We consider a hypoelliptic two-parameter diffusion. We first prove a sharp upper bound in small time (st)[0, 1]2 for the Lp-moments of the inverse of the Malliavin matrix of the diffusion process. Second, we establish the behaviour of22 log pst(xy), as ↓0, where x is the initial condition of the diffusion, = , and pst(xy) is the density of the hypoelliptic two-parameter diffusion.  相似文献

For two subsets W and V of a Banach space X, let Kn(W, V, X) denote the relative Kolmogorov n-width of W relative to V defined by Kn (W, V, X) := inf sup Ln f∈W g∈V∩Ln inf ‖f-g‖x,where the infimum is taken over all n-dimensional linear subspaces Ln of X. Let W2(△r) denote the class of 2w-periodic functions f with d-variables satisfying ∫[-π,π]d |△rf(x)|2dx ≤ 1,while △r is the r-iterate of Laplace operator △. This article discusses the relative Kolmogorov n-width of W2(△r) relative to W2(△r) in Lq([-r, πr]d) (1 ≤ q ≤∞), and obtain its weak asymptotic result.  相似文献

Upper and lower bounds for generalized Christoffel functions, called Freud-Christoffel functions, are obtained. These have the form λn,p(W,j,x) = infPWLp(R)/|P(j)(X)| where the infimum is taken over all polynomials P(x) of degree at most n − 1. The upper and lower bounds for λn,p(W,j,x) are obtained for all 0 < p ∞ and J = 0, 1, 2, 3,… for weights W(x) = exp(−Q(x)), where, among other things, Q(x) is bounded in [− A, A], and Q″ is continuous in β(−A, A) for some A > 0. For p = ∞, the lower bounds give a simple proof of local and global Markov-Bernstein inequalities. For p = 2, the results remove some restrictions on Q in Freud's work. The weights considered include W(x) = exp(− ¦x¦α/2), α > 0, and W(x) = exp(− expx¦)), > 0.  相似文献

Let u(r,θ) be biharmonic and bounded in the circular sector ¦θ¦ < π/4, 0 < r < ρ (ρ > 1) and vanish together with δu/δθ when ¦θ¦ = π/4. We consider the transform û(p,θ) = ∝01rp − 1u(r,θ)dr. We show that for any fixed θ0 u(p0) is meromorphic with no real poles and cannot be entire unless u(r, θ0) ≡ 0. It follows then from a theorem of Doetsch that u(r, θ0) either vanishes identically or oscillates as r → 0.  相似文献

Suppose that Δ + s is the set of functions x: I → ℝ on a finite interval I such that the divided differences [x; t 0,..., t s ] of order s ∈ ℕ of these functions are nonnegative for all collections from (s +1) different points t 0,..., t s I. For all s ∈ ℕ and 1 ≤ p ≤ ∞, we establish exact orders of best approximations by splines with free nodes and rational functions in the metrics of L p for classes , where B p is the unit ball in L p . We also establish the asymptotics of pseudodimensional widths in L p of these classes of functions.__________Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, vol. 78, no. 1, 2005, pp. 98–114.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2005 by V. This paper deals with the higher-order Kirchhoff-type equation with nonlinear dissipationutt+(Ω׀Dmu׀2dx)q(−Δ)mu+ut׀ut׀ru׀pu,xΩ,t>0,in a bounded domain, where m < 1 is a positive integer, q, p, r < 0 arepositive constants. We obtain that the solution exists globally if pr, while ifp > max r, 2q , then for any initial data with negative initial energy, the solution blowsup at finite time in Lp+2 norm.  相似文献

W(R)-splines
In [3] Golomb describes, for 1 < p < ∞, the Hr,p(R)-extremal extension F* of a function ƒ:ER (i.e., the Hr,p-spline with knots in E) and studies the cone H*Er,p of all such splines. We study the problem of determining when F* is in Wr,pHr,pLp. If F* ε Wr,p, then F* is called a Wr,p-spline, and we denote by W*Er,p the cone of all such splines. If E is quasiuniform, then F* ε Wr,p if and only if {ƒ(ti)}tiεE ε lp. The cone W*Er,p with E quasiuniform is shown to be homeomorphic to lp. Similarly, H*Er,p is homeomorphic to hr,p. Approximation properties of the Wr,p-splines are studied and error bounds in terms of the mesh size ¦ E ¦ are calculated. Restricting ourselves to the case p = 2 and to quasiuniform partitions E, the second integral relation is proved and better error bounds in terms of ¦ E ¦ are derived.  相似文献

We investigate the large-time behaviour of solutions to the nonlinear heat-conduction equation with absorption ut = Δ(uσ + 1) − uβ in Q = RN × (0, ∞) (E) with N 1, σ > 0 and critical absorption exponent β = σ + 1 + 2/N; the initial function u(x, 0) = 0 is assumed to be integrable, nonnegative and compactly supported. We prove that u converges as t → ∞ to a unique self-similar function which is a contracted version of one of the asymptotic profiles of the nonabsorptive problem ut = Δ(uσ + 1), the same for any initial data. The cornerstone of the proof is a result about ω-limits of (infinite-dimensional) asymptotical dynamical systems. Combining this result with an asymptotic evaluation of the mass function as well as typical PDE estimates gives the behaviour of (E) for large times.Similar unusual asymptotic behaviour is obtained for the equation ut = div(¦Du¦σ Du) − uβ with same conditions on σ and u(x, 0) and critical value for β = σ + 1 + (σ + 2)/N.  相似文献

We study here a new kind of modified Bernstein polynomial operators on L1(0, 1) introduced by J. L. Durrmeyer in [4]. We define for f integrable on [0, 1] the modified Bernstein polynomial Mn f: Mnf(x) = (n + 1) ∑nk = oPnk(x)∝10 Pnk(t) f(t) dt. If the derivative dr f/dxr with r 0 is continuous on [0, 1], dr/dxrMn f converge uniformly on [0,1] and supxε[0,1] ¦Mn f(x) − f(x)¦ 2ωf(1/trn) if ωf is the modulus of continuity of f. If f is in Sobolev space Wl,p(0, 1) with l 0, p 1, Mn f converge to f in wl,p(0, 1).  相似文献

We study the error in approximating functions with a bounded (r + α)th derivative in an Lp-norm. Here r is a nonnegative integer, α ε [0, 1), and ƒ(r + α) is the classical fractional derivative, i.e., ƒ(r + α)(y) = ∝01, α d(r)(t)). We prove that, for any such function ƒ, there exists a piecewise-polynomial of degree s that interpolates ƒ at n equally spaced points and that approximates ƒ with an error (in sup-norm) ƒ(r + α)p O(n−(r+α−1/p). We also prove that no algorithm based on n function and/or derivative values of ƒ has the error equal ƒ(r + α)p O(n−(r+α−1/p) for any ƒ. This implies the optimality of piecewise-polynomial interpolation. These two results generalize well-known results on approximating functions with bounded rth derivative (α = 0). We stress that the piecewise-polynomial approximation does not depend on α nor on p. It does not depend on the exact value of r as well; what matters is an upper bound s on r, s r. Hence, even without knowing the actual regularity (r, α, and p) of ƒ, we can approximate the function ƒ with an error equal (modulo a constant) to the minimal worst case error when the regularity were known.  相似文献

We obtain the exact values of extremal characteristics of a special form that connect the best polynomial approximations of functions f(x) ∈ L 2 r (r ∈ ℤ+) and expressions containing moduli of continuity of the kth order ωk(f(r), t). Using these exact values, we generalize the Taikov result for inequalities that connect the best polynomial approximations and moduli of continuity of functions from L 2. For the classes (k, r, Ψ*) defined by ω k(f (r), t) and the majorant , we determine the exact values of different widths in the space L2.__________Translated from Ukrains’kyi Matematychnyi Zhurnal, Vol. 56, No. 11, pp. 1458–1466, November, 2004.  相似文献

Let 2s points yi=−πy2s<…<y1<π be given. Using these points, we define the points yi for all integer indices i by the equality yi=yi+2s+2π. We shall write fΔ(1)(Y) if f is a 2π-periodic continuous function and f does not decrease on [yiyi−1], if i is odd; and f does not increase on [yiyi−1], if i is even. In this article the following Theorem 1—the comonotone analogue of Jackson's inequality—is proved. 1. If fΔ(1)(Y), then for each nonnegative integer n there is a trigonometric polynomial τn(x) of order n such that τnΔ(1)(Y), and |f(x)−πn(x)|c(s) ω(f; 1/(n+1)), x , where ω(f; t) is the modulus of continuity of f, c(s)=const. This note explains how to translate the author's old result on cyclic vectors of the multiple shift operator into the language of completeness theorems for integer translates. This translation, together with those results, turns out to be a source for many completeness theorems. In particular, there follows the existence of functions f whose positive integer translates f(xk), where k + are complete in the spaces Cl0( ), Lp( ), Wlp( ), 2<p<∞, l=0, 1, …, as well as in their weighted and/or vector-valued analogues.  相似文献

The main purpose of this article is to establish nearly optimal results concerning the rate of almost everywhere convergence of the Gauss–Weierstrass, Abel–Poisson, and Bochner–Riesz means of the one-dimensional Fourier integral. A typical result for these means is the following: If the function f belongs to the Besov spaceBsp, p, 1<p<∞, 0<s<1, thenTmtf (x)−f(x)=ox(ts) a.e. ast→0+.  相似文献

Orthonormal ridgelets provide an orthonormal basis for L2(R2) built from special angularly-integrated ridge functions. In this paper we explore the relationship between orthonormal ridgelets and true ridge functions r(x1 cos θ+x2 sin θ). We derive a formula for the ridgelet coefficients of a ridge function in terms of the 1-D wavelet coefficients of the ridge profile r(t). The formula shows that the ridgelet coefficients of a ridge function are heavily concentrated in ridge parameter space near the underlying scale, direction, and location of the ridge function. It also shows that the rearranged weighted ridgelet coefficients of a ridge function decay at essentially the same rate as the rearranged weighted 1-D wavelet coefficients of the 1-D ridge profile r(t). In short, the full ridgelet expansion of a ridge function is in a certain sense equally as sparse as the 1-D wavelet expansion of the ridge profile. It follows that partial ridgelet expansions can give good approximations to objects which are countable superpositions of well-behaved ridge functions. We study the nonlinear approximation operator which “kills” coefficients below certain thresholds (depending on angular- and ridge-scale); we show that for approximating objects which are countable superpositions of ridge functions with 1-D ridge profiles in the Besov space B1/ppp(R), 0<p<1, the thresholded ridgelet approximation achieves optimal rates of N-term approximation. This implies that appropriate thresholding in the ridgelet basis is equally as good, for certain purposes, as an ideally-adapted N-term nonlinear ridge approximation, based on perfect choice of N-directions.  相似文献

Let (X1Y1), (X2Y2), …, be two-dimensional random vectors which are independent and distributed as (XY). For 0<p<1, letξ(px) be the conditionalpth quantile ofYgivenX=x; that is,ξ(px)=inf{y : P(YyX=x)p}. We consider the problem of estimatingξ(px) from the data (X1Y1), (X2Y2), …, (XnYn). In this paper, a new kernel estimator ofξ(px) is proposed. The asymptotic normality and a law of the iterated logarithm are obtained.  相似文献

We consider a conditional empirical distribution of the form Fn(C x)=∑nt=1 ωn(Xtx) I{YtC} indexed by C , where {(XtYt), t=1, …, n} are observations from a strictly stationary and strong mixing stochastic process, {ωn(Xtx)} are kernel weights, and is a class of sets. Under the assumption on the richness of the index class in terms of metric entropy with bracketing, we have established uniform convergence and asymptotic normality for Fnx). The key result specifies rates of convergences for the modulus of continuity of the conditional empirical process. The results are then applied to derive Bahadur–Kiefer type approximations for a generalized conditional quantile process which, in the case with independent observations, generalizes and improves earlier results. Potential applications in the areas of estimating level sets and testing for unimodality (or multimodality) of conditional distributions are discussed.  相似文献

Let T = {T(t)}t ≥ 0 be a C0-semigroup on a Banach space X. In this paper, we study the relations between the abscissa ωLp(T) of weak p-integrability of T (1 ≤ p < ∞), the abscissa ωpR(A) of p-boundedness of the resolvent of the generator A of T (1 ≤ p ≤ ∞), and the growth bounds ωβ(T), β ≥ 0, of T. Our main results are as follows.
1. (i) Let T be a C0-semigroup on a B-convex Banach space such that the resolvent of its generator is uniformly bounded in the right half plane. Then ω1 − ε(T) < 0 for some ε > 0.
2. (ii) Let T be a C0-semigroup on Lp such that the resolvent of the generator is uniformly bounded in the right half plane. Then ωβ(T) < 0 for all β>¦1/p − 1/p′¦, 1/p + 1/p′ = 1.
3. (iii) Let 1 ≤ p ≤ 2 and let T be a weakly Lp-stable C0-semigroup on a Banach space X. Then for all β>1/p we have ωβ(T) ≤ 0.
Further, we give sufficient conditions in terms of ωqR(A) for the existence of Lp-solutions and W1,p-solutions (1 ≤ p ≤ ∞) of the abstract Cauchy problem for a general class of operators A on X.  相似文献

We study the complexity of Fredholm problems (ITk)u=f of the second kind on Id=[0,1]d, where Tk is an integral operator with kernel k. Previous work on the complexity of this problem has assumed either that we had complete information about k or that k and f had the same smoothness. In addition, most of this work has assumed that the information about k and f was exact. In this paper, we assume that k and f have different smoothness; more precisely, we assume that fWr,p(Id) with r>d/p and that kWs,∞(I2d) with s>0. In addition, we assume that our information about k and f is contaminated by noise. We find that the nth minimal error is Θ(n−μ+δ), where μ=min{r/d,s/(2d)} and δ is a bound on the noise. We prove that a noisy modified finite element method has nearly minimal error. This algorithm can be efficiently implemented using multigrid techniques. We thus find tight bounds on the -complexity for this problem. These bounds depend on the cost c(δ) of calculating a δ-noisy information value. As an example, if the cost of a δ-noisy evaluation is proportional to δt, then the -complexity is roughly (1/)t+1/μ.  相似文献

This thesis deals with a certain set function called entropy and its ápplications to some problems in classical Fourier analysis. For a set S [0, 1/e] the entropy of S is defined by E(S) = infSkIk,Ik intervals Σk | Ik | log(1/|Ik|). We begin by using notions related to entropy in order to investigate the maximal operator MΩ given by MΩ(f)(x) = supr>0(1/rn) ∫|t| ≤r Ω(t) |f(x + t)| dt, f ε L1(Rn), where Ω is a positive function, homogeneous of degree 0, and satisfying a certain weak smoothness condition. Then the set function entropy is investigated, and certain of its properties are derived. We then apply these to solve various problems in differentiation theory and the theory of singular integrals, deriving in the process, entropic versions of the theorems of Hardy and Littlewood and Calderón and Zygmund.  相似文献
