Molecular magnet {NBu4[Fe Cr(ox)3]}x (NBu4+=tetra(n-buty1) ammonium ion; ox2−=oxalate ion) was synthesized under an applied low magnetic field of 0.3 T in comparison to that synthesized without a field. Their crystallinities, morphologies and magnetic properties were characterized by using the X-ray diffractionmeter, the transmission electron microscope, and a superconducting quantum interference device. It is found that the average size of particles synthesized under the applied field appears larger than that synthesized without a field. Moreover, its crystallinity, morphology and magnetic susceptibility have also been improved. However, its chemical structure and ferromagnetic phase transition temperature Tc do not change. Possible reasons to explain this effect are also discussed.  相似文献

The temperature dependences of the heat capacity, the magnetic susceptibility, and the splitting of the ground Kramers doublet of the Nd3+ ion in the chain magnet Nd2BaNiO5 are studied. An antiferromagnetic phase transition manifests itself as anomalies in all these dependences. The parameters of the Nd-Ni and Nd-Nd interactions are estimated. The field dependence of the magnetization has two anomalies. A strong magnetic anisotropy prevents the magnetic moments of the Nd3+ ion from deviating from axis c in the crystal even in an external magnetic field. The processes of magnetization and the internal specific features of a chain of spins S = 1 are discussed.  相似文献

The effect of an external magnetic field with a strength up to 140 kOe on the phase transitions in manganese arsenide single crystals has been investigated. The existence of unstable magnetic and crystal structures at temperatures above the Curie temperature T C = 308 K has been established. The displacements of manganese and arsenic atoms during the magnetostructural phase transition and the shift in the temperature of the first-order magnetostructural phase transition in a magnetic field have been determined. It has been shown that the magnetocaloric effect in a magnetic field of 140 kOe near the Curie temperature T C is equal to ??T ?? 13 K. A model of the superparamagnetic state in MnAs above the temperature T C has been proposed using the data on the magnetic properties and structural transformation in the region of the first-order magnetostructural phase transition. It has been demonstrated that, at temperatures close to T C, apart from the contribution to the change in the entropy from the change in the magnetization there is a significant contribution from the transformation of the crystal lattice due to the magnetostructural phase transition.  相似文献

Giant magnetoresistance in Ce-doped manganite systems   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The fascinating properties like giant magnetoresistance (GMR) effect, metal-insulator transition, charge ordering phenomenon etc. have made the divalent ion doped RMnO3 (R = rare-earth elements) an attractive system for investigation. Resistivity of these compounds shows a peak near the ferromagnetic transition temperature (T c ). The application of magnetic field inhibits the spin-disorder scattering and the resistivity decreases drastically. Keeping electrondoped superconductor Nd2?x Ce x CuO4 in mind we have doped RMnO3 (R = La, Pr, Nd) with tetravalent Ce ion. These compounds are very susceptible to the annealing treatment and belong to the orthorhombic perovskite phase. They show a very high value of resistivity at the peak and under the magnetic field the GMR effect is observed. For La0.7Ce0.3MnO3 and Pr0.7Ce0.3MnO3 the magnetoresistance ratio reaches about 54% and 82.5% respectively at 7.7 T. With the increase of the temperature the magnetic state changes from ferromagnetic to paramagnetic regime. This magnetic transition is not very sharp and the resistivity peak appears at a temperature higher than T c .  相似文献

The effect of doping of rare earth Pr3+ ion as a replacement of Sm3+ in Sm0.5Sr0.5MnO3 is investigated. Temperature dependent dc and ac magnetic susceptibility, resistivity, magnetoresistance measurements on chemically synthesized (Sm0.5−xPrx)Sr0.5MnO3 show various unusual features with doping level x=0.15. The frequency independent ferromagnetic to paramagnetic transition at higher temperature (∼191 K) followed by a frequency dependent reentrant magnetic transition at lower temperature (∼31 K) has been observed. The nature of this frequency dependent reentrant magnetic transition is described by a critical slowing down model of spin glasses. From non-linear ac susceptibility measurements it has been confirmed that the finite size ferromagnetic clusters are formed as a consequence of intrinsic phase separation, and undergo spin glass-like freezing below a certain temperature. There is an unusual observation of a 2nd harmonic peak in the non-linear ac susceptibility around this reentrant magnetic transition at low temperature (∼31 K). Arrott plots at 10 and 30 K confirm the existence of glassy ferromagnetism below this low temperature reentrant transition. Electronic- and magneto-transport measurements show a strong magnetic field—temperature history dependence and strong irreversibility with respect to the sweeping of magnetic field. These results are attributed to the effect of phase separation and kinetic arrest of the electronic phase in this phase separated manganite at low temperatures.  相似文献

The oxygen isotope effect in PrBaMn216-18 O5.97 manganite with an ordered cation arrangement is studied. The field dependences of magnetic susceptibility and magnetization are measured in the temperature range 100–270 K and magnetic fields up to 32 T. A significant increase in the temperature of the spin-reorientation antiferromagnet–ferromagnet phase transition is detected in samples enriched in heavy oxygen 18O (negative isotope effect). The transition temperature and the isotope effect depend strongly on the magnetic field. An H–T phase diagram is plotted for samples with various isotope compositions. An analysis of the experimental results demonstrates that the detected negative isotope effect and the giant positive isotope effect revealed earlier in doped manganites have the same nature. The mechanisms of appearance of isotope effects are discussed in terms of the double exchange model under a polaron narrowing of the free carrier band.  相似文献

We have investigated elastic, magnetic, thermal and structural properties of systems which exhibit induced magnetic behavior (TbP, PrSn3, Pr3Se4, Pr3Te4). Particular emphasis is given to phonon effects due to the crystalline electric field, phase transitions, and magnetic fields. TbP has a first order magnetic phase transition and both TbP, PrSn3 show a temperature dependence of the elastic constants, which can be explained with the known crystal field level scheme. The compounds Pr3S4, La3S4, Pr3Se4 exhibit structural instabilities at much higher temperatures than the magnetic or superconducting transition temperatures. Pr3Te4 does not exhibit a structural transition, but a strong elastic softening in a magnetic field. This effect is due to strong field dependent quadrupole transitions. All these systems are analyzed with respect to typical induced moment parameters.  相似文献

The temperature and field dependences of the specific magnetic moment of the anion-deficient La0.70Sr0.30MnO2.85 manganite have been measured. It is established, that the magnetic state of the sample studied is a cluster spin glass and it is the result of frustration of exchange Mn3+-O-Mn3+ interactions due to the redistribution of oxygen vacancies. The increase of the magnetic field leads to an increase in the degree of polarization of local spins of manganese. It is established using the magnetic criterion that a phase transition into the paramagnetic state for the anion-deficient La0.70Sr0.30MnO2.85 manganite is a thermodynamic second order phase transition. The causes and mechanism of the magnetic phase separation are discussed.  相似文献

The equations of state for the magnetic and elastic subsystems of a ferrimagnet are obtained in terms of the exchange–striction model. In the formulas derived for magnetic entropy, it is represented as the sum of the contributions of two magnetic sublattices of the ferrimagnet. One of the main characteristics of the magnetocaloric effect, viz., isothermal variation ΔS iso of the entropy in a magnetic field, is calculated for compounds RCo2 (R = Er, Ho, Dy) that experience a first-order magnetic phase transition and TbCo2 that experiences a second-order magnetic phase transition. It is shown that the calculated values of ΔS iso for these compounds are in satisfactory quantitative agreement with experimental results. The change in the entropy of a ferrimagnet in a strong magnetic field upon a transition from the ferrimagnetic to ferromagnetic ordering is calculated. The peculiarities in the magnetic field dependences of the magnetic entropy of a two-sublattice ferrimagnet are analyzed.  相似文献

The magneto-transport properties are investigated in metamagnetic CoMnSi0.88Ge0.12 alloy.By applying a magnetic field or increasing temperature,a metamagnetic phase transition from antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic is observed in this alloy.Around the metamagnetic phase transition,CoMnSi0.88Ge0.12 alloy exhibits a large and negative magnetoresistance effect(~32%) under a magnetic field of 20 kOe(1 Oe = 79.5775 A/m),which is ascribed to the spin-dependent scattering of conduction electrons.  相似文献

The effect of a magnetic field on the dielectric properties of Tb0.95Bi0.05MnO3+δ single crystals has been analyzed. It has been shown that the state of the crystal for temperatures of 5–440 K is inhomogeneous and restricted domains of polar and spin correlations are exhibited in it. A phase transition in which the inhomogeneous state of the crystal changes substantially has been observed at a temperature of T ? 180 and 225 K (in the absence and presence of a magnetic field, respectively). The high-temperature phase contains large dielectric domains with a high dielectric constant (ε ~ 105) and thin conducting layers at the boundaries of these domains. The magnetic field significantly affects the state of both low-and high-temperature phases of the crystal, shifting the temperature of the phase transition between them, and induces an additional phase transition at T ? 441 K.  相似文献

We study the conductivity and magnetic susceptibility of single-crystal iron monosilicide in ultrahigh magnetic fields (up to 500 T) at low temperatures. The experimental methods used in measuring the conductivity and magnetic susceptibility are discussed. At 77K we detect a gradual increase in the conductivity of iron monosilicide by more than a factor of 100 as the magnetic field gets stronger. At 4.2K we detect a first-order phase transition in a field of 355 T accompanied by a sudden change in the value of the magnetic moment by 0.95 μ B per iron atom and a transition to a phase with high conductivity. The results are discussed within the scope of the spin-fluctuation theory. Zh. éksp. Teor. Fiz. 116, 1770–1780 (November 1999)  相似文献

The magnetic properties of an antiferromagnet with trigonal symmetry, namely, HoFe3(BO3)4, have been investigated theoretically. The calculations have been performed in the molecular field approximation and in the framework of the crystal field model for the rare-earth subsystem. Extensive experimental data on the magnetic properties of HoFe3(BO3)4 have been interpreted and good agreement between theory and experiment has been achieved using the obtained theoretical dependences. The spontaneous spin-reorientation transition and the spin-reorientation transition induced by a magnetic field Ba from the easy-axis to easy-plane state, as well as the spin-flop transition in a magnetic field Bc, have been described. It has been shown that the spontaneous spin-reorientation transition is a magnetic analog of the Jahn-Teller effect. The temperature dependences of the initial magnetic susceptibility at temperatures ranging from 2 to 300 K, the nonlinear curves of magnetization for Bc and Bc in a magnetic field up to 1.2 T (which indicate the occurrence of first-order phase transitions), and their evolution with variations in the temperature have been described, as well as the temperature and field dependences of the magnetization in a magnetic field up to 9 T. The parameters of the trigonal crystal field for the rare-earth ion Ho3+ and the parameters of the Fe-Fe and Ho-Fe exchange interactions have been determined in the course of interpretation of the experimental data.  相似文献

The effect of magnetic inhomogeneity on magnetic, magnetocaloric, and transport properties of the colossal magnetoresistance manganites with first order ferromagnetic-to-paramagnetic phase transition is studied. The experiments were performed on the single-crystalline samples of La0.6Pr0.1Ca0.3MnO3. The inhomogeneity is described by the Curie temperature distribution function, which is found from the magnetization data. The temperature dependence of the magnetic field induced change in the entropy is shown to be determined by the distribution function and the shift of the transition temperature in a magnetic field. Similarly, magnetoresistance in the transition region is determined by the resistivity at H=0 and the shift of the transition temperature. The maximum entropy change as well as maximum magnetoresistance can be achieved in the magnetic field of order δTC/BM where δTC is the transition width and BM is the rate of change of the Curie temperature with magnetic field. Our approach to analysis of the effects of inhomogeneity is general and therefore can be used for all compounds with the first order magnetic phase transition.  相似文献

An ordered state with a complex magnetic structure has been observed below 4CK. The magnetization for H ⊥ c (c; the c-axis) shows a field-induced phase transition from a small magnetic moment state ( ~ 0.6μB) at lower fields to a larger moment one ( 2.2 - 2.5μB) above 25kG. The transition field depends on temperature and is found to be 5 - 2kG. The magnetization for H//c has only a sublinear field dependence. Above 40K the magnetic susceptibility obeys the Curie-Weiss law with θ = +1.3K and the molar Curie constant Cm = 6.78, which suggests that Eu ion is divalent in C6Eu.  相似文献

The results of measurements of thermal properties (specific heat) of potassium holmium double tungstate KHo(WO4)2 as a function of temperature (from 0.5 to 300?K) and magnetic field (up to 2?T) are presented. The total specific heat without the phonon and Schottky contributions is found to have the anomaly with maximum at T SPT?~?5?K. This anomaly is likely related with the structural phase transition (SPT) caused by the cooperative Jahn–Teller effect. The increase of specific heat at very low temperatures and its shift towards high temperatures with increasing magnetic field are observed. The origin of this behaviour can be connected with possible magnetic phase transition induced by magnetic field.  相似文献

It has been found that the magnetic susceptibility of (Sm0.5Gd0.5)0.55Sr0.45MnO3 ceramic samples in zero external magnetic field exhibits a sharp peak near the temperature of 48.5 K with a small temperature hysteresis that does not depend on the frequency of measurements and is characteristic of the phase transition to an antiferromagnetic state with a long-range charge orbital ordering, which is accompanied by an increase in the magnetic susceptibility with a decrease in the temperature. The magnetization isotherms in static and pulsed magnetic fields at temperatures below 60 K demonstrate the occurrence of an irreversible metamagnetic transition to a homogeneous ferromagnetic state with a critical transition field independent of the measurement temperature, which, apparently, is associated with the destruction of the insulating state with a long-range charge ordering. In the temperature range 60 K ?? T ?? 150 K, the ceramic samples undergo a magnetic-field-induced reversible phase transition to the ferromagnetic state, which is similar to the metamagnetic transition in the low-temperature phase and is caused by the destruction of local charge/orbital correlations. With an increase in the temperature, the critical transition fields increase almost linearly and the field hysteresis disappears. Near the critical fields of magnetic phase transitions, small ultra-narrow magnetization steps have been revealed in pulsed fields with a high rate of change in the magnetic field of ??400 kOe/??s.  相似文献

The Mössbauer effect provides a direct method for identifying the spin axis in magnetic crystals and observing magnetic phase transitions. The order of the transition may be inferred from the Mössbauer spectrum. Phase changes can occur as a function of temperature (e.g. when the anisotropy fieldB A changes sign) or as a function of applied magnetic field. In an antiferromagnet a field ?(2B E B A)1/2 along the spin axis whereB E is the exchange field causes the spin-flop transition which is normally first order (sharp) whereas the transition to the paramagnetic phase which occurs at higher fields?2B E is second order (continuous). In quasi-one-dimensional crystals Mössbauer spectra show that the spin-flop transition is first order locally but occurs over a range of fields throughout the crystal, so that the first order character is masked in a conventional magnetization measurement. In fields applied at a finite angle>B A/2B E to the spin axis the transition becomes second order, i.e. a continuous rotation of the spins occurs. In canted antiferromagnets (or weak ferromagnets) the spin-flop transition is also continuous; in addition a “screw” re-orientation may be induced by fields applied perpendicular to the spin axis and arises from antisymmetric exchange. For crystals with lowT N the hyperfine field changes when a magnetic field is applied and has a minimum at a phase transition; this may be used to map out the magnetic phase diagram.  相似文献

A method of high-resolution time-resolved optical spectroscopy using oscillations of the photon echo intensity in the presence of a perturbation, which splits the optical frequencies of the transitions of two or more ion subgroups, has been proposed and demonstrated. This method has been applied to systems in which the Zee-man effect is manifested. The transition frequencies of ions are switched by a pulsed magnetic field. Oscillations of the photon echo intensity were observed in LiLuF4:Er3+ and LiYF4:Er3+. The first minimum corresponding to the accumulated phase of the electric dipole moment π/2 is reached in the pulsed magnetic field with an amplitude of ~2 G at a duration of 30 ns. The Zeeman splitting in this field is ~10 MHz, which is much less than the laser spectral width (0.15 Å ~ 9 GHz). The g factor of the 4 F 9/2(I) excited state of the Er3+ ion in the LiLuF4 matrix has been determined in zero magnetic field. The comparison with the g-factor value found from the measurement of the absorption spectrum in a magnetic field of 8 kG has been performed.  相似文献
