We give the general solution of the nonsymmetric partial difference functional equationf(x + t,y) + f(x – t,y) – 2f(x,y)/t 2 =f(x,y + s) + f(x,y – s) – 2f(x,y)/s 2 (N) analogous to the well-known wave equation ( 2/x 2 2/y 2)f(x,y) = 0 with the aid of generalized polynomials when no regularity assumptions are imposed onf. A finite module M over a noetherian local ring R is said to be Gorenstein if Exti(k, M) = 0 for all i ≠ dim R. An endomorphism φ: RR of rings is called contracting if for some i ≥ 1. Letting φR denote the R-module R with action induced by φ, we prove: A finite R-module M is Gorenstein if and only if HomR(φR, M) ≅ M and ExtiR(φR, M) = 0 for 1 ≤ i ≤ depth R. Summary LetR be a *-ring. We study an additive mappingD: R R satisfyingD(x 2) =D(x)x * +xD(x) for allx R.It is shown that, in caseR contains the unit element, the element 1/2, and an invertible skew-hermitian element which lies in the center ofR, then there exists ana R such thatD(x) = ax * – xa for allx R. IfR is a noncommutative prime real algebra, thenD is linear. In our main result we prove that a noncommutative prime ring of characteristic different from 2 is normal (i.e.xx * =x * x for allx R) if and only if there exists a nonzero additive mappingD: R R satisfyingD(x 2) =D(x)x * +xD(x) and [D(x), x] = 0 for allx R. This result is in the spirit of the well-known theorem of E. Posner, which states that the existence of a nonzero derivationD on a prime ringR, such that [D(x), x] lies in the center ofR for allx R, forcesR to be commutative.  相似文献

Let E be a simple Euclidean Jordan algebra of rank r and let be its symmetric cone. Given a Jordan frame on E, the generalized power s (– –1) defined on – is the Laplace transform of some positive measure R s on E if and only if s is in a given subset of R r . The aim of this paper is to study the natural exponential families (NEFs) F(R s ) associated to the measures R s . We give a condition on s so that R s generates a NEF, we calculate the variance function of F(R s ) and we show that a NEF F on E is invariant by the triangular group if and only if there exists s in such that either F=F(R s ) or F is the image of F(R s ) under the map xx.  相似文献

This article considers the equation △2u = f(x, u)with boundary conditions either u|(a)Ω = (a)u/(a)n|(a)Ω = 0 or u|(a)Ω = △u|(a)Ω = 0, where f(x,t) is asymptotically linear with respect to t at infinity, and Ω is a smooth bounded domain in RN, N > 4. By a variant version of Mountain Pass Theorem, it is proved that the above problems have a nontrivial solution under suitable assumptions of f(x, t).  相似文献

The sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence, on a hyper surface M Rn, of k points whose convex hull forms a (k–1)-dimensional simplex, homothetic to a given simplex Rn. In particular, it is shown that if M is a smooth hypersurface, homeomorphic to a sphere, such points will exist for any simplex Rn. The proofs are based on simple topological considerations. In this work we introduce the concept of n –1-isomorphism between Steiner systems (this coincides with the concept of isomorphism whenever n=1).Precisely two Steiner systems S1 and S2 are said to be n–1-isomorphic if there exist n partial systems S i (1) ,...,S i (n) contained in Si, i.{1,2},such that S 1 (k) and S 2 (k) are isomorphic for each k{1,..., n}.The n–1-isomorphisms are also used to study nets replacements, see Ostrom [8], and to study the transformation methods of designs and other incidence structures introduced in [9] and generalized in [1] and [10].Work done under the auspicies of G.N.S.A.G.A. supported by 40% grants of M.U.R.S.T.  相似文献

Suppose that H is a bialgebra over a field C and R = CV is the tensor algebra of the C-space V endowed with the structure of an H-module algebra, so that V is a submodule of the H-module R, RH is the algebra of H-invariants, and W, the support of the algebra RH, is the smallest subspace of the C-space V such that . Summary We prove the existence of nontrivial solutions for nonlinear equations of the type Lu=g(x, u) + ¦u¦¯p–2u, ¯ p > 2, where L is a continuous self- adjoint linear operator in a Hilbert space H and ug(x, u) is a lower order perturbation of ¦u¦¯p–1. We assume that ¯p is the critical exponent in the sense that the embedding H Lp, If is compact for 1p<¯p and is continuous (not necessarily compact) for p=¯p. From this result we deduce, for example, that utt -u- u=¦u¦2/Nu, u L2(SN×S1) has at least one pair (–u, u) of solutions nonconstant with respect to t, provided that is sufficiently close to some eigenvalue of tt–.Work supported by M.P.I.
