We first propose a new class of smoothing functions for the nonlinear complementarity function which contains the well-known Chen-Harker-Kanzow-Smale smoothing function and Huang-Han-Chen smoothing function as special cases, and then present a smoothing inexact Newton algorithm for the P 0 nonlinear complementarity problem. The global convergence and local superlinear convergence are established. Preliminary numerical results indicate the feasibility and efficiency of the algorithm.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new smooth function that possesses a property not satisfied by the existing smooth functions. Based on this smooth function, we discuss the existence and continuity of the smoothing path for solving theP 0 function nonlinear complementarity problem ( NCP). Using the characteristics of the new smooth function, we investigate the boundedness of the iteration sequence generated by the non-interior continuation methods for solving theP 0 function NCP under the assumption that the solution set of the NCP is nonempty and bounded. We show that the assumption that the solution set of the NCP is nonempty and bounded is weaker than those required by a few existing continuation methods for solving the NCP  相似文献

In this paper, we first investigate a two-parametric class of smoothing functions which contains the penalized smoothing Fischer-Burmeister function and the penalized smoothing CHKS function as special cases. Then we present a smoothing Newton method for the nonlinear complementarity problem based on the class of smoothing functions. Issues such as line search rule, boundedness of the level set, global and quadratic convergence are studied. In particular, we give a line search rule containing the common used Armijo-type line search rule as a special case. Also without requiring strict complementarity assumption at the P0-NCP solution or the nonemptyness and boundedness of the solution set, the proposed algorithm is proved to be globally convergent. Preliminary numerical results show the efficiency of the algorithm and provide efficient domains of the two parameters for the complementarity problems.  相似文献

By smoothing a perturbed minimum function, we propose in this paper a new smoothing function. The existence and continuity of a smooth path for solving the nonlinear complementarity problem (NCP) with a P 0 function are discussed. We investigate the boundedness of the iteration sequence generated by noninterior continuation/smoothing methods under the assumption that the solution set of the NCP is nonempty and bounded. Based on the new smoothing function, we present a predictor-corrector smoothing Newton algorithm for solving the NCP with a P 0 function, which is shown to be globally linearly and locally superlinearly convergent under suitable assumptions. Some preliminary computational results are reported.  相似文献

A smoothing inexact Newton method for nonlinear complementarity problems   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this article, we propose a new smoothing inexact Newton algorithm for solving nonlinear complementarity problems (NCP) base on the smoothed Fischer-Burmeister function. In each iteration, the corresponding linear system is solved only approximately. The global convergence and local superlinear convergence are established without strict complementarity assumption at the NCP solution. Preliminary numerical results indicate that the method is effective for large-scale NCP.  相似文献

In this paper, a new hybrid method is proposed for solving nonlinear complementarity problems (NCP) with P 0 function. In the new method, we combine a smoothing nonmonotone trust region method based on a conic model and line search techniques. We reformulate the NCP as a system of semismooth equations using the Fischer-Burmeister function. Using Kanzow’s smooth approximation function to construct the smooth operator, we propose a smoothing nonmonotone trust region algorithm of a conic model for solving the NCP with P 0 functions. This is different from the classical trust region methods, in that when a trial step is not accepted, the method does not resolve the trust region subproblem but generates an iterative point whose steplength is defined by a line search. We prove that every accumulation point of the sequence generated by the algorithm is a solution of the NCP. Under a nonsingularity condition, the superlinear convergence of the algorithm is established without a strict complementarity condition.  相似文献

A popular approach to solving the complementarity problem is to reformulate it as an equivalent system of smooth equations via a smoothing complementarity function. In this paper, first we propose a new class of smoothing complementarity functions, which contains the natural residual smoothing function and the Fischer–Burmeister smoothing function for symmetric cone complementarity problems. Then we give some unified formulae of the Fréchet derivatives associated with Jordan product. Finally, the derivative of the new proposed class of smoothing complementarity functions is deduced over symmetric cones.  相似文献

Jacobian smoothing Brown’s method for nonlinear complementarity problems (NCP) is studied in this paper. This method is a generalization of classical Brown’s method. It belongs to the class of Jacobian smoothing methods for solving semismooth equations. Local convergence of the proposed method is proved in the case of a strictly complementary solution of NCP. Furthermore, a locally convergent hybrid method for general NCP is introduced. Some numerical experiments are also presented.  相似文献

There recently has been much interest in smoothing Newton method for solving nonlinear complementarity problems. We extend such method to symmetric cone complementarity problems (SCCP). In this paper, we first investigate a one-parametric class of smoothing functions in the context of symmetric cones, which contains the Fischer–Burmeister smoothing function and the CHKS smoothing function as special cases. Then we propose a smoothing Newton method for the SCCP based on the one-parametric class of smoothing functions. For the proposed method, besides the classical step length, we provide a new step length and the global convergence is obtained. Finally, preliminary numerical results are reported, which show the effectiveness of the two step lengthes in the algorithm and provide efficient domains of the parameter for the complementarity problems.  相似文献

In last decades, there has been much effort on the solution and the analysis of the mixed complementarity problem (MCP) by reformulating MCP as an unconstrained minimization involving an MCP function. In this paper, we propose a new modified one-step smoothing Newton method for solving general (not necessarily P0) mixed complementarity problems based on well-known Chen-Harker-Kanzow-Smale smooth function. Under suitable assumptions, global convergence and locally superlinear convergence of the algorithm are established.  相似文献

A Smoothing Newton Method for General Nonlinear Complementarity Problems   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
Smoothing Newton methods for nonlinear complementarity problems NCP(F) often require F to be at least a P 0-function in order to guarantee that the underlying Newton equation is solvable. Based on a special equation reformulation of NCP(F), we propose a new smoothing Newton method for general nonlinear complementarity problems. The introduction of Kanzow and Pieper's gradient step makes our algorithm to be globally convergent. Under certain conditions, our method achieves fast local convergence rate. Extensive numerical results are also reported for all complementarity problems in MCPLIB and GAMSLIB libraries with all available starting points.  相似文献

The nonlinear complementarity problem (denoted by NCP(F)) can be reformulated as the solution of a nonsmooth system of equations. In this paper, we propose a new smoothing and regularization Newton method for solving nonlinear complementarity problem with P 0-function (P 0-NCP). Without requiring strict complementarity assumption at the P 0-NCP solution, the proposed algorithm is proved to be convergent globally and superlinearly under suitable assumptions. Furthermore, the algorithm has local quadratic convergence under mild conditions. Numerical experiments indicate that the proposed method is quite effective. In addition, in this paper, the regularization parameter ε in our algorithm is viewed as an independent variable, hence, our algorithm seems to be simpler and more easily implemented compared to many previous methods.  相似文献

In this paper we take a new look at smoothing Newton methods for solving the nonlinear complementarity problem (NCP) and the box constrained variational inequalities (BVI). Instead of using an infinite sequence of smoothing approximation functions, we use a single smoothing approximation function and Robinson’s normal equation to reformulate NCP and BVI as an equivalent nonsmooth equation H(u,x)=0, where H:ℜ 2n →ℜ 2n , u∈ℜ n is a parameter variable and x∈ℜ n is the original variable. The central idea of our smoothing Newton methods is that we construct a sequence {z k =(u k ,x k )} such that the mapping H(·) is continuously differentiable at each z k and may be non-differentiable at the limiting point of {z k }. We prove that three most often used Gabriel-Moré smoothing functions can generate strongly semismooth functions, which play a fundamental role in establishing superlinear and quadratic convergence of our new smoothing Newton methods. We do not require any function value of F or its derivative value outside the feasible region while at each step we only solve a linear system of equations and if we choose a certain smoothing function only a reduced form needs to be solved. Preliminary numerical results show that the proposed methods for particularly chosen smoothing functions are very promising. By using the Fischer–Burmeister function to reformulate the nonlinear complementarity problem (NCP) as a system of semismooth equations and using Kanzow’s smooth approximation function to construct the smooth operator, we propose a smoothing trust region algorithm for solving the NCP with P 0 functions. We prove that every accumulation point of the sequence generated by the algorithm is a solution of the NCP. Under a nonsingularity condition, local Q-superlinear/Q-quadratic convergence of the algorithm is established without the strict complementarity condition. In this paper we propose Jacobian smoothing inexact Newton method for nonlinear complementarity problems (NCP) with derivative-free nonmonotone line search. This nonmonotone line search technique ensures globalization and is a combination of Grippo-Lampariello-Lucidi (GLL) and Li-Fukushima (LF) strategies, with the aim to take into account their advantages. The method is based on very well known Fischer-Burmeister reformulation of NCP and its smoothing Kanzow’s approximation. The mixed Newton equation, which combines the semismooth function with the Jacobian of its smooth operator, is solved approximately in every iteration, so the method belongs to the class of Jacobian smoothing inexact Newton methods. The inexact search direction is not in general a descent direction and this is the reason why nonmonotone scheme is used for globalization. Global convergence and local superlinear convergence of method are proved. Numerical performances are also analyzed and point out that high level of nonmonotonicity of this line search rule enables robust and efficient method.  相似文献

A new smoothing algorithm for the solution of nonlinear complementarity problems (NCP) is introduced in this paper. It is based on semismooth equation reformulation of NCP by Fischer–Burmeister function and its related smooth approximation. In each iteration the corresponding linear system is solved only approximately. Since inexact directions are not necessarily descent, a nonmonotone technique is used for globalization procedure. Numerical results are also presented. Research supported by Ministry of Science, Republic of Serbia, grant No. 144006.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a one-parametric class of smoothing functions, which enjoys some favourable properties and includes two famous smoothing functions as special cases. Based on this class of smoothing functions, we propose a regularization Newton method for solving the non-linear complementarity problem. The main feature of the proposed method is that it uses a perturbed Newton equation to obtain the direction. This not only allows our method to have global and local quadratic convergences without strict complementarity conditions, but also makes the regularization parameter converge to zero globally Q-linearly. In addition, we use a new non-monotone line search scheme to obtain the step size. Some numerical results are reported which confirm the good theoretical properties of the proposed method.  相似文献

In this paper, we extend the one-parametric class of merit functions proposed by Kanzow and Kleinmichel [C. Kanzow, H. Kleinmichel, A new class of semismooth Newton-type methods for nonlinear complementarity problems, Comput. Optim. Appl. 11 (1998) 227-251] for the nonnegative orthant complementarity problem to the general symmetric cone complementarity problem (SCCP). We show that the class of merit functions is continuously differentiable everywhere and has a globally Lipschitz continuous gradient mapping. From this, we particularly obtain the smoothness of the Fischer-Burmeister merit function associated with symmetric cones and the Lipschitz continuity of its gradient. In addition, we also consider a regularized formulation for the class of merit functions which is actually an extension of one of the NCP function classes studied by [C. Kanzow, Y. Yamashita, M. Fukushima, New NCP functions and their properties, J. Optim. Theory Appl. 97 (1997) 115-135] to the SCCP. By exploiting the Cartesian P-properties for a nonlinear transformation, we show that the class of regularized merit functions provides a global error bound for the solution of the SCCP, and moreover, has bounded level sets under a rather weak condition which can be satisfied by the monotone SCCP with a strictly feasible point or the SCCP with the joint Cartesian R02-property. All of these results generalize some recent important works in [J.-S. Chen, P. Tseng, An unconstrained smooth minimization reformulation of the second-order cone complementarity problem, Math. Program. 104 (2005) 293-327; C.-K. Sim, J. Sun, D. Ralph, A note on the Lipschitz continuity of the gradient of the squared norm of the matrix-valued Fischer-Burmeister function, Math. Program. 107 (2006) 547-553; P. Tseng, Merit function for semidefinite complementarity problems, Math. Program. 83 (1998) 159-185] under a unified framework.  相似文献
