We prove the existence of positive \(\omega \)-periodic solutions for the double-delayed differential equation
$$\begin{aligned} x^{\prime }(t)-a(t)g(x(t))x(t)=-\lambda (b(t)f(x(t-\tau (t))+c(t)h(x(t-\nu (t))), \end{aligned}$$
where \(\lambda \) is a positive parameter, \(a,b,c,\tau ,\nu \in C(\mathbb {R}, \mathbb {R})\) are \(\omega \)-periodic functions with \(a,b\ge 0,a,b\not \equiv 0,f,g,h\in C([0,\infty ),\mathbb {R})\) with \(g>0\) on \((0,\infty ),\) \(\ h\) is bounded, f is either superlinear or sublinear at \(\infty \) and could change sign.

This paper is concerned with the following Kirchhoff-type equation
$$\begin{aligned} -\left( a+b\int _{\mathbb {R}^3}|\nabla {u}|^2\mathrm {d}x\right) \triangle u+V(x)u=f(x, u), \quad x\in \mathbb {R}^{3}, \end{aligned}$$
where \(V\in \mathcal {C}(\mathbb {R}^{3}, (0,\infty ))\), \(f\in \mathcal {C}({\mathbb {R}}^{3}\times \mathbb {R}, \mathbb {R})\), V(x) and f(xt) are periodic or asymptotically periodic in x. Using weaker assumptions \(\lim _{|t|\rightarrow \infty }\frac{\int _0^tf(x, s)\mathrm {d}s}{|t|^3}=\infty \) uniformly in \(x\in \mathbb {R}^3\) and
$$\begin{aligned}&\left[ \frac{f(x,\tau )}{\tau ^3}-\frac{f(x,t\tau )}{(t\tau )^3} \right] \mathrm {sign}(1-t) +\theta _0V(x)\frac{|1-t^2|}{(t\tau )^2}\ge 0, \quad \\&\quad \forall x\in \mathbb {R}^3,\ t>0, \ \tau \ne 0 \end{aligned}$$
with a constant \(\theta _0\in (0,1)\), instead of the common assumption \(\lim _{|t|\rightarrow \infty }\frac{\int _0^tf(x, s)\mathrm {d}s}{|t|^4}=\infty \) uniformly in \(x\in \mathbb {R}^3\) and the usual Nehari-type monotonic condition on \(f(x,t)/|t|^3\), we establish the existence of Nehari-type ground state solutions of the above problem, which generalizes and improves the recent results of Qin et al. (Comput Math Appl 71:1524–1536, 2016) and Zhang and Zhang (J Math Anal Appl 423:1671–1692, 2015). In particular, our results unify asymptotically cubic and super-cubic nonlinearities.

In this paper, we study weak solutions for the following type of stochastic differential equation where \(b: [0,\infty ) \times \mathbb {R}^{d}\rightarrow \mathbb {R}^{d}\) is a measurable drift, \(W=(W_{t})_{t \ge 0}\) is a d-dimensional Brownian motion and \((s,x)\in [0,\infty ) \times \mathbb {R}^{d}\) is the starting point. A solution \(X=(X_t)_{t \ge s}\) for the above SDE is called a Brownian motion with time-dependent drift b starting from (sx). Under the assumption that |b| belongs to the forward-Kato class \(\mathcal {F}\mathcal {K}_{d-1}^{\alpha }\) for some \(\alpha \in (0,1/2)\), we prove that the above SDE has a unique weak solution for every starting point \((s,x)\in [0,\infty ) \times \mathbb {R}^{d}\).

Taking any \(p > 1\), we consider the asymptotically p-linear problem
$$\begin{aligned} \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} - {{\mathrm{div}}}(a(x,u,\nabla u)) + A_t(x,u,\nabla u)\ = \ \lambda ^\infty |u|^{p-2}u + g^\infty (x,u) &{}\quad \hbox {in}\;\Omega ,\\ u\ = \ 0 &{}\quad \hbox {on}\;\partial \Omega , \end{array} \right. \end{aligned}$$
where \(\Omega \) is a bounded domain in \(\mathbb R^N\), \(N\ge 2\), \(A(x,t,\xi )\) is a real function on \(\Omega \times \mathbb R\times \mathbb R^N\) which grows with power p with respect to \(\xi \) and has partial derivatives \(A_t(x,t,\xi ) = \frac{\partial A}{\partial t}(x,t,\xi )\), \(a(x,t,\xi ) = \nabla _\xi A(x,t,\xi )\). If \(A(x,t,\xi ) \rightarrow A^\infty (x,t)\) and \(\frac{g^\infty (x,t)}{|t|^{p-1}} \rightarrow 0\) as \(|t| \rightarrow +\infty \), suitable assumptions, variational methods and either the cohomological index theory or its related pseudo-index one, allow us to prove the existence of multiple nontrivial bounded solutions in the non-resonant case, i.e. if \(\lambda ^\infty \) is not an eigenvalue of the operator associated to \(\nabla _\xi A^\infty (x,\xi )\). In particular, while in [14] the model problem \(A(x,t,\xi ) = \mathcal{A}(x,t) |\xi |^p\) with \(p > N\) is studied, here our goal is twofold: extending such results not only to a more general family of functions \(A(x,t,\xi )\), but also to the more difficult case \(1 < p \le N\).

In this paper, we study the existence and multiplicity of homoclinic solutions for the following second-order p(t)-Laplacian–Hamiltonian systems
$$\frac{{\rm d}}{{\rm d}t}(|\dot{u}(t)|^{p(t)-2}\dot{u}(t))-a(t)|u(t)|^{p(t)-2}u(t)+\nabla W(t,u(t))=0,$$
where \({t \in \mathbb{R}}\), \({u \in \mathbb{R}^n}\), \({p \in C(\mathbb{R},\mathbb{R})}\) with p(t) > 1, \({a \in C(\mathbb{R},\mathbb{R})}\), \({W\in C^1(\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{R}^n,\mathbb{R})}\) and \({\nabla W(t,u)}\) is the gradient of W(t, u) in u. The point is that, assuming that a(t) is bounded in the sense that there are constants \({0<\tau_1<\tau_2<\infty}\) such that \({\tau_1\leq a(t)\leq \tau_2 }\) for all \({t \in \mathbb{R}}\) and W(t, u) is of super-p(t) growth or sub-p(t) growth as \({|u|\rightarrow \infty}\), we provide two new criteria to ensure the existence and multiplicity of homoclinic solutions, respectively. Recent results in the literature are extended and significantly improved.

We prove the existence of infinitely many solutions for
$$\begin{aligned} - \Delta u + V(x) u = f(u) \quad \text { in } \mathbb {R}^N, \quad u \in H^1(\mathbb {R}^N), \end{aligned}$$
where V(x) satisfies \(\lim _{|x| \rightarrow \infty } V(x) = V_\infty >0\) and some conditions. We require conditions on f(u) only around 0 and at \(\infty \).

In this paper we consider the following nonhomogeneous semilinear fractional Laplacian problem
$$\begin{aligned} {\left\{ \begin{array}{ll} (-\Delta )^s u+u=\lambda (f(x,u)+h(x)) \,\, \text {in}\,\, \mathbb {R}^N,\\ u\in H^s(\mathbb {R}^N), u>0\,\, \text {in}\,\, \mathbb {R}^N, \end{array}\right. } \end{aligned}$$
where \(\lambda >0\) and \(\lim _{|x|\rightarrow \infty }f(x,u)=\overline{f}(u)\) uniformly on any compact subset of \([0,\infty )\). We prove that under suitable conditions on f and h, there exists \(0<\lambda ^*<+\infty \) such that the problem has at least two positive solutions if \(\lambda \in (0,\lambda ^*)\), a unique positive solution if \(\lambda =\lambda ^*\), and no solution if \(\lambda >\lambda ^*\). We also obtain the bifurcation of positive solutions for the problem at \((\lambda ^*,u^*)\) and further analyse the set of positive solutions.

Let \(p\in (1,\infty )\) and \(q\in [1,\infty )\). In this article, the authors characterize the Triebel-Lizorkin space \({F}^{\alpha }_{p,q}(\mathbb {R}^{n})\) with smoothness order α ∈ (0, 2) via the Lusin-area function and the \(g_{\lambda }^{*}\)-function in terms of difference between f(x) and its ball average \(B_{t}f(x):=\frac 1{|B(x,t)|}{\int }_{B(x,t)}f(y)\,dy\) over the ball B(x, t) centered at \(x\in \mathbb {R}^{n}\) with radius t ∈ (0, 1). As an application, the authors obtain a series of characterizations of \(F^{\alpha }_{p,\infty }(\mathbb {R}^{n})\) via pointwise inequalities, involving ball averages, in spirit close to Haj?asz gradients, here some interesting phenomena naturally appear that, in the end-point case when α = 2, some of these pointwise inequalities characterize the Triebel-Lizorkin spaces \(F^{2}_{p,2}(\mathbb {R}^{n})\), while not \(F^{2}_{p,\infty }(\mathbb {R}^{n})\), and that some of other obtained pointwise characterizations are only known to hold true for \(F^{\alpha }_{p,\infty }(\mathbb {R}^{n})\) with \(p\in (1,\infty )\), α ∈ (0, 2) or α ∈ (n/p, 2). In particular, some new pointwise characterizations of Haj?asz-Sobolev spaces via ball averages are obtained. Since these new characterizations only use ball averages, they can be used as starting points for developing a theory of Triebel-Lizorkin spaces with smoothness orders not less than 1 on spaces of homogeneous type.  相似文献

In this paper we address the regularity issue of weak solution for the following linear drift–diffusion system with pressure
$$\begin{aligned} \partial _t u + b\cdot \nabla u -\Delta u + \nabla p = 0,\quad \mathrm {div}\,u=0,\quad u|_{t=0}(x)=u_0(x), \end{aligned}$$
where \(x\in \mathbb {R}^n\) and b is a given divergence-free vector field. Under some assumptions of the drift field b in the critical sense, and for the initial data \(u_0\in (L^2(\mathbb {R}^n))^n\), we prove that there exists a weak solution u(t) to this system such that u(t) for any time \(t>0\) is \(\alpha \)-Hölder continuous with \(\alpha \in (0,1)\). The proof of the Hölder regularity result utilizes a maximum-principle type method to improve the regularity of weak solution step by step.

Let A and B be non-negative self-adjoint operators in a separable Hilbert space such that their form sum C is densely defined. It is shown that the Trotter product formula holds for imaginary parameter values in the L 2-norm, that is, one has
$ \lim_{n\to+\infty} \int\limits^T_{-T} \left\|\left(e^{-itA/n}e^{-itB/n} \right)^nh - e^{-itC}h\right\|^2dt = 0 $
for each element h of the Hilbert space and any T > 0. This result is extended to the class of holomorphic Kato functions, to which the exponential function belongs. Moreover, for a class of admissible functions: \({\phi(\cdot),\psi(\cdot):{\mathbb R}_+ \longrightarrow {\mathbb C}}\), where \({{\mathbb R}_+ := [0,\infty)}\), satisfying in addition \({{\Re{\rm e}}\,(\phi(y))\ge 0, {\Im{\rm m}}\,(\phi(y) \le 0}\) and \({{\Im{\rm m}}\,(\psi(y)) \le 0}\) for \({y \in {\mathbb R}_+}\), we prove that
$ \,\mbox{\rm s-}\hspace{-2pt} \lim_{n\to\infty}(\phi(tA/n)\psi(tB/n))^n = e^{-itC} $
holds true uniformly on \({[0,T]\ni t}\) for any T > 0.

We consider the stochastic differential equation (SDE) of the form
$$\begin{array}{@{}rcl@{}} \left\{\begin{array}{rcl} dX^ x(t) &=& \sigma(X(t-)) dL(t) \\ X^ x(0)&=&x,\quad x\in{\mathbb{R}}^ d, \end{array}\right. \end{array} $$
where \(\sigma :{\mathbb {R}}^ d\to {\mathbb {R}}^ d\) is globally Lipschitz continuous and L={L(t):t≥0} is a Lévy process. Under this condition on σ it is well known that the above problem has a unique solution X. Let \((\mathcal {P}_{t})_{t\ge 0}\) be the Markovian semigroup associated to X defined by \(\left ({\mathcal {P}}_{t} f\right ) (x) := \mathbb {E} \left [ f(X^ x(t))\right ]\), t≥0, \(x\in {\mathbb {R}}^{d}\), \(f\in \mathcal {B}_{b}({\mathbb {R}}^{d})\). Let B be a pseudo–differential operator characterized by its symbol q. Fix \(\rho \in \mathbb {R}\). In this article we investigate under which conditions on σ, L and q there exist two constants γ>0 and C>0 such that
$$\left| B {\mathcal{P}}_{t} u \right|_{H^{\rho}_{2}} \le C \, t^{-\gamma} \,\left| u \right|_{H^{\rho}_{2}}, \quad \forall u \in {H^{\rho}_{2}}(\mathbb{R}^{d} ),\, t>0. $$

A string is a pair \({(L, \mathfrak{m})}\) where \({L \in[0, \infty]}\) and \({\mathfrak{m}}\) is a positive, possibly unbounded, Borel measure supported on [0, L]; we think of L as the length of the string and of \({\mathfrak{m}}\) as its mass density. To each string a differential operator acting in the space \({L^2(\mathfrak{m})}\) is associated. Namely, the Kre?n–Feller differential operator \({-D_{\mathfrak{m}}D_x}\) ; its eigenvalue equation can be written, e.g., as
$$f^{\prime}(x) + z \int_0^L f(y)\,d\mathfrak{m}(y) = 0,\quad x \in\mathbb R,\ f^{\prime}(0-) = 0.$$
A positive Borel measure τ on \({\mathbb R}\) is called a (canonical) spectral measure of the string \({\textsc S[L, \mathfrak{m}]}\) , if there exists an appropriately normalized Fourier transform of \({L^2(\mathfrak{m})}\) onto L 2(τ). In order that a given positive Borel measure τ is a spectral measure of some string, it is necessary that: (1) \({\int_{\mathbb R} \frac{d\tau(\lambda)}{1+|\lambda|} < \infty}\) . (2) Either \({{\rm supp} \tau \subseteq [0, \infty)}\) , or τ is discrete and has exactly one point mass in (?∞, 0). It is a deep result, going back to Kre?n in the 1950’s, that each measure with \({\int_{\mathbb R}\frac{d\tau(\lambda)}{1+|\lambda|} < \infty}\) and \({{\rm supp} \tau \subseteq [0, \infty)}\) is a spectral measure of some string, and that this string is uniquely determined by τ. The question remained open, which conditions characterize whether a measure τ with \({{\rm supp} \tau \not\subseteq [0, \infty)}\) is a spectral measure of some string. In the present paper, we answer this question. Interestingly, the solution is much more involved than the first guess might suggest.

Let \(\Omega := ( a,b ) \subset \mathbb {R}\), \(m\in L^{1} ( \Omega ) \) and \(\phi :\mathbb {R\rightarrow R}\) be an odd increasing homeomorphism. We consider the existence of positive solutions for problems of the form
$$\begin{aligned} \left\{ \begin{array} [c]{ll} -\phi ( u^{\prime } ) ^{\prime }=m ( x ) f ( u) &{}\quad \text {in } \Omega ,\\ u=0 &{}\quad \text {on } \partial \Omega , \end{array} \right. \end{aligned}$$
where \(f: [ 0,\infty ) \rightarrow [ 0,\infty ) \) is a continuous function which is, roughly speaking, superlinear with respect to \(\phi \). Our approach combines the Guo-Krasnoselski? fixed-point theorem with some estimates on related nonlinear problems. We mention that our results are new even in the case \(m\ge 0\).

We consider the model space \(\mathbb {M}^{n}_{K}\) of constant curvature K and dimension \(n\ge 1\) (Euclidean space for \(K=0\), sphere for \(K>0\) and hyperbolic space for \(K<0\)), and we show that given a function \(\rho :[0,\infty )\rightarrow [0, \infty )\) with \(\rho (0)=\mathrm {dist}(x,y)\) there exists a coadapted coupling (X(t), Y(t)) of Brownian motions on \(\mathbb {M}^{n}_{K}\) starting at (xy) such that \(\rho (t)=\mathrm {dist}(X(t),Y(t))\) for every \(t\ge 0\) if and only if \(\rho \) is continuous and satisfies for almost every \(t\ge 0\) the differential inequality
$$\begin{aligned} -(n-1)\sqrt{K}\tan \left( \tfrac{\sqrt{K}\rho (t)}{2}\right) \le \rho '(t)\le -(n-1)\sqrt{K}\tan \left( \tfrac{\sqrt{K}\rho (t)}{2}\right) +\tfrac{2(n-1)\sqrt{K}}{\sin (\sqrt{K}\rho (t))}. \end{aligned}$$
In other words, we characterize all coadapted couplings of Brownian motions on the model space \(\mathbb {M}^{n}_{K}\) for which the distance between the processes is deterministic. In addition, the construction of the coupling is explicit for every choice of \(\rho \) satisfying the above hypotheses.

Let \({{\|\cdot\|}}\) be a norm on \({\mathbb{R}^n}\) and \({\|.\|_*}\) be the dual norm. If \({\|\cdot\|}\) has a normalized 1-symmetric basis \({\{e_i\}_{i=1}^n}\) then the following inequalities hold: for all \({x,y\in \mathbb{R}^n}\), \({\|x\|\cdot\|y\|_*\le \max(\|x\|_1\cdot\|y\|_\infty,\|x\|_\infty\cdot\|y\|_1)}\) and if the basis is only 1-unconditional and normalized then for all \({x \in \mathbb{R}^n}\) , \({\|x\|+\|x\|_{*}\leq \|x\|_1+\|x\|_\infty}\) . We consider other geometric generalizations and apply these results to get, as a special case, estimates on best random embeddings of k-dimensional Hilbert spaces in the spaces of nuclear operators \({{\mathcal N}(K,K)}\) of dimension n 2, for all k = [λn 2] and 0 < λ < 1. We obtain universal upper bounds independent on the 1-symmetric norm \({\|.\|}\) for the products of pth moments
$\left( {\mathbb{E}} \left\|\sum_{i=1}^n f_i(\omega)\,e_i\right\|^p\cdot\, \mathbb {E} \left\|\sum_{i=1}^n f_i(\omega)\,e_i\right\|_*^p\right)^{1/p}$
for independent random variables {f i (ω)}, and 1 ≤ p < ∞.

We study nonlinear elliptic equations in divergence form
$$\text {div }{\mathcal A}(x,Du)=\text {div } G.$$
When \({\mathcal A}\) has linear growth in D u, and assuming that \(x\mapsto {\mathcal A}(x,\xi )\) enjoys \(B^{\alpha }_{\frac {n}\alpha , q}\) smoothness, local well-posedness is found in \(B^{\alpha }_{p,q}\) for certain values of \(p\in [2,\frac {n}{\alpha })\) and \(q\in [1,\infty ]\). In the particular case \({\mathcal A}(x,\xi )=A(x)\xi \), G = 0 and \(A\in B^{\alpha }_{\frac {n}\alpha ,q}\), \(1\leq q\leq \infty \), we obtain \(Du\in B^{\alpha }_{p,q}\) for each \(p<\frac {n}\alpha \). Our main tool in the proof is a more general result, that holds also if \({\mathcal A}\) has growth s?1 in D u, 2 ≤ sn, and asserts local well-posedness in L q for each q > s, provided that \(x\mapsto {\mathcal A}(x,\xi )\) satisfies a locally uniform VMO condition.

The behavior near the extinction time is identified for non-negative solutions to the diffusive Hamilton–Jacobi equation with critical gradient absorption
$$\begin{aligned} \partial _tu-\Delta _p u+|\nabla u|^{p-1}=0 \quad \hbox {in}~ (0,\infty )\times \mathbb {R}^N, \end{aligned}$$
and fast diffusion \(2N/(N+1)<p<2\). Given a non-negative and radially symmetric initial condition with a non-increasing profile which decays sufficiently fast as \(|x|\rightarrow \infty \), it is shown that the corresponding solution u to the above equation approaches a uniquely determined separate variable solution of the form
$$\begin{aligned} U(t,x)=(T_e-t)^{1/(2-p)}f_*(|x|), \quad (t,x)\in (0,T_e)\times \mathbb {R}^N, \end{aligned}$$
as \(t\rightarrow T_e\), where \(T_e\) denotes the finite extinction time of u. A cornerstone of the convergence proof is an underlying variational structure of the equation. Also, the selected profile \(f_*\) is the unique non-negative solution to a second order ordinary differential equation which decays exponentially at infinity. A complete classification of solutions to this equation is provided, thereby describing all separate variable solutions of the original equation. One important difficulty in the uniqueness proof is that no monotonicity argument seems to be available and it is overcome by the construction of an appropriate Pohozaev functional.

This paper is concerned with the existence of positive solutions of the third-order boundary value problem with full nonlinearity
$$\begin{aligned} \left\{ \begin{array}{lll} u'''(t)&{}=f(t,u(t),u'(t),u''(t)),\quad t\in [0,1],\\ u(0)&{}=u'(1)=u''(1)=0, \end{array}\right. \end{aligned}$$
where \(f:[0,1]\times \mathbb {R}^+\times \mathbb {R}^+\times \mathbb {R}^-\rightarrow \mathbb {R}^+\) is continuous. Under some inequality conditions on f as |(xyz)| small or large enough, the existence results of positive solution are obtained. These inequality conditions allow that f(txyz) may be superlinear, sublinear or asymptotically linear on x, y and z as \(|(x,y,z)|\rightarrow 0\) and \(|(x,y,z)|\rightarrow \infty \). For the superlinear case as \(|(x,y,z)|\rightarrow \infty \), a Nagumo-type growth condition is presented to restrict the growth of f on y and z. Our discussion is based on the fixed point index theory in cones.

where V and g are 1-periodic in \(x_{1},\ldots ,x_{N}\), and g is a superlinear but subcritical growth as \(|u|\rightarrow \infty \). We develop a more direct and simpler approach to prove the existence of ground state solutions.

Let {X n ; n≥1} be a sequence of independent copies of a real-valued random variable X and set S n =X 1+???+X n , n≥1. This paper is devoted to a refinement of the classical Kolmogorov–Marcinkiewicz–Zygmund strong law of large numbers. We show that for 0<p<2,
$\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\frac{1}{n}\biggl(\frac{|S_{n}|}{n^{1/p}}\biggr)<\infty\quad \mbox{almost surely}$
if and only if
$\begin{cases}\mathbb{E}|X|^{p}<\infty &; \mbox{if }0 < p < 1,\\\mathbb{E}X=0,\ \sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\frac{|\mathbb{E}XI\{|X|\leq n\}|}{n}<\infty,\mbox{ and }\\\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\frac{\int_{\min\{u_{n},n\}}^{n}\mathbb{P}(|X|>t)\,dt}{n}<\infty &; \mbox{if }p = 1,\\\mathbb{E}X=0\mbox{ and }\int_{0}^{\infty}\mathbb{P}^{1/p}(|X|>t)\,dt<\infty,&;\mbox{if }1 < p < 2,\end{cases}$
where \(u_{n}=\inf \{t:~\mathbb{P}(|X|>t)<\frac{1}{n}\}\), n≥1. Versions of the above result in a Banach space setting are also presented. To establish these results, we invoke the remarkable Hoffmann-Jørgensen (Stud. Math. 52:159–186, 1974) inequality to obtain some general results for sums of the form \(\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}a_{n}\|\sum_{i=1}^{n}V_{i}\|\) (where {V n ; n≥1} is a sequence of independent Banach-space-valued random variables, and a n ≥0, n≥1), which may be of independent interest, but which we apply to \(\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\frac{1}{n}(\frac{|S_{n}|}{n^{1/p}})\).
