In complex structures, curvature and impedance discontinuities (e.g., junctions) couple bending and longitudinal waves. Propagation losses for longitudinal waves are often much less than losses for bending waves, and damping treatments often less effective on longitudinal waves. When the dissipation in longitudinal waves is less than that on bending waves, longitudinal waves can provide an efficient means of power flow between bending waves generated at one location and bending waves that are a source of acoustic radiation at another location. In order to design and locate effective treatments, knowledge of the power flow in longitudinal as well as bending waves is required. The measurement of power in both bending and longitudinal waves when both waves are present is demonstrated. Measurements conducted on a straight beam and a T-beam are compared to predictions obtained using finite element methods. The effect of coupling between waves at the junction in a T-beam is illustrated using results from measurements of power flow.  相似文献

Experimentally obtained visualizations of propagating inhomogeneous acoustic waves driven by zero-order antisymmetric Lamb waves (flexural waves) in water are presented. The inhomogeneous waves are visualized by optical holographic interferometry. A series of photographs show the evolution in time of instantaneous acoustic pressure distributions associated with propagating inhomogeneous waves. The photographs reveal characteristic features of flexurally driven inhomogeneous waves such as transversely attenuated wavefronts oriented perpendicularly to the plate boundary and a phase propagation velocity along the boundary approximately equal to the plate wave velocity (250 meters/second). Effects due to the dispersive nature of the flexural plate waves are also noted in the photographic series. Features distinguishing these subsonic, inhomogeneous surface waves (also called trapped or evanescent waves) from the leaky, lateral or head wave and also from incompressible fluid motions associated with low frequency vibrations of fluid loaded plates are identified. The relevance of inhomogeneous acoustic waves driven by subsonic flexural waves to practical sound-structure interaction problems is discussed.  相似文献

The tunneling of evanescent waves into propagating waves is related to the convolution of the high spatial frequencies of the source with those of the detectors. Such an approach is demonstrated by treating the evanescent waves which are diffracted from very narrow apertures in a plane screen (with dimensions much smaller than the wavelength) and are converted to propagating waves by tip detectors. The mechanism responsible for the conversion of evanescent waves into propagating waves is explained and a general formula for the conversion of evanescent waves into propagating waves is derived. The characteristic features and applications of linear and nonlinear guided elastic waves propagating along surfaces (2D) and wedges (1D) are discussed. Laser-based excitation, detection, or contact-free analysis of these guided waves with pump–probe methods are reviewed. Determination of material parameters by broadband surface acoustic waves (SAWs) and other applications in nondestructive evaluation (NDE) are considered. The realization of nonlinear SAWs in the form of solitary waves and as shock waves, used for the determination of the fracture strength, is described. The unique properties of dispersion-free wedge waves (WWs) propagating along homogeneous wedges and of dispersive wedge waves observed in the presence of wedge modifications such as tip truncation or coatings are outlined. Theoretical and experimental results on nonlinear wedge waves in isotropic and anisotropic solids are presented.  相似文献

These waves are a manifestation of aperiodic (in angle) solutions to the dynamic elasticity equations. By virtue of the bilinear method and the KP hierarchy reduction technique, exact explicit rational solutions of the multicomponent Mel’nikov equation and the multicomponent Schrödinger–Boussinesq equation are constructed, which contain multicomponent short waves and single-component long wave. For the multicomponent Mel’nikov equation, the fundamental rational solutions possess two different behaviours: lump and rogue wave. It is shown that the fundamental (simplest) rogue waves are line localised waves which arise from the constant background with a line profile and then disappear into the constant background again. The fundamental line rogue waves can be classified into three: bright, intermediate and dark line rogue waves. Two subclasses of non-fundamental rogue waves, i.e., multirogue waves and higher-order rogue waves are discussed. The multirogue waves describe interaction of several fundamental line rogue waves, in which interesting wave patterns appear in the intermediate time. Higher-order rogue waves exhibit dynamic behaviours that the wave structures start from lump and then retreat back to it. Moreover, by taking the parameter constraints further, general higher-order rogue wave solutions for the multicomponent Schrödinger–Boussinesq system are generated.  相似文献

The excitation of harmonic waves by an electron beam is studied with electrostatic simulations.The results suggest that the harmonic waves are excited during the linear stage of the simulation and are developed in the nonlinear stage.First,the Langmuir waves(LWs)are excited by the beam electrons.Then the coupling of the forward propagating LWs and beam modes will excite the second harmonic waves.The third harmonic waves will be produced if the lower velocity side of the beam still has a positive velocity gradient.The beam velocity decreases at the same time,which provides the energy for wave excitation.We find that it is difficult to excite the harmonic waves with the increase of the thermal velocity of the beam electrons.The beam electrons will be heated after waves are excited,and then the part of the forward propagating LWs will turn into electron acoustic waves under the condition with a large enough intensity of beam electrons.Moreover,the action of ions hardly affects the formation of harmonic waves.  相似文献

Guided waves propagating in cylindrical tubes are frequently applied for the characterization of material or geometrical properties of tubes. In a tube, guided waves can propagate in the axial direction and called axial guided waves, or in the circumferential direction called circumferential guided waves. Dispersion spectra for the axial and circumferential guided waves share some common behaviors and however exhibit some particular behaviors of their own. This study provides an investigation with theoretical modeling, experimental measurements, and a simplex-based inversion procedure to explore the similarity and difference between the axial guided waves and circumferential guided waves, aiming at providing useful information while axial and circumferential guided waves are applied in the area of material characterization. The sensitivity to the radius curvature for the circumferential guided waves dispersion spectra is a major point that makes circumferential guided waves different from axial guided waves. For the purpose of material characterization, both axial and circumferential guided waves are able to extract an elastic moduli and wall-thickness information from the dispersion spectra, however, radius information can only be extracted from the circumferential guided waves spectra.  相似文献

The effects of collisions and oblique modulation on Langmuir waves are studied. The nonlinear Schrondinger equation for these waves are derived by using the Krylov-Bogoliubov-Mitropolsky method. The collisions damp the envelope of these waves and the obliqueness of the modulation effects the dispersion of the system. The Langmuir waves are found to modulationally stable as in the collisionless and parallel modulation case. However, the width of the envelope hole state of these waves is found to increase due to the oblique modulation.  相似文献

Development of Benjamin?Feir instability is investigated under laboratory conditions and by analytical modeling. Nonlinear properties of the wave train with discrete spectrum are also investigated. The mechanically generated waves are composed of several discrete waves, while the newly generated harmonics are still combined into discrete spectra with the same frequency step. The technique proposed in this study allows us to study accurately the nonlinear variations in main properties of each harmonic with fixed frequency, such as amplitude, phase speed, and wavenumber along the wave tank together with velocities of wave packet crests, especially for the large transient waves. The phase speeds of short waves increase near large transient waves, and the velocities of longer waves are close to the values determined by the linear theory of waves. The relative long wave accompanied by short waves can dramatically change the local kurtosis and skewness of the wave field. They may play an important role for the generation of large transient wave and provide an opportunity for triggering of the freak waves.  相似文献

对界面波的传播特性进行了理论及实验研究.首先探讨了界面波的求根问题,基于黎曼面分析,给出了求解界面波特征方程所有根的一般方法.理论上对三种常见的界面波——Stoneley波,Leaky Rayleigh及Leaky Interface波传播机理进行了分析,描述了三种界面波的波矢及位移势在两种介质中的状态.最后基于光弹效应原理, 利用全光学的激光超声手段对界面波进行了实验测量,实测结果与理论符合很好.  相似文献

The problem of surface sound propagation in the presence of external high frequency dipole electric field is investigated using Vlasov-Poisson equations. The structure of the electric field of these surface waves is also determined. It has been found that the ion sound waves that exist in the presence of external high frequency waves are true surface waves while those without the external field are quasi-surface waves as the former waves decay within one wavelength away from the surface.  相似文献

在具有密度跃层的分层流体中,采用沿水槽中纵剖面对称布置电导率探头阵列的方法,对1个球体和2个不同长径比细长体在拖曳运动下激发内波的时空特性进行了系列实验.结果表明:存在一个与长径比近似为线性关系的临界Froude数Frc,当FrFr_c时,内波相关速度均与物体运动速度一致,体积效应内波为主控内波,内波波高均随拖曳速度增大而先增大后减小,Lee波峰值对应速度随长径比增大而增大;当FrFr_c时,内波相关速度均小于物体运动速度,其相关速度Froude数Fr_(iw)均在0.43—1.18之间的一个条带内变化,尾迹效应内波为主控内波,内波波高均随拖曳速度增大而近似线性增大.此外,从波形结构上看,体积效应内波关于水槽中纵剖面是对称的,而尾迹效应内波关于水槽中纵剖面是不对称的.结合上述实验结果,在已有针对拖曳球产生内波的等效源理论模型基础上,针对体积效应内波,提出了不同长径比模型的等效源移动速度和体积的设置方法;针对尾迹效应内波正对称和反对称这一特性,提出了正对称组合源和反对称组合源理论模型及其参数设置方法.所得计算结果在波高、波形结构和波系分布上与实验结果符合良好,表明了所提出的理论模型及其参数设置方法的合理性和有效性.  相似文献

By introducing a new type of solutions, called the multiple-mode wave solutions which can be expressed in nonlinear superposition of single-mode waves with different speeds, we investigate the two-mode wave solutions in Degasperis-Procesi equation and two cases are derived. The explicit expressions for the two-mode waves as well as the existence conditions are presented. It is shown that the two-mode waves may be the nonlinear combinations of many types of single-mode waves, such as periodic waves, solJtons, compactons, etc., and more complicated multiple-mode waves can be obtained if higher order or more single-mode waves are taken into consideration. It is pointed out that the two-mode wave solutions can be employed to display the typical mechanism of the interactions between different single-mode waves.  相似文献

The electrodynamics and dispersion properties of a magnetized dusty plasma containing elongated and rotating charged dust grains are examined. Starting from an appropriate Lagrangian for dust grains, a kinetic equation for the dust grain and the corresponding equations of motion are derived. Expressions for the dust charge and dust current densities are obtained with the finite size (the dipole moment) of elongated and rotating dust grains taken into account. These charge and current densities are combined with the Maxwell-Vlasov system of equations to derive dispersion relations for the electromagnetic and electrostatic waves in a dusty magnetoplasma. The dispersion relations are analyzed to demonstrate that the dust grain rotation introduces new classes of instabilities involving various low-frequency waves in a dusty magnetoplasma. Examples of various unstable low-frequency waves include the electron whistler, the dust whistler, dust cyclotron waves, AlfvÉn waves, electromagnetic ion-cyclotron waves, as well as lower-hybrid, electrostatic ion cyclotron, modified dust ion-acoustic waves, etc. Also found is a new type of unstable waves whose frequency is close to the dust grain rotation frequency. The present results should be useful in understanding the properties of low-frequency waves in cosmic and laboratory plasmas that are embedded in an external magnetic field and contain elongated and rotating charged dust grains.  相似文献

The reflection and transmission theories of waves in pyroelectric and piezoelectric medium are studied in this paper. In general in an infinite homogeneous pyroelectric medium there are four bulk wave modes: quasi-longitudinal, two quasi-transversal and temperature waves. In an infinite homogeneous piezoelectric medium there are three bulk wave modes: quasi-longitudinal and two quasi-transversal waves. In the reflection and transmission problem there are five complex boundary conditions in the pyroelectric medium and four complex boundary conditions for the piezoelectric medium. In this paper, we find that the surface waves will be revealed in the reflection and transmission wave problem. The surface waves have the same wave vector component with the incident waves on the interface plane. The two dimensional reflection problem of waves at the interface between the semi-infinite pyroelectric medium and vacuum is researched in greater detail and a numerical example is given.  相似文献

应用质点振荡模型和数值模拟方法研究了在金属与光折变晶体界面形成表面波的条件及其能量变化. 结果表明: 传播常数的正负影响表面波的类型及波能量分布, 当传播常数取负值时在界面处形成非局域表面波, 取正值时在界面处形成振荡表面波和局域表面波, 局域表面波的能量随传播常数的变大而单调递增. 在一给定的物理系统中, 可通过调节决定非线性效应强度的可变参量控制不同阶数局域表面波模及其传播波形.  相似文献
