The onset of convection in a rarefield gas saturating a horizontal layer of a porous medium has been investigated using both Darcy and Brinkman models. It is assumed that due to rarefaction both velocity slip and temperature jump exist at the boundaries. The results show that (i) when the degree of rarefaction increases the critical Rayleigh number as well as the critical wave number for the onset of convection increases, (ii) stabilizing effect of temperature jump is more than that of velocity slip, (iii) Darcy model is seen to be the most stable one when compared to Brinkman model or the pure gaseous layer (i.e. in the absence of porous medium).  相似文献

The steady plane Couette flow is analyzed within the framework of the five field equations of mass, momentum and energy for a Newtonian viscous heat conducting ideal gas in which slip and jump boundary conditions are considered. The results obtained are compared with those that follow from the direct simulation Monte Carlo method. Received July 10, 2000  相似文献

The possibility of simplifying the formulas obtained by the Maxwell-Loyalka method for the velocity u, temperature T and diffusion d slip coefficients and the temperature jump coefficient in a binary gas mixture with frozen internal degrees of freedom of the molecules is considered. Special attention is paid to gases not having sharply different physicochemical properties. The formulas are written in a form convenient for use without linearization in the thermal diffusion coefficient. They are systematically analyzed for mixtures of inert gases, N2, O2, CO2, and H2 at temperatures extending from room temperature to 2500°K. It is shown that for the molecular weight ratios m* = m2/m1 considered the expressions for u and can be radically simplified. With an error acceptable for practical purposes (up to 10%) it is possible to employ expressions of the same structural form as for a single-component gas: for u if 1 m* 6, and for if 1 m* 3. When 1 m* 2 the expression for T can be simplified with a maximum error of 5%. Within the limits of accuracy of the method the expression for t can be linearized in the thermal diffusion coefficient. An approximate expression convenient for practical calculations is proposed for d Finally, the , u, and T for a single-component polyatomic gas with easy excitation of the internal degrees of freedom of the molecules are similarly analyzed; it is shown that these expressions can be considerably simplified.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 6, pp. 152–159, November–December, 1990.  相似文献

We prove the existence and uniqueness of steady flows of incompressible fluids of grade three subject to slip and no-slip boundary conditions in bounded domains. The slip boundary condition is a non-linear generalization of the Navier slip boundary condition and permits situations in which the solid boundary undergoes non-rigid tangential motion. The existence proof is based on a fixed point method in which the boundary-value problem is decomposed into four linear problems.  相似文献

The mechanism of turbulent heat transfer in the thermal boundary layer developing in the channel flow of a drag-reducing surfactant solution was studied experimentally. A two-component laser Doppler velocimetry and a fine-wire thermocouple probe were used to measure the velocity and temperature fluctuations simultaneously. Two layers of thermal field were found: a high heat resistance layer with a high temperature gradient, and a layer with a small or even zero temperature gradient. The peak value of was larger for the flow with the drag-reducing additives than for the Newtonian flow, and the peak location was away from the wall. The profile of was depressed in a similar manner to the depression of the profile of in the flow of the surfactant solution, i.e., decorrelation between v and compared with decorrelation between u and v. The depression of the Reynolds shear stress resulted in drag reduction; similarly, it was conjectured that the heat transfer reduction is due to the decrease in the turbulent heat flux in the wall-normal direction for a flow with drag-reducing surfactant additives.List of symbols ensemble averaged value - (·)+ normalized by the inner wall variables - (·) root-mean-square value - C concentration of cetyltrimethyl ammonium chloride (CTAC) solution - c p heat capacity - D hydraulic diameter - f friction factor - H channel height - h heat transfer coefficient - j H Colburn factor - l length - Nu Nusselt number, h - Pr Prandtl number, c p/ - q w wall heated flux - Re Reynolds number, U b/ - T temperature - T b bulk temperature - T i inlet temperature - T w wall temperature - T friction temperature, q w /c p u - U local time-mean streamwise velocity - U 1 velocity signals from BSA1 - U 2 velocity signals from BSA2 - U b bulk velocity - u streamwise velocity fluctuation - u1 velocity in abscissa direction in transformed coordinates - u friction velocity, - v wall-normal velocity fluctuation - v1 velocity in ordinate direction in transformed coordinates - var(·) variance - x streamwise direction - y wall-normal direction - z spanwise direction - j junction diameter of fine-wire TC - w wire diameter of fine-wire TC - angle of principal axis of joint probability function p(u,v) - f heat conduction of fluid - w heat conduction of wire of fine-wire TC - kinematic viscosity - local time-mean temperature difference, T w T - temperature fluctuation - standard deviation - density - w wall shear stress  相似文献

Flow and heat transfer of a pseudo-plastic power-law fluid over a stretching permeable surface with the magnetic effect is investigated. In the boundary conditions, the nonlinear temperature jump and the velocity slip are considered. Semi-similarity equations are obtained and solved by bvp4c with MATLAB. The problem can be considered as an extension of the previous work done by Mahmoud(Mahmoud, M. A. A. Slip velocity effect on a non-Newtonian power-law fluid over a moving permeable surface with heat generation. Mathematical and Computer Modelling, 54, 1228–1237(2011)). Efforts are made to discuss the effects of the power-law number, slip velocity, and temperature jump on the dimensionless velocity and temperature distribution.  相似文献

Based on the perfect slip condition between rigid walls and fluids, the compressive flow of Herschel-Bulkley fluids and biviscous fluids was studied. The explicit expressions of stresses and fluid velocity were given. To move the rigid walls for a Herschel-Bulkley fluid with the yield stress (τ0), the mean pressure applied onto the rigid wall should be larger than 2τ0/. No yield surface exists in the interior of the fluids when flow occurs. For a biviscous fluid, a critical load was given. The fluid behaves like the Bingham fluid when the external applied load onto the wall is larger than the critical load, otherwise the fluid is Newtonian. Flow regimes and mixing performance in a T-type micromixer at high Reynolds numbers were studied by numerical solution of the Navier–Stokes equations. The Reynolds number was varied from 1 to 1000. The cross section of the mixing channel was 100 μm × 200 μm, and its length was 1400 μm. The transverse inlet channels were symmetric about the mixing channel, and their cross-section was 100 μm × 100 μm, and the total length was 800 μm. Five different flow regimes were identified: (i) stationary vortex-free flow (Re < 5); (ii) stationary symmetric vortex flow with two horseshoe vortices (5 < Re < 150); (iii) stationary asymmetric vortex flow (150 < Re < 240); (iv) non-stationary periodic flow (240 < Re < 400); and (v) stochastic flow (Re > 400). Maximum mixing efficiency is obtained for nonstationary asymmetric vortex flow. In this case, an S-shaped vortex structure is formed in the flow field. The effect of the slip conditions on the flow pattern and mixing efficiency is studied. The slip length varied from 1 to 70 μm in the calculations. It was shown that the mixing can be controlled by hydrophobic coating.  相似文献

The no‐slip condition is an assumption that cannot be derived from first principles and a growing number of literatures replace the no‐slip condition with partial‐slip condition, or Navier‐slip condition. In this study, the influence of partial‐slip boundary conditions on the laminar flow properties past a circular cylinder was examined. Shallow‐water equations are solved by using the finite element method accommodating SU/PG scheme. Four Reynolds numbers (20, 40, 80, and 100) and six slip lengths were considered in the numerical simulation to investigate the effects of slip length and Reynolds number on characteristic parameters such as wall vorticity, drag coefficient, separation angle, wake length, velocity distributions on and behind the cylinder, lift coefficient, and Strouhal number. The simulation results revealed that as the slip length increases, the drag coefficient decreases since the frictional component of drag is reduced, and the shear layer developed along the cylinder surface tends to push the separation point away toward the rear stagnation point so that it has larger separation angle than that of the no‐slip condition. The length of the wake bubble zone was shortened by the combined effects of the reduced wall vorticity and wall shear stress which caused a shift of the reattachment point closer to the cylinder. The frequency of the asymmetrical vortex formation with partial slip velocity was increased due to the intrinsic inertial effect of the Navier‐slip condition. The effects of a velocity slip and an external magnetic field on the flow of biomagnetic fluid(blood) through a stenosed bifurcated artery are investigated by using ANSYS FLUENT. Blood is regarded as a non-Newtonian power-law fluid, and the magnetization and electrical conductivity are considered in the mathematical model. The no-slip condition is replaced by the first-order slip condition. The slip boundary condition and magnetic force are compiled in the solver by the user-defined function(UDF)...  相似文献

In consideration of the electroosmotic flow in a slit microchannel, the con-stitutive relationship of the Eyring fluid model is utilized. Navier's slip condition is used as the boundary condition. The governing equations are solved analytically, yielding the velocity distribution. The approximate expressions of the velocity distribution are also given and discussed. Furthermore, the effects of the dimensionless parameters, the electrokinetic parameter, and the slip length on the flow are studied numerically, and appropriate conclusions are drawn.  相似文献

In the context of the first- and second-order theories of consistent-order extended thermodynamics, a systematic approach is established for analyzing the temperature jump at the boundary through studying one-dimensional stationary heat conduction in a rarefied gas at rest. Thereby an approach to the free boundary-value problem in general is explored. Boundary values of temperature are assumed to be in the form of power expansion with respect to the Knudsen number, based on which analytical expressions of the temperature jump aswell as entropy production at the boundary are derived explicitly. Dependencies of these two boundary quantities on both the Knudsen number and accommodation factor are also extensively discussed. The present analysis is expected to be the basis for the study of higher-order theories of consistent-order extended thermodynamics.   相似文献

This paper presents a novel meshless Galerkin scheme for modeling incompressible slip Stokes flows in 2D. The boundary value problem is reformulated as boundary integral equations of the first kind which is then converted into an equivalent variational problem with constraint. We introduce a Lagrangian multiplier to incorporate the constraint and apply the moving least‐squares approximations to generate trial and test functions. In this boundary‐type meshless method, boundary conditions can be implemented exactly and system matrices are symmetric. Unlike the domain‐type method, this Galerkin scheme requires only a nodal structure on the bounding surface of a body for approximation of boundary unknowns. The convergence and abstract error estimates of this new approach are given. Numerical examples are also presented to show the efficiency of the method. Determination of the wall slip velocity in the flow of a SBR compound   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
Rubber compounds are known to exhibit slip at the wall in particular flow conditions. The slip velocity is usually determined by using the classical Mooney method. The rheological behavior of a styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) compound was studied with three different rheometers. Biconical rotational, capillary and slit die rheometers were used to define the true viscous behavior of the compound and the slip velocity. It was shown that it was impossible to apply the Mooney method to our experimental data. New characterizations were thus developed for both capillary and slit die experiments. They were based on the dependency of the slip velocity on the local flow gap. Contrarily to the Mooney method, they provided physically acceptable results and led to a power-law relationship between wall slip, wall shear stress and local geometry of the flow.  相似文献

This paper develops a theoretical analysis of a Bingham fluid in slipping squeeze flow. The flow field decomposition consists in combining a central extensional flow zone in the plane of symmetry and shear flow zones near the plates. It is also considered that the slipping zone is located around a central sticking zone as previously shown from experiments. It is assumed that the shear stress at the plates is constant in the slipping zone and equals a fixed friction yield value. The squeeze force required to compress a Bingham fluid under the slipping behaviour as well as the radial evolution of the transition point between both sticking and slipping zones are finally determined.  相似文献

A hypersonic shock-tunnel flow around an axisymmetric model of a planetary entry probe is analyzed. Planar laser-induced fluorescence is applied to measure both the velocity and the rotational temperature everywhere in the central plane of the flow field. The experimental test case is compared to simulations using the direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method. While the Mach 9.7 flow at a freestream Reynolds number based on the model diameter of 35,000 is chemically frozen, effects of thermal non-equilibrium and localized rarefaction cannot be neglected. DSMC and measurements agree well within the outer wake, but disagree close to the centerline, where in particular the measured velocity is higher than values predicted by the simulations. The experimental results indicated a shorter recirculation region and increased local fluctuations in the free shear layer upstream of the wake recompression shock when compared to the simulation. These effects are attributed to incipient transition, which is not observed in the simulations, as the simulations did not model the effects of freestream fluctuations. Furthermore, measured and simulated vorticities are compared with theoretical predictions.  相似文献

Summary The incompressible slip flow past a finite flat plate at zero incidence and at low Reynolds numbers is treated in the Oseen approximation. An analytical expression of the shear stress at the wall is obtained by the integral Fourier transform method. The drag coefficient, the velocity perturbations and the thermal field are numerically evaluated.
