Let B(X) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on an infinite dimensional complex Banach space X. We characterize linear surjective and continuous maps on B(X) preserving different local spectral quantities at a nonzero fixed vector.  相似文献

The complete Boolean homomorphisms from the category algebra C(X) of a complete matrix space X to the category algebra C(Y) of a Baire topological space Y are characterized as those σ-homomorphisms which are induced by continuous maps from dense G8-subsets of Y into X. This result is used to deduce a series of related results in topology and measure theory (some of which are well-known). Finally a similar result for the complete Boolean homomorphisms from the category algebra C(X) of a compact Hausdorff space X tothe category algebra C(Y) of a Baire topological space Y is proved.  相似文献

Let L(X) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on an infinite dimensional complex Banach space X. We characterize additive continuous maps from L(X) onto itself which compress the local spectrum and the convexified local spectrum at a nonzero fixed vector. Additive continuous maps from L(X) onto itself that preserve the local spectral radius at a nonzero fixed vector are also characterized.  相似文献

Let (Ω, B, μ) be a measure space, X a separable Banach space, and X1 the space of all bounded conjugate linear functionals on X. Let f be a weak1 summable positive B(X, X1)-valued function defined on Ω. The existence of a separable Hilbert space K, a weakly measurable B(X, K)-valued function Q satisfying the relation Q1(ω)Q(ω) = f(ω) is proved. This result is used to define the Hilbert space L2,f of square integrable operator-valued functions with respect to f. It is shown that for B+(X, X1)-valued measures, the concepts of weak1, weak, and strong countable additivity are all the same. Connections with stochastic processes are explained.  相似文献

Given a commuting pair A1, A2 of abelian C1 subalgebras of the Calkin algebra, we look for a commuting pair B1,B2 of C1 subalgebras of B(H) which project onto A1 and A2. We do not insist that Bi, be abelian, so Bi, may contain nontrivial compact operators. If X is the joint spectrum σ(A1, A2), it is shown that the existence of a pair B1, B2 depends only on the element τ in Ext(X) determined by A1, A2. The set L(X) of those τ in Ext(X) which “lift” in this sense is shown to be a subgroup of Ext(X) when Ext(X) is Hausdorff, and also when Ai are singly generated. In this latter case, L(X) can be explicitly calculated for large classes of joint spectra. These results are applied to lift certain pairs of commuting elements of the Calkin algebra to pairs of commuting operators.  相似文献

This is a study of compactness in (a) spaces Kb(X, Y) of compact linear operators, (b) injective tensor products X \?bo? Y, and (c) spaces Lc(X, Y) of continuous linear operators, and its various relationships with equicontinuity and collective compactness. Among the applications is a result on factoring compact sets of compact operators compactly and uniformly through one and the same reflexive Banach space.  相似文献

Let A be a von Neumann algebra, let σ be a strongly continuous representation of the locally compact abelian group G as 1-automorphisms of A. Let M(σ) be the Banach algebra of bounded linear operators on A generated by ∝ σt(t) (μ?M(G)). Then it is shown that M(σ) is semisimple whenever either (i) A has a σ-invariant faithful, normal, semifinite, weight (ii) σ is an inner representation or (iii) G is discrete and each σt is inner. It is shown that the Banach algebra L(σ) generated by ∝ ?(t)σt dt (? ? L1(G)) is semisimple if a is an integrable representation. Furthermore, if σ is an inner representation with compact spectrum, it is shown that L(σ) is embedded in a commutative, semisimple, regular Banach algebra with isometric involution that is generated by projections. This algebra is contained in the ultraweakly continuous linear operators on A. Also the spectral subspaces of σ are given in terms of projections.  相似文献

Let B be a bounded linear operator of a Banach space X into itself. If the differential operator (ddt) ? B has a property more general than Bohr-Neugebauer property for Bochner almost-periodic functions, then any Stepanov-bounded solution of the differential equation (ddt) u(t) ? Bu(t) = g(t) is also almost-periodic, with g(t) being continuous and Stepanov almost-periodic.  相似文献

Let T be a closed densely-defined operator on a Banach space X and let E(·) be a spectral measure whose range E is a complete Boolean algebra of projections in X. Then T is of the form ∝f(λ) dE(λ) if and only if T commutes with E and leaves invariant every invariant subspace of E.  相似文献

In this paper we obtain a Radon-Nikodym theorem for positive linear functionals on a B1-algebra M. Some corollaries analogous to those obtained in the classical case are also obtained here. It is known that if X is a Banach space, then the space L1(Ω, X) of Bochner integrable functions on a probability space Ω with values in X is the completion (in a suitable topology) of the tensor product L1(Ω) ? X. Using our theorem, it is possible to extend this result for certain linear mappings from M ? X to X.  相似文献

An essentially binormal operator on Hilbert space is an operator which is unitarily equivalent to a 2 × 2 matrix of essentially commuting, essentially normal operators. A natural invariant of essentially binormal operators up to unitary equivalence in the Calkin Algebra is the reducing essential 2 × 2 matricial spectrum. A nonempty compact subset X of the set of 2 × 2 matrices is called hypoconvex, if it is the reducing essential 2 × 2 matricial spectrum of an operator on Hilbert space. The set EN2(X) is then defined to be the set of all equivalence classes (up to unitary equivalence in the Calkin algebra) of essentially binormal operators whose reducing essential 2 × 2 matricial spectrum coincides with X. The aim of this paper is to prove a result that enables one to compute EN2(X) in terms of the topological structure of the space X? of unitary orbits of X. Indeed, it is shown that for every hypoconvex subset X of the set of 2 × 2 matrices, there exists a natural homomorphism from Ext(X?) onto EN2(X). Also, a six term cyclic exact sequence is obtained, which produces a characterization of the kernel of the above-mentioned homomorphism.  相似文献

Let J be a symmetric norm ideal of compact operators on Hilbert space H, and assume that the finite rank operators are dense in J and that J is not the ideal of Hilbert-Schmidt operators. A linear transformation τ on J is an isometry of J onto itself if and only if there are unitary operators U and V on H such that either τ(X) = UXV or τ(X) = UXtV, where Xt denotes the transpose of X with respect to a fixed orthonormal basis of H.  相似文献

Let B(X) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on a complex Banach space X. We give the concrete form of every unital surjective map φ on B(X) such that AB is a non-zero idempotent if and only if φ(A)φ(B) is for all A,BB(X) when the dimension of X is at least 3.  相似文献

A necessary and sufficient condition that a densely defined linear operator A in a sequentially complete locally convex space X be the infinitesimal generator of a quasi-equicontinuous C0-semigroup on X is that there exist a real number β ? 0 such that, for each λ > β, the resolvent (λI ? A)?1 exists and the family {(λ ? β)k(λI ? A)?k; λ > β, k = 0, 1, 2,…} is equicontinuous. In this case all resolvents (λI ? A)?1, λ > β, of the given operator A and all exponentials exp(tA), t ? 0, of the operator A belong to a Banach algebra Bг(X) which is a subspace of the space L(X) of all continuous linear operators on X, and, for each t ? 0 and for each x?X, one has limkz (I ? k?1tA)?kx = exp(tA) x. A perturbation theorem for the infinitesimal generator of a quasi-equicontinuous C0-semigroup by an operator which is an element of Bг(X) is obtained.  相似文献

Banach spaces X whose duals are isomorphic or isometric to l1(Γ) are characterized by certain classes of operators on X. It is proved that a separable, conjugate space isomorphic to a complemented subspace of an L1(S, Σ, μ) space is isomorphic to l1; a L1 space contained in a separable, conjugate space is isomorphic to a subspace of l1.  相似文献

In this paper a Cohen factorization theorem x = at · xt (t > 0) is proved for a Banach algebra A with a bounded approximate identity, where t ? at is a continuous one-parameter semigroup in A. This theorem is used to show that a separable Banach algebra B has a bounded approximate identity bounded by 1 if and only if there is a homomorphism θ from L1(R+) into B such that ∥ θ ∥ = 1 and θ(L1(R+)). B = B = B · θ(L1(R+)). Another corollary is that a separable Banach algebra with bounded approximate identity has a commutative bounded approximate identity, which is bounded by 1 in an equivalent algebra norm.  相似文献

Let G be a Lie group with Lie algebra g and E(G) the unversal enveloping algebra of g realized as the algebra of left-invariant differential operators on G. It is proved that the uniform topology on E(G), i.e., the topology of uniform convergence on weakly bounded sets of vector states, coincides with the strongest locally convex topology on E(G). This implies that each linear functional on E(G) is a linear combination of strictly positive functionals.  相似文献

Denote by Δ(resp. Δ) the open (resp. closed) unit disc in C. Let E be a closed subset of the unit circle T and let F be a relatively closed subset of T ? E of Lesbesgue measure zero. The following result is proved. Given a complex Banach space X and a bounded continuous function f:FX, there exists an extension f? of f, bounded and continuous on \?gD ? E, analytic on Δ and satisfying sup{6f?(z)6:zεδ?E. This is applied to show that for any separable complex Banach space X there exists an analytic function from Δ to X whose range is contained and dense in the unit ball of X.  相似文献

Let B(X) be the algebra of bounded operators on a complex Banach space X. Viewing B(X) as an algebra over R, we study the structure of those irreducible subalgebras which contain nonzero compact operators. In particular, irreducible algebras of trace-class operators with real trace are characterized. This yields an extension of Brauer-type results on matrices to operators in infinite dimensions, answering the question: is an irreducible semigroup of compact operators with real spectra realizable, i.e., simultaneously similar to a semigroup whose matrices are real?  相似文献
