The ligand L(bip), containing two bidentate pyrazolyl-pyridine termini separated by a 3,3'-biphenyl spacer, has been used to prepare tetrahedral cage complexes of the form [M(4)(L(bip))(6)]X(8), in which a bridging ligand spans each of the six edges of the M(4) tetrahedron. Several new examples have been structurally characterized with a variety of metal cation and different anions in order to examine interactions between the cationic cage and various anions. Small anions such as BF(4)(-) and NO(3)(-) can occupy the central cavity where they are anchored by an array of CH···F or CH···O hydrogen-bonding interactions with the interior surface of the cage, but larger anions such as naphthyl-1-sulfonate or tetraphenylborate lie outside the cavity and interact with the external surface of the cage via CH···π interactions or CH···O hydrogen bonds. The cages with M = Co and M = Cd have been examined in detail by NMR spectroscopy. For [Co(4)(L(bip))(6)](BF(4))(8) the (1)H NMR spectrum is paramagnetically shifted over the range -85 to +110 ppm, but the spectrum has been completely assigned by correlation of measured T(1) relaxation times of each peak with Co···H distances. (19)F DOSY measurements on the anions show that at low temperature a [BF(4)](-) anion diffuses at a similar rate to the cage superstructure surrounding it, indicating that it is trapped inside the central cage cavity. Furthermore, the equilibrium step-by-step self-assembly of the cage superstructure has been elucidated by detailed modeling of spectroscopic titrations at multiple temperatures of an acetonitrile solution of L(bip) into an acetonitrile solution of Co(BF(4))(2). Six species have been identified: [Co(2)L(bip)](4+), [Co(2)(L(bip))(2)](4+), [Co(4)(L(bip))(6)](8+), [Co(4)(L(bip))(8)](8+), [Co(2)(L(bip))(5)](4+), and [Co(L(bip))(3)](2+). Overall the assembly of the cage is entropy, and not enthalpy, driven. Once assembled, the cages show remarkable kinetic inertness due to their mechanically entangled nature: scrambling of metal cations between the sites of pure Co(4) and Cd(4) cages to give a statistical mixture of Co(4), Co(3)Cd, Co(2)Cd(2), CoCd(3) and Cd(4) cages takes months in solution at room temperature.  相似文献

Reaction of the bis-bidentate bridging ligand L(3), in which two bidentate chelating 3(2-pyridyl)pyrazole units are separated by a 3,3'-biphenyl spacer, with Co(II) salts affords tetranuclear cage complexes of composition [Co(4)(L(3))(6)]X(8)(X =[BF(4)](-), [ClO(4)](-), [PF(6)](-) or I(-)) in which four 6-coordinate Co(II) ions in an approximately tetrahedral array are connected by six bis-bidentate bridging ligands, one spanning each of the six edges of the Co(4) tetrahedron. In every case, X-ray crystallography reveals that the 'apical' Co(II) ion has a fac tris-chelate geometry, whereas the other three Co(II) ions have mer tris-chelate geometries, resulting in (non-crystallographic)C(3) symmetry for the cages; that this structure is retained in solution is confirmed by (1)H NMR spectroscopy of the paramagnetic cages. In every case one of the anions is located inside the central cavity of the cage, with the remaining seven outside. We found no clear evidence for an anion-based templating effect. The cage superstructure is sufficiently large to leave gaps in the centres of the faces through which the internal and external anions can exchange. Variable-temperature (19)F NMR spectroscopy was used to investigate the dynamic behaviour of the cages with X =[BF(4)](-) and [PF(6)](-) in MeCN solution: in both cases two separate signals, corresponding to external and internal anions, are clear at 233 K which have coalesced to a single signal at room temperature. Analysis of the linewidth of the minor signal (for the internal anion) at various temperatures below coalescence gave an activation energy for anion exchange of ca. 50 kJ mol(-1) in each case, a figure which suggests that anion exchange can occur via a conformational rearrangement of the cage superstructure in solution rather than opening of the cavity by cleavage of metal-ligand bonds.  相似文献

Small hydrocarbon complexes (X@cage) incorporating cage-centered endohedral atoms and ions (X = H(+), H, He, Ne, Ar, Li(0,+), Be(0,+,2+), Na(0,+), Mg(0,+,2+)) have been studied at the B3LYP/6-31G(d) hybrid HF/DFT level of theory. No tetrahedrane (C(4)H(4), T(d)()) endohedral complexes are minima, not even with the very small hydrogen atom or beryllium dication. Cubane (C(8)H(8), O(h)()) and bicyclo[2.2.2]octane (C(8)H(14), D(3)(h)()) minima are limited to encapsulating species smaller than Ne and Na(+). Despite its intermediate size, adamantane (C(10)H(16), T(d)()) can enclose a wide variety of endohedral atoms and ions including H, He, Ne, Li(0,+), Be(0,+,2+), Na(0,+), and Mg(2+). In contrast, the truncated tetrahedrane (C(12)H(12), T(d)()) encapsulates fewer species, while the D(4)(d)() symmetric C(16)H(16) hydrocarbon cage (see Table of Contents graphic) encapsulates all but the larger Be, Mg, and Mg(+) species. The host cages have more compact geometries when metal atoms, rather than cations, are inside. This is due to electron donation from the endohedral metals into C-C bonding and C-H antibonding cage molecular orbitals. The relative stabilities of endohedral minima are evaluated by comparing their energies (E(endo)) to the sum of their isolated components (E(inc) = E(endo) - E(cage) - E(x)) and to their exohedral isomer energies (E(isom) = E(endo) - E(exo)). Although exohedral binding is preferred to endohedral encapsulation without exception (i.e., E(isom) is always exothermic), Be(2+)@C(10)H(16) (T(d)(); -235.5 kcal/mol), Li(+)@C(12)H(12) (T(d)(); 50.2 kcal/mol), Be(2+)@C(12)H(12) (T(d)(); -181.2 kcal/mol), Mg(2+)@C(12)H(12) (T(d)(); -45.0 kcal/mol), Li(+)@C(16)H(16) (D(4)(d)(); 13.3 kcal/mol), Be(+)@C(16)H(16) (C(4)(v)(); 31.8 kcal/mol), Be(2+)@C(16)H(16) (D(4)(d)(); -239.2 kcal/mol), and Mg(2+)@C(16)H(16) (D(4)(d)(); -37.7 kcal/mol) are relatively stable as compared to experimentally known He@C(20)H(20) (I(h)()), which has an E(inc) = 37.9 kcal/mol and E(isom) = -35.4 kcal/mol. Overall, endohedral cage complexes with low parent cage strain energies, large cage internal cavity volumes, and a small, highly charged guest species are the most viable synthetic targets.  相似文献

The energetics of the phenolic O-H bond in the three hydroxybenzoic acid isomers and of the intramolecular hydrogen O-H- - -O-C bond in 2-hydroxybenzoic acid, 2-OHBA, were investigated by using a combination of experimental and theoretical methods. The standard molar enthalpies of formation of monoclinic 3- and 4-hydroxybenzoic acids, at 298.15 K, were determined as Delta(f)(3-OHBA, cr) = -593.9 +/- 2.0 kJ x mol(-1) and Delta(f)(4-OHBA, cr) = -597.2 +/- 1.4 kJ x mol(-1), by combustion calorimetry. Calvet drop-sublimation calorimetric measurements on monoclinic samples of 2-, 3-, and 4-OHBA, led to the following enthalpy of sublimation values at 298.15 K: Delta(sub)(2-OHBA) = 94.4 +/- 0.4 kJ x mol(-1), Delta(sub)(3-OHBA) = 118.3 +/- 1.1 kJ x mol(-1), and Delta(sub)(4-OHBA) = 117.0 +/- 0.5 kJ x mol(-1). From the obtained Delta(f)(cr) and Delta(sub) values and the previously reported enthalpy of formation of monoclinic 2-OHBA (-591.7 +/- 1.3 kJ x mol(-1)), it was possible to derive Delta(f)(2-OHBA, g) = -497.3 +/- 1.4 kJ x mol(-1), Delta(f)(3-OHBA, g) = -475.6 +/- 2.3 kJ x mol(-1), and Delta(f)(4-OHBA, cr) = -480.2 +/- 1.5 kJ x mol(-1). These values, together with the enthalpies of isodesmic and isogyric gas-phase reactions predicted by density functional theory (B3PW91/aug-cc-pVDZ, MPW1PW91/aug-cc-pVDZ, and MPW1PW91/aug-cc-pVTZ) and the CBS-QMPW1 methods, were used to derive the enthalpies of formation of the gaseous 2-, 3-, and 4-carboxyphenoxyl radicals as (2-HOOCC(6)H(4)O(*), g) = -322.5 +/- 3.0 kJ.mol(-1) Delta(f)(3-HOOCC(6)H(4)O(*), g) = -310.0 +/- 3.0 kJ x mol(-1), and Delta(f)(4-HOOCC(6)H(4)O(*), g) = -318.2 +/- 3.0 kJ x mol(-1). The O-H bond dissociation enthalpies in 2-OHBA, 3-OHBA, and 4-OHBA were 392.8 +/- 3.3, 383.6 +/- 3.8, and 380.0 +/- 3.4 kJ x mol(-1), respectively. Finally, by using the ortho-para method, it was found that the H- - -O intramolecular hydrogen bond in the 2-carboxyphenoxyl radical is 25.7 kJ x mol(-1), which is ca. 6-9 kJ x mol(-1) above the one estimated in its parent (2-OHBA), viz. 20.2 kJ x mol(-1) (theoretical) or 17.1 +/- 2.1 kJ x mol(-1) (experimental).  相似文献

The 1A1 left arrow over right arrow 5T2 spin transition has been investigated in the solid solutions of Fe(x)M(1-x)(pyrazine)[Pt(CN)4] (M = Ni or Co, 0 < or = x < or = 1) having a three-dimensional polynuclear structure. Both Ni and Co dilutions tend to decrease the hysteresis width and smooth the transition curves. The enthalpy (entropy) change associated with the spin transition was found to decrease from 26 kJ mol(-1) (84 J K(-1) mol(-1)) for x = 1 to 12 kJ mol(-1) (47 J K(-1) mol(-1)) for 47% Co dilution and to 15 kJ mol(-1) (54 J K(-1) mol(-1)) for 59% Ni dilution. Raman spectroscopy revealed a mixed one- and two-mode behavior in the solid solutions. For the first time, a correlation between vibrational frequencies exhibiting one-mode behavior and the entropy change, which drives the spin crossover, is established.  相似文献

A new terphenyl-based macrocycle 5 incorporating phenanthroline as a fluorophore has been designed, synthesized and examined for its recognition ability toward various cations (Pb(2+), Hg(2+), Ba(2+), Cd(2+), Ag(+), Zn(2+), Cu(2+), Ni(2+), Co(2+), K(+), Mg(2+), Na(+) and Li(+)) by UV-vis, fluorescence and NMR spectroscopy. The receptor 5 showed highly selective 'Off-On' fluorescence signaling behavior for Zn(2+) ions in THF. Interestingly, the addition of H(2)PO(4)(-) ions to the [5-Zn] complex regulates the binding site for additional Zn(2+) ions and hence leads to a blue-shifted emission band.  相似文献

Two new isostructural two-dimensional (2D) coordination polymers exhibiting spin crossover (SCO) behavior of formulation [Fe(4,4'-bipy)(2)(NCX)(2)]·4CHCl(3) (4,4'-bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine; X = S [1·4CHCl(3)], Se [2·4CHCl(3)]) have been synthesized and characterized, and both undergo cooperative spin transitions (ST). For 1·4CHCl(3) the ST takes place in two steps with critical temperatures of T(c1)(down) = 143.1 K, T(c2)(down) = 91.2 K, T(c1)(up) = 150.7 K, and T(c2)(up) = 112.2 K. 2·4CHCl(3) displays half ST characterized by T(c)(down) = 161.7 K and T(c)(up) = 168.3 K. The average enthalpy and entropy variations and cooperativity parameters associated with the ST have been estimated to be ΔH(1)(av) = 5.18 kJ mol(-1), ΔS(1)(av) = 35 J K(-1) mol(-1), and Γ(1) = 2.8 kJ mol(-1) and ΔH(2)(av) = 3.55 kJ mol(-1), ΔS(2)(av) = 35 J K(-1) mol(-1), and Γ(2) = 2.6 kJ mol(-1) for 1·4CHCl(3), and ΔH(av) = 6.25 kJ mol(-1), ΔS(av) = 38.1 J K(-1) mol(-1), and Γ = 3.2 kJ mol(-1) for 2·4CHCl(3). At T > [T(c1) (1·4CHCl(3)); T(c) (2·4CHCl(3))], both compounds are in the space group P2/c while at T < [T(c1) (1·4CHCl(3)); T(c) (2·4CHCl(3))] they change to the C2/c space group and display an ordered checkerboard-like arrangement of iron(II) sites where the high- and low-spin states coexist at 50%.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide (TiO(2)) doped with transition-metal ions (M) has potentially broad applications in photocatalysis, photovoltaics, and photosensors. One approach to these materials is through controlled hydrolysis of well-defined transition-metal titanium oxo cage compounds. However, to date very few such cages have been unequivocally characterized, a situation which we have sought to address here with the development of a simple synthetic approach which allows the incorporation of a range of metal ions into titanium oxo cage arrangements. The solvothermal reactions of Ti(OEt)(4) with transition-metal dichlorides (M(II)Cl(2), M = Co, Zn, Fe, Cu) give the heterometallic transition-metal titanium oxo cages [Ti(4)O(OEt)(15)(MCl)] [M = Co (2), Zn (3), Fe (4), Cu (5)], having similar MTi(4)(μ(4)-O) structural arrangements involving ion pairing of [Ti(4)O(OEt)(15)](-) anion units with MCl(+) fragments. In the case of the reaction of MnCl(2), however, two Mn(II) ions are incorporated into this framework, giving the hexanuclear Mn(2)Ti(4)(μ(4)-O) cage [Ti(4)O(OEt)(15)(Mn(2)Cl(3))] (6) in which the MCl(+) fragments in 2-5 are replaced by a [ClMn(μ-Cl)MnCl](+) unit. Emphasizing that the nature of the heterometallic cage is dependent on the metal ion (M) present, the reaction of Ti(OEt)(4) with NiCl(2) gives [Ti(2)(OEt)(9)(NiCl)](2) (7), which has a dimeric Ni(μ-Cl)(2)Ni bridged arrangement arising from the association of [Ti(2)(OEt)(9)](-) ions with NiCl(+) units. The syntheses, solid-state structures, spectroscopic and magnetic properties of 2-7 are presented, a first step toward their applications as precursor materials.  相似文献

The serendipitous discovery of a 3D [Cu(CO(3))(2)(2-)](n) network with the topology of the 4(2)6(4) sodalite net in [Cu(6)(CO(3))(12)(CH(6)N(3))(8)].K(4).8H(2)O paved the way for the deliberate engineering of an extensive series of structurally related guanidinium-templated metal carbonates of composition [M(6)(CO(3))(12)(CH(6)N(3))(8)]Na(3-)[N(CH(3))(4)].xH(2)O, where the divalent metal M in the framework may be Mg, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, or Cd. A closely related crystalline material with a [Ca(CO(3))(2)(2-)](n) sodalite-like framework, but containing K(+) rather than Na(+), of composition [Ca(6)(CO(3))(12)(CH(6)N(3))(8)]K(3)[N(CH(3))(4)].3H(2)O was also isolated. All of these compounds were obtained under the simplest possible conditions from aqueous solution at room temperature, and their structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Pairs of guanidinium cations are associated with the hexagonal windows of the sodalite cages, alkali-metal cations are associated with their square windows, and N(CH(3))(4)(+) ions are located at their centers. Structures fall into two classes depending on the metal, M(II), in the framework. One type, the BC type (Im3m), comprising the compounds for which M(2+) = Ca(2+), Mn(2+), Cu(2+), and Cd(2+), has a body-centered cubic unit cell, while the second type, the FC type (Fd3c), for which M(2+) = Mg(2+), Fe(2+), Co(2+), Ni(2+), and Zn(2+), has a face-centered cubic unit cell with edges on the order of twice those of the BC structural type. The metal M in the BC structures has four close carbonate oxygen donors and four other more distant ones, while M in the FC structures has an octahedral environment consisting of two bidentate chelating carbonate ligands and two cis monodentate carbonate ligands.  相似文献

To obtain novel single-component molecular metals, we attempted to synthesize several cobalt complexes coordinated by TTF (tetrathiafulvalene)-type dithiolate ligands. We succeeded in the syntheses and structure determinations of ((n)Bu(4)N)(2)[Co(chdt)(2)](2) (1), ((n)Bu(4)N)(2)[Co(dmdt)(2)](2) (2), [Co(dmdt)(2)](2) (3), and [Co(dt)(2)](2) (4) (chdt = cyclohexeno-TTF-dithiolate, dmdt = dimethyl-TTF-dithiolate, and dt = TTF-dithiolate). Structure analyses of complexes 1-4 revealed that two monomeric [Co(ligand)2]- or [Co(ligand)(2)](0) units are connected by two Co-S bonds resulting in dimeric [Co(ligand)(2)](2)(2-) or [Co(ligand)(2)](2) molecules. Complex 1 has a cation-anion-intermingled structure and exhibited Curie-Weiss magnetic behavior with a large Curie constant (C = 2.02 K x emu x mol(-1)) and weak antiferromagnetic interactions (theta = -8.3 K). Complex 2 also has a cation-anion-intermingled structure. However, the dimeric molecules are completely isolated by cations. Complexes 3 and 4 are single-component molecular crystals. The molecules of complex 3 form two-dimensional molecular stacking layers and exhibit a room-temperature conductivity of sigmart = 1.2 x 10(-2) S.cm(-1) and an activation energy of E(a) = 85 meV. The magnetic behavior is almost consistent with Curie-Weiss law, where the Curie constant and Weiss temperature are 8.7 x 10(-2) K x emu x mol(-1) and -0.85 K, respectively. Complex 4 has a rare chair form of the dimeric structure. The electrical conductivity was fairly large (sigmart = 19 S.cm(-1)), and its temperature dependence was very small (sigma(0.55K)/sigma(rt) = ca. 1:10), although the measurements were performed on the compressed pellet sample. Complex 4 showed an almost constant paramagnetic susceptibility (chi(300) (K) = 3.5 x 10(-4) emu x mol(-1)) from 300 to 50 K. The band structure calculation of complex 4 suggested the metallic nature of the system. Complex 4 is a novel single-component molecular conductor with a dimeric molecular structure and essentially metallic properties down to very low temperatures.  相似文献

The tetradentate imino-carboxylate ligand [L](2)(-) chelates the equatorial sites of Ni(II) to give the complex [Ni(L)(MeOH)(2)] in which a Ni(II) center is bound in an octahedral coordination environment with MeOH ligands occupying the axial sites. Lanthanide (Ln) and Group II metal ions (M) template the aggregation of six [Ni(L)] fragments into the octahedral cage aggregates (M[Ni(L)](6))(x)(+) (1: M = Sr(II); x = 2,2: M = Ba(II); x = 2, 3: M = La(III); x = 3, 4: M = Ce(III); x = 3, 5: M = Pr(III); x = 3, and 6: M = Nd(III); x = 3). In the presence of Group I cations, however, aggregates composed of the alkali metal-oxide cations template various cage compounds. Thus, Na(+) forms the trigonal bipyramidal [Na(5)O](3+) core within a tricapped trigonal prismatic [Ni(L)](9) aggregate to give ((Na(5)O) subset [Ni(L)](9)(MeOH)(3))(BF(4))(2).OH.CH(3)OH, 7. Li(+) and Na(+) together form a mixed Li(+)/Na(+) core comprising distorted trigonal bipyramidal [Na(3)Li(2)O](3+) within an approximately anti-square prismatic [Ni(L)](8) cage in ((Na(3)Li(2)O) subset [Ni(L)](8)(CH(3)OH)(1.3)(BF(4))(0.7))(BF(4))(2.3).(CH(3)OH)(2.75).(C(4)H(10)O)(0.5), 8, while in the presence of Li(+), a tetrahedral [Li(4)O](2+) core within a hexanuclear open cage [Ni(L)](6) in ((Li(4)O) subset [Ni(L)](6)(CH(3)OH)(3))2ClO(4).1.85CH(3)OH, 9, is produced. In the presence of H(2)O, the Cs(+) cation induces the aggregation of the [Ni(L)(H(2)O)(2)] monomer to give the cluster Cs(2)[Ni(L)(H(2)O)(2)](6).2I.4CH(3)OH.5.25H(2)O, 10. Analysis by electronic spectroscopy and mass spectrometry indicates that in solution the trend in stability follows the order 1-6 > 7 > 8 approximately 9. Magnetic susceptibility data indicate that there is net antiferromagnetic exchange between magnetic centers within the cages.  相似文献

The oxo-Mo(IV) complexes LMoO(S(2)PR(2)-S,S') [L = hydrotris(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)borate; R = Me, Et, Pr(i)(), Ph] were prepared by reacting MoO(S(2)PR(2))(2) and KL in refluxing toluene. The dioxo-Mo(VI) complexes cis-LMoO(2)(S(2)PR(2)-S) (R = Pr(i)(), Ph) were prepared by oxidation of the oxo-Mo(IV) complexes or by reaction of LMoO(2)Cl with NaS(2)PR(2). Oxygen atom transfers from Me(2)SO to LMoO(S(2)PR(2)) were first-order with respect to Me(2)SO and complex; the overall second-order rate constants at 40 degrees C range from 9.0(1) x 10(-)(5) M(-)(1).s(-)(1) for LMoO(S(2)PMe(2)) to 2.08(5) x 10(-)(4) M(-)(1).s(-)(1) for LMoO(S(2)PPr(2)); activation parameters were in the ranges DeltaH() = 63(1) to 73(1) kJ.mol(-)(1), DeltaS() = -88(1) to -111(1) J.K(-)(1).mol(-)(1), and DeltaG() = 100(2) kJ.mol(-)(1) for LMoO(S(2)PMe(2)) to 98(2) kJ.mol(-)(1) for LMoO(S(2)PPr(2)). Oxygen atom transfer from pyridine N-oxide to LMoO(S(2)PPr(2)) was also second-order with a rate constant of 1.54(5) x 10(-)(3) M(-)(1).s(-)(1) at 40 degrees C, DeltaH() = 62(1) kJ.mol(-)(1), DeltaS() = -90(1) J.K(-)(1).mol(-)(1), and DeltaG() = 90(1) kJ.mol(-)(1). The second-order rate laws and large negative entropies of activation are consistent with associative mechanisms for the above reactions. Oxygen atom transfer from LMoO(2)(S(2)PPr(2)) to PPh(3) was first-order with respect to reactants, with an overall second-order rate constant of 2.5(3) x 10(-)(4) M(-)(1).s(-)(1) at 30 degrees C. In toluene at 40 degrees C, all the above complexes catalyzed the oxidation of PPh(3) by Me(2)SO, with turnover rates of ca. 0.9 mol of PPh(3)/(mol of catalyst/h). Reduction of LMoO(2)(S(2)PR(2)) by SH(-) led to the generation of the dioxo-Mo(V) anions [LMoO(2)(S(2)PR(2)-S)](-), which were slowly converted to the analogous oxothio-Mo(V) complexes [LMoOS(S(2)PR(2)-S)](-). Dioxygen reacted with [LMoOS(S(2)PPr(2))](-) to produce the oxothio-Mo(VI) complex LMoOS(S(2)PPr(2)-S). The (hydroxo)oxo-Mo(V) complexes LMoO(OH)(S(2)PR(2)-S) were formed upon reduction of LMoO(2)(S(2)PR(2)) with PPh(3) in wet (3-5 M H(2)O) tetrahydrofuran or upon ferrocenium oxidation of LMoO(S(2)PR(2)) in wet tetrahydrofuran. In dry solvents, LMoO(S(2)PR(2)) were oxidized to the corresponding cations, [LMoO(S(2)PR(2)-S,S')](+), which reacted with water to form LMoO(OH)(S(2)PR(2)). The Mo(V) complexes have been characterized by EPR spectroscopy.  相似文献

The reaction of [N(PPh(3))(2)][CpCo(CN)(3)] and [Cb*Co(NCMe)(3)]PF(6) (Cb* = C(4)Me(4)) in the presence of K(+) afforded {K subset[CpCo(CN)(3)](4)[Cb*Co](4)}PF(6), [KCo(8)]PF(6). IR, NMR, ESI-MS indicate that [KCo(8)]PF(6) is a high-symmetry molecular box containing a potassium ion at its interior. The analogous heterometallic cage {K subset[Cp*Rh(CN)(3)](4)[Cb*Co](4)}PF(6) ([KRh(4)Co(4)]PF(6)) was prepared similarly via the condensation of K[Cp*Rh(CN)(3)] and [Cb*Co(NCMe)(3)]PF(6). Crystallographic analysis confirmed the structure of [KCo(8)]PF(6). The cyanide ligands are ordered, implying that no Co-CN bonds are broken upon cage formation and ion complexation. Eight Co-CN-Co edges of the box bow inward toward the encapsulated K(+), and the remaining four mu-CN ligands bow outward. MeCN solutions of [KCo(8)](+) and [KRh(4)Co(4)](+) were found to undergo ion exchange with Cs(+) to give [CsCo(8)](+) and [CsRh(4)Co(4)](+), both in quantitative yields. Labeling experiments involving [(MeC5H4)Co(CN)(3)]- demonstrated that Cs(+)-for-K(+) ion exchange is accompanied by significant fragmentation. Ion exchange of NH(4+) with [KCo(8)](+) proceeds to completion in THF solution, but in MeCN solution, the exclusive products were [Cb*Co(NCMe)(3)]PF(6) and the poorly soluble salt NH(4)CpCo(CN)(3). The lability of the NH(4+)-containing cage was also indicated by the rapid exchange of the acidic protons in [NH(4)Co(8)](+). Oxidation of [MCo(8)](+) with 4 equiv of FcPF(6) produced paramagnetic (S = 4/2) [Co(8)](4+), releasing Cs(+) or K(+). The oxidation-induced dissociation of M(+) from the cages is chemically reversed by treatment of [Co(8)](4+) and CsOTf with 4 equiv of Cp(2)Co. Cation recognition by [Co(8)] and [Rh(4)Co(4)] cages was investigated. Electrochemical measurements indicated that E(1/2)(Cs(+))--E(1/2)(K(+)) approximately 0.08 V for [MCo(8)](+).  相似文献

An efficient and convenient method for the preparation of cis-3,5-diaminopiperidine (dapi) has been established and the coordination chemistry of this ligand with CoII, CoIII, NiII, CuII, ZnII, and CdII has been investigated in the solid state and in aqueous solution. Potentiometric measurements revealed a generally high stability for the bis complexes of the divalent cations with maximum stability for NiII (log beta2 = 21.2, beta2 = [M(dapi)2][M](-1)[dapi](-2), 25 degrees C, mu = 0.1 mol dm(-3)). Cyclic voltammetry established quasi-reversible formation of [Ni(dapi)2]3+ with a redox potential of 0.91 V (versus NHE) for the Ni(II/III) couple. [Co(dapi)2]3+ was prepared by aerial oxidation of the corresponding CoII precursor. The two isomers trans-[Co(dapi)2]3+ (1(3+), 26%) and cis-[Co(dapi)2]3+ (2(3+), 74%), have been separated and isolated as solid Cl- and CF3SO3- salts. In a non-aqueous medium 1(3+) and 2(3+) reacted with paraformaldehyde and NEt3 to give the methylidene-imino derivatives 3(3+) and 4(3+), in which the two piperidine rings are bridged by two or one N-CH2-O-CH2-N bridges, respectively. Crystal structure analyses were performed for H3dapi[ZnCl4]Cl, 1Cl3 x 2H2O, 2Cl3 x H2O, 3[ZnCl4]Cl, 4[ZnCl4]Cl, [Ni(dapi)2]Cl2 x H2O, [Cu(dapi)2](NO3)2, [Cu(dapi)Cl2], [(dapi)ClCd-(mu2-Cl)2-CdCl(dapi)], and [Co(dapi)(NO2)(CO3)]. The stability of [M(II)(dapi)]2+ and [M(II)(dapi)2]2+ complexes in aqueous solution, particularly the remarkably high tendency of [M(dapi)]2+ to undergo coordinative disproportionation is discussed in terms of the specific steric requirements of this ligand. Molecular mechanics calculations have been performed to analyze the different types of strain in these complexes. A variety of alkylated derivatives of dapi have been prepared by reductive alkylation with formaldehyde, benzaldehyde, salicylaldehyde, and pyridine-2-carbaldehyde. The NiII complexes of the pentadentate N3,N5-bis(2-pyridinylmethyl)-cis-3,5-diaminopiperidine (py2dapi) and the hexadentate N3,N5,1-tris(2-pyridinylmethyl)-cis-3,5-diaminopiperidine (py3dapi) have been isolated as crystalline ClO4- salts [Ni(py2dapi)Cl]ClO4 and [Ni(py3dapi)](ClO4)2 x H2O and characterized by crystal structure analyses.  相似文献

Solvated cobalt(II) ions in neat 1,3-propanediamine (tn) and n-propylamine (pa) have been characterized by electronic absorption spectroscopy and extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy. The equilibrium between tetrahedral and octahedral geometry for cobalt(II) ion has been observed in a neat pa solution, but not in neat diamine solutions such as tn and ethylenediamine (en). The thermodynamic parameters and equilibrium constant at 298 K for the geometrical equilibrium in pa were determined to be DeltaH degrees = -36.1 +/- 2.3 kJ mol(-1), DeltaS degrees = -163 +/- 8 J mol(-1) K(-1), and K(298) = 6.0 x 10(-3) M(-2), where K = [Co(pa)(6)(2+)]/{[Co(pa)(4)(2+)][pa](2)}. The equilibrium is caused by the large entropy gain in formation of the tetrahedral cobalt(II) species. The solvent exchange of cobalt(II) ion with octahedral geometry in tn and pa solutions has been studied by the (14)N NMR line-broadening method. The activation parameters and rate constants at 298 K for the solvent exchange reactions are as follows: DeltaH() = 49.3 +/- 0.9 kJ mol(-1), DeltaS() = 25 +/- 3 J mol(-1) K(-1), DeltaV() = 6.6 +/- 0.3 cm(3) mol(-1) at 302.1 K, and k(298) = 2.9 x 10(5) s(-1) for the tn exchange, and DeltaH() = 36.2 +/- 1.2 kJ mol(-1), DeltaS() = 35 +/- 6 J mol(-1) K(-1), and k(298) = 2.0 x 10(8) s(-1) for the pa exchange. By comparison of the activation parameters with those for the en exchange of cobalt(II) ion, it has been confirmed that the kinetic chelate strain effect is attributed to the large activation enthalpy for the bidentate chelate opening and that the enthalpic effect is smaller in the case of the six-membered tn chelate compared with the five-membered en chelate.  相似文献

Compounds [Fe(tzpy)(3)](BF(4))(2) (1), [Fe(tzpy)(2)(NCS)(2)].S (S = 2CHCl(3) (2), H(2)O (3)), and [Fe(tzpy)(2)(NCSe)(2)] (4) (tzpy is 3-(2-pyridyl)[1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyridine) have been synthesized and characterized. 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic noncentrosymmetric system, Cc space group, Z = 4, with a = 11.4680(6) A, b = 27.449(2) A, c = 12.4510(8) A, beta = 108.860(5) degrees, V = 3709.0(4) A(3), and T = 293(2) K. The structure consists of mononuclear [Fe(tzpy)(3)](2+) diamagnetic species, which stack via pi-interactions. Disordered BF(4)(-) anions fill the voids generated by complex cations. 2 crystallizes in the triclinic system, P one macro space group, Z = 1, with a = 8.3340(4) A, b = 8.6520(4) A, c = 11.6890(6) A, alpha = 89.113(2) degrees, beta = 81.612(2) degrees, gamma = 77.803(2) degrees, V = 814.90(7) A(3), and T = 293(2) K. The structure consists of mononuclear [Fe(tzpy)(2)(NCS)(2)] neutral species, which interact each other via pi-staking defining layers separated by two-dimensional arrays of CHCl(3). The average Fe-N bond distance, 2.176(3) A, corresponds to what is expected for an iron(II) ion in the high-spin state. Compounds 2-4 undergo thermal-driven spin conversion. The regular solution model was applied to account for the corresponding to thermodynamic parameters. The intermolecular interaction parameter, the characteristic temperature, and the enthalpy and entropy changes associated with the spin conversion were estimated as Gamma = 0.86 (2), 0.89 (3), and 3.79 (4) kJ mol(-1), T(1/2) = 75 (2), 118 (3), and 251 K (4), Delta H = 3.67 (2) and 4.08 (3) kJ mol(-1), and Delta S = 34 (2) and 34.5 (3) J K(-1) mol(-1). Delta H = 8.75 kJ mol(-1) and Delta S = 34.8 J K(-1) mol(-1) were estimated from calorimetric measurements and used as fixed parameters for 4. A quantitative light-induced excited spin state trapping (LIESST) effect was observed for 3, and the high-spin to low-spin relaxation was studied in the temperature region 20-63 K.  相似文献

Formation of cobalt(II)-thiocyanato complexes in nonionic surfactant solutions of poly(ethylene oxide) type with varying poly(ethylene oxide) chain lengths of 7.5 (Triton X-114), 30 (Triton X-305), and 40 (Triton X-405) has been studied by titration spectrophotometry and calorimetry at 298 K. Data were analyzed by assuming formation of a series of ternary complexes Co(NCS)(n)Y(m)((2-n)+) (Y=surfactant) with an overall formation constant beta(nm). In all the surfactant systems examined, data obtained can be explained well in terms of formation of Co(NCS)(+) and Co(NCS)(2) in an aqueous phase (aq), and Co(NCS)(4)Y(2-) in micelles, and their formation constants, enthalpies, and entropies have been determined. The beta(41)/beta(20) ratio increases and the corresponding enthalpy becomes significantly less negative with an increasing number of ethylene oxide groups. This suggests that micelles of these nonionic surfactants have a heterogeneous inner structure consisting of ethylene oxide and octylphenyl moieties. Indeed, on the basis of molar volumes of ethylene oxide and octylphenyl groups, intrinsic thermodynamic parameters have been extracted for the reaction Co(NCS)(2)(aq)+2NCS(-)(aq)=Co(NCS)(4)Y(2-) (Delta(r)G degrees, Delta(r)H degrees, and Delta(r)S degrees ) at each moiety. The Delta(r)G degrees, Delta(r)H degrees, and Delta(r)S degrees values are -16 kJ mol(-1), -15 kJ mol(-1), and 3 J K(-1) mol(-1), respectively, for the ethylene oxide moiety, and -15 kJ mol(-1), -70 kJ mol(-1), and -183 J K(-1) mol(-1) for octylphenyl. Significantly less negative Delta(r)H degrees and Delta(r)S degrees values for ethylene oxide imply that the hydrogen-bonded network structure of water is extensively formed at the ethylene oxide moiety, and the structure is thus broken around the Co(NCS)(4)(2-) complex with weak hydrogen-bonding ability. The interaction of cholesterol with several cyclodextrins (CDs) was investigated in water using solubility method. It was found that heptakis (2,6-di-O-methyl)-beta-CD (DOM-beta-CD) forms two types of soluble complex, with molar ratios of 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 (cholesterol : DOM-beta-CD), and neither a soluble nor insoluble complex is formed between cholesterol and alpha-CD, beta-CD, and gamma-CD, although a minor soluble complex formation was observed between cholesterol and 2-hydroxylpropyl-beta-CD. The thermodynamic parameters for 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 complex formation of cholesterol with DOM-beta-CD obtained from the changes in K with temperature are as follows: DeltaG degrees (1 : 1)=-11.6 kJ/mol at 25 degrees C (K(1 : 1)=1.09x10(2) M(-1)); DeltaH degrees (1 : 1)=-3.38 kJ/mol; TDeltaS degrees (1 : 1)=8.25 kJ/mol; DeltaG degrees (1 : 2)=-27.1 kJ/mol at 25 degrees C (K(1 : 2)=5.68x10(4) M(-1)); DeltaH degrees (1 : 2)=-3.96 kJ/mol; and TDeltaS degrees (1 : 2)=23.2 kJ/mol. The formation of the 1 : 2 complex occurred much more easily than that of the 1 : 1 complex. The driving force for 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 complex formation was considered to be mainly hydrophobic interaction. Also, based on the measurements of proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectra and studies with Corey-Pauling-Koltun atomic models, the probable structutures of the 1 : 2 complex were estimated.  相似文献

The values of the molar standard enthalpies of formation, Delta(f)H(o)(m)(C(76), cr) = (2705.6 +/- 37.7) kJ x mol(-1), Delta(f)H(o)(m)(C(78), cr) = (2766.5 +/- 36.7) kJ x mol(-1), and Delta(f)H(o)(m)(C(84), cr) = (2826.6 +/- 42.6) kJ x mol(-1), were determined from the energies of combustion, measured by microcombustion calorimetry on a high-purity sample of the D(2) isomer of fullerene C(76), as well as on a mixture of the two most abundant constitutional isomers of C(78) (C(2nu)-C(78) and D(3)-C(78)) and C(84) (D(2)-C(84), and D(2d)-C(84). These values, combined with the published data on the enthalpies of sublimation of each cluster, lead to the gas-phase enthalpies of formation, Delta(f)H(o)(m)(C(76), g) = (2911.6 +/- 37.9) kJ x mol(-1); Delta(f)H(o)(m)(C(78), g) = (2979.3 +/- 37.2) kJ x mol(-1), and Delta(f)H(o)(m)(C(84), (g)) = (3051.6 +/- 43.0) kJ x mol(-1), results that were found to compare well with those reported from density functional theory calculations. Values of enthalpies of atomization, strain energies, and the average C-C bond energy were also derived for each fullerene. A decreasing trend in the gas-phase enthalpy of formation and strain energy per carbon atom as the size of the cluster increases is found. This is the first experimental evidence that these fullerenes become more stable as they become larger. The derived experimental average C-C bond energy E(C-C) = 461.04 kJ x mol(-1) for fullerenes is close to the average bond energy E(C-C) = 462.8 kJ x mol(-1) for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).  相似文献

A capillary electrophoretic (CE) method for the speciation of Co(II), Co(III), and Cu(II) in electroless copper-plating baths containing ethylenediamine (En) has been developed. The method is based on the selective pre-capillary derivatization of Co(II) with 1,10-phenanthroline (Phen) followed by CE separation of stable [CoPhen(3)](2+), [CoEn(3)](3+), and [CuEn(2)](2+) chelates. The proposed derivatization procedure protects Co(II) from oxidation by dissolved oxygen and enables rapid determination of all three metal species within a single run. The optimized separations were carried out in a fused silica capillary (57 cmx75-microm I.D.) filled with an ethylenediamine sulfate electrolyte (20 mmol L(-1) H(2)SO(4), pH 7.0 with En, applied voltage +30 kV) using direct UV detection at 214 nm. The detection limits for a signal-to-noise ratio of 3 and 10 s, hydrodynamic injections were 5x10(-6) mol L(-1) for Cu(II), 1x10(-6) mol L(-1) for Co(III), and 4x10(-7) mol L(-1) for Co(II). Application of the method to the speciation of Co(II), Co(III), and Cu(II) in copper-plating bath samples is also demonstrated.  相似文献
