Sorption of U(VI) from aqueous solution to decarbonated calcareous soil (DCS) was studied under ambient conditions using batch technique. Soil samples were characterized by XRD, FT-IR and SEM in detail and the effects of pH, solid-to-liquid ratio (m/V), temperature, contact time, fulvic acid (FA), CO2 and carbonates on U(VI) sorption to calcareous soil were also studied in detail using batch technique. The results from experimental techniques showed that sorption of U(VI) on DCS was significantly influenced by pH values of the aqueous phase, indicating a formation of inner-sphere complexes at solid–liquid interface, and increased with increasing temperature, suggesting the sorption process was endothermic and spontaneous. Compared to Freundlich model, sorption of U(VI) to DCS was simulated better with Langmuir model. The sorption equilibrium could be quickly achieved within 5 h, and sorption results fitted pseudo-second-order model well. The presence of FA in sorption system enhanced U(VI) sorption at low pH and reduced U(VI) sorption at high pH values. In absence of FA, the sorption of U(VI) onto DCS was an irreversible process, while the presence of FA reinforced the U(VI) desorption process reversible. The presence of CO2 decreased U(VI) sorption largely at pH >8, which might due to a weakly adsorbable formation of Ca2UO2(CO3)3 complex in aqueous phase.  相似文献

The interaction of U(VI) with Na-attapulgite was studied by using batch technique at different experimental conditions. The effect of contact time, solid content, pH, ionic strength and temperature on the sorption of U(VI) onto Na-attapulgite in the presence and absence of humic acid was also investigated. The results showed that the sorption of U(VI) on Na-attapulgite achieved sorption equilibrium quickly. Sorption of U(VI) on Na-attapulgite increased quickly with increasing pH at pH < 6.5, and then decreased with pH increasing at pH > 6.5. The sorption curves were shifted to left in low NaClO4 solutions as compared those in high NaClO4 solutions. The sorption was strongly dependent on pH and ionic strength. The sorption was dominated by ion exchange or outer-sphere surface complexation at low pH values, and by inner-sphere surface complexation or surface precipitation at high pH values. The thermodynamic parameters (i.e., ΔH 0, ΔS 0, and ΔG 0) for the sorption of U(VI) were calculated from the temperature dependent sorption isotherms, and the results suggested that the sorption reaction was an endothermic and spontaneous process. The Na-attapulgite is a suitable material in the removal and preconcentration of U(VI) from large volumes of aqueous solutions in nuclear waste management.  相似文献

Uranium is one of the most hazardous heavy metal due to its long half-life radioactivity, high toxicity and mobility as aqueous uranyl ion (UO2 2+) under ordinary environmental conditions. Herein, amino functionalized SBA-15 (APSS) was developed as a rapid and efficient sorbent for removal of U(VI) from the environment. The APSS sample was synthesized by grafting method and was characterized by SEM, NMR, SAXS, and N2 sorption/desorption isothermal experiments. The sorption of U(VI) by APSS was investigated under different conditions of pH, contact time, initial U(VI) concentration, ionic strength and solid–liquid ratio. The results show that the sorption of U(VI) by APSS is strongly dependent on pH but independent of ionic strength and solid–liquid ratios (m/V). The sorption is ultrafast with an equilibrium time of less than 30 min, and the sorption capacity is as large as 409 mg/g at pH 5.3 ± 0.1. Besides, the U(VI) sorption by APSS from extremely diluted solution and the desorption of U(VI) from APSS were also studied. It is found that 100 mg of APSS can almost completely remove the U(VI) ions from 4 L aqueous solution with the U(VI) concentration as low as 4.2 ppb and the sorbed U(VI) can be completely desorbed by 0.1 mol/L nitric acid. The results strongly reveal the high performance of the APSS material in the removal and preconcentration of U(VI) from the aqueous solution.  相似文献

Batch type experiments of U(VI) sorption on a reference montmorillonite(SWy-2) were carried out over wide ranges of pH, ionic strength, and totalU(VI) concentration. The influences of these factors on the sorption behaviorof U(VI) were analyzed to gain a macroscopic understanding of the sorptionmechanism. The sorption of U(VI) on montmorillonite showed a distinct dependencyon ionic strength. When it was low (0.01 or 0.001M), almost all of the totalU(VI) was sorbed over the whole pH range studied, therefore, the dependencyon pH was not clear. But the sorption of U(VI) on montmorillonite showed asorption pH edge in the high ionic strength condition (0.1M), like those onother clay minerals, kaolinite and chlorite. A mechanistic model was establishedby considering the mineral structure of montmorillonite together with ourprevious EPR result, which successfully explained the U(VI) sorption on montmorilloniteover the whole range of experimental conditions. The model describes the U(VI)sorption on montmorillonite as simultaneous and competitive reactions of ionexchange and surface complexation, whose relative contribution to the totalsorption depends on pH and ionic strength. At low ionic strength and low pHconditions, ion exchange was the dominant mechanism for U(VI) sorption onmontmorillonite. At high ionic strength and high pH conditions, surface complexationwas the dominant  相似文献

Application of NKF-6 zeolite for the removal of U(VI) from aqueous solution   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
To better understand the application of NKF-6 zeolite as an adsorbent for the removal of U(VI) from radionuclides and heavy metal ions polluted water, herein, NKF-6 zeolite was employed to remove U(VI) at different experimental conditions. The influence of solid/liquid ratio, contact time, pH, ionic strength, humic substances and temperature on sorption of U(VI) to NKF-6 zeolite was investigated using batch technique under ambient conditions. The experimental results demonstrated that the sorption of U(VI) on NKF-6 zeolite was strongly dependent on pH. The sorption property of U(VI) was influenced by ionic strength at pH < 7.0, whereas was independent of ionic strength at pH > 7.0. The presence of fulvic acid or humic acid promoted the sorption of U(VI) on NKF-6 zeolite at low pH values while restrained the sorption at high pH values. The thermodynamic parameters (i.e., ΔS 0, ΔH 0, and ΔG 0) calculated from the temperature-dependent sorption isotherms demonstrated that the sorption process of U(VI) on NKF-6 zeolite was endothermic and spontaneous. At low pH values, the sorption of U(VI) was dominated by outer-sphere surface complexation and ion exchange with Na+/H+ on NKF-6 zeolite surfaces, while inner-sphere surface complexation was the main sorption mechanism at high pH values. From the experimental results, one can conclude that NKF-6 zeolite can be used as a potential adsorbent for the preconcentration and solidification of U(VI) from large volumes of aqueous solutions.  相似文献

The sorption of U(VI) from aqueous solution on MX-80 bentonite was studied as a function of contact time, pH, ionic strength, solid contents, humic acid (HA), fulvic acid (FA) and temperature under ambient conditions using batch technique. The results indicate that sorption of U(VI) on MX-80 bentonite is strongly dependent on pH and ionic strength. The removal of U(VI) to MX-80 bentonite is rather quick and the kinetic sorption data is simulated well by a pseudo-second-order rate equation. The presence of HA enhances the sorption of U(VI) on MX-80 bentonite obviously, but the influence of FA on U(VI) sorption is not obvious. The thermodynamic parameters (ΔH 0, ΔS 0, and ΔG 0) for the sorption of U(VI) calculated from temperature dependent sorption suggest that the sorption reaction is endothermic and spontaneous.  相似文献

Graphene oxide nanosheets have attracted multidisciplinary attention due to their unique physicochemical properties. Herein, few-layered graphene oxide nanosheets were synthesized from graphite using a modified Hummers method and were characterized by TEM, AFM, Raman spectroscopy, XPS, FTIR spectroscopy, TG-DTA and acid-base titrations. The prepared few-layered graphene oxide nanosheets were used as adsorbents for the preconcentration of U(VI) ions from large volumes of aqueous solutions as a function of pH, ionic strength and temperature. The sorption of U(VI) ions on the graphene oxide nanosheets was strongly dependent on pH and independent of the ionic strength, indicating that the sorption was mainly dominated by inner-sphere surface complexation rather than by outer-sphere surface complexation or ion exchange. The abundant oxygen-containing functional groups on the surfaces of the graphene oxide nanosheets played an important role in U(VI) sorption. The sorption of U(VI) on graphene oxide nanosheets increased with an increase in temperature and the thermodynamic parameters calculated from the temperature-dependent sorption isotherms suggested that the sorption of U(vi) on graphene oxide nanosheets was an endothermic and spontaneous process. The maximum sorption capacities (Q(max)) of U(VI) at pH 5.0 ± 0.1 and T = 20 °C was 97.5 mg g(-1), which was much higher than any of the currently reported nanomaterials. The graphene oxide nanosheets may be suitable materials for the removal and preconcentration of U(VI) ions from large volumes of aqueous solutions, for example, U(VI) polluted wastewater, if they can be synthesized in a cost-effective manner on a large scale in the future.  相似文献

In this study, the sorption of U(VI) from aqueous solution on Mg2Al layered double hydroxide (Mg2Al LDH) was studied as a function of various water quality parameters such as contact time, pH, ionic strength, soil fulvic acid (FA), solid content and temperature by using a batch technique. The sorption of U(VI) on Mg2Al LDH was dependent on pH. The presence of FA increased U(VI) sorption at low pH, whereas decreased U(VI) sorption at high pH. Both kinetics and thermodynamic parameters of the sorption process were evaluated. It was found that the pseudo-second-order model was more suitable for our experiment. The Langmuir model fitted the sorption isotherms of U(VI) better than the Freundlich and D-R model at three different temperatures of 298, 303 and 313 K. The thermodynamic parameters (ΔH°, ΔS°, and ΔG°) were calculated from the temperature dependent sorption isotherms, and the results suggested that U(VI) sorption was a spontaneous and endothermic process. The results demonstrate that Mg2Al LDH is a promising sorbent material for the preconcentration and separation of uranium pollution from large volumes of aqueous solutions.  相似文献

Polyoxometalates K7[α-PW11O39]·14H2O (PW11) modified mesoporous silica (MCM-48) with cubic structure, was prepared by impregnation and calcination methods. The modified mesoporous silica sorbent (PW11/MCM-48) was studied as a potential adsorbent for U(VI) from aqueous solutions. MCM-48 and PW11/MCM-48 were confirmed by X-ray diffraction and nitrogen physisorption techniques. The results indicate the original keggin structure of PW11 and mesoporous structure of MCM-48 are maintained after supporting PW11 on mesoporous silica MCM-48. The effects of contact time, solid-to-liquid ratio (m/V), solution pH and ionic strength on U(VI) sorption behaviors of the pure and modified mesoporous silicas were also studied. Typical sorption isotherms such as Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms were determined for sorption process. The results suggest that the sorption of U(VI) on MCM-48 or PW11/MCM-48 are strongly dependent on pH values but independent of ionic strength. The sorption capacity of PW11/MCM-48 for U(VI) is about ten times more than that of MCM-48.  相似文献

The mesoporous silicas (MCM-41 and MCM-48) are synthesized by hydrothermal method, which are characterized by XRD and BET techniques. The application of mesoporous silicas for the sorption of U(VI) from aqueous solution are studied by using batch technique under ambient condition. The effects of contact time, solid-to-liquid ratio (m/V), solution pH, ionic strength and temperature are determined, and the results indicate that the sorption of U(VI) to MCM-41 or MCM-48 are strongly dependent on pH values but independent of ionic strength. Compared with Langmuir model, the sorption isotherms can be simulated by Freundlich model well according to the high relative coefficients. The parameters for Langmuir and Freundlich sorption isotherms are calculated from the temperature at 298, 318 and 338 K, respectively, and the results suggest that the sorption of U(VI) on MCM-41 or MCM-48 is a spontaneous and exothermic process. In contrast to its sorption capacity for U(VI), MCM-48 is a suitable material for the preconcentration of U(VI) from large volumes of aqueous solutions.  相似文献

To determine the influence of humic acid (HA), pH, and presence of atmospheric CO2 on the sorption of U(VI) onto kaolinite, the structure of the surface complexes was studied by U L III-edge extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy. The best fits to the experimental EXAFS data were obtained by including two uranium coordination shells with two axial (O ax) and five equatorial (O eq) oxygen atoms at 1.77+/-0.02 and 2.34+/-0.02 A, respectively, and two coordination shells with one Al/Si atom each at 3.1 and 3.3 A. As in the case of the binary system U(VI)-kaolinite, uranium forms inner-sphere surface complexes by edge sharing with aluminum octahedra and/or silicon tetrahedra. HA and atmospheric CO2 as well as pH had no influence on the EXAFS structural parameters in the pH range of 5-8. Despite the presence of HA, U(VI) prefers to sorb directly onto kaolinite and not to HA that is bound to the clay surface. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements of kaolinite particles that had been exposed to HA suspensions showed that significant parts of the kaolinite surface are not covered by HA.  相似文献

The attapulgite/iron oxide magnetic nanocomposites were prepared by coprecipitation method and characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometer and Fourier transform infrared sorption spectroscopy. The results of characterization showed that iron oxides were successfully deposited on the surfaces of attapulgite. The prepared magnetic nanocomposites were applied to remove radionuclide U(VI) ions from aqueous solutions by using batch technique and magnetic separation method. The results showed that the sorption of U(VI) on attapulgite/iron oxide magnetic composites was strongly dependent on ionic strength and pH at low pH values, and was independent of ionic strength at high pH values. The interaction of U(VI) with the magnetic nanocomposites was mainly dominated by outer-sphere surface complexation or ion exchange at low pH values, and was controlled by inner-sphere surface complexation or multinuclear surface complexation at high pH values. With increasing temperature, the sorption of U(VI) on attapulgite/iron oxide magnetic composites increased and the thermodynamic parameters calculated from the temperature dependent sorption isotherms suggested that the sorption of U(VI) on the magnetic nanocomposites was a spontaneous and endothermic process. The high sorption capacity and easy magnetic separation of the attapulgite/iron oxide magnetic composites make the material as suitable sorbent in nuclear waste management.  相似文献

Herein, we used biochar pyrolyzed from rice straw to adsorb uranium (U) from aqueous solutions. The adsorption of U(VI) on biochar was strongly dependent on pH but independent on ionic strength. HA/FA enhanced the sorption at pH <6.8 while inhibited the sorption at pH >6.8. The sorption reached equilibrium within 3 h, which was not mediated by pH. The adsorption process was spontaneous and endothermic, and enhanced at higher temperature. However, the influence of temperature was negligible at low initial U(VI) concentrations. Therefore, biochar derived from rice straw may be a promising adsorbent for the removal of U(VI).

Fibrous membranes based on poly(ethylene oxide) and poly(l-lactide) fabricated by electrospinning were evaluated for the first time as substrates for the adsorption of tetravalent thorium (Th(IV)) and hexavalent uranium (U(VI)) from aqueous media. The membranes consisted of microfibers with diameters of approximately 2 μm as revealed by scanning electron microscopy. The adsorption of Th(IV) and U(VI) on the membrane was investigated as a function of pH, ionic strength and initial metal concentration under normal atmospheric conditions. The experimental data indicated increased affinity of the membrane for Th(IV) and U(VI), which was pH depended and reaches maximum values (>90 %) for Th(IV) and U(VI) at pH 3 and pH 6.5, respectively. The maximum adsorption capacity (q max) at optimum conditions was evaluated from the Langmuir isotherm and was found to amount 50.08 and 9.3 mmol kg?1 for Th(IV) and U(VI), respectively. In addition, studies on the effect of ionic strength on the adsorption efficiency did not show any significant effect indicating that the adsorption of Th(IV) and U(VI) on the membrane was most probably based on specific interactions and the formation of inner-sphere surface complexes. The significantly higher adsorption efficiency of the membrane for Th(IV) in acidic media (pH ≤ 3) could be utilized for a pH-triggered, selective separation of Th(IV) from U(VI) from aqueous media.  相似文献

Hydroxy-aluminum pillared Na-montmorillonite(OH–Al-MT) was prepared for studying sorption of U(VI) in the existence of soluble calcium (Ca2+), carbonate ion (CO32?) and humic acid. Various characterizations confirm that hydroxy-aluminum was successfully pillared into Na-montmorillonite (Na-MT). The effects of pH, concentration of Ca2+ and CO32? as well as HA on the sorption capacity of Na-MT and OH–Al-MT for U(VI) has been investigated by batch experiments. Additionally, the kinetics, isotherms and thermodynamics of adsorption of U(VI) were discussed in detailed. The study indicates that OH–Al-MT can be a potentially promising low-cost adsorbent for removal of U(VI) in wastewaters.  相似文献

In this paper, the multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were modified with chitosan (CS) by using low temperature plasma grafting technique (denoted as MWCNT-CS). The prepared MWCNTs and MWCNT-CS were characterized by SEM, TEM, FTIR and Raman spectroscopy in detail and the results suggested that CS molecules were successfully grafted on the surfaces of MWCNTs. The materials were applied as adsorbents in the removal of U(VI) ions from large volumes of aqueous solutions as a function of environmental conditions. The removal of U(VI) from aqueous solution to MWCNTs and MWCNT-CS increased with increasing pH values at pH < 7, and then decreased with increasing pH values at pH > 7. The sorption of U(VI) on MWCNTs and MWCNT-CS was strongly dependent on pH and independent of ionic strength. The sorption of U(VI) on MWCNTs and MWCNT-CS was dominated by inner-sphere surface complexation rather than by ion exchange or outer-sphere surface complexation. The surface grafted chitosan molecules can enhances U(VI) sorption on MWCNTs obviously, which was also evidenced from the XPS spectroscopy analysis. The results of high sorption capacity of U(VI) on MWCNT-CS suggest that the MWCNT-CS nanomaterial is a suitable candidate in the preconcentration of U(VI) ions from large volumes of aqueous solutions.  相似文献

This paper discusses the sorption properties for U(VI) by alginate coated CaSO4·2H2O sepiolite and calcined diatomite earth (Kieselguhr) (ACSD). The removal of U(VI) from aqueous solution by sorption onto ACSF in a single component system with various contact times, pH, temperatures, and initial concentrations of U(VI) was investigated. The sorption patterns of uranium on the composite adsorbent followed the Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkhevic (D-R) isotherms. The Freundlich, Langmuir, and D-R models have been applied and the data correlated well with Freundlich model and that the sorption was physical in nature (sorption energy, E a = 17.05 kJ/mol). The thermodynamic parameters such as variation of enthalpy ΔH, variation of entropy ΔS and variation of Gibbs free energy ΔG were calculated from the slope and intercept of lnK 0 vs. 1/T plots. Thermodynamic parameters (ΔH ads = 31.83 kJ/mol, ΔS ads = 167 J/mol·K, ΔG o ads (293.15 K) = −17.94 kJ/mol) showed the endothermic heat of sorption and the feasibility of the process. The thermodynamics of U(VI) ion/ACSD system indicates the spontaneous and endothermic nature of the process. It was noted that an increase in temperature resulted in a higher uranium loading per unit weight of the adsorbent.  相似文献

Graphene oxide (GO) is an ideal adsorbent due to excellent physicochemical properties. Humic acid (HA) is ubiquitous in aquatic and soil environment, which can affect the migration of metal ions. In this study, we investigated the sorption mechanisms of U(VI) onto GO surfaces in the presence of HA. pH dependent and ionic strength independent sorption process were observed and the concentration of HA is positively proportional to U(VI) sorption capacities. Results also suggest that a pre-mixing HA + U(VI) gave better results than a pre-mixing of GO + HA, which can be explained by the size distribution of different GO systems.

Sorption of U(VI) from aqueous solution to Na-attapulgite was investigated at different experimental chemistry conditions by using batch technique. The attapulgite sample was characterized by FTIR and XRD. Sorption of U(VI) on attapulgite was strongly dependent on pH and ionic strength. The sorption of U(VI) on attapulgite increased quickly with rising pH at pH < 6, and decreased with increasing pH at pH > 7. The presence of humic acid (HA) enhanced the sorption of U(VI) on attapulgite obviously at low pH because of the strong complexation of surface adsorbed HA with U(VI) on attapulgite surface. Sorption of U(VI) on attapulgite was mainly dominated by ion exchange and/or outer-sphere surface complexation at low pH values, whereas the sorption was attributed to the inner-sphere surface complexation or precipitation at high pH values. The sorption increased with increasing temperature and the thermodynamic parameters calculated from the temperature dependent sorption isotherms suggested that the sorption of U(VI) on attapulgite was a spontaneous and endothermic process. The results indicate that attapulgite is a very suitable material for the preconcentration of U(VI) ions from large volumes of aqueous solutions.  相似文献

The phosphorylated hydrothermal carbon spheres (HCS-PO4) were developed by functionalizing hydrothermal carbon spheres (HCS) with o-phosphoethanolamine, and the structure and textural property were characterized by SEM and FT-IR. The parameters that affect the uranium(VI) sorption, such as solution pH, initial U(VI) concentration, contact time, and temperature, had been investigated. The HCS-PO4 showed the highest uranium sorption capacity at initial pH 6.0 and contact time of 120 min. The adsorption kinetics was better described by the pseudo-second-order model, and the adsorption process could be well defined by the Langmuir isotherm and the maximum monolayer adsorption capacity increased from 80.00 to 434.78 mg/g after phosphorylation. The thermodynamic parameters, ? (298 K), ?H° and ?S°, demonstrated shown that the sorption process of U(VI) onto HCS-PO4 was feasible, spontaneous and endothermic in nature. The spent HCS-PO4 could be effectively regenerated by 0.1 mol/L EDTA solution for the removal and recovery of U(VI) and reused for ten cycles at least. Selective adsorption studies showed that the HCS-PO4 could selectively remove U(VI), and the selectivity coefficients of HCS in the presence of co-existing ions, Mg(II), Na(I), Zn(II), Mn(II),Co(II), Ni(II), Sr(II), Cs(I) and Hg(II) improved after functionalization.  相似文献
