Non-level semi-standard graded Cohen–Macaulay domain with h-vector (h0,h1,h2)

Let $\mathbb{k}$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0, and $A={?}_{i\in \mathbb{N}}{A}_i$ a Cohen–Macaulay graded domain with $A_0=\mathbb{k}$. If A is semi-standard graded (i.e., A is finitely generated as a $\mathbb{k}[A_1]$-module), it has the h-vector$(h_0,h_1,\dots ,h_s)$, which encodes the Hilbert function of A. From now on, assume that $s=2$. It is known that if A is standard graded (i.e., $A=\mathbb{k}[A_1]$), then A is level. We will show that, in the semi-standard case, if A is not level, then $h_1+1$ divides $h_2$. Conversely, for any positive integers h and n, there is a non-level A with the h-vector $(1,h,(h+1)n)$. Moreover, such examples can be constructed as Ehrhart rings (equivalently, normal toric rings).     

Ideals in deformation quantizations over Z/pnZ

Let k be a perfect field of characteristic $p>2$. Let $A_1$ be an Azumaya algebra over a smooth symplectic affine variety over k. Let $A_n$ be a deformation quantization of $A_1$ over $W_n(\mathbf{k})$. We prove that all $W_n(\mathbf{k})$-flat two-sided ideals of $A_n$ are generated by central elements.     

On AP3-covering sequences

Recently, motivated by Stanley's sequences, Kiss, Sándor, and Yang introduced a new type sequence: a sequence A of nonnegative integers is called an $A{P}_k$-covering sequence if there exists an integer $n_0$ such that, if $n>n_0$, then there exist $a_1\in A,\dots ,a_{k?1}\in A$, $a_1<a_2<?<a_{k?1}<n$ such that $a_1,\dots ,a_{k?1},n$ form a k-term arithmetic progression. They prove that there exists an $A{P}_3$-covering sequence A such that $\underset{n\to \infty }{\lim \sup }A(n)/\sqrt{n}\le 34$. In this note, we prove that there exists an $A{P}_3$-covering sequence A such that $\underset{n\to \infty }{\lim \sup }A(n)/\sqrt{n}=\sqrt{15}$.     

On the distance between linear codes

Let V be an n-dimensional vector space over the finite field consisting of q elements and let ${\mathrm{\Gamma }}_k(V)$ be the Grassmann graph formed by k-dimensional subspaces of V, $1<k<n-1$. Denote by $\mathrm{\Gamma }{(n,k)}_q$ the restriction of ${\mathrm{\Gamma }}_k(V)$ to the set of all non-degenerate linear ${[n,k]}_q$ codes. We show that for any two codes the distance in $\mathrm{\Gamma }{(n,k)}_q$ coincides with the distance in ${\mathrm{\Gamma }}_k(V)$ only in the case when $n<{(q+1)}^2+k-2$, i.e. if n is sufficiently large then for some pairs of codes the distances in the graphs ${\mathrm{\Gamma }}_k(V)$ and $\mathrm{\Gamma }{(n,k)}_q$ are distinct. We describe one class of such pairs.     

Un contre-exemple pour un espace d'interpolation qui n'est pas faiblement LUR

According to a previous result of the author, if $(A_0,A_1)$ is an interpolation couple, if $A_0^{?}$ is weakly LUR, then the complex interpolation spaces ${(A_0^{?},A_1^{?})}_{\theta }$ have the same property.Here we construct an interpolation couple $(B_0,B_1)$ where $B_0$ is LUR, but where the complex interpolation spaces ${(B_0,B_1)}_{\theta }$ are not strictly convex.     

Periodicity in a nonlinear discrete predator–prey system with state dependent delays

With the help of a continuation theorem based on Gaines and Mawhin's coincidence degree, easily verifiable criteria are established for the global existence of positive periodic solutions of the following nonlinear discrete state dependent delays predator–prey systemwhere $a_i,c_j,d_i:Z\to R^{+}$ are positive $\omega$-periodic, $\omega$ is a fixed positive integer. $b_1,b_2:Z\to R^{+}$ are $\omega$-periodic and ${\sum }_{k=0}^{\omega -1}{b}_i(k)>0$. ${\tau }_i,{\sigma }_j,{\rho }_i:Z\times R\times R\to R(i=1,2,\dots ,n,j=1,2,\dots ,m)$ are $\omega$-periodic with respect to their first arguments, respectively. ${\alpha }_i,{\beta }_j,{\gamma }_i(i=1,2,\dots ,n,j=1,2,\dots ,m)$ are positive constants.     

Dynamics of epidemics in homogeneous/heterogeneous populations and the spreading of multiple inter-related infectious diseases: Constant-sign periodic solutions for the discrete model

We consider the following model that describes the dynamics of epidemics in homogeneous/heterogeneous populations as well as the spreading of multiple inter-related infectious diseases:$u_i(k)=\sum _{\ell =k-{\tau }_i}^{k-1}{g}_i(k,\ell )f_i(\ell ,u_1(\ell ),u_2(\ell ),\dots ,u_n(\ell )),k\in \mathbf{Z},1⩽i⩽n\text{.}$Our aim is to establish criteria such that the above system has one or multiple constant-sign periodic solutions $(u_1,u_2,\dots ,u_n)$, i.e., for each $1⩽i⩽n$, $u_i$ is periodic and ${\theta }_i{u}_i⩾0$ where ${\theta }_i\in \{1,-1\}$ is fixed. Examples are also included to illustrate the results obtained.
