A class of smoothing sample average approximation (SAA) methods is proposed for solving the stochastic mathematical program with complementarity constraints (SMPCC) considered by Birbil et al. [S.I. Birbil, G. Gürkan, O. Listes, Solving stochastic mathematical programs with complementarity constraints using simulation, Math. Oper. Res. 31 (2006) 739–760]. The almost sure convergence of optimal solutions of the smoothed SAA problem to that of the true problem is established by the notion of epi-convergence in variational analysis. It is demonstrated that, under suitable conditions, any accumulation point of Karash–Kuhn–Tucker points of the smoothed SAA problem is almost surely a kind of stationary point of SMPCC as the sample size tends to infinity. Moreover, under a strong second-order sufficient condition for SMPCC, the exponential convergence rate of the sequence of Karash–Kuhn–Tucker points of the smoothed SAA problem is investigated through an application of Robinson?s stability theory. Some preliminary numerical results are reported to show the efficiency of proposed method.  相似文献

A smoothing sample average approximation (SAA) method based on the log-exponential function is proposed for solving a stochastic mathematical program with complementarity constraints (SMPCC) considered by Birbil et al. (S. I. Birbil, G. Gürkan, O. Listes: Solving stochastic mathematical programs with complementarity constraints using simulation, Math. Oper. Res. 31 (2006), 739–760). It is demonstrated that, under suitable conditions, the optimal solution of the smoothed SAA problem converges almost surely to that of the true problem as the sample size tends to infinity. Moreover, under a strong second-order sufficient condition for SMPCC, the almost sure convergence of Karash-Kuhn-Tucker points of the smoothed SAA problem is established by Robinson’s stability theory. Some preliminary numerical results are reported to show the efficiency of our method.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to investigate the convergence properties for Mordukhovich’s coderivative of the solution map of the sample average approximation (SAA) problem for a parametric stochastic generalized equation. It is demonstrated that, under suitable conditions, both the cosmic deviation and the ρ-deviation between the coderivative of the solution mapping to SAA problem and that of the solution mapping to the parametric stochastic generalized equation converge almost surely to zero as the sample size tends to infinity. Moreover, the exponential convergence rate of coderivatives of the solution maps to the SAA parametric generalized equations is established. The results are used to develop sufficient conditions for the consistency of the Lipschitz-like property of the solution map of SAA problem and the consistency of stationary points of the SAA estimator for a stochastic mathematical program with complementarity constraints.  相似文献

In this paper a log-exponential smoothing method for mathematical programs with complementarity constraints (MPCC) is analyzed, with some new interesting properties and convergence results provided. It is shown that the stationary points of the resulting smoothed problem converge to the strongly stationary point of MPCC, under the linear independence constraint qualification (LICQ), the weak second-order necessary condition (WSONC), and some reasonable assumption. Moreover, the limit point satisfies the weak second-order necessary condition for MPCC. A notable fact is that the proposed convergence results do not restrict the complementarity constraint functions approach to zero at the same order of magnitude.  相似文献

Conditional Value at Risk (CVaR) has been recently used to approximate a chance constraint. In this paper, we study the convergence of stationary points, when sample average approximation (SAA) method is applied to a CVaR approximated joint chance constrained stochastic minimization problem. Specifically, we prove under some moderate conditions that optimal solutions and stationary points, obtained from solving sample average approximated problems, converge with probability one to their true counterparts. Moreover, by exploiting the recent results on large deviation of random functions and sensitivity results for generalized equations, we derive exponential rate of convergence of stationary points. The discussion is also extended to the case, when CVaR approximation is replaced by a difference of two convex functions (DC-approximation). Some preliminary numerical test results are reported.  相似文献

Inspired by a recent work by Alexander et al. (J Bank Finance 30:583–605, 2006) which proposes a smoothing method to deal with nonsmoothness in a conditional value-at-risk problem, we consider a smoothing scheme for a general class of nonsmooth stochastic problems. Assuming that a smoothed problem is solved by a sample average approximation method, we investigate the convergence of stationary points of the smoothed sample average approximation problem as sample size increases and show that w.p.1 accumulation points of the stationary points of the approximation problem are weak stationary points of their counterparts of the true problem. Moreover, under some metric regularity conditions, we obtain an error bound on approximate stationary points. The convergence result is applied to a conditional value-at-risk problem and an inventory control problem.   相似文献

Earlier results on weak convergence to diffusion processes [8] are generalized to cases where the limiting diffusions may have regular boundaries. The boundaries may be adhesive or reflecting, and in each case we give two different sets of conditions for convergence. It is shown that these conditions are necessary and sufficient for convergence in the same sense as the conditions in [8]. We also extend our results to cases where the coefficients of the diffusions have simple discontinuities, in particular we thereby answer an open question by Keilson and Wellner [9]. Finally we formulate alternative sets of conditions for convergence, with these new sets being more convenient for instance when the sequence under investigation consists of pure jump Markov processes in continuous time.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the sample average approximation (SAA) approach for a class of stochastic nonlinear complementarity problems (SNCPs) and study the corresponding convergence properties. We first investigate the convergence of the SAA counterparts of two-stage SNCPs when the first-stage problem is continuously differentiable and the second-stage problem is locally Lipschitz continuous. After that, we extend the convergence results to a class of multistage SNCPs whose decision variable of each stage is influenced only by the decision variables of adjacent stages. Finally, some preliminary numerical tests are presented to illustrate the convergence results.

Sample average approximation (SAA) method has recently been applied to solve stochastic programs with second order stochastic dominance (SSD) constraints. In particular, Hu et al. (Math Program 133:171–201, 2012) presented a detailed convergence analysis of $\epsilon $ -optimal values and $\epsilon $ -optimal solutions of sample average approximated stochastic programs with polyhedral SSD constraints. In this paper, we complement the existing research by presenting convergence analysis of stationary points when SAA is applied to a class of stochastic minimization problems with SSD constraints. Specifically, under some moderate conditions we prove that optimal solutions and stationary points obtained from solving sample average approximated problems converge with probability one to their true counterparts. Moreover, by exploiting some recent results on large deviation of random functions and sensitivity analysis of generalized equations, we derive exponential rate of convergence of stationary points.  相似文献

We provide a refined convergence analysis for the SAA (sample average approximation) method applied to stochastic optimization problems with either single or mixed CVaR (conditional value-at-risk) measures. Under certain regularity conditions, it is shown that any accumulation point of the weak GKKT (generalized Karush-Kuhn-Tucker) points produced by the SAA method is almost surely a weak stationary point of the original CVaR or mixed CVaR optimization problems. In addition, it is shown that, as the sample size increases, the difference of the optimal values between the SAA problems and the original problem tends to zero with probability approaching one exponentially fast.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce composite iterative schemes for finding fixed points of k-strictly pseudo-contractive mappings for some 0?k<1 in Hilbert spaces. Then, under certain different control conditions, we establish strong convergence theorems on the composite iterative schemes. The main theorems improve and generalize the recent corresponding results of Cho et al. [5] and Marino and Xu [9] as well as Halpern [6], Wittmann [12], Moudafi [10] and Xu [14].  相似文献

Stochastic programming is a well-known instrument to model many risk management problems in finance. In this paper we consider a stochastic programming model where the objective function is the variance of a random function and the constraint function is the expected value of the random function. Instead of using popular scenario tree methods, we apply the well-known sample average approximation (SAA) method to solve it. An advantage of SAA is that it can be implemented without knowing the distribution of the random data. We investigate the asymptotic properties of statistical estimators obtained from the SAA problem including examining the rate of convergence of optimal solutions of the SAA problem as sample size increases. By using the classical penalty function technique and recent results on uniform exponential convergence of sample average random functions, we show that under some mild conditions the statistical estimator of the optimal solution converges to its true counterpart at an exponential rate. We apply the proposed model and the numerical method to a portfolio management problem and present some numerical results.  相似文献

Sample average approximation (SAA) is one of the most popular methods for solving stochastic optimization and equilibrium problems. Research on SAA has been mostly focused on the case when sampling is independent and identically distributed (iid) with exceptions (Dai et al. (2000) [9], Homem-de-Mello (2008) [16]). In this paper we study SAA with general sampling (including iid sampling and non-iid sampling) for solving nonsmooth stochastic optimization problems, stochastic Nash equilibrium problems and stochastic generalized equations. To this end, we first derive the uniform exponential convergence of the sample average of a class of lower semicontinuous random functions and then apply it to a nonsmooth stochastic minimization problem. Exponential convergence of estimators of both optimal solutions and M-stationary points (characterized by Mordukhovich limiting subgradients (Mordukhovich (2006) [23], Rockafellar and Wets (1998) [32])) are established under mild conditions. We also use the unform convergence result to establish the exponential rate of convergence of statistical estimators of a stochastic Nash equilibrium problem and estimators of the solutions to a stochastic generalized equation problem.  相似文献

In this paper we obtain Sobolev estimates for weak solutions of first order variational Mean Field Game systems with coupling terms that are local functions of the density variable. Under some coercivity conditions on the coupling, we obtain first order Sobolev estimates for the density variable, while under similar coercivity conditions on the Hamiltonian we obtain second order Sobolev estimates for the value function. These results are valid both for stationary and time-dependent problems. In the latter case the estimates are fully global in time, thus we resolve a question which was left open in [23]. Our methods apply to a large class of Hamiltonians and coupling functions.  相似文献

Motivated by a recent method introduced by Kanzow and Schwartz [C. Kanzow and A. Schwartz, A new regularization method for mathematical programs with complementarity constraints with strong convergence properties, Preprint 296, Institute of Mathematics, University of Würzburg, Würzburg, 2010] for mathematical programs with complementarity constraints (MPCCs), we present a related regularization scheme for the solution of mathematical programs with vanishing constraints (MPVCs). This new regularization method has stronger convergence properties than the existing ones. In particular, it is shown that every limit point is at least M-stationary under a linear independence-type constraint qualification. If, in addition, an asymptotic weak nondegeneracy assumption holds, the limit point is shown to be S-stationary. Second-order conditions are not needed to obtain these results. Furthermore, some results are given which state that the regularized subproblems satisfy suitable standard constraint qualifications such that the existing software can be applied to these regularized problems.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to investigate the convergence properties for Mordukhovich’s coderivative of the solution map of the sample average approximation (SAA) problem for a parametric stochastic variational inequality with equality and inequality constraints. The notion of integrated deviation is introduced to characterize the outer limit of a sequence of sets. It is demonstrated that, under suitable conditions, both the cosmic deviation and the integrated deviation between the coderivative of the solution mapping to SAA problem and that of the solution mapping to the parametric stochastic variational inequality converge almost surely to zero as the sample size tends to infinity. Moreover, the exponential convergence rate of coderivatives of the solution maps to the SAA parametric stochastic variational inequality is established. The results are used to develop sufficient conditions for the consistency of the Lipschitz-like property of the solution map of SAA problem and the consistency of stationary points of the SAA estimator for a stochastic bilevel program.  相似文献

Several strong convergence results involving two distinct four parameter proximal point algorithms are proved under different sets of assumptions on these parameters and the general condition that the error sequence converges to zero in norm. Thus our results address the two important problems related to the proximal point algorithm — one being that of strong convergence (instead of weak convergence) and the other one being that of acceptable errors. One of the algorithms discussed was introduced by Yao and Noor (2008) [7] while the other one is new and it is a generalization of the regularization method initiated by Lehdili and Moudafi (1996) [9] and later developed by Xu (2006) [8]. The new algorithm is also ideal for estimating the convergence rate of a sequence that approximates minimum values of certain functionals. Although these algorithms are distinct, it turns out that for a particular case, they are equivalent. The results of this paper extend and generalize several existing ones in the literature.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a composite iterative scheme by viscosity approximation method for finding a zero of an accretive operator in Banach spaces. In this paper, we consider the stochastic second-order cone complementarity problems (SSOCCP). We first formulate the SSOCCP contained expectation as an optimization problem using the so-called second-order cone complementarity function. We then use sample average approximation method and smoothing technique to obtain the approximation problems for solving this reformulation. In theory, we show that any accumulation point of the global optimal solutions or stationary points of the approximation problems are global optimal solution or stationary point of the original problem under suitable conditions. Finally, some numerical examples are given to explain that the proposed methods are feasible.  相似文献
