The influence of different regimes of application of a dc electric field (0 < E < 4 kV/cm) on structural phase transformations and behavior of the phase boundary in [001]-oriented single crystals PMg1/3Nb2/3O3-xPbTiO3 (PMN-xPT) with compositions near the morphotropic phase boundary (x = 28 and 32%) and far from it (x = 13%) has been investigated. The studies have been performed using optical methods, namely, optical transmittance and small-angle light scattering. It has been revealed that the number, symmetry, and stability of field-induced phases depend on the regime of electric field application. During cooling of the PMN-28PT crystals from the cubic phase in the field (FC regime), the tetragonal phase is induced already in weak fields of ∼0.5 kV/cm, whereas even a field of 3 kV/cm is insufficient for inducing this phase by applying the field in the ferroelectric phase. In the PMN-32PT crystal (which has a composition closer to the morphotropic phase boundary as compared to that of the PMN-28PT crystal) in the FC regime and when the field is applied in the ferroelectric phase, the tetragonal phase is induced already in weak electric fields, even though this phase in the latter case appears to be unstable. The E-T phase diagrams have been constructed for different regimes of field application. The possible factors responsible for the observed differences have been discussed.  相似文献

The influence of x-ray irradiation to absorbed radiation doses D = (0.5?12) × 108 rad on the properties of ferroelectric ceramic Pb(TixZr1?x )O3 solid solutions with compositions close to the morphotropic phase boundary was studied. The effects of x-ray radiation on the electrical conductivity of ferroelectric ceramics are shown to differ with x ranging from 0.42 to 0.60. Using empirical equations and numerical techniques, quantitative relations are established between the composition, absorbed radiation dose, and electrical conductivity for Pb(TixZr1?x )O3.  相似文献

Phase pure perovskite (1−xy)Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3-xPb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-yPbTiO3 (PNN-PZN-PT) ferroelectric ceramics were prepared by conventional solid-state reaction method via a B-site oxide mixing route. The PNN-PZN-PT ceramics sintered at the optimized condition of 1185 °C for 2 h exhibit high relative density and rather homogenous microstructure. With the increase of PbTiO3 (PT) content, crystal structure and electrical properties of the synthesized PNN-PZN-PT ceramics exhibit successive phase transformation. A morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) is supposed to form in (0.9−x)PNN-0.1PZN-xPT at a region of x=32-36 mol% confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurement and dielectric measurement. The MPB composition can be pictured as providing a “bridge” connecting rhombohedral ferroelectric (FE) phase and tetragonal one since crystal structure of the MPB composition is similar to both the rhombohedral and tetragonal lattices. Dielectric response of the sintered PNN-PZN-PT ceramics also exhibits successive phase-transition character. 0.64PNN-0.1PZN-0.26PT exhibits broad, diffused and frequency dependent dielectric peaks indicating a character of diffused FE-paraelectric (PE) phase transition of relaxor ferroelectrics and 0.40PNN-0.1PZN-0.50PT exhibits narrow, sharp and frequency independent dielectric peaks indicating a character of first-order FE-PE phase transition of normal ferroelectrics. The FE-PE phase transition of 0.56PNN-0.1PZN-0.34PT is nearly first-order with some diffused character, which also exhibits the largest value of piezoelectric constant d33 of 462pC/N.  相似文献

Lead-free (Na0.5K0.5)NbO3-based piezoelectric ceramics were successfully fabricated by substituting with a small amount of BiFeO3 (BF). Difficulty in sintering of pure NKN ceramics can be eased by adding a few molar percent of BF, and the crystalline structure is also changed, leading to a morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) between ferroelectric orthorhombic and rhombohedral phases. The MPB exists near the 1-2 mol% BF-substituted NKN compositions, exhibiting enhanced ferroelectric, piezoelectric, and electromechanical properties of Pr=23.3 μC/cm2, d33=185 pC/N, and kp=46%, compared to an ordinarily sintered pure NKN ceramics. The MPB composition has a Curie temperature of ∼370 °C, comparable to that of some commercial PZT materials.  相似文献

X-ray diffraction investigations have revealed that, in the system of solid solutions 0.9(Na1 ? x K x Bi)1/2TiO3-0.1Bi(ZnTi)1/2O3, there is a morphotropic phase boundary in the potassium concentration range of x ≈ 0.25, which separates the regions of compositions with rhombohedral (R3c) and tetragonal (P4mm) structures. It has been shown that, in the vicinity of this boundary, ceramic samples of the studied system exhibit properties of relaxor ferroelectrics. The results of the investigation into the dielectric properties of relaxor ceramics of the composition x = 0.3 with the use of the impedance spectra measured in the frequency range from 25 to 106 Hz at temperatures from 100 to 900 K have been presented. It has been found that, in the temperature region of the existence of the relaxor state lying below the temperature corresponding to the maximum of the real part of the permittivity (T m = 550 K), the dielectric polarization is determined by the sum of the contributions from the matrix and dipole clusters. The temperature dependence of the contribution from the clusters, which is determined by the kinetics of their formation and freezing, is characterized by a curve with the maximum at approximately 400 K. The process of freezing of dipole clusters occurs over an extended temperature range of more than 200 K.  相似文献

The optical transmission spectra from 0.3 to 11 μm of relaxor ferroelectric single crystals (1−x)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-xPbTiO3 (PMN-xPT) were systematically studied at room temperature in this paper. The crystal is transparent between 0.45 and 5.5 μm and becomes completely absorbing around 0.4 μm in near UV region and 10 μm in infrared region. But the wavelength cutoff in near UV is much sharper than the long wavelength cutoff. As compared with other configurations, tetragonal single crystals possess the optimal transmission properties. The optical transmittance in the wavelength region from 0.45 to 5.5 μm is about 70%. The results show that tetragonal PMN-xPT single crystals are promising for a wide range of optical applications. Some discussions about the oxygen-octahedra structure that determines the basic energy level of the crystals are also presented on the optical properties of PMN-xPT single crystals.  相似文献

Piezoelectric ceramics with compositions of (0.90−x)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-xPbTiO3-0.10PbZrO3, x=0.28, 0.31, 0.34, 0.37, 0.40 and 0.43, were prepared using the conventional columbite precursor method, and their structural phase transformation and piezoelectric behaviors near the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) have been systematically investigated as a function of PbTiO3 content. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results demonstrate that the structure of the ceramics experiences a gradual transition process from rhombohedral phase to tetragonal phase with the increasing of PbTiO3 content, and that compositions with x=0.34-0.40 lie in the MPB region of this ternary system. A Raman spectra investigation of the ceramic samples testified to the transformation process of rhombohedral phase to tetragonal phase by comparing the relative intensities of tetragonal E(2TO1) mode and rhombohedral phase Rh mode. The structure information was also correlated to the parabola change of the piezoelectric constant; the maximum piezoelectric constants were obtained near the MPB region.  相似文献

Dependences of the relative permittivity on the external bias electric field of ceramics of the yPZN-mPMN-nPNN-xPT (x = 0.25?C0.40) system have been studied. The evolution of domain processes during the concentration transition from classical ferroelectric to relaxor ferroelectric has been shown. Tentative conclusions on the mechanisms of electric field-induced transitions from the relaxor state to the ??normal?? ferroelectric state have been drawn.  相似文献

(1 – x)Pb(Hf1–yTiy)O3x Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 (x = 0.1 ~ 0.25, y = 0.555) ternary piezoelectric ceramics were prepared using the two‐step precursor method. Morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) compositions, located at x = 0.18 ~ 0.22, were confirmed using X‐ray diffraction and by their dielectric, piezoelectric and ferroelectric properties. The optimum dielectric and piezoelectric properties were achieved for the MPB composition 0.8Pb(Hf0.445Ti0.555)O3–0.2Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3, with dielectric permittivity εr, piezoelectric coefficient d33, planar electromechanical coupling kp and Curie temperature TC being on the order of 2800, 680 pC/N, 70% and 276 °C, respectively. Of particular significance is that the new ternary ceramics exhibit comparable piezoelectric and electromechanical properties to commercial PZT5H ceramics, but with much improved TC, showing a potential for applications at elevated temperature. This paper discusses the phenomena observed in the vicinity of the morphotropic phase boundary in Pb(Ti1?x Zrx)O3 (PZT) solid solutions. The location of the boundary between the stable tetragonal ferroelectric phase and the stable rhombohedral ferroelectric phase is calculated, and an analytical expression for determining the concentration range of the possible coexistence of these phases is derived. According to the numerical estimates, the concentration range can be as much as 20 mol % lead zirconate. However, reliable experimental data in support of these estimates are as yet unavailable.  相似文献

The dielectric, optical, and electro-optical properties of transparent ferroelectric ceramics 75PbMg1/3Nb2/3O3-25PbTiO3 (75PMN-25PT) with different La concentrations (2, 3, and 4 at %) have been studied. It has been shown that all the samples under study undergo a diffuse phase transition, and the degree of diffuseness increases with an increase in the La concentration. The temperature dependences of the optical transmission in different regimes of applying an electric field and the quadratic electro-optical effect have been investigated. It has been found that, at room temperature, the maximum electro-optical effect is observed in the ceramics with a La concentration of 3 at %. This is explained by the fact that the measurement temperature is close to the Vogel-Fulcher temperature at which the minimum electric field is required to induce ferroelectric states from the relaxor phase.  相似文献

The kinetics of electric field-induced nucleation of ordered ferroelectric phases from a mixed glassy relaxor state has been studied in a number of single-crystal (1–x)PbMg1/3Nb2/3O3xPbTiO3 (PMN–xPT) solid solutions (x = 29, 33, 35%) lying in a morphotropic phase region. It is shown that the formation of these phases and fast establishment of a macroscopic polarization are preceded by some delay time, depending on the electric field strength and temperature. It is found that the monoclinic phase is thermodynamically stable at room temperature in all the compounds in the time (~3000 s) and electric field (~1 kV/cm) ranges under study, whereas the monoclinic phase of the compound with x = 35% transforms, at temperatures near the temperature of the morphotropic phase transition after insignificant time interval of ~100 s, to another stable ferroelectric tetragonal phase.  相似文献

Perovskite types Ba1−xCaxTi0.6Zr0.4O3 (with x=0.0-0.5) ceramics have been prepared through solid state reaction route. The room temperature XRD study suggests the compositions with x=0.0 and x=0.1 have single phase cubic symmetry. With further increase in Ca content, solid solution breaks and an orthorhombic CaTiO3 like phase is developed. The dielectric study on single phase compositions (x=0.0 and 0.1) reveals that the materials are of relaxor type and undergo a diffuse type ferroelectric phase transition. In the Ca containing composition higher transition temperature is observed than the pure BaTi0.6Zr0.4O3 materials. In the paraelectric region (above Tc) lower diffusivity is observed in the Ca containing composition. The strength of relaxation is calculated and found to be more in Ca containing material than that of pure BaTi0.6Zr0.4O3 composition.  相似文献

The piezoelectric properties of Pb[(Fe1/3Sb2/3) x Ti y Zr z ]O3 with x + y + z = 1, x = 0.1, y = 0.43–0.48 ceramics have been investigated over a broad temperature range using a resonance technique. The influence of modification of PZT normal ferroelectric synthesized near the morphotropic phase boundary by a relaxor Pb(Fe1/3Sb2/3)O3 compound on its physical properties was studied. The coefficients s 11, k 31, and d 31 were calculated from the parameters characterizing the behavior of damped harmonic oscillator in the vicinity of the piezoelectric resonance. Several anomalies of the piezoelectric coefficients have been found in the temperature range 300–600 K. Two diffuse phase transitions were observed in Pb[(Fe1/3Sb2/3) x Ti y Zr z ]O3. The anomaly near 530 K for y = 0.43 is responsible for the transition from the rhombohedral phase to the tetragonal one. For y > 0.44 this transition is found to be very diffuse and the coexistence of rhombohedral and tetragonal phases occurs. The observation of low piezoelectric activity confirms the existence of polar regions in Pb[(Fe1/3Sb2/3) x Ti y Zr z ]O3 above T m.  相似文献

The dielectric and electromechanical characteristics of the (1?x)PMN-xPZT ferroelectric ceramics have been obtained at different temperatures, amplitudes, and frequencies of the measuring field and at different bias field strengths. It is shown that this ferroelectric ceramics at low and infralow frequencies possesses pronounced relaxor properties in a certain temperature range and ferroelectric properties in other temperature range. The temperature and amplitude ranges have been determined, in which the permittivity ?′ either only decreases or first increases and then decreases with an increase in the measuring field amplitude E 0. The temperature ranges of existing the phases similar to the superparaelectric phase, dipole glass phase, and ferroelectric phase are evaluated from the temperature dependences of the coercive field E c (T) and the remanent polarization P r (T) and also from the reverse dependences of ?* and the electromechanical characteristics. The PZT concentration in the PMN-PZT system is determined, at which the electrostrictive constant M 11 is maximum. It is demonstrated that, in the neighborhood of the temperature at a maximum of ?′, the strain S 3 is quadratic in the field E =; that is, S 3=M 11 E 2.  相似文献

Perovskite type Ba1? x Sr x Ti0.6Zr0.4O3 (with x = 0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.5) ceramics have been synthesized through solid oxide reaction route. The room temperature XRD study suggests the compositions have single phase cubic symmetry. Microstructural studies have shown a step decrease in grain size. The dielectric study reveals that the materials are of relaxor type and undergo a diffuse type ferroelectric phase transition. The diffusivity increases with increase in Sr contents in the studied composition range. The transition temperature decreases with increase in Sr contents due to the decrease in grain size.  相似文献

Sub-coercive field dynamic ferroelectric hysteresis of a morphotropic phase boundary composition of the PZT-PZN ceramic was investigated under influence of the compressive stress. The scaling relation of hysteresis area 〈A〉 against frequency f, field amplitude E0, and stress σ took a form of , which is not different significantly to that of other PZT-PZN compositions with pure tetragonal or rhombohedral structure, as well as to that of soft and hard PZT bulk ceramics. This study suggested that the domain structures, not ceramic compositions, played a key role in controlling dynamic hysteresis behavior of ferroelectric materials.  相似文献

Electric-field-induced strain behavior of (1−x)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-xPbTiO3 (PMNT) crystals with different orientations and compositions was investigated for use as electromechanical actuators. Crystallographically, high strains with low hysteresis were achieved for 〈001〉 oriented rhombohedral crystals (29%≤x≤31%) near a morphotropic phase boundary, rather than 〈110〉 and 〈111〉. Domain instability could explain inferior strain levels and large hysteresis for 〈110〉 and 〈111〉 oriented crystals. Ultrahigh strain levels up to 1.8% could be achieved for 〈001〉 oriented PMNT crystals, being related to an E-field induced phase transition. −2 kV/cm negative E-field can be applied to PMNT ferroelectric material with low hysteresis. High strain with low hysteresis makes PMNT crystals promising candidates for high performance solid-state actuators.  相似文献

The specific features of the dielectric and pyroelectric responses of a solid solution in the barium-doped multicomponent yPbZn1/3Nb2/3O3-mPbMg1/3Nb2/3O3-nPbNi1/3Nb2/3O3-xPbTiO3 system of the composition y = 0.0982, m = 0.4541, n = 0.1477, and x = 0.3 near the morphotropic phase boundary have been investigated. It has been assumed that the maxima revealed in the dependences of the reversible permittivity on the electric field strength with both the forward and backward changes in the field (E =) are associated with the induced phase transition. Based on the experimental results, the E-T phase diagrams are constructed in the temperature range from ?100 to 150°C for different temperature-field regimes: (i) variation in the electric field E = at a fixed temperature of the sample and (ii) variation in the temperature of the sample at a constant value of E =. It has been found that there is a singular point in the E-T phase diagram and that, in the vicinity of this point, the dielectric and pyroelectric responses of the studied ceramics exhibit specific features.  相似文献

The cooling of Pb1?x BaxSc0.5Nb0.5O3 solid solutions with x≤0.04 leads to a spontaneous transition from a relaxor to a macrodomain ferroelectric state, accompanied by anomalous variation of the dielectric and optical properties of the material. As the barium content in the system increases, the relaxor state becomes more stable and eventually “freezes” at x≈0.05. The crystals with x=0.06 exhibited the appearance of a macrodomain ferroelectric phase induced both by an external electric field with a strength of 1.5 kV/cm and by an internal electric field formed in the course of dielectric aging.  相似文献
