Adsorption of hydrogen molecules on platinum-doped single-walled zigzag (8,0) boron nitride (BN) nanotube is investigated using the density-functional theory. The Pt atom tends to occupy the axial bridge site of the BN tube with the highest binding energy of -0.91 eV. Upon Pt doping, several occupied and unoccupied impurity states are induced, which reduces the band gap of the pristine BN nanotube. Upon hydrogen adsorption on Pt-doped BN nanotube, the first hydrogen molecule can be chemically adsorbed on the Pt-doped BN nanotube without crossing any energy barrier, whereas the second hydrogen molecule has to overcome a small energy barrier of 0.019 eV. At least up to two hydrogen molecules can be chemically adsorbed on a single Pt atom supported by the BN nanotube, with the average adsorption energy of -0.365 eV. Upon hydrogen adsorption on a Pt-dimer-doped BN nanotube, the formation of the Pt dimer not only weakens the interaction between the Pt cluster and the BN nanotube but also reduces the average adsorption energy of hydrogen molecules. These calculation results can be useful in the assessment of metal-doped BN nanotubes as potential hydrogen storage media.  相似文献

We have applied density functional theory within B3LYP and M05 functionals to investigate the chemical functionalization of B12N12 nanocage with 3d transition metal (TM) atoms. Main focuses have been placed on configurations corresponding to the located minima of the adsorbates, corresponding adsorption energies, and the modified electronic properties of the cage. It was shown that there is linear correlation between the adsorption energies of the B3LYP and M05 as the results of M05 are higher than those of B3LYP, about 0.52 eV. Based on calculations, the most stable adsorption site is over the bond shared by a four- and a six-membered ring in the outer surface of cluster, in most cases. Based on the M05 results, the adsorption energies of the Sc, Ti, V, Co, and Fe are relatively high (>1.51 eV) and those of Mn, Ni, and Cu calculated to be in the range of 1.00–1.22 eV. The Cr atom forms a weak bond with a boron atom of the B12N12 cluster, while Zn atom cannot be chemically adsorbed. Charge transfer from metals to cluster ascertained that the B12N12 plays as an electron-trapping center. Inducing certain impurity states within the electron density of states, the TM adsorption significantly reduces the HOMO–LUMO gap of cluster, ranging from 32 to 79 %.  相似文献

Stable geometries, electronic structures, and magnetic properties of the ZnO monolayer doped with 3d transition‐metal (TM) (Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu) atoms substituting the cation Zn have been investigated using first‐principles pseudopotential plane wave method within density functional theory (DFT). It is found that these nine atomic species can be effectively doped in the ZnO monolayer with formation energies ranging from ?6.319 to ?0.132 eV. Furthermore, electronic structures and magnetic properties of ZnO monolayer can be modified by such doping. The results show that the doping of Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu atoms can induce magnetization, while no magnetism is observed when Sc, Ti, and V atoms are doped into the ZnO monolayer. The magnetic moment is mainly due to the strong p–d mixing of O and TM (Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu) orbitals. These results are potentially useful for spintronic applications and the development of magnetic nanostructures. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Density-functional theory has been used to determine the ground-state geometries and electronic states for homonuclear transition-metal trimers constrained to equilateral triangle geometries. This represents the first application of consistent theoretical methods to all of the ten 3d block transition-metal trimers, from scandium to zinc. A search of the potential surfaces yields the following electronic ground states and bond lengths: Sc3(2A1',2.83 A), Ti3(7E',2.32 A), V3(2E",2.06 A), Cr3(17E',2.92 A), Mn3(16A2',2.73 A), Fe3(11E",2.24 A), Co3(6E",2.18 A), Ni3(3A2",2.23 A), Cu3(2E',2.37 A), and Zn3(1A1',2.93 A). Vibrational frequencies, several low-lying electronic states, and trends in bond lengths and atomization energies are discussed. The predicted dissociation energies DeltaE(M3-->M2+M) are 49.4 kcal mol(-1)(Sc3), 64.3 kcal mol(-1)(Ti3), 60.7 kcal mol(-1)(V3), 11.5 kcal mol(-1)(Cr3), 32.4 kcal mol(-1)(Mn3), 61.5 kcal mol(-1)(Fe3), 78.0 kcal mol(-1)(Co3), 86.1 kcal mol(-1)(Ni3), 26.8 kcal mol(-1)(Cu3), and 4.5 kcal mol(-1)(Zn3).  相似文献

The electronic structure of hexagonal TiO2 nanotubes doped with 3d transition metals from Sc to Zn was calculated by the linearized augmented cylindrical wave method. The calculated densities of states demonstrate that the substitution of Sc, V, Co, Cu, or Fe atoms for a part of Ti atoms leads to the decrease in the band gap width of the material from 4 to 2 eV. Such nanotubes are promising materials for creation of electrodes for electrochemical photolysis of water.  相似文献

Summary Coprecipitation behaviour of As, Au, Co, Cr, Cu, Eu, Fe, Ir, La, Lu, Mn, Mo, Nb, Ni, Pd, Pt, Sb, Sc, Ta, W, Zn and Zr during precipitation of hydrous oxide of niobium from lithium niobate was investigated. The matrix was dissolved in HF-HNO3, evaporated to dryness and niobium was precipitated from HNO3-H2O2 medium. The recovery studies were made using radiotracers. A radiochemical separation scheme based on group precipitation has been developed for the determination of Au, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pd, Pt, Zn, Zr and rare earth elements. The method was applied to the analysis of lithium niobate. This analysis has provided fruitful information for improving the quality of the crystal.  相似文献

Based on first-principles calculations, the potential of Ti2CO2 monolayer (MXene) as a single-atom catalyst (SAC) support for 3d transition metal (TM) atoms (Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn) is studied for CO oxidation. We first screen the support effect according to the stability of a single metal atom and find that Sc and Ti supported on Ti2CO2 have stronger adsorption energy than the cohesive energy of their bulk counterparts and therefore, we selected Sc and Ti supported on Ti2CO2 for further catalytic reactions. The stability and the potential catalytic reactivity are verified by electronic structure and charge transfer analysis. Both Eley–Rideal (ER) and Langmuir–Hinshelwood (LH) mechanisms are considered in this study, and lower energy barriers of 0.002 and 0.37 eV were found in the ER mechanism compared to the LH mechanism, which are 0.25 and 0.34 eV for Sc and Ti catalysts, respectively. Moreover, kinetic ER and LH mechanisms are favorable for both Sc- and Ti/Ti2CO2 because of the comparable energy barrier to other metals and SAC supported on 2D materials. However, Ti/Ti2CO2 catalyst is thermodynamically unfavorable. Based on these calculations, we propose that Sc supported on Ti2CO2 is the best catalyst for CO-oxidation. The current study not only broadens the scope of the single-atom Sc catalyst but also extends the consideration of MXene support for catalyst optimization.  相似文献

通过第一性原理计算研究了Ti_2NO_2 MXene对H_2S的吸附、分解行为. Ti_2NO_2对H_2S气体分子的吸附结果表明,两者之间为弱的物理吸附, Ti_2NO_2无法有效吸附H_2S气体.

The electronic structure of hexagonal ZrO2 nanotubes doped by 3d-metal atoms was calculated by the linearized augmented cylindrical wave (LACW) method. The calculated densities of electronic states indicate that partial substitutions of zirconium atoms by transition metals (Sc, Ti, Mn, Co, and Zn) decrease the optical gap of (4,4) ZrO2 nanotubes from 3.7 to 2–2.3 eV. Doping of nanotubes shifts optical absorption from the UV to the visible, and the nanotubes themselves become candidate materials for design of electrodes for electrochemical water photolysis.  相似文献

The adsorption of H(2)O(2) on Pt and Pt-M alloys, where M is Cr, Co, or Ni, is investigated using density functional theory. Binding energies calculated with a hybrid DFT functional (B3PW91) are in the range of -0.71 to -0.88 eV for H(2)O(2) adsorbed with one of the oxygen atoms on top Pt positions of Pt(3), Pt(2)M, and PtM(2), and enhanced values in the range of -0.81 to -1.09 eV are found on top Ni and Co sites of the Pt(2)M clusters. Adsorption on top sites of Pt(10) yields a weaker binding of -0.48 eV, whereas on periodic Pt(111) and Pt(3)Co(111) surfaces, H(2)O(2) generally dissociates into two OH radicals. On the other hand, attempts to attach H(2)O(2) on bridge sites cause spontaneous dissociation of H(2)O(2) into two adsorbed OH radicals, suggesting that stable adsorptions on bridge sites are not possible for any of the clusters or extended surfaces that are being studied. We also found that the water-H(2)O(2) interaction reduces the strength of the adsorption of H(2)O(2) on these clusters and surfaces.  相似文献

Nitrogen reduction reactions(NRR) under room conditions remain the challenge for N2 activation on metal-based catalysis materials. Herein, the M-doped Ce O2(111)(M = Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn) with oxygen vacancies, are systematically investigated by spin-polarized DFT + U calculations. We discuss briefly the situation of OVs on pure and reduced cerium, and we found that(1) doping TMs can promote the formation of oxygen defects, apart from Ti and V-dopant,(2) ...  相似文献

Collision and adsorption of hydrogen with high incident kinetic energies on a single-walled boron nitride (BN) nanotube have been investigated. Molecular-dynamics (MD) simulations indicate that at incident energies below 14 eV hydrogen bounces off the BN nanotube wall. On the other hand, at incident energies between 14 and 22 eV each hydrogen molecule is dissociated at the exterior wall to form two hydrogen atoms, but only one of them goes through the wall. However, at the incident energies between 23 and 26 eV all of the hydrogen atoms dissociated at the exterior wall are found to be capable of going inside the nanotube and then to recombine to form hydrogen molecules inside the nanotube. Consequently, it is determined that hydrogen should have the incident energy >22 eV to go inside the nanotube. On the other hand, we find that the collisions using the incident energies >26 eV could result in damaging the nanotube structures. In addition our MD simulations find that hydrogen atoms dissociated at the wall cannot bind to either boron or nitrogen atoms in the interior wall of the nanotube.  相似文献

The stability of the Pt-3d-Pt(111) (3d = Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, or Ni) bimetallic surface structures in the presence of adsorbed oxygen has been investigated by means of density functional theory (DFT). The dissociative binding energies of oxygen on Pt-3d-Pt(111) (i.e., subsurface 3d monolayer) and 3d-Pt-Pt(111) (i.e., surface 3d monolayer) were calculated. All of the Pt-3d-Pt(111) surfaces were found to have weaker oxygen binding energies than pure Pt(111) whereas all of the 3d-Pt-Pt(111) surfaces were found to have stronger oxygen binding energies than pure Pt(111). The total heat of reaction was calculated for the segregation for 3d metal atoms from Pt-3d-Pt(111) to 3d-Pt-Pt(111) when exposed to a half monolayer of oxygen. All of the Pt-3d-Pt(111) subsurface structures were predicted to be thermodynamically unstable with adsorbed oxygen. In addition, the segregation of subsurface Ni and Co to the surfaces of Pt-Ni-Pt(111) and Pt-Co-Pt(111) was investigated experimentally using Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS). AES and HREELS confirmed the trend predicted by DFT modeling and showed that both the Pt-Ni-Pt(111) and Pt-Co-Pt(111) surface structures were unstable in the presence of adsorbed oxygen. The activation barrier of the segregation of surbsurface Ni and Co atoms was determined to be 15 +/- 2 and 7 +/- 1 kcal/mol, respectively. These results are further discussed for their implication in the design and selection of cathode bimetallic electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in polymer electrode membrane (PEM) fuel cells.  相似文献

We have investigated adsorption of an O(2) molecule on a double-walled carbon nanotube (DWCNT) edge using density functional theory calculations. An O(2) molecule adsorbs exothermally without an adsorption barrier at open nanotube edges that are energetically favorable with a large adsorption energy of about -9 eV in most cases. Dissociative adsorption of an O(2) molecule induces various spontaneous lip-lip interactions via the bridged carbon atoms, generating the closed tube ends. This explains why the DWCNTs are chemically more stable than the single-walled nanotubes during observed field emission experiments. The field emission takes place via the localized states of the bridged carbon atoms, not via those of the adsorbed oxygen atoms particularly in the armchair nanotubes. We also find that some O(2) precursor states exist as a bridge between tube edges.  相似文献

Summary The catalytic effects of peroxidase-like metalloporphyrins (Me-P) on the fluorescence reaction of homovanillic acid with hydrogen peroxide have been studied. These metalloporphyrins are the complexes of Mn with tetrakis(carboxyphenyl)porphyrin (TPPC) and trikis(sulfophenyl)porphyrin(TPPS3), Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ag and Sn with tetrakis(sulfophenyl)porphyrin(TPPS4), and Rh, Pt and Pd with tetrakis(N-methylpyridiniumyl)porphyrin-(TMPyP) and hemin. The complexes of Mn, Fe, Co, Rh and Pt with porphyrins catalyzed the formation of the fluorescence product, while the complexes of Ni, Cu, Zn, Ag, Sn and Pd did not. Traces of hydrogen peroxide and glucose can be determined using the metalloporphyrins. The characteristics of peroxidase-like metalloporphyrins have been compared with those of horseradish peroxidase (HRP).  相似文献

This review covers almost two hundred and twenty heterobinuclear platinum compounds in which Pt?M separation is over 3.0 ?. The M is a transition metal (Cu, Ag, Au, Ti, V, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Re, Fe, Ru, Os, Co, Rh, Ir, Ni and Pd). There is an example of a lanthanide, Yb and a actinide, U. The Pt atom has oxidation numbers 0, +2 and +4. The Pt coordination geometries include trigonal planar Pt(0); square planar Pt(II); trigonal bipyramidal, and pseudo octahedral Pt(IV), with the most frequent being square planar. The most common ligands for Pt are P and C donor atoms, as well as a chlorine atom. The Pt ?? Ag distance of 3.002(1) ? is the shortest found in this series. There are examples which contain two crystallographically independent molecules, which differ mostly by degree of distortion and even one unique example, which contains eight such molecules. These are examples of distortion isomerism. Factors affecting bond lengths and angles are discussed and some ambiguities in coordination polyhedral are outlined.  相似文献

CO adsorption on Pd atoms deposited on MgO(100) thin films has been studied by means of thermal desorption (TDS) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopies. CO desorbs from the adsorbed Pd atoms at a temperature of about 250 K, which corresponds to a binding energy, E(b), of about 0.7 +/- 0.1 eV. FTIR spectra suggest that at saturation two different sites for CO adsorption exist on a single Pd atom. The vibrational frequency of the most stable, singly adsorbed CO molecule is 2055 cm(-)(1). Density functional cluster model calculations have been used to model possible defect sites at the MgO surface where the Pd atoms are likely to be adsorbed. CO/Pd complexes located at regular or low-coordinated O anions of the surface exhibit considerably stronger binding energies, E(b) = 2-2.5 eV, and larger vibrational shifts than were observed in the experiment. CO/Pd complexes located at oxygen vacancies (F or F(+) centers) are characterized by much smaller binding energies, E(b) = 0.5 +/- 0.2 or 0.7 +/- 0.2 eV, which are in agreement with the experimental value. CO/Pd complexes located at the paramagnetic F(+) centers show vibrational frequencies in closest agreement with the experimental data. These comparisons therefore suggest that the Pd atoms are mainly adsorbed at oxygen vacancies.  相似文献
