The (σ, ω) model in the mean-field approximation where the meson fields are treated classically, describes much of observed nuclear structure and has been employed to describe the nuclear equation of state up to the quark-gluon phase transition. The acceleration of the meson sources, for example, in relativistic heavy-ion collisions, should result in bremsstrahlung-like radiation of the meson fields. The many mesons emitted serve to justify the use of classical meson fields. The slowing of the nuclei during the collision is modeled here as a smooth transition from initial to final velocity. Under ultra-relativistic conditions, vector radiation dominates. The angular distribution of energy flux shows a characteristic shape. It appears that if the vector meson field couples to the conserved baryon current, independent of the baryonic degrees of freedom, this mechanism will contribute to the radiation seen in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The possible influence of the quark-gluon plasma is also considered.  相似文献

We develop an equation of state (EOS) for the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) involving the temperature and baryon chemical potential dependent bag pressure arising due to the entropy and baryon number conservation at the phase boundary together with the Gibbs’ construction for an equilibrium phase transition. We show that the bag pressure thus obtained yields a decreasing behaviour with the increasing baryon chemical potential at a fixed temperature. Further consequences of the modified bag pressure are discussed.  相似文献

We present a string theory construction of a gravity dual of a spatially modulated phase. Our earlier work shows that the Chern-Simons term in the five-dimensional Maxwell theory destabilizes the Reissner-Nordstr?m black holes in anti-de Sitter space if the Chern-Simons coupling is sufficiently high. In this Letter, we show that a similar instability is realized on the world volume of 8-branes in the Sakai-Sugimoto model in the quark-gluon plasma phase. Our result suggests a new spatially modulated phase in quark-gluon plasma when the baryon density is above 0.8Nf fm(-3) at temperature 150 MeV.  相似文献

We consider two scenarios for the expansion of a quark-gluon plasma. If the evolution is slow enough, the system can remain in equilibrium throughout its entire history up to the freeze-out of a hadron gas; for a very rapid expansion, it may break up into hadrons before or at the confinement transition, without ever going through an equilibrium hadron phase. We compare hadron production rates in the two approaches and show that for a hadronisation temperatureT?200 MeV and baryonic chemical potential μ B ?500 MeV, their predictions essentially coincide. Present data on strange particle production lead to values in this range and hence cannot provide a distinction between the two scenarios. Pion, nucleon and non-strange meson production seem to require a considerably lower freeze-out temperature and baryonic chemical potential. In the hadron gas picture, this is in accord with the difference in mean free path of the different hadrons in the medium; it suggests a sequential freeze-out, in which strange hadrons stop interacting earlier than non-strange hadrons. In the quark-gluon plasma break-up, the hadronic final state fails to provide the high entropy per baryon observed in non-strange hadron production. The break-up moreover leads to a decrease of the entropy per baryon; hence it must be conceptually modified before it can be considered as a viable hadronisation mechanism.  相似文献

We calculate the quark condensate within a simple model for the hadronic phase by evaluating the derivative of the pressure with respect to the quark mass. The corresponding phase diagram for the transition from the hadrons to a quark-gluon plasma is discussed and we also describe the composition of the hadron gas for several temperatures and baryon densities.  相似文献

We investigate the presence of thermodynamic instabilities in a hot and dense nuclear medium where a phase transition from a gas of massive hadrons to a nearly massless baryon, antibaryon plasma can take place. The analysis is performed by requiring the global conservation of baryon number and zero net strangeness in the framework of an effective relativistic mean field theory with the inclusion of the Δ(1232)-isobars, hyperons and the lightest pseudoscalar and vector meson degrees of freedom. Similarly to the low density nuclear liquid-gas phase transition, we show that such a phase transition is characterized by both mechanical instability (fluctuations on the baryon density) that by chemical- diffusive instability (fluctuations on the strangeness concentration). It turns out that, in this situation, phases with different values of antibaryon-baryon ratios and strangeness content may coexist.  相似文献

Finite-lattice methods are used to calculate the masses of the lowest-lying baryon and meson states in the two-dimensional SU(2) Yang-Mills theory. No sign of a phase transition is seen at non-zero quark mass m. Both the meson and baryon mass vanish at m = 0: this is presumably a “chiral protection” mechanism.  相似文献

We study high energy photon production from a quark-gluon plasma at finite baryon density. We find that the photon production spectrum from the quark-gluon plasma maintained at constant temperature is only mildly dependent on the quark chemical potential.  相似文献

A quark meson coupling model based on SU(3)L×SU(3)R symmetry and scale invariance is proposed. The quarks and mesons get masses through symmetry broken. We apply this SU(3) chiral constituent quark model to investigating the nuclear matter at finite temperature and density. The effective baryon masses, compression modulus and hyperon potentials are all reasonable. The critical temperature of liquid-gas phase transition is also calculated in this model.  相似文献

The thermodynamic properties of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP), as well as its phase diagram, are calculated as a function of baryon density (chemical potential) and temperature. The QGP is assumed to be composed of the light quarks only, i.e., the up and down quarks, which interact weakly, and the gluons which are treated as they are free. The interaction between quarks is considered in the framework of the one gluon exchange model which is obtained from the Fermi liquid picture. The bag model is used, with fixed bag pressure (B)for the nonperturbative part, and the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) coupling is assumed to be constant, i.e., with no dependence on the temperature or the baryon density. The effect of weakly interacting quarks on the QGP phase diagram are shown and discussed. It is demonstrated that the one-gluon exchange interaction for the massless quarks has considerable effect on the QGP phase diagram and it causes the system to reach to the confined phase at the smaller baryon densities and temperatures. The pressure of excluded volume hadron gas model is also used to find the transition phase diagram. Our results depend on the values of bag pressure and the QCD coupling constant. The latter does not have a dramatic effect on our calculations. Finally, we compare our results with the thermodynamic properties of strange quark matter and the lattice QCD prediction for the QGP transition critical temperature.  相似文献

We consider nonequilibrium phase transitions of a quark-gluon plasma into hadrons proceeding via deflagration and supersonic condensation. The possible existence of a third phase, i.e. plasma of constitutent quarks is taken into account. New equations of state for hadronic gas are used, which include the proper volume of particles in a thermodynamically consistent way. The yields of hadrons are calculated for various values of the baryon density of the quark-gluon plasma.  相似文献

We investigate the effect of the restoration of chiral symmetry on the quark potential in a quark–meson plasma by considering meson exchanges in the two flavor Nambu–Jona-Lasinio model at finite temperature and density. There are two possible oscillations in the chiral restoration phase; one is the Friedel oscillation due to the sharp quark Fermi surface at high density, and the other is the Yukawa oscillation driven by the complex meson poles at high temperature. The quark–meson plasma is strongly coupled in the temperature region 1≤T/T c≤3, with T c being the critical temperature of the chiral phase transition. The maximum coupling in this region is located at the phase transition point.  相似文献

We report in the present talk a recent investigation on the vector properties of SU(3) baryons, based on a chiral soliton model. All relevant parameters from the model are adjusted to the experimental data of the masses and magnetic moments of the baryon octet. We compute the electromagnetic transitions for the baryon octet, the decuplet, and the antidecuplet. The numerical predictions for transition magnetic moments and radiative partial decay widths are in a very good agreement with all data of existing experiment and the vector meson dominance being used, the coupling constants for the vector mesons and antidecuplet baryon vertices are determined from the calculated transition magnetic moments.  相似文献

It is tried to present the main features of quark-gluon plasma physics to a possible reader not so familiar with quantum chromodynamics and its extension to high temperatures, merely by looking for some analogies to usual electrodynamic plasma phenomena: The electrons correspond to the quarks, the photons to the gluons, the electromagnetic coupling to the strong coupling. However, in contrast to the ionization processes or, more general, generation processes of electrically charged particles or holes, the change from the usual hadronized state of nuclear matter to the collective quark-gluon plasma state is a first-order phase transition. The possible existence of such quark matter in the cores of massive neutron stars, at ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions and in the early state of the Universe are discussed in a verbal approximation.  相似文献

We investigate the relativistic equation of state of hadronic matter and quark-gluon plasma at finite temperature and baryon density in the framework of the non-extensive statistical mechanics, characterized by power-law quantum distributions. We impose the Gibbs conditions on the global conservation of baryon number, electric charge and strangeness number. For the hadronic phase, we study an extended relativistic mean-field theoretical model with the inclusion of strange particles (hyperons and mesons). For the quark sector, we employ an extended MIT-Bag model. In this context we focus on the relevance of non-extensive effects in the presence of strange matter.  相似文献
