Model calculations for commensurability oscillations of the low-field magnetoresistance of two-dimensional electron systems (2DES) in lateral superlattices, consisting of unit cells with an internal structure, are compared with recent experiments. The relevant harmonics of the effective modulation potential depend not only on the geometrical structure of the modulated unit cell, but also strongly on the nature of the modulation. While higher harmonics of an electrostatically generated surface modulation are exponentially damped at the position of the 2DES about 90 nm below the surface, no such damping appears for strain-induced modulation generated, e.g., by the deposition of stripes of calixarene resist on the surface before cooling down the sample.  相似文献

The surface of flint glass of type F2 is patterned by nanosecond KrF excimer laser ablation. Strong UV absorption provides a comparatively low ablation threshold and precise ablation contours. By using a two-grating interferometer, periodic surface patterns with 330 nm period and 100 nm modulation depth are obtained. This method enables the fabrication of 7 mm×13 mm wide grating areas with perfectly aligned grooves without the need of high-precision sample positioning. By double exposure, crossed gratings with adjustable depths in the two orthogonal directions can be generated.  相似文献

The conductivity of the high magnetic field insulating phases of two-dimensional electron and hole systems (2DES and 2DHS) of sufficiently low disorder exhibits a resonance at microwave frequency. We present and compare results on this resonance in a moderate disorder 2DES and in a high quality 2DHS. The 2DES exhibits the resonance even though the high- insulator is not reentrant around the fractional quantum Hall effect. The resonance in the 2DHS is much sharper than that in the 2DES, and appears to be inconsistent with the standard model of a two-dimensional harmonic oscillator in a magnetic field.  相似文献

提出一种利用周期性抛物线调制信号对光脉冲进行相位调制以获得周期性线性啁啾脉冲的方法, 并对其进行了数值模拟与实验研究. 数值模拟结果表明: 增益饱和效应、群速度色散以及同步误差对啁啾脉冲的时间-光谱特性影响较大; 自相位调制对啁啾脉冲的影响较小. 实验获得了0.52 nm带宽的周期性线性啁啾脉冲, 与模拟结果符合较好. 实验结果同时表明装置中存在较大的偏振模色散, 导致幅频效应较大, 后续的研究中需加入对此的考虑. 模拟及实验研究表明: 直接相位调制是一种新型的可方便地获得周期性线性啁啾脉冲的方法, 其在光谱色散平滑中具有潜在应用. 关键词: 直接相位调制 周期性线性啁啾脉冲 幅频效应  相似文献

Laser-induced periodic surface structures with different spatial characteristics have been observed after multiple linearly polarized femtosecond laser pulse (120 fs, 800 nm, 1 Hz to 1 kHz pulse repetition frequency) irradiation on alloys. With the increasing number of pulses, nanoripples, classical ripples and modulation ripples with a period close to half of classical ripples have all been induced. The generation of second-harmonic has been supposed to be the main mechanism in the formation of modulation ripples.  相似文献

提出了一种新的一维金属异质波导阵列的设计方案,即波导芯区周期调制的金属波导阵列.数值模拟的结果表明,金属波导芯区的周期调制引起波导中传播的表面等离激元有效折射率的周期调制,从而可在特定的波段打开一个表面等离激元带隙(如1550nm附近).通过引入合适的缺陷波导单元,可获得特定波长的高品质因子(Q=556)的表面电磁模共振.这一结果可用于设计亚波长的布拉格反射器、光发射器、滤波器等,有可能被用于未来的集成光路.  相似文献

The tunneling current between an electron gas with a periodic potential in two dimensions and a plain two-dimensional electron system (2DES) has been studied. The strength of the periodic potential, the subband energy of the plain 2DES, and an applied in-plane magnetic field were varied, mapping the Fourier transform of the periodic wave function. Periodic peaks were observed and explained by translations in the reciprocal lattice. When the potential was strongly modulated to form an array of antidots, commensurability peaks were seen in lateral transport, but, as expected, not in tunneling.  相似文献

为了有效研究液晶环境对金属纳米结构表面等离子体的调制作用,基于时域有限差分方法,对液晶环境下金纳米柱结构进行了建模,上下边界采用完全吸收边界条件,四周为周期边界条件.数值模拟了液晶厚度、倾角、光栅距离以及周期结构等参数对金纳米柱的消光特性的调制作用.分析结果表明:随着液晶光轴角度增加,谐振波长出现红移现象,且调制范围为40nm;光栅距离越大,金纳米柱之间的相互作用越弱,谐振波长越小;增加周期长度,谐振波长红移,且随着周期长度增加,次峰作用越明显.利用液晶光学性质可调节金属纳米结构的表面等离子体特性,结果对液晶环境中表面等离子体结构在新的光子器件等方面的研究提供了理论依据.  相似文献

In this work we present periodic surface structures generated by linearly polarized F2 laser light (157 nm) on polyethyleneterephthalate (PET). Atomic force microscopy was used to study the topological changes induced by the laser irradiation. The laser irradiation induces the formation of periodic ripple structures with a width of ca 130 nm and a height of about 15 nm in the fluence range 3.80-4.70 mJ/cm2 and the roughness of the polymer surface increases due to the presence of these periodic structures. Subsequently, the laser modified PET foils were coated with a 50 nm thick gold layer by sputtering. After Au deposition on the PET foils with ripple structure, the roughness of surface decreases in comparison to PET with ripples without Au coating. For 50 nm thick Au layers, the ripple structure is not directly transferred to the gold coating, but it has an obvious effect on the grain size of the coating. With considerably thinner Au layers, the ripple structures are smoothened but preserved.  相似文献

We propose switchable two-dimensional (2D) diffractive gratings with periodic refractive-index modulation arising from layer undulations in cholesteric liquid crystals. The cholesteric cell can be switched between two states: (1) flat layers of a planar cholesteric texture and (2) a square lattice of periodic director modulation associated with layer undulations that produces 2D diffraction patterns. The intensities of the diffraction maxima can be tuned by changing the applied field. The diffractive properties can be optimized for different wavelengths by appropriately choosing cholesteric pitch, cell thickness, and surface treatment.  相似文献

Two-beam interference method was applied to generate gratings having periods of 416 nm and 833 nm by the forth harmonic of a Nd:Yag laser on thin poly-carbonate films spin-coated onto silver layer-covered substrates. The dependence of the modulation depth on the fluence and number of laser pulses was investigated by atomic force microscopy. A secondary pattern appeared on very thin polymer layers thanks to the “p” polarized laser beam illumination induced self-organized processes. The conditions of the emergence of grating-coupling caused additional plasmon resonance peak were determined for the sub-micrometer periodic polymer gratings. Surface plasmon resonance measurements were performed in attenuated total reflection arrangement to determine the effect of the angle between the plasmon propagation direction and the polymer groves on the grating-coupling. The effect of the modulation depth on the grating-coupling caused additional resonance minimum was also analyzed. We found coupling phenomena according to our calculations, the differences between the measured and theoretically predicted resonance curves were explained by the scattering on the complex surface structure.  相似文献

GaAs/AlAs superlattices grown simultaneously on GaAs substrates with the (311)A and (311)B orientations have been studied by photoluminescence and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy with a Fourier analysis of images. A periodic interface corrugation is observed for (311)B superlattices. A comparison of the structure of (311)A and (311)B superlattices indicates that the corrugation occurs in both cases and its period along the $[01\overline 1 ]$ direction is equal to 3.2 nm. The corrugation is less pronounced in (311)B superlattices, wherein it exhibits an additional modulation (long-wavelength disorder) with the characteristic lateral size exceeding 10 nm. The vertical correlation of regions rich in GaAs and AlAs, which is well observed in (311)A superlattices, is weak in (311)B superlattices due to the occurrence of long-wavelength disorder. The optical properties of (311)B superlattices are similar to those of (100) ones and differ radically from those of (311)A superlattices. As distinct from (311)B, strong photoluminescence polarization anisotropy is observed for (311)A superlattices. It is shown that it is the interface corrugation rather than the crystallographic (311) surface orientation that determines the optical properties of (311)A corrugated superlattices with thin GaAs and AlAs layers.  相似文献

We demonstrate, for the first time to our knowledge, the generation of second-harmonic pulses by use of a novel methodology for achieving first-order quasi-phase matching in a semiconductor waveguide crystal. This methodology is based on a periodic modulation of the susceptibility coefficient along the direction of light-beam propagation in which advantage is taken of the fact that chi((2))(GaAs)>chi((2))(Al(x)Ga(1-x)As) . Efficient second-harmonic generation at 975 nm of a pump wavelength of 1950 nm has been demonstrated for a crystal with a nonuniform domain dimension (duty cycle, ~39/61).  相似文献

We demonstrate a new technique for femtosecond-pulse generation that employs ultrafast modulation of a laser field phase by impulsively excited molecular rotational or vibrational motion with subsequent temporal compression. An ultrashort pump pulse at 800 nm performs impulsive excitation of a molecular gas in a hollow waveguide, and a weak delayed probe pulse at 400 nm is scattered on the temporal oscillations of its dielectric index. The resultant sinusoidal phase modulation of the probe pulse permits probe pulse temporal compression by use of both positively and negatively dispersive elements. The potential of this new method is demonstrated by the generation of a periodic train of 5.8-fs pulses at 400 nm with positive group-delay dispersion compensation.  相似文献

利用波长为800 nm的飞秒激光,在空气和去离子水中诱导钛表面形成不同的周期条纹结构。在空气中,激光能量密度为0.265 J/cm2时,钛表面主要形成周期为500~560 nm低空间频率条纹结构;激光能量密度为0.102 J/cm2时,主要形成的是周期为220~340 nm高空间频率条纹结构。两种条纹均垂直于入射激光偏振方向,且条纹周期随着脉冲重叠数的增大而增大。在水中,除形成垂直激光偏振方向、周期为215~250 nm的高空间频率条纹结构,还形成了平行于激光偏振方向且周期约为入射激光波长八分之一的高空间频率条纹结构。利用表面等离子体理论、二次谐波及Sipe理论对各种周期条纹结构的形成机理进行分析,发现周期条纹结构的形成与钛表面氧化层有密切的关系。  相似文献

We use a scanning capacitance probe to image transport in the quantum Hall system. Applying a dc bias voltage to the tip induces a ring-shaped incompressible strip (IS) in the 2D electron system (2DES) that moves with the tip. At certain tip positions, short-range disorder in the 2DES creates a quantum dot island in the IS. These islands enable resonant tunneling across the IS, enhancing its conductance by more than 4 orders of magnitude. The images provide a quantitative measure of disorder and suggest resonant tunneling as the primary mechanism for transport across ISs.  相似文献

提出一种利用表面等离子体耦合的金属光栅结构,该光栅结构因入射光的方向和耦合表面等离子体的条件不同,从不同方向入射时会有不同的透射率。周期为500 nm、填充因子为0.7的Au-SiO2光栅结构在565~589 nm波段具有单向透射性。当填充因子为0.662时,最大透射对比率达3×104。当光栅厚度为60 nm时,入射波长在570~630 nm之间的透射对比率均可达到5以上,最高透射率为43%。当光栅周期为1 100 nm时,1 530~1 590 nm波段的透射对比率均大于5,可以满足中红外波段的应用。  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate third-harmonic generation (THG) by intense femtosecond laser pulse at a central wavelength of ??800?nm superposed by its second harmonic in air. The third-harmonic signal shows a periodic modulation with a period of ??0.67?fs when the delay between fundamental and second-harmonic wave is continuously changed. The periodic modulation of THG can be attributed to the interference of third-harmonic signals generated from a direct THG channel (3??=??+??+??) and a four-wave mixing (FWM) channel (3??=2??+2?????). With high pump intensity, the fitting of the measured TH spectrum as a function of delay implies that the pump pulse undergoes a strong pulse splitting and self-phase modulation at the focus.  相似文献

We predict that interfaces of periodically curved waveguide arrays can support a novel type of surface states which exist in a certain region of modulation parameters associated with the band flattening. Such linear surface states appear in truncated but otherwise perfect (defect-free) lattices as a direct consequence of the periodic modulation of the lattice potential. We show that the existence of these modes in different band gaps can be flexibly controlled by selecting the modulation profile, with no restrictions on Bloch-wave symmetries characteristic of Shockley states.  相似文献
