A novel radio-over-fiber (ROF) scheme simultaneously to modulate and transmit 10-Gb/s baseband and 60-GHz microwave signals on a single wavelength using single-sideband (SSB) modulation technique is proposed and verified by simulation. The scheme is based on a Dual-Parallel Mach-Zehnder Modulator (DPMZM). The scheme can carry the microwave signals on either the upper sideband (USB) or the lower sideband (LSB) only and the baseband signals on the other sideband. The optical 60-GHz millimeter wave (mm-wave) carrier is generated by means of subcarrier-multiplexing (SCM) technique to carry 155-Mb/s baseband signals while 10-Gb/s baseband signals are imposed on the original optical carrier via SSB modulation. The signals with dual services are successfully transmitted over 50-km single-mode fiber. 相似文献

The timing jitter of 78-GHz optical time-division multiplexed pulses has been evaluated over nine decades of Fourier frequency by the time-domain demodulation technique. For downconverting the 78-GHz pulse intensity into a low-frequency i.f. signal, an optoelectronic harmonic mixing scheme with a Mach-Zehnder intensity modulator was employed. The rms timing jitter has been estimated to be 3.74 ps for 2.5 mHz-18 MHz bandwidth. 相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate a novel multiwavelength continuous wave (CW) optical source with precise 25-GHz spacing based on the longitudinal mode-carving of a supercontinuum (SC) spectrum. The CW light was modulated with a 10-Gb/s non-return zero (NRZ) format. The experimental results show that the multiwavelength CW optical source is promising for dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM)systems. 相似文献

We propose a millimeter wave radio-over-fiber system to provide downlink service by using four-wave-mixing effect in semiconductor optical amplifier for millimeter-wave generation. At the central station, microwave source is 5.4-GHz. The optical carrier suppression modulation scheme and semiconductor optical amplifier are employed to simultaneously generate 32.4-GHz (sextuple fundamental) optical millimeter wave and up-convert data signal. At the base station, the downstream is received by a high-speed photodiode and base data are recovered by an electrical mixer. Theoretic analysis and experimental results show that the downlink 2.5-Gb/s data is successfully transmitted over 20-km single mode fiber with less than 0.15-dB power penalty. 相似文献

Generation of 10-GHz duty-cycle tunable square optical pulse in an SOA-based mode-locked fiber laser
We demonstrate the generation of 10-GHz optical square pulses by injecting a picosecond pulse train into an SOA-based mode-locked
fiber laser. The novel scheme exploits nonlinear effects and gain saturation phenomenon in the semiconductor optical amplifier
(SOA). This technique uses gain-compression dynamics between the input pulses and the generated ones in gain-saturated SOA
to form square pulses. The center wavelength of the generated optical square pulse can be tuned from 1530 to 1570 nm by adjusting
the center wavelength of the optical band pass filter (OBPF) in the SOA-based mode-locked fiber ring laser. The duty cycle
of the output pulse can be tuned from 12.7 to 88.4%, which strongly depends on the input power and intra-cavity power. 相似文献

A scheme for the photonic generation of frequency-tunable millimeter wave and terahertz wave signals based on a highly flat optical frequency comb is proposed and demonstrated experimentally.The frequency comb is generated using two cascaded phase modulators(PMs)and an electro-absorption modulator(EAM).The frequency comb covers a 440-GHz frequency range,with 40-GHz comb spacing and less than 2-dB amplitude variation.By filtering out two of the comb lines with 50 dB out of the band suppression ratio,high frequency-purity and low phase noise millimeter wave or terahertz wave signals are successfully generated,with frequencies ranging from 40 to 440 GHz. 相似文献

We describe an ultrastable cesium (Cs) atomic clock with a 9.1926-GHz regeneratively mode-locked fiber laser obtained by use of an optically pumped Cs beam tube. By adopting a 1-m-long Cs beam tube with a linewidth of 110 Hz, we have successfully obtained frequency stabilities of 4.8 x 10(-12) for tau = 1 s and 6.3 x 10(-13) for tau = 50 s for a 9.1926-GHz microwave output signal. This Cs atomic clock can generate an optical pulse train with the same stability as that of the obtained microwave, which allows us to deliver a frequency standard optical signal throughout the world by means of optical fiber networks. 相似文献

A 40-GHz wavelength tunable mode-locked fiber ring laser based on cross-gain modulation in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is presented. Pulse trains with a pulse width of 10.5 ps at 40-GHz repetition frequency are obtained. The laser operates with almost 40-nm tuning range. A multiwavelength Brillouin/erbium fibre laser (BEFL) which operates in the long wavelength (L-band) region is demonstrated for potential applications in an L-band wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) communication system. The laser configuration consists of a long erbium-doped fibre to enable L-band amplification where two 3-dB couplers take a portion of the generated BEFL signal and re-inject it into the single mode fibre to seed a cascaded BEFL line in the same direction as the first BEFL line. A stable and strong laser comb of up to five lines with 10-GHz spacing has been obtained with a Brillouin pump (BP) of 9.2 mW and a 980 nm pump of 92 mW. The BEFL has shown a broad tuning range with a tuning characteristic for line #1 which is flat over a range greater than 9.9 nm. 相似文献

A high-quality low-timing-jitter 20-GHz optical pulse train is generated by using two cascaded sinusoidally driven electroabsorption modulators (EAMs) at very low bias voltage of -0.8 V in conjunction with a tunable distributed feedback (DFB) semiconductor laser. A low-voltage second-harmonic gyrotron intended as a compact lightweight source has been designed and evaluated with a particle-tracing code and the particle-in-cell code MAGIC. The two codes are shown to be in good agreement when applied to a conventional fundamental-frequency gyrotron and also to the novel second-harmonic gyrotron. The 25-kW continuous wave (CW) 94-GHz gyrotron with a predicted conversion efficiency of 32% and device efficiency of 22.5% is driven by a 25-kV 4.5-A (υ⊥/υ2=1.5, Δυz/υz=7%) electron beam from a magnetron injection gun and employs a low-loss TE021/TE031 complex cavity for mode control. Although the 17-kG CW gyrotron will use a cryogen-free high-Tc superconducting magnet, a 94-GHz prototype will be tested at low duty with a conventional low-Tc superconducting magnet 相似文献

A novel Whispering--Gallery--Mode (WGM) fibre laser,
emitting linearly polarised three-colour light, is demonstrated by
pumping and gain coupling with evanescent waves. The pump light is
longitudinally coupled into a bare optical fibre immersed in a dye
solution of lower refractive index. The dye molecules around the
bare fibre are excited by the evanescent waves of pump light when
they propagate along the fibre in a total internal reflection. When
the pump beam within the fibre is a meridian beam, the WGM lasing
emission from the fibre laser is a linearly polarised transverse
electric wave, while it is a mixed wave of the linearly polarised
transverse electric and magnetic waves if the pump beam is a skew
beam within the fibre. Because the excited molecules are located
within the evanescent field of WGM, a good spatial overlap between
the dye gain and the evanescent field leads to a high pumping
efficiency and a longer gain distance along the fibre. Once the bare
fibre is inserted into three glass capillaries filled with Rhodamine
6G, 610 and 640 dye solutions, respectively, WGM laser oscillations
at the wavelengths of 567--575, 605--614 and 656--666~nm occur
simultaneously, and a linearly polarised three-colour lasing

Multi-channel 80-GHz RZ pulse train generation based on parametric process in highly-nonlinear fiber
It is experimentally shown that six-channel C + L-band 80-GHz short pulse trains are generated based on parametric process in highly-nonlinear fiber (HNLF). By launching a pulsed pump and three-channel continuous wave (CW) lights into 1-km HNLF, three-channel signals are amplified and three-channel idlers are generated. The waveforms of the generated 80-GHz short pulses are measured by an auto-correlator. The bit-error-rate (BER) of each channel is analyzed numerically. In the back-to-back case, the power penalties of the generated channels are less than 1.5-dB. 相似文献

We propose a remote synchronization scheme based on optoelectronic oscillators (OEO) and external modulators. Synchronized clock multiplication is demonstrated by using optical subharmonic injection locking technique. A 10-GHz slave OEO was successfully synchronized by 2.5-GHz/Gbps injecting optical clock pulse train, return-to-zero (RZ) signal and non-return-to-zero (NRZ) signal, respectively. The synchronization scheme is advantageous since it does not require strong nonlinearity presented in the master signal, and is capable of generating electrical and optical clock with small add-on phase noise. 相似文献

We demonstrate an all-optical circuit capable of generating 40-GHz control signals from flag pulses that can be used to define the switching state of all-optical gates for use with optical packets. The circuit comprises a Fabry-Perot filter and a semiconductor optical amplifier, and with a single pulse it can generate 12 control pulses with 0.64-dB amplitude modulation. AbstractA novel full duplex fiber wireless link providing alternative wired and 60-GHz wireless access is proposed based on a polarization orthogonal dual-tone optical millimeter-wave signal. In a hybrid optical network unit, the downlink optical signal can be decomposed as a single-sideband optical millimeter-wave signal (baseband optical signal) for wireless (wired) access by a polarization controller and polarization beam splitter. The uplink optical carrier abstracted from the downlink optical signal makes the hybrid optical network unit free from the optical source. The simulation results show that both downlinks and uplinks for either wired or wireless access can maintain quite good performance over 60 km of fiber. 相似文献

将石英光纤浸入低折射率的激光染料溶液中构成圆柱形微腔.采用沿光纤轴向光抽运的消逝波激励增益方式,获得了沿光纤轴向长距离的激光染料增益,受激辐射光在圆柱形微腔中回音壁模式的支持下形成激光振荡.在直径为288 μm的同一根光纤外分三段分别填入罗丹明6G、罗丹明610和罗丹明640激光染料乙二醇溶液,实现了波长分别在567~575 nm、605~614 nm和656~666 nm三个不同波段的回音壁模式激光振荡,用一根光纤同时获得了红、橙、黄三种不同颜色的激光辐射.对实验所获得的回音壁模式激光光谱做了模式标定,依据标定的模式数计算了各种模式以及抽运光在光纤截面的强度分布.计算结果表明,激光增益区域总是局限在圆柱形微腔回音壁模式的模场区域内,由此可以显著地提高抽运效率,增加抽运光沿光纤轴向的增益长度. 相似文献
