For any prime p and positive integers c, d there is up to isomorphism a unique p-group \({G_{d}^{c}(p)}\) of least order having any (finite) p-group G with rank \({d(G) \le d}\) and Frattini class \({c_{p}(G) \le c}\) as epimorphic image. Here \({c_{p}(G) = n}\) is the least positive integer such that G has a central series of length n with all factors being elementary. This “disposition” p-group \({G_{d}^{c}(p)}\) has been examined quite intensively in the literature, sometimes controversially. The objective of this paper is to present a summary of the known facts, and to add some new results. For instance we show that for \({G = G_{d}^{c}(p)}\) the centralizer \({C_{G}(x) = \langle Z(G), x \rangle}\) whenever \({x \in G}\) is outside the Frattini subgroup, and that for odd p and \({d \ge 2}\) the group \({E = G_{d}^{c+1}(p)/(G_{d}^{c+1}(p))^{p^{c}}}\) is a distinguished Schur cover of G with \({E/Z(E) \cong G}\). We also have a fibre product construction of \({G_{d}^{c+1}(p)}\) in terms of \({G = G_{d}^{c}(p)}\) which might be of interest for Galois theory.  相似文献

Let \({\mathbb{K}}\) be a field and \({S=\mathbb{K}[x_1,\dots,x_n]}\) be the polynomial ring in n variables over \({\mathbb{K}}\). Let G be a graph with n vertices. Assume that \({I=I(G)}\) is the edge ideal of G and \({J=J(G)}\) is its cover ideal. We prove that \({{\rm sdepth}(J)\geq n-\nu_{o}(G)}\) and \({{\rm sdepth}(S/J)\geq n-\nu_{o}(G)-1}\), where \({\nu_{o}(G)}\) is the ordered matching number of G. We also prove the inequalities \({{\rmsdepth}(J^k)\geq {\rm depth}(J^k)}\) and \({{\rm sdepth}(S/J^k)\geq {\rmdepth}(S/J^k)}\), for every integer \({k\gg 0}\), when G is a bipartite graph. Moreover, we provide an elementary proof for the known inequality reg\({(S/I)\leq \nu_{o}(G)}\).  相似文献

For any given two graphs G and H, the notation \(F\rightarrow \) (GH) means that for any red–blue coloring of all the edges of F will create either a red subgraph isomorphic to G or a blue subgraph isomorphic to H. A graph F is a Ramsey (GH)-minimal graph if \(F\rightarrow \) (GH) but \(F-e\nrightarrow (G,H)\), for every \(e \in E(F)\). The class of all Ramsey (GH)-minimal graphs is denoted by \(\mathcal {R}(G,H)\). In this paper, we construct some infinite families of trees belonging to \(\mathcal {R}(P_3,P_n)\), for \(n=8\) and 9. In particular, we give an algorithm to obtain an infinite family of trees belonging to \(\mathcal {R}(P_3,P_n)\), for \(n\ge 10\).  相似文献

A sufficient criterion for the map \({C_{A, B}(S) = ASB}\) to be supercyclic on certain algebras of operators on Banach spaces is given. If T is an operator satisfying the Supercyclicity Criterion on a Hilbert space H, then the linear map \({C_{T}(V) = TVT^*}\) is shown to be norm-supercyclic on the algebra \({\mathcal{K}(H)}\) of all compact operators, COT-supercyclic on the real subspace \({\mathcal{S}(H)}\) of all self-adjoint operators and weak*-supercyclic on \({\mathcal{L}(H)}\) of all bounded operators on H. Examples including operators of the form \({C_{B_w, F_\mu}}\) are provided, where Bw and \({F_\mu}\) are respectively backward and forward shifts on Banach sequence spaces.  相似文献

If G is a compact Lie group endowed with a left invariant metric g, then G acts via pullback by isometries on each eigenspace of the associated Laplace operator \(\Delta _g\). We establish algebraic criteria for the existence of left invariant metrics g on G such that each eigenspace of \(\Delta _g\), regarded as the real vector space of the corresponding real eigenfunctions, is irreducible under the action of G. We prove that generic left invariant metrics on the Lie groups \(G={ SU}(2)\times \cdots \times { SU}(2)\times T\), where T is a (possibly trivial) torus, have the property just described. The same holds for quotients of such groups G by discrete central subgroups. In particular, it also holds for \({ SO}(3)\), \({ U}(2)\), \({ SO}(4)\).  相似文献

A subgroup H of a finite group G is quasinormal in G if it permutes with every subgroup of G. A subgroup H of a finite group G is \(\mathfrak {F}_{hq}\)-supplemented in G if G has a quasinormal subgroup N such that HN is a Hall subgroup of G and \((H\cap N)H_{G}/ H_{G} \le Z_{\mathfrak {F}}(G/H_{G})\), where \(H_{G}\) is the core of H in G and \({Z}_{\mathfrak {F}} (G/H_{G})\) is the \(\mathfrak {F}\)-hypercenter of \({G/H}_{G}\). This paper concerns the structure of a finite group G under the assumption that some subgroups of G are \(\mathfrak {F}_{hq}\)-supplemented in G.  相似文献

Let \({ \mathcal {F}}\) be a saturated formation and G a finite group such that \({N_{G} (H^{\mathcal {F}})/C_{G} (H^{\mathcal {F}})\cong Inn(H^{\mathcal {F}})}\) for every subgroup H of G. If the minimal non-\({ \mathcal {F}}\)-group is soluble, then \({G \in \mathcal {F}}\).  相似文献

Consider an arithmetic group \({\mathbf{G}(O_S)}\), where \({\mathbf{G}}\) is an affine group scheme with connected, simply connected absolutely almost simple generic fiber, defined over the ring of S-integers O S of a number field K with respect to a finite set of places S. For each \({n \in \mathbb{N}}\), let \({R_n(\mathbf{G}(O_S))}\) denote the number of irreducible complex representations of \({\mathbf{G}(O_S)}\) of dimension at most n. The degree of representation growth \({\alpha(\mathbf{G}(O_S)) = \lim_{n \rightarrow\infty}\log R_n(\mathbf{G}(O_S)) / \log n}\) is finite if and only if \({\mathbf{G}(O_S)}\) has the weak Congruence Subgroup Property. We establish that for every \({\mathbf{G}(O_S)}\) with the weak Congruence Subgroup Property the invariant \({\alpha(\mathbf{G}(O_S))}\) is already determined by the absolute root system of \({\mathbf{G}}\). To show this we demonstrate that the abscissae of convergence of the representation zeta functions of such groups are invariant under base extensions \({K{\subset}L}\). We deduce from our result a variant of a conjecture of Larsen and Lubotzky regarding the representation growth of irreducible lattices in higher rank semi-simple groups. In particular, this reduces Larsen and Lubotzky’s conjecture to Serre’s conjecture on the weak Congruence Subgroup Property, which it refines.  相似文献

A digraph \({\overrightarrow{\mathcal{Pc}}(G)}\) is said to be the directed power graph on the conjugacy classes of a group G, if its vertices are the non-trivial conjugacy classes of G, and there is an arc from vertex C to C′ if and only if \({C \neq C'}\) and \({C \subseteqq {C'}^{m}}\) for some positive integer \({m > 0}\). Moreover, the simple graph \({\mathcal{Pc}(G)}\) is said to be the (undirected) power graph on the conjugacy classes of a group G if its vertices are the conjugacy classes of G and two distinct vertices C and C′ are adjacent in \({\mathcal{Pc}(G)}\) if one is a subset of a power of the other. In this paper, we find some connections between algebraic properties of some groups and properties of the associated graph.  相似文献

A group G is called capable if there is a group H such that \({G \cong H/Z(H)}\) is isomorphic to the group of inner automorphisms of H. We consider the situation that G is a finite capable p-group for some prime p. Suppose G has rank \({d(G) \ge 2}\) and Frattini class \({c \ge 1}\), which by definition is the length of a shortest central series of G with all factors being elementary abelian. There is up to isomorphism a unique largest p-group \({G_d^c}\) with rank d and Frattini class c, and G is an epimorphic image of \({G_d^c}\). We prove that this \({G_d^c}\) is capable; more precisely, we have \({G_d^c \cong G_d^{c+1}/Z(G_d^{c+1})}\).  相似文献

Let H be a real algebraic group acting equivariantly with finitely many orbits on a real algebraic manifold X and a real algebraic bundle \({\mathcal {E}}\) on X. Let \(\mathfrak {h}\) be the Lie algebra of H. Let \(\mathcal {S}(X,{\mathcal {E}})\) be the space of Schwartz sections of \({\mathcal {E}}\). We prove that \(\mathfrak {h}\mathcal {S}(X,{\mathcal {E}})\) is a closed subspace of \(\mathcal {S}(X,{\mathcal {E}})\) of finite codimension. We give an application of this result in the case when H is a real spherical subgroup of a real reductive group G. We deduce an equivalence of two old conjectures due to Casselman: the automatic continuity and the comparison conjecture for zero homology. Namely, let \(\pi \) be a Casselman–Wallach representation of G and V be the corresponding Harish–Chandra module. Then the natural morphism of coinvariants \(V_{\mathfrak {h}}\rightarrow \pi _{\mathfrak {h}}\) is an isomorphism if and only if any linear \(\mathfrak {h}\)-invariant functional on V is continuous in the topology induced from \(\pi \). The latter statement is known to hold in two important special cases: if H includes a symmetric subgroup, and if H includes the nilradical of a minimal parabolic subgroup of G.  相似文献

For a finite non cyclic group G, let γ(G) be the smallest integer k such that G contains k proper subgroups H 1, . . . , H k with the property that every element of G is contained in \({H_i^g}\) for some \({i \in \{1,\dots,k\}}\) and \({g \in G.}\) We prove that for every n ≥ 2, there exists a finite solvable group G with γ(G) = n.  相似文献

We study the local Hecke algebra \({\mathcal{H}_{G}(K)}\) for \({G = {\rm GL}_{n}}\) and K a non-archimedean local field of characteristic zero. We show that for \({G = {\rm GL}_{2}}\) and any two such fields K and L, there is a Morita equivalence \({\mathcal{H}_{G}(K) \sim_{M} \mathcal{H}_{G}(L)}\), by using the Bernstein decomposition of the Hecke algebra and determining the intertwining algebras that yield the Bernstein blocks up to Morita equivalence. By contrast, we prove that for \({G = {\rm GL}_{n}}\), there is an algebra isomorphism \({\mathcal{H}_{G}(K) \cong \mathcal{H}_{G}(L)}\) which is an isometry for the induced \({L^1}\)-norm if and only if there is a field isomorphism \({K \cong L}\).  相似文献

Let G be a finite group. A subgroup H of G is s-permutable in G if H permutes with every Sylow subgroup of G. A subgroup H of G is called an \(\mathcal {SSH}\)-subgroup in G if G has an s-permutable subgroup K such that \(H^{sG} = HK\) and \(H^g \cap N_K (H) \leqslant H\), for all \(g \in G\), where \(H^{sG}\) is the intersection of all s-permutable subgroups of G containing H. We study the structure of finite groups under the assumption that the maximal or the minimal subgroups of Sylow subgroups of some normal subgroups of G are \(\mathcal {SSH}\)-subgroups in G. Several recent results from the literature are improved and generalized.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group possessing a Carter subgroup K. Denote by \(\mathbf {h}(G)\) the Fitting height of G, by \(\mathbf {h}^*(G)\) the generalized Fitting height of G, and by \(\ell (K)\) the number of composition factors of K, that is, the number of prime divisors of the order of K with multiplicities. In 1969, E. C. Dade proved that if G is solvable, then \(\mathbf {h}(G)\) is bounded in terms of \(\ell (K)\). In this paper, we show that \(\mathbf {h}^*(G)\) is bounded in terms of \(\ell (K)\) as well.  相似文献

Set \({T=N^{\frac{1}{3}-\epsilon}}\). It is proved that for all but \({\ll TL^{-H},\,H > 0}\), exceptional prime numbers \({k\leq T}\) and almost all integers b 1, b 2 co-prime to k, almost all integers \({n\sim N}\) satisfying \({n\equiv b_{1}+b_{2}(mod\,k)}\) can be written as the sum of two primes p 1 and p 2 satisfying \({p_{i}\equiv b_{i}(mod\,k),\,i=1,2}\). For prime numbers \({k\leq N^{\frac{5}{24}-\epsilon}}\), this result is even true for all but \({\ll (\log\,N)^{D}}\) primes k and all integers b 1, b 2 co-prime to k.  相似文献

In this note, global information about a finite group is obtained by assuming that certain subgroups of some given order are S-semipermutable. Recall that a subgroup H of a finite group G is said to be S-semipermutable if H permutes with all Sylow subgroups of G of order coprime to \({\lvert H\rvert}\). We prove that for a fixed prime p, a given Sylow p-subgroup P of a finite group G, and a power d of p dividing \({\lvert G\rvert}\) such that \({1\le d < \lvert P\rvert}\), if \({H\,{\cap}\, O^p(G)}\) is S-semipermutable in \({O^p(G)}\) for all normal subgroups H of P with \({\lvert H\rvert=d}\), then either G is p-supersoluble or else \({\lvert P\,{\cap}\, {O^p(G)}\rvert > d}\). This extends the main result of Guo and Isaacs in (Arch. Math. 105:215–222 2015). We derive some theorems that extend some known results concerning S-semipermutable subgroups.  相似文献

Given a finite group G, we say that G has property \(\mathcal P_{k}\) if every set of k distinct irreducible character degrees of G is setwise relatively prime. In this paper, we show that if G is a finite nonsolvable group satisfying \(\mathcal P_{4}, \)then G has at most 8 distinct character degrees. Combining with work of D. Benjamin on finite solvable groups, we deduce that a finite group G has at most 9 distinct character degrees if G has property \(\mathcal P_{4}\) and this bound is sharp.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce the probability that a subgroup H of a finite group G can be normal in G, the subgroup normality degree of H in G, as the ratio of the number of all pairs \({(h, g)\in H\times G}\) such that \({h^g\in H}\) by |H||G|. We give some upper and lower bounds for this probability and obtain the upper bound \({\frac{8}{15}}\) for nontrivial subgroups of finite simple groups. In addition, we obtain explicit formulas for subgroup normality degrees of some particular classes of finite groups.  相似文献
