In this paper, [NaGd1‐xNdx](MoO4)2 crystals with x = 0.005–0.05 were grown by Czochralski method at 950 ℃ for 10 hours and subsequently characterized by absorption spectroscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy. The intensity parameters of Nd3+ were calculated by Judd‐Ofelt theory, and the relationship between the parameters and Nd3+ concentration was analyzed. The results show that with the increasing Nd3+ concentration, the oscillator strength, stimulated emission cross‐section, Ωt and spontaneous transition probability decrease slightly, while the fluorescence lifetime decreases significantly. However, the fluorescence branching ratio is almost unchanged with the increasing Nd3+concentration. The [NaGd1‐xNdx](MoO4)2 crystal with (x = 0.01) possesses the highest quantum efficiency of 88.98%, a good fluorescence line‐width of 23 nm, a large value of σem·τf up to 0.55 × 10−22 cm2·s and a stimulated emission cross‐section up to 3.747 × 10−19 cm2 for the transition from 4F3/2 to4I11/2 at 1064 nm. Test results indicate that [NaGd1‐xNdx](MoO4)2 crystals are an excellent gain media for the solid state laser system.  相似文献

The crystals of the complexes Pr(Ac)3 · 4 H2O, Nd(Ac)3 · 4 H2O, Gd(Ac)3 · 4 H2O were synthesized and their Pa spectra determined firstly. Their PA spectra and absorption are interpreted. Using the micro‐pulling down (μ‐PD) method, 1 and 3 mol% Nd2O3 doped near stoichiometric lithium niobate (LiNbO3) single crystal fibers were grown in 1 mm diameter and 35∼40 mm length. The grown crystal fibers were free of cracks and the homogeneous distribution of Nd3+ ion concentrations were confirmed by the electron probe micro analysis. KDP crystals were rapidly grown from solutions doped with different Nd3+ concentrations. During the growth process, “foggy” inclusions were selectively captured in the pyramidal sector of KDP crystal and hourglass shaped crystals were obtained. It is found that the nonuniform distribution of Nd3+ ions causes remarkable differences in optical quality between prismatic and pyramidal sectors. With increasing Nd3+ concentration, the optical quality is greatly decreased for pyramidal sectors, while the change is not so obvious for prismatic sectors. (© 2010 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Bridgman growth of Nd:SGG (Sr3Ga2Ge4O14) crystals has been investigated for the first time. Pt crucible of ∅︁25mm×250mm with a seed well of ∅︁10mm×80 mm is used, and seed is SGG crystal of ∅︁10mm×50mm grown by Bridgman method in advance. The growth parameters are optimized as the furnace temperature is set to 1450∼1500°C, temperature gradient in the crystal‐melt interface is less than 25 K/cm and growth rate is less than 0.5mm/h. The Nd:SGG crystals with 25mm in diameter and 60mm in length are grown successfully from 1.5 to 8at% Nd3+ doped stoichiometric Sr3Ga2Ge4O14 melt. A neodymium doped Ca5(BO3)3F single crystal with size up to 51×48×8 mm3 has been grown by the top seeded solution growth (TSSG) technique with a Li2O‐B2O3‐LiF flux. The spectra of absorption and fluorescence were measured at room temperature. According to Judd‐Ofelt (J‐O) theory, the spectroscopic parameters were calculated and the J‐O parameters Ω2, Ω4, Ω6 were obtained as follows: Ω2 = 1.41×10−20cm2, Ω4 = 3.18×10−20cm2, Ω6 = 2.11×10−20cm2. The room temperature fluorescence lifetime of NCBF was measured to be 51.8 μs. According to the J‐O paramenters, the emission probabilities of transitions, branching ratios, the radiative lifetime and the quantum efficiency from the Nd3+ 4F3/2 metastable state to lower lying J manifolds were also obtained. In comparasion with other Nd‐doped borate crystals, the calculated and experimental parameters show that NCBF is a promising SFD crystal.  相似文献

Large single crystals of optical quality of BiB3O6:RE3+ (RE3+ = Pr3+, Nd3+, Gd3+, Er3+, Tm3+) were grown from nearly stoichiometric melts using the top‐seeding growth technique to dimensions up to 12 x 12 x 18 mm3. Absorption spectra were measured in the wavelength range from 10000 cm‐1 to 30000 cm‐1 with an absorption spectrometer to estimate the doping concentration of RE3+. For the determination of the phonon energies and the quenching behaviour of the host lattice IR and Raman spectra were recorded.  相似文献

Nd3+‐doped Y3Al5O12 single crystals have been grown by the horizontal directional solidification (HDS) method in different thermal zone. The Grashof (Gr), Prandtl (Pr), Marangoni (Ma) and Rayleigh (Ra) numbers of melt in HDS system have been discussed for our experimental system to understand the mechanism of melt flow patterns and concentration gradient of dopant. The concentration gradient of Nd3+ ions was explained with melt flow processes during crystal growth in different thermal zone, and results indicated that high growth temperature will be helpful for uniformity of dopant in HDS‐grown single crystal. The main microscopic growth defects such as bubbles and irregular inclusions in HDS‐grown Nd:YAG crystals were observed, and the causes were discussed as well. (© 2012 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. PbMoO4:Nd3+ single crystals have been grown using different doping schemes. Their dielectric properties have been studied in the temperature range of 20?C550°C at frequencies from 25 to 106 Hz. The activation energies of dielectric relaxation are determined for all samples, and the Nd3+ luminescence decay kinetics is studied. The most realistic models of activator centers in PbMoO4:Nd3+ crystals are proposed based on the optical and dielectric spectroscopy data.  相似文献

An Nd3+:Ca9Gd(VO4)7 crystal with dimensions of ?25×30 mm3 was grown by the Czochralski method. The hardness, thermal expansion coefficient and thermal conductivity coefficient of the crystal were measured. The spectroscopic characteristics of Nd3+:Ca9Gd(VO4)7 crystals were investigated. The absorption band at 810 nm has an FWHM of 10 nm, and absorption cross-sections are 5.81×10?20 cm2 for π-polarization and 7.47×10?20 cm2 for σ-polarization at 810 nm. The emission cross-sections at 1067 nm are 4.2×10?20 and 6.5×10?20 cm2 for π- and σ-polarizations, respectively. The quantum efficiency ηc is equal to 94.3%. To sum up the above results, Nd3+:Ca9Gd(VO4)7 crystal can be regarded as a highly efficient solid state laser material.  相似文献

The optical absorption spectra of LiNbO3 (LN), Fe:LiNbO3 (Fe:LN), and Zn:Fe:LiNbO3 (Zn:Fe:LN) single crystals grown by Bridgman method were measured and compared. The absorption characteristics of the samples and the effects of growth process conditions on the absorption spectra were investigated. The Fe, Zn and Li concentrations in the crystals were analyzed by inductively coupled plasma (ICP) spectrometry. The results indicated that the overall Fe ion and Fe2+ concentration in Fe:LN and Zn:Fe:LN crystals increased along the growing direction. The incorporation of ZnO in Fe:LN crystal induced increase of Fe2+ in the crystal. Among Fe‐doped and Zn:Fe‐codoped LN single crystals, 3 mol% ZnO doped Fe:LN had a biggest change of Fe2+ ion concentration from bottom to top part of crystal. Nd2PdSi3 single crystals were grown by a vertical floating zone method with radiation heating at a zone traveling rate of 3 mm/h. The compound exhibits congruent melting behavior at a liquidus temperature of about 1790 °C. The actual crystal composition (35.3 ± 0.5) at.% Nd, (16.2 ± 0.5) at.% Pd, and (48.5 ± 0.5) at.% Si is slightly depleted in Pd and Si with respect to the nominal stoichiometry. Therefore, the gradual accumulation of these elements in the traveling zone led to a decrease of the operating temperature during the growth process. Single crystalline samples exhibit a large anisotropy due to the crystal electric field effect and order ferromagnetically below the Curie temperature TC = 15.1 K. Pure and ytterbium-doped neodymium borotungstate (Nd3BWO9, and Nd2.85Yb0.15BWO9, respectively) single crystals have been grown by means of high-temperature solution growth method from 15 mol% solution in PbO. The phase of both crystals was confirmed to be hexagonal with acentric space group P63. Absorption and luminescence spectra as well as decay time for 4F3/24I11/2 transition in neodymium borotungstate were measured and discussed. The obtained results show that Nd3BWO9 is suitable as high-neodymium-content laser crystal for microchip laser applications.  相似文献

Fluorophosphate glasses of composition P2O5–K2O–MgO–Al2O3–AlF3 and P2O5–K2O–MgO–Al2O3–BaF2 were prepared with different Nd3+ ion concentrations. The absorption and emission spectra in the UV–VIS–NIR region were measured for these glasses. Judd–Ofelt analysis has been carried out using the absorption spectra of 1.0 mol% Nd3+-doped glasses to evaluate the radiative properties for some luminescent levels of the Nd3+ ion. The stimulated emission cross-sections of the 4F3/2  4I11/2 laser transition for the present glasses are found to be higher than for other Nd3+-doped glasses. Branching ratio calculations also revealed the potentiality of the 4F3/2  4I11/2 transition for laser action in these glasses. The observed concentration quenching of the lifetime of the 4F3/2 level is explained as a result of cross-relaxation process between the Nd3+ ions.  相似文献

Mechanisms of the compositional dependence of blue emission from Nd3+/Tm3+ co-doped Ge–Ga–S–CsBr chalcohalide glasses were investigated. The blue upconversion emissions (centered at 475 nm) due to the Tm3+: 1G4  3H6 transition decreased as the CsBr/Ga ratio in glasses while the other upconversion emissions from the Nd3+ ions increased. Changes in the local environment of rare-earth ions incurred by the CsBr addition significantly increased the excited state absorption within Nd3+ ions. This resulted in the decrease in the Nd3+  Tm3+ energy transfer rates that led to the large decrease in blue upconversion emission.  相似文献

The results of a stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) spectroscopy study of Nd3+-doped CaMoO4, SrMoO4, and SrWO4 crystals are presented. All the wavelengths of the Stokes and anti-Stokes generation observed in these crystals are identified. For the first time, the self-SRS conversion of the emission frequency of activator Nd3+-ions is attained in these lasing molybdates and tungstate with scheelite-type structures.  相似文献

The as‐grown surface and inner structures of undoped and Nd3+‐, Cr3+‐, V3+‐, Ce3+‐, Er3+ and Yb3+ – and (Er3+ + Yb3+) – doped yttrium aluminum borate (YAB) single crystals grown from (K2Mo3O10 + B2O3) flux by spontaneous crystallization or top seeded solution growth (TSSG) technique, were investigated using optical and scanning electron microscopic and analytic chemical methods. Fine and rough growth hillocks of dislocational origin, growth layers, traces of inner planar defects and foreign phase crystalline debris were found and analyzed on the as‐grown faces of crystals. Irregular grains and regular block structures and foreign phase inclusions were observed and studied in the interior of the crystals. The chemical compositions measured by energy dispersive X‐ray spectrometry on perfect and imperfect micro regions are compared with those obtained by flame atomic absorption spectrometry on bulk crystals. Two kinds of near‐stoichiometric LiNbO3 crystals (SLN11 and SLN19) were grown by a flux pulling method from stoichiometric melt with addition of 11mol%K2O and 19mol%K2O, respectively. Compared with the congruent melting LiNbO3, the ultraviolet absorption edges of two crystals shift towards shorter wavelengths, and the locations of the OH infrared absorption band have obvious change and the bandwidths become greatly narrower. From these experimental results, the Li2O contents are determined indirectly to be about 49.6mol% for SLN11 and 49.9mol% for SLN19, respectively. The Li2O content in SLN19 is very close to the ideal value of 50mol%. The coercive fields of two crystals were measured by the poling method at room temperature. For La1‐xNdxGaO3 crystals the La‐Nd substitution leads to decrease of spontaneous strains and for composition with x≈0.32 the six possible twin states of orthorhombic phase (m3mFmmm) may be degenerated in three twin states inhered in m3mF4/mmm species when a distorted perovskite pseudocell becomes tetragonal. The {110} and {112} reflection twins and axial twins with compositional planes close to (211) and (21‐1) (S‐walls) were identified in La1‐xNdxGaO3 (x=0.07, 0.12, 0.20) solid solutions crystals. All observed twins are typical for crystals with GdFeO3 type perovskite‐like structure. It has been shown that for x≤0.2 and x≥0.5 orientations of S‐walls weakly depend on La/Nd ratio, whereas in the range of 0.2<x<0.5 they depend strongly on the solid solution composition. The tilt angle between two twin states across twin boundary in La1‐xNdxGaO3 (x<0.6) solid solutions is smaller than that between two twins in pure LaGaO3 or NdGaO3.  相似文献

Garnet crystals of the composition Gd3Ga5O12:Nd3+ (concentration series CNd = 1–10 at. %) were grown from flux. In terms of spectroscopy, these crystals, unlike those grown from melts, form medium with a single activator center. For the first time, continuous-wave lasing was excited by diode pumping with the use of Gd3Ga5O12:Nd3+ crystals at the wavelengths λ3 = 1.3315 and λ4 = 1.3370 μm of the 4F3/24I13/2 channel and also the simultaneous generation at two wavelengths, λ1 = 1.0621 and λ2 = 1.0600 μm, of the 4F3/24I11/2 channel.  相似文献
