In this paper, the Lp-convergence of Grünwald interpolation Gn(f,x) based on the zeros of Jacobi polynomials J n (α,β) (x)(−1<α,β<1) is considered. Lp-convergence (0<p<2) of Grünwald interpolation Gn(f,x) is proved for p·Max(α,β)<1. Moreover, Lp-convergence (p>0) of Gn(f,x) is obtained for −1<α,β≤0. Therefore, the results of [1] and [3–5] are improved.  相似文献

The product ϕ λ (α,β) (t1λ (α,β) (t2) of two Jacobi functions is expressed as an integral in terms of ϕ λ (α,β) (t3) with explicit non-negative kernel, when α≧β≧−1/2. The resulting convolution structure for Jacobi function expansions is studied. For special values of α and β the results are known from the theory of symmetric spaces.  相似文献

Let f∈C [−1,1] (r≥1) and Rn(f,α,β,x) be the generalized Pál interpolation polynomials satisfying the conditions Rn(f,α,β,xk)=f(xk),Rn (f,α,β,xk)=f′(xk)(k=1,2,…,n), where {xk} are the roots of n-th Jacobi polynomial Pn(α,β,x),α,β>−1 and {x k } are the roots of (1−x2)Pn″(α,β,x). In this paper, we prove that holds uniformly on [0,1]. In Memory of Professor M. T. Cheng Supported by the Science Foundation of CSBTB and the Natural Science Foundatioin of Zhejiang.  相似文献

Lubinsky and Totik’s decomposition [11] of the Cesàro operators σ n (α,β) of Jacobi expansions is modified to prove uniform boundedness in weighted sup norms, i.e., ‖w (a,b) σ n (α,β) Cw (a,b) f, whenever α,β ≧ −1/2 and a, b are within the square around (α/2 + 1/4, α/2 + 1/4) having a side length of 1. This approach uses only classical results from the theory of orthogonal polynomials and various estimates for the Jacobi weights. The present paper is concerned with the main theorems and ideas, while a second paper [7] provides some necessary estimations.   相似文献

For n -dimensional subspaces E n , F n of L 1 (-1,1) with E n spanned by Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind and F n the set of Müntz polynomials with , , it is shown that the relative projection constants satisfy (E n , L 1 (-1,1)) C log n and (F n , L 1 (-1,1)) = O(1) , . The spaces L 1 w(α,β) , where w α,β is the weight function of the Jacobi polynomials and , are also studied. The Jacobi partial sum projections, which are used in connection with E n , are not minimal. September 26, 1996.  相似文献

On weighted approximation by Bernstein-Durrmeyer operators   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6
In this paper, we consider weighted approximation by Bernstein-Durrmeyer operators in Lp[0, 1] (1≤p≤∞), where the weight function w(x)=xα(1−x)β,−1/p<α, β<1-1/p. We obtain the direct and converse theorems. As an important tool we use appropriate K-functionals. Supported by Zhejiang Provincial Science Foundation.  相似文献

The two-dimensional classical Hardy space Hp(T×T) on the bidisc are introduced, and it is shown that the maximal operator of the (C,α,β) means of a distribution is bounded from the space Hp(T×T) to Lp(T2) (1/(α+1), 1/(β+1)<p≤∞), and is of weak type (H 1 # (T×T), L1(T2)), where the Hardy space H 1 # (T×T) is defined by the hybrid maximal function. As a consequence we obtain that the (C, α, β) means of a function f∈H 1 # (T×T)⊃LlogL(T 2) convergs a. e. to the function in question. Moreover, we prove that the (C, α, β) means are uniformly bounded on the spaces Hp(T×T) whenever 1/(α+1), 1(β+1)<p<∞. Thus, in case f∈Hp(T×T), the (C, α, β) means convergs to f in Hp(T×T) norm whenever (1/(α+1), 1/(β+1)<p<∞). The same results are proved for the conjugate (C, α, β) means, too. In this paper, we prove the commutator T b generated by the strongly singular integral operator T and the function b is bounded from L p (w) to L q (w 1−q ) if and only if bLip β (w), where wA 1, 0 < β < 1, 1 < p < n/β and 1/q = 1/pβ/n. To do this, we first show a maximal function estimate for the commutator.  相似文献

Lattice-universal Orlicz function spacesL F α,β[0, 1] with prefixed Boyd indices are constructed. Namely, given 0<α<β<∞ arbitrary there exists Orlicz function spacesL F α,β[0, 1] with indices α and β such that every Orlicz function spaceL G [0, 1] with indices between α and β is lattice-isomorphic to a sublattice ofL F α,β[0, 1]. The existence of classes of universal Orlicz spacesl Fα,β(I) with uncountable symmetric basis and prefixed indices α and β is also proved in the uncountable discrete case. The real-valued Lambert W-functions considered here are w 0(y) and w  − 1(y), solutions of we w  = y, − 1/e < y < 0, with values respectively in ( − 1,0) and ( − ∞ , − 1). A study is made of the numerical evaluation to high precision of these functions and of the integrals ò1 [-w0(-xe-x)]a x-bx\int_1^\infty [-w_0(-xe^{-x})]^\alpha x^{-\beta}\d x, α > 0, β ∈ ℝ, and ò01 [-w-1(-x e-x)]a x-bx\int_0^1 [-w_{-1}(-x e^{-x})]^\alpha x^{-\beta}\d x, α > − 1, β < 1. For the latter we use known integral representations and their evaluation by nonstandard Gaussian quadrature, if α ≠ β, and explicit formulae involving the trigamma function, if α = β.  相似文献

We obtain the best approximation in L 1(ℝ), by entire functions of exponential type, for a class of even functions that includes e λ|x|, where λ>0, log |x| and |x| α , where −1<α<1. We also give periodic versions of these results where the approximating functions are trigonometric polynomials of bounded degree.  相似文献

In the study of differential equations on [ − 1,1] subject to linear homogeneous boundary conditions of finite order, it is often expedient to represent the solution in a Galerkin expansion, that is, as a sum of basis functions, each of which satisfies the given boundary conditions. In order that the functions be maximally distinct, one can use the Gram-Schmidt method to generate a set orthogonal with respect to a particular weight function. Here we consider all such sets associated with the Jacobi weight function, w(x) = (1 − x) α (1 + x) β . However, this procedure is not only cumbersome for sets of large degree, but does not provide any intrinsic means to characterize the functions that result. We show here that each basis function can be written as the sum of a small number of Jacobi polynomials, whose coefficients are found by imposing the boundary conditions and orthogonality to the first few basis functions only. That orthogonality of the entire set follows—a property we term “auto-orthogonality”—is remarkable. Additionally, these basis functions are shown to behave asymptotically like individual Jacobi polynomials and share many of the latter’s useful properties. Of particular note is that these basis sets retain the exponential convergence characteristic of Jacobi expansions for expansion of an arbitrary function satisfying the boundary conditions imposed. Further, the associated error is asymptotically minimized in an L p(α) norm given the appropriate choice of α = β. The rich algebraic structure underlying these properties remains partially obscured by the rather difficult form of the non-standard weighted integrals of Jacobi polynomials upon which our analysis rests. Nevertheless, we are able to prove most of these results in specific cases and certain of the results in the general case. However a proof that such expansions can satisfy linear boundary conditions of arbitrary order and form appears extremely difficult.  相似文献

The two-parameter dyadic martingale Hardy spacesH p are introduced and it is proved that the maximal operator of the (C, α, β) means of a two-dimensional Walsh-Fourier series is bounded from Hp to Lp (1/(α+1), 1/(β+1)<p<∞) and is of weak type (H 1 # , L1), where the Hardy space H 1 # is defined by the hybrid maximal function. As a consequence, we obtain that the (C, α, β) means of a function f∈H 1 # converge a.e. to the function in question. Moreover, we prove that the (C, α, β) means are uniformly bounded on Hp whenever 1/(α+1), 1/(β+1)<p<∞. Thus in case f∈Hp, the (C, α, β) means converge to f in Hp norm. The same results are proved for the conjugate (C, α, β) means, too.  相似文献

Highest weight representations of a Lie algebra of Block type   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
For a field F of characteristic zero and an additive subgroup G of F, a Lie algebra B(G) of the Block type is defined with the basis {Lα,i, c|α∈G, -1≤i∈Z} and the relations [Lα,i,Lβ,j] = ((i 1)β- (j 1)α)Lα β,i j αδα,-βδi j,-2c,[c, Lα,i] = 0. Given a total order (?) on G compatible with its group structure, and anyα∈B(G)0*, a Verma B(G)-module M(A, (?)) is defined, and the irreducibility of M(A,(?)) is completely determined. Furthermore, it is proved that an irreducible highest weight B(Z )-module is quasifinite if and only if it is a proper quotient of a Verma module.  相似文献

A refinable function φ(x):ℝn→ℝ or, more generally, a refinable function vector Φ(x)=[φ1(x),...,φr(x)]T is an L1 solution of a system of (vector-valued) refinement equations involving expansion by a dilation matrix A, which is an expanding integer matrix. A refinable function vector is called orthogonal if {φj(x−α):α∈ℤn, 1≤j≤r form an orthogonal set of functions in L2(ℝn). Compactly supported orthogonal refinable functions and function vectors can be used to construct orthonormal wavelet and multiwavelet bases of L2(ℝn). In this paper we give a comprehensive set of necessary and sufficient conditions for the orthogonality of compactly supported refinable functions and refinable function vectors.  相似文献

Fort ∈ [a, b], letA(t) be the unbounded operator inH 0,p (G) associated with an elliptic-boundary value problem that satisfies Agmon’s conditions on the rays λ=±iτ, τ ≥0. Existence and uniqueness results are obtained for weak and strict solutions of two-point problems of the type (du/dt)−A(t) u(t) =f(t),E 1(α)u (α)=u α,E 2 (β)u (β)=u β. Here [α, β) χ- [a, b],E 1 (α) andE 2 (β) are spectral projections associated withA(α) andA(β) respectively, andA(α)E 1 (α) and =A (β)E 2 (β) are infinitesimal generators of analytic semigroups. WhenA(t) andf(t) are analytic in a convex, complex neighborhoodO of [a, b] we show that for someθ i ,i=1,2, any solution ofdu/dt =A(t)u (t)=f(t) in [a, b] is analytic and satisfies the above equation in the setO∩{t; t ≠ a, t ≠ b, | arg (ta) | <θ 1, | arg (bt) |θ 2}. For an additive subgroup G of a field F of characteristic zero, a Lie algebra B(G) of Block type is defined with basis {Lα,i| α∈G, i∈Z+} and relations [Lα,i, Lβ,j] = (β-α)Lα+β,i+j+(αj-βi)Lα+β,Lα+β,i+j-1.It is proved that an irreducible highest weight B(Z)-module is quasifinite if and only if it is a proper quotient of a Verma module. Furthermore, for a total order λ on G and any ∧∈B(G)0^*(the dual space of B(G)0 = span{L0,i|i∈Z+}), a Verma B(G)-module M(∧,λ) is defined, and the irreducibility of M(A,λ) is completely determined.  相似文献
