constant surface tension and that there are nonsymmetric waves with variable surface tension.  相似文献

We study under what condition a constant mean curvature surface can be round: i) If the boundary of a compact immersed disk type constant mean curvature surface in consists of lines of curvature and has less than 4 vertices with angle , then the surface is spherical; ii) A compact immersed disk type capillary surface with less than 4 vertices in a domain of bounded by spheres or planes is spherical; iii) The mean curvature vector of a compact embedded capillary hypersurface of with smooth boundary in an unbounded polyhedral domain with unbalanced boundary should point inward; iv) If the kth order () mean curvature of a compact immersed constant mean curvature hypersurface of without boundary is constant, then the hypersurface is a sphere. A comprehensive exact treatment of free surface flows governed by shallow water equations (in sigma variables) is given. Several new families of exact solutions of the governing PDEs are found and are shown to embed the well-known self-similar or traveling wave solutions which themselves are governed by reduced ODEs. The classes of solutions found here are explicit in contrast to those found earlier in an implicit form. The height of the free surface for each family of solutions is found explicitly. For the traveling or simple wave, the free surface is governed by a nonlinear wave equation, but is arbitrary otherwise. For other types of solutions, the height of the free surface is constant either on lines of constant acceleration or on lines of constant speed; in another case, the free surface is a horizontal plane while the flow underneath is a sine wave. The existence of simple waves on shear flows is analytically proved. The interaction of large amplitude progressive waves with shear flow is also studied.  相似文献

Several uniqueness results for the spacelike slices in certain Robertson–Walker spacetimes are proved under boundedness assumptions either on the mean curvature function of the spacelike surface or on the restriction of the time coordinate on the surface when the mean curvature is a constant. In the nonparametric case, a uniqueness result and a nonexistence one are proved for bounded entire solutions of some constant mean curvature spacelike differential equations.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate constant mean curvature surfaces with nonempty boundary in Euclidean space that meet a right cylinder at a constant angle along the boundary. If the surface lies inside of the solid cylinder, we obtain some results of symmetry by using the Alexandrov reflection method. When the mean curvature is zero, we give sufficient conditions to conclude that the surface is part of a plane or a catenoid.  相似文献

Exact free surface flows with shear in a compressible barotropic medium are found, extending the authors’ earlier work for the incompressible medium. The barotropic medium is of finite extent in the vertical direction, while it is infinite in the horizontal direction. The “shallow water” equations for a compressible barotropic medium, subject to boundary conditions at the free surface and at the bottom, are solved in terms of double psi-series. Simple wave and time-dependent solutions are found; for the former the free surface is of arbitrary shape while for the latter it is a damping traveling wave in the horizontal direction. For other types of solutions, the height of the free surface is constant either on lines of constant acceleration or on lines of constant speed. In the case of an isothermal medium, when γ = 1, we again find simple wave and time-dependent solutions.  相似文献

The gyroid is a triply periodic minimal surface in the associated family of the SchwarzP- andD-surface. We prove it is embedded and find constant mean curvature companions of the gyroid with small constant mean curvature. We study a Seshadri constant at a general point on a rational surface whose anticanonical linear system contains a pencil. First, we describe a Seshadri constant of an ample line bundle on such a rational surface explicitly by the numerical data of the ample line bundle. Second, we classify log del Pezzo surfaces which are special in terms of the Seshadri constants of the anticanonical divisors when the anticanonical degree is between 4 and 9.  相似文献

This paper considers the classical problem of hydrodynamic and thermal boundary layers over a flat plate in a uniform stream of fluid. It is well known that similarity solutions of the energy equation are possible for the boundary conditions of constant surface temperature and constant heat flux. However, no such solution has been attempted for the convective surface boundary condition. The paper demonstrates that a similarity solution is possible if the convective heat transfer associated with the hot fluid on the lower surface of the plate is proportional to x?1/2. Numerical solutions of the resulting similarity energy equation are provided for representative Prandtl numbers of 0.1, 0.72, and 10 and a range of values of the parameter characterizing the hot fluid convection process. For the case of constant heat transfer coefficient, the same data provide local similarity solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the surface area preserving mean curvature flow in quasi-Fuchsian 3-manifolds. We show that the flow exists for all times and converges exponentially to a smooth surface of constant mean curvature with the same surface area as the initial surface.  相似文献

In this paper we propose a method to compute symbolically a curve of constant scallop height on the surface swept by a ball-end cutter when it traces a free-form cutter-contact curve on a free-form surface. We give explicit formulas for power series solutions to the curve of constant scallop height and the next cutter-contact curve, when the initial cutter-contact curve is given. To make the symbolic results useful in practice, we propose a method to approximate the solutions unilaterally in the parametric plane by piecewise Chebyshev polynomials and exponential functions.  相似文献

An explanation is given for the initially surprising ubiquity of separating sets in normal complex surface germs. It is shown that they are quite common in higher dimensions too. The relationship between separating sets and the geometry of the metric tangent cone of Bernig and Lytchak is described. Moreover, separating sets are used to show that the inner Lipschitz type need not be constant in a family of normal complex surface germs of constant topology.  相似文献

We prove that the only compact surfaces of positive constant Gaussian curvature in \mathbbH2×\mathbbR{\mathbb{H}^{2}\times\mathbb{R}} (resp. positive constant Gaussian curvature greater than 1 in \mathbbS2×\mathbbR{\mathbb{S}^{2}\times\mathbb{R}}) whose boundary Γ is contained in a slice of the ambient space and such that the surface intersects this slice at a constant angle along Γ, are the pieces of a rotational complete surface. We also obtain some area estimates for surfaces of positive constant Gaussian curvature in \mathbbH2×\mathbbR{\mathbb{H}^{2}\times\mathbb{R}} and positive constant Gaussian curvature greater than 1 in \mathbbS2×\mathbbR{\mathbb{S}^{2}\times\mathbb{R}} whose boundary is contained in a slice of the ambient space. These estimates are optimal in the sense that if the bounds are attained, the surface is again a piece of a rotational complete surface.  相似文献
