We demonstrate a high efficiency 1083 nm fibre amplifier tandem pumped by a 1030 nm fibre laser. The 1030 nm fibre laser is coupled into a 25 m long single clad ytterbium doped fibre via a high power wave division multiplexer to core pump the 1083 nm signal laser. An output power of 4.5 W and a power conversion efficiency of 76.6% are achieved without power-roll. The performance of the amplifier can be improved by optimizing the gain fibre length.  相似文献

A high-power Er,Yb double-clad ribbon fiber laser pumped by a 9-diode-bar pump module is reported. The laser yielded 102 W of continuous-wave output at 1566 nm for a launched pump power of 244 W, corresponding to a slope efficiency of ~ 44% with respect to launched pump power. Tunable operation was achieved using a simple external feedback cavity with a diffraction grating and the operating wavelength could be tuned from 1533 nm to 1567 nm. Temperature distribution in the ribbon fiber geometry and prospects of power scaling will be discussed.  相似文献

Erbium-ytterbium co-doped fiber amplifier with wavelength-tuned Yb-band loop resonator is presented. The amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) from Yb ions is utilized to stimulate a laser emission at several wavelengths from the 1 μm band in the 1550 nm amplifier. The wavelength of this lasing is tuned by introducing a fiber Bragg grating (FBG). The results show, that the overall efficiency of the amplifier at nominal 1550 nm wavelength can be increased by introducing a feedback loop with 1040 nm and 1050 nm FBG. This loop also protects the Er/Yb amplifier from parasitic lasing at 1 μm and allows significant output power scaling without risk of self-pulsing.  相似文献

An efficient diode laser pumped Cs vapor amplifier has been demonstrated. Using a 2 cm long Cs vapor cell pumped by an 18 W laser diode array, an amplification factor of 145 for low power Cs laser radiation was achieved. Such an amplifier or chain of amplifiers can significantly simplify the use of multiple pump sources for scaling the output power of alkali lasers.  相似文献

A 1.94 μm Tm-doped fiber laser pumped tunable single-longitudinal-mode Ho:YLF laser with double etalons was reported for the first time. The maximum single-longitudinal-mode output power of 345 mW at 2051.6 nm was achieved at the absorbed pump power of 11.9 W, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 5.5% and an optical conversion efficiency of 2.9%. By regulating the angle of the F–P etalons, the output wavelength of the laser can be tuned from 2051.6 nm to 2063.3 nm. The single-longitude-mode Ho:YLF laser operating at 2 μm can be used as the seed laser source of coherent Doppler lidar, differential absorption lidar and so on.  相似文献

In this paper, we report on a large-mode-area double-clad 980 nm Yb-doped photonic crystal fiber (PCF) amplifier. In the experiment, an output power of 1.21 W at 980 nm with 2.5 nm bandwidth has been yielded when the PCF length was 40 cm. Through frequency doubling the 980 nm amplified laser with a BIBO crystal, an output power of 51 mW at 490 nm has been generated.  相似文献

A LuAG shaped rod crystal, doped with Yb3+, has been grown by μ-PD technique. The crystal diameter was about 3 mm and the length around 130 mm. A complete spectroscopic investigation in the temperature range 10–300 K is reported and data has been utilized to model the laser behavior. In the laser experiment the Yb:LuAG sample was placed in an X cavity and pumped longitudinally obtaining an efficient CW laser emission. The Yb:LuAG laser yielded a maximum output power of 23 mW with a slope efficiency of 32% and a threshold around 35 mW, at lasing wavelength of 1030 nm. No significant depolarization effects were observed, indicating a crystal growth with negligible stress. The output beam profile was investigated, yielding M2  1.0 in both directions, further confirming the good optical quality of the sample.  相似文献

Thulium doped fiber amplifier is a good candidate for S, and S+ band. This paper demonstrated a three pump pumping scheme for thulium doped fiber amplifier with 1050 nm co propagating pump and 1400 nm and 800 nm counter propagating pumps with a total pumping power 600 mW. This configuration yields up to 33 dB gain in 20 nm region from 1460 nm to 1480 nm, with noise figure <4 dB. To the knowledge of authors it is the highest gain achieved by thulium-doped amplifier in a single pass configuration with good power conversion efficiency.  相似文献

A compact intra-cavity pumped low threshold continuous-wave Ho:Sc2SiO5 laser is reported. The characteristics of output wavelength tuning are investigated by use a intra-cavity briefringent (BF) filter. A wavelength tunable range of 140 nm from 2020 to 2160 nm is achieved. For the free-running mode, the laser slope efficiency is 24.8%, when the output central wavelength is 2110 nm. The laser threshold is about 820 mW of incident pump power. With the BF filter, a maximum output power of 870 mW is obtained at the incident pump power of 5 W, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 20.3%. The characteristics of output wavelength verse the crystal temperature are also investigated.  相似文献

A compact erbium-doped ring-shaped fiber laser suitable for fiber-optic sensing applications has been developed. The fiber laser utilized a tunable fiber Fabry–Perot filter as the tuning element and had a moderate milli-Watt level power output over almost the whole tuning range from 1530 to 1595 nm with a power fluctuation of 0.15 dB. High repetition rate scanning of laser operation over the whole tuning range was achieved at rates of up to 200 Hz. Moreover, the performance of the ring-shaped fiber laser configured with a high-concentration erbium-doped fiber was investigated for its larger wavelength tunability of over 100 nm. Output power characteristics of this ring-shaped fiber laser were also investigated when it worked in a scanning mode. A distorted power wavelength dependence, as well as some pulsing phenomenon were observed in scanning mode.  相似文献

A dual-stage L-band erbium-doped fiber amplifier with a flat gain bandwidth over 36 nm is demonstrated using pump distribution technique. The pump power was distributed to two stages depending on the splitting ratio and the length of erbium-doped fiber that was used for this configuration. Both parameters are the key components for achieving a substantially flat gain response throughout the L-band region ranging from 1570 nm to 1605 nm. Although the input signal power was varied from ? 30 dBm to 0 dBm, gain of 17 dB with slight variations of less than 1.5 dB and a noise figure of less than 6.7 dB were achieved. All the results obtained show better performances when comparison was made with the conventional single-stage L-band optical amplifier.  相似文献

A simple and wavelength-switchable fiber laser consisting mainly of an Erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) which provides the optical gain and an 1 × 40 (1 input channel to 40 output channels) arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) that supports wavelength selection is reported. The lasering behavior in wavelength-switchable fiber laser is investigated experimentally. One can obtain wavelength-switchable single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) single wavelength laser with different wavelength by changing different channel of the AWG as the wavelength selection element. Lasering wavelength hopping in dual wavelength laser operation for low pump power is experimentally observed. The wavelength hopping and the output power of the laser is controlled by using a variable optical attenuator (VOA). The wavelength hopping operation is eliminated for high pump power. One can obtain switchable dual wavelength laser with different wavelength by selecting different two channels of the AWG. The output laser exhibits a good performance having a high sidemode suppression ratio (SMSR), narrow line-width and symmetrical spectrum.  相似文献

We demonstrate a 980 nm single-mode Yb-doped fiber laser with a 946 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser used as the pump source. The experimental arrangement exploited a 36.5 cm length of fiber and used the output from both ends of the cavity, providing a total average output power of 100 mW with a slope efficiency of 38%. In order to increase the coupling efficiency and the practicability of the fiber laser, another experimental setup with single ended output was studied, producing an average output power of 80 mW from a fiber length of 23.5 cm. The pulse duration is 10 ns at a repetition frequency of 16 kHz. The linewidth of the laser is 4 nm, ranging from 977 to 981 nm.  相似文献

A dual-wavelength fiber laser with a narrow-linewidth, based on a P-F fiber filter has been proposed. Polarization-maintaining fiber Bragg grating (PM-FBG) and a F-P fiber filter are introduced based on the traditional fiber laser. PM-FBG is used as the wavelength selection device. The fiber F-P filter consists of two optical couplers and a section of un-pumped erbium-doped fiber (EDF). Due to the delay of cavity and the loss generated by the EDF, the filter has comb spectral response. The incorporation of the fiber F-P filter leads to the suppression of undesirable modes. At the room temperature, under 980 nm LD pumped, the maximum output of the two wavelengths is respectively ?2.259 dBm and 0.568 dBm, with the 3-dB bandwidth separately 0.1 nm and 0.14 nm, realizing the narrow linewidth and dual-wavelength output.  相似文献

A new and energy-efficient tie-type architecture for stable and wavelength-tunable semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA)-based fiber ring laser is proposed and experimentally investigated. Here, the tie-type laser configuration is constructed by two Sagnac fiber loops. The proposed laser also can extend the lasing wavelength to longer wavelength (L-band) even only the C-band SOA is used. The proposed tie-type architecture has >5 dB higher output optical power at bias current of 80 mA when compared with the single ring SOA-based fiber laser. In this measurement, the output power, wavelength tuning range, side-mode suppression ratio (SMSR) and output stability of proposed fiber laser have also been analyzed and discussed.  相似文献

An efficient erbium/ytterbium co-doped fiber amplifier (EYDFA) is demonstrated by using a dual-stage partial double pass structure with a band pass filter (BPF). The amplifier achieves the maximum small signal gain of 56 dB and the corresponding noise figure of 4.66 dB at 1536 nm with an input signal power and total pump power of ?50 dBm and 140 mW, respectively. Compared with a conventional single-stage amplifier, the maximum gain enhancement of 16.99 dB is obtained at 1544 nm with the corresponding noise figure is improved by 2 dB. The proposed amplifier structure only uses a single pump source with a partial double pass scheme to provide a high gain and dual-stage structure to provide the low noise figure.  相似文献

The stimulated emission cross-section of Nd:GGG crystal in 938 nm transition was measured by the amplifier approach. It is 2.3×10?20 cm2. A quasi-continuous-wave diode pumped, actively Q-switched Nd:GGG laser operating at 938 nm was demonstrated. Pumped by laser diodes with 900 W peak power and 300 μs pulse duration, it generated 168 mJ energy in long pulse mode. The slope efficiency was 36%. Q-switched by a KD?P Pockels cell, 41 mJ output pulse energy was obtained. The pulse duration and peak power were 120 ns and 340 kW, respectively. The optical to optical efficiency was 7%.  相似文献

We present a 2.09 μm single-longitudinal-mode sandwich-type YAG/Ho:YAG/YAG ceramic laser pumped by a Tm-doped fiber laser for the first time. A pair of F-P etalons was used to achieve tunable single-longitudinal-mode operation. The maximum single-longitudinal-mode output power of 530 mW at 2091.4 nm was obtained with an absorbed pump power of 8.06 W, corresponding to an optical conversion efficiency of 6.6% and a slope efficiency of 12.7%. Wavelength tunable was achieved by tuning the angle of etalons and the wavelength could be tuned from 2091.1 nm to 2092.1 nm, corresponding to a tuning frequency of 68 GHz. The M2 factor was measured to be 1.23.  相似文献

Seeding high power fiber amplifier employing multi-tone fiber laser is an effective approach to suppress stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS). In this paper, a two-stage 1064 nm high power fiber amplification system was set up. Single-, two- and three-tone fiber lasers were employed. SBS threshold powers and maximum output powers of the multi-tone cases are enhanced compared with the single-tone case. The multi-tone amplifiers also show comparable optical-to-optical efficiency to the single-tone amplifier. To demonstrate and validate coherence property of the two multi-tone fiber amplifiers, the output laser beams of the amplifiers were self-interfered in our self-made coherent beam combining system. The laser beams of the multi-tone cases showed good coherence property comparable to the single-tone case, which implied that the high power output laser light of the multi-tone fiber amplifiers could be used for coherent beam combining.  相似文献

All passively mode locked erbium-doped fiber laser with a zirconium host is demonstrated. The fiber laser utilizes the Non-Linear Polarization Rotation (NPR) technique with an inexpensive fiber-based Polarization Beam Splitter (PBS) as the mode-locking element. A 2 m crystalline Zirconia–Yttria–Alumino-silicate fiber doped with erbium ions (Zr–Y–Al-EDF) acts as the gain medium and generates an Amplified Spontaneous Emission (ASE) spectrum from 1500 nm to 1650 nm. The generated mode-locked pulses have a spectrum ranging from 1548 nm to more than 1605 nm, as well as a 3-dB bandwidth of 12 nm. The mode-locked pulse train has an average output power level of 17 mW with a calculated peak power of 1.24 kW and energy per pulse of approximately 730 pJ. The spectrum also exhibits a Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of 50 dB as well as a repetition rate of 23.2 MHz. The system is very stable and shows little power fluctuation, in addition to being repeatable.  相似文献
