Arylenevinylene‐based π‐conjugated polymers containing imidazolium cationic units in the main chain and their model compounds were synthesized and characterized in terms of optical and electrochemical properties. 9,9‐Bisoctylfluorene, 2,5‐bisdodecyloxybenzene, and 3‐dodecylthiophene were introduced as arylene units with different donor characteristics to evaluate the effect on the highest occupied molecular orbital‐lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (HOMO‐LUMO) gap energy. The UV–vis and fluorescence spectra of cationic polymers and model compounds with iodide counter anion exhibited a significant blue shift with respect to the parent neutral molecules. X‐ray single crystal analysis for model compounds revealed that the effective π‐conjugation length of cationic model compounds decreased compared to the neutral model compounds by means of twisted conformation directed by CH‐π interactions between N‐methyl groups of imidazolium and neighboring aryl units. The cyclic voltammetry measurement suggested the negative shift of LUMO levels by the conversion of imidazole to imidazolium, indicating the electron‐accepting characteristics of cationic imidazolium unit. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new heteroarylene‐vinylene donor–acceptor polymer P(BDT‐V‐BTD) with reduced bandgap has been synthesized and its photophysical, electronic and photovoltaic properties investigated both experimentally and theoretically. The structure of the polymer comprises an unprecedented combination of a strong donor (4,8‐dialkoxy‐benzo[1,2‐b:4,5‐b']dithiophene, BDT), a strong acceptor (2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole, BTD) and a vinylene spacer. The new polymer was obtained by a metal‐catalyzed cross‐coupling Stille reaction and fully characterized by NMR, UV–vis absorption, GPC, TGA, DSC and electrochemistry. Detailed ab initio computations with solvation effects have been performed for the monomer and model oligomers. The electrochemical investigation has ascertained the ambipolar character of the polymer and energetic values of HOMO, LUMO and bandgap matching materials‐design rules for optimized organic photovoltaic devices. The HOMO and LUMO energies are consistently lower than those of previous heteroarylene‐vinylene polymer while the introduction of the vinylene spacer afforded lower bandgaps compared to the analogous system P(BDT‐BTD) with no spacer between the aromatic rings. These superior properties should allow for enhanced photovoltages and photocurrents in photovoltaic devices in combination with PCBM. Preliminary photovoltaic investigation afforded relatively modest power conversion efficiencies of 0.74% (AM 1.5G, 100 mW/cm2), albeit higher than that of previous heteroarylene‐vinylene polymers and comparable to that of P(BDT‐BTD). © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two new low‐bandgap alternating copolymers (CEHTF and CEHTP) consisting of 4,6‐bis(3′‐(2‐ethylhexyl)thien‐2′‐yl)thieno[3,4‐c][1,2,5] thiadiazole and 9,9‐bis(2‐ethylhexyl)fluorene or 2,5‐bis(isopentyloxy)benzene were synthesized by Suzuki coupling reaction of corresponding comonomers. Their optical, electrochemical, and photovoltaic (PV) properties were studied and are reported. Both the copolymers exhibited long‐wavelength absorption covering the whole visible spectral region, which is in CEHTP thin films extended up to near infrared region, ambipolar redox properties, and electrochromism. High‐electron affinities and low‐optical bandgap values, 1.37 and 1.15 eV, were determined for CEHTF and CEHTP, respectively. PV devices with bulk heterojunction made of blends of copolymers and fullerene derivative [6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester ([60]PCBM) were prepared and characterized. Effects of intramolecular charge transfer strength and side‐chain nature and length on photophysical properties are discussed. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two new low‐bandgap block copolymers derived from dithienylbenzothiadiazole (DTBT) and different electron‐rich functional groups (dioctoxyl benzene and N‐octyl‐diphenylamine), poly(1,4‐dioctoxyl‐2,5‐divinylbenzene‐co‐4,7‐dithiophene‐2′‐yl‐2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole) (PPV‐DTBT), poly(3,8‐divinyl‐N‐octyl‐diphenylamine‐co‐4,7‐dithiophene‐2′‐yl‐2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole) (PDPAV‐DTBT), were synthesized by Heck cross‐coupling polymerization. PPV‐DTBT and PDPAV‐DTBT are easily soluble in common organic solvents such as o‐dichlorobenzene and chloroform. DSC and TGA results indicate that these copolymers possess good thermal stabilities. PPV‐DTBT and PDPAV‐DTBT films exhibit broad absorption bands at 300–765 nm (with an optical bandgap of 1.62 eV) and 300–733 nm (with an optical bandgap of 1.69 eV), respectively. The highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of PPV‐DTBT were estimated by cyclic voltammetry to be −5.43 and −3.74 eV, respectively, and the HOMO and LUMO of PDPAV‐DTBT were −5.37 and −3.7 eV, respectively. Preliminary photovoltaic cells based on the composite structure of ITO/PEDOT: PSS/PPV‐DTBT:PCBM (1: 2, w/w)/Al showed an open‐circuit voltage of 0.75 V, a power conversion efficiency of 0.6%, and a short circuit current of 1.7 mA · cm−2.

PPV‐based copolymers containing phenothiazine‐5‐oxide and phenothiazine‐5, 5‐dioxide moieties have been successfully synthesized by Wittig‐Horner reaction and characterized by means of UV‐vis, photoluminescence, electroluminescence spectra, and cyclic voltammetry. All of these copolymers can be dissolved in common organic solvents such as chloroform, tetrahydrofuran, and toluene. The PL maxima in the film state are located at 582, 556, and 552 nm for P1, P2, and P3, respectively. The HOMO and LUMO levels of P2 are found to be ?5.21 and ?2.68 eV, respectively; whereas those of P3 are found to be ?5.26 and ?2.71 eV, respectively. The cyclic voltammetry result indicates that the conversion of electron‐donating sulfide to electron‐withdrawing sulfoxide or sulfone group in polymers plays a dominating role in increasing its oxidation potential. Yellowish‐green light ranging from 568 to 540 nm was observed for the single layer device with the configuration of ITO/Polymer/Ca/Al. Double layer devices with Zn (BTZ)2 as a hole blocking layer exhibited enhanced EL performance compared to the single layer devices. The maximum brightness of the double layer devices of P1, P2, and P3 is 278, 400, and 796 cd/m2, respectively. The results of EL and electrochemical analyses revealed that they are promising candidate materials for organic, light‐emitting diodes with hole‐transporting ability. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The effect of the presence of hexyl group in thiophene on the photophysical and electrochemical properties of poly[(9,9‐dioctyluorene)?2,7‐diyl‐alt‐(4,7‐bis(3‐hexylthien‐5‐yl)?2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole)?2′,2″‐diyl] (F8TBT) is investigated. The copolymers present electron donor–acceptor architecture and are synthesized by Suzuki coupling reaction. The UV/Vis spectra show absorption maximum in the wavelength range of blue and orange, which are associated with different segments of the polymer backbone. Addition of hexyl substituent groups has a positive effect on the molar absorptivity and increases the emission and absorption intensities due to fluorene and thiophene‐benzothiadiazole‐thiophene (TBT) units, although an increment in the bandgap is observed. Cyclic voltammetry study of the polymer films reveal irreversible reduction and oxidation processes of the TBT units in the polymer chain and the HOMO and LUMO energy levels suggest ambipolar character for the polymers, while the electrochemical bandgaps are consistent with the absorbance measurements. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new series of low‐bandgap copolymers based on electron‐accepting thieno[3,4‐b]pyrazine (TPZ) and different electron‐donating aza‐heteroaromatic units, such as carbazole (CZ), dithieno[3,2‐b:2′,3′‐d]pyrrole (TPR) and dithieno[3,2‐b:2′,3′‐e]pyridine (TPY), have been synthesized by Suzuki or Stille coupling polymerization. The resulting copolymers were characterized by NMR, elemental analysis, gel permeation chromatography, thermogravimetric analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry. UV–vis absorption and cyclic voltammetry measurements show that TPZ‐based copolymer with TPR has the best absorption due to the strongest intramolecular charge transfer effect and smallest bandgap. The basic electronic structure of D‐A model compounds of these copolymers were also studied by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The conclusion of calculation agreed also well with the experimental results. The polymer solar cells (PSCs) based on these copolymers were fabricated with a typical structure of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/copolymer:PC71BM/Ca/Al under the illumination of AM 1.5G, 100 mW cm?2. The performance results showed that TPZ‐based copolymer with TPR donor segments showed highest efficiency of 1.55% due to enhanced short‐circuit current density. The present results indicate that good electronic, optical, and photovoltaic properties of TPZ‐based copolymers can be achieved by just fine‐tuning the structures of aza‐heteroaromatic donor segments for their application in PSCs. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A dimerized 1,3‐diazaazulene derivative, namely 1,4‐bis(1,3‐diazaazulen‐2‐yl)benzene [or 2,2′‐(1,4‐phenylene)bis(1,3‐diazaazulene)], C22H14N4, (I), has been synthesized successfully through the condensation reaction between 2‐methoxytropone and benzene‐1,4‐dicarboximidamide hydrochloride, and was characterized by 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopies, and ESI–MS. X‐ray diffraction analysis reveals that (I) has a nearly planar structure with good π‐electron delocalization, indicating that it might serve as a π building block. The crystal belongs to the monoclinic system. One‐dimensional chains were formed along the a axis through π–π interactions and adjacent chains are stabilized by C—H…N interactions, forming a three‐dimensional architecture. The solid emission of (I) in the crystalline form exhibited a 170 nm red shift compared with that in the solution state. The observed optical bandgap for (I) is 3.22 eV and a cyclic voltammetry experiment confirmed the energy levels of the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO). The calculated bandgap for (I) is 3.37 eV, which is very close to the experimental result. In addition, the polarizability and hyperpolarizability of (I) were appraised for its further application in second‐order nonlinear optical materials.  相似文献

Through the Stille coupling polymerization, a series of soluble acceptor/donor quinoxaline/thiophene alternating conducting polymers with a hole‐transporting moiety of carbazole as a side chain ( PCPQT ) has been designed, synthesized, and investigated. The UV–vis measurement of the charge‐transferred type PCPQT s of different molecular weights with low polydispersity exhibits a red shifting of their absorption maximum from 530 to 630 nm with increasing chain length (Mn: from 1100 to 19,200). The HOMO and LUMO energy levels of PCPQT can be determined from the cyclic voltammetry measurement to be ?5.36 and ?3.59 eV, respectively. Solar cells made from PCPQT/PCBM bulk heterojunction show a high open‐circuit voltage, Voc of ~0.75 V, which is significantly higher than that of a solar cell made from conventional poly(3‐hexyl thiophene)/ PCBM as the active polymer PCPQT has lower HOMO level. Further improvements are anticipated through a rational design of the new low band‐gap and the structurally two‐dimensional donor–acceptor conducting polymers. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The novel fluorinated distyrylarylene, 4,4'-bis(2,2-di(4-fluorophenyl)vinyl)biphenyl (DFPVBi), was synthesized and fully characterized. The structure was confirmed with IR, 1↑H NMR, 13↑C NMR, 19↑F NMR and MS analyses. Its electronic and photoluminescence properties were investigated by UV-Vis absorption, cyclic voltammetry and fluorescence spectroscopy. The energy levels of the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) are --5.77 and --2.75 eV, respectively. The electroluminescence proper- ties of the organic light-emitting diode fabricated by DFPVBi were also studied. The device exhibits a pure blue emission peaked at 454 nm, which indicates a maximum luminance of 5872 cd/m ^2 at 14.2 V and a maximum current efficiency of 2.82 cd/A at 10V, respectively.  相似文献

(Dibenzoylmethanato)boron difluoride derivatives containing triphenylamine moieties were synthesized as a new type of electron‐donor/π‐acceptor system. These new compounds exhibited long‐wavelength absorptions in the UV/Vis spectra, and reversible oxidation and reduction waves in cyclic voltammetry experiments. Their amphoteric redox properties are based on their resonance hybrid forms, in which a positive charge is delocalized on the triphenylamine moieties and a negative charge is localized on the boron atoms. Molecular orbital (MO) calculations indicate that their HOMO and LUMO energies vary with the number of phenylene rings connected to the difluoroboron‐chelating ring. This is useful for optimizing the HOMO and LUMO levels to an iodine redox (I?/I3?) potential and a titanium dioxide conduction band, respectively. Dye‐sensitized solar cells fabricated by using these compounds as dye sensitizers exhibited solar‐to‐electric power conversion efficiencies of 2.7–4.4 % under AM 1.5 solar light.  相似文献

A series of novel soluble donor‐acceptor low‐bandgap‐conjugated polymers consisting of different oligothiophene (OTh) coupled to electron‐accepting moiety 2‐pyran‐4‐ylidenemalononitrile (PM)‐based unit were synthesized by Stille or Suzuki coupling polymerization. The combination of electron‐accepting PM building block with varied OThn (the number of thiophene unit increases from 3 to 5) results in enhanced π–π stacking in solid state and intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) transition, which lead to an extension of the absorption spectra of the copolymers. Cyclic voltammetry measurements and molecular orbital distribution calculations indicate that the highest occupied molecular orbitals (HOMO) energy levels could be fine‐tuned by changing the number of thiophene units of the copolymers, and the resulting copolymers possessed relatively low HOMO energy levels promising good air stability and high‐open circuit voltage (Voc) for photovoltaic application. Bulk heterojunction photovoltaic devices were fabricated by using the copolymers as donors and (6,6)‐phenyl C61‐butyric acid methyl ester as acceptor. It was found that the highest Voc reached 0.94 V, and the short circuit currents (Jsc) were improved from 1.78 to 2.54 mA/cm2, though the power conversion efficiencies of the devices were measured between 0.61 and 0.99% under simulated AM 1.5 solar irradiation of 100 mW/cm2, which indicated that this series copolymers can be promising candidates for the photovoltaic applications. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. To investigate the effect of trifluoromethyl groups in enhancing electron affinity of aromatic oxadiazole and triazole chromophores, we prepared four new copoly(aryl ether)s ( P1 – P4 ) consisting of bis(3‐(trifluoromethyl) phenyl)‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole (ETO) or bis(3‐(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)‐4‐(4‐hexyloxyphenyl)‐4H‐1,2,4‐triazole (ETT) segments and hole‐transporting segments [2,5‐distyrylbenzene (HTB) or bis(styryl)fluorine (HTF)]. Molecular spectra (absorption and photoluminescence) and cyclic voltammetry were used to investigate their optical and electrochemical properties. The emissions of P1 – P4 are dominated by the hole‐transporting fluorophores with longer emissive wavelengths around 442–453 nm via efficient excitation energy transfer. The highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels of P1 – P4 , estimated from electrochemical data, are ?5.15, ?5.18, ?5.30, ?5.27, ?3.39, ?3.49, ?3.36, and ?3.48 eV, respectively. The LUMO levels of ETO and ETT segments are significantly reduced to ?3.39~?3.36 eV and ?3.48~?3.49 eV, respectively, as compared with ?2.45 eV of P5 containing a 2,5‐diphenyl‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole segment. Moreover, electron and hole affinity can be enhanced simultaneously by introducing isolated hole‐ and electron‐transporting segments in the backbone. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We synthesized new polynorbornene dicarboximide (PCaNI) functionalized with hole‐transporting carbazole moieties and its copolymer (PCaNA) by ring‐opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP), where the PCaNA was further reacted with 3‐amino‐triethoxysilane to prepare PCaNI/silica hybrid. We also investigated the feasibility of PCaNI and PCaNI/silica hybrid (PCaSi) as a hole‐transporting material for hybrid organic light emitting devices (HOLEDs). To improve the performance of the PCaNI‐based HOLEDs, N,N′‐diphenyl‐N,N′‐(3‐methylphenyl)‐[1,1′‐biphenyl]‐4‐4′‐diamine (TPD) was also introduced into the PCaNI matrix. Results showed that PCaNI exhibited high glass transition temperature (~260 °C) and high optical transparency in the visible region. The highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of PCaNI were measured as 5.6 and 2.2 eV, while the TPD‐doped PCaNI showed 5.7 eV (HOMO) and 2.6 eV (LUMO). The PCaNI/silica hybrid nanolayers showed excellent solvent resistance due to the formation of covalent bonds between ITO and PCaNI. The HOLEDs with PCaNI/TPD or PCaSi/TPD hybrid nanolayers exhibited relatively higher luminance (~10,000 cd/m2), lower operating voltage (~6.5 V at 300 cd/m2), and higher current efficiency (~2.7 cd/A). © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Designing low band‐gap‐conjugated polymers coupled with low HOMO levels attracts great attention in the field of polymer solar cells (PSCs). By using donor–acceptor (D‐A) copolymerization strategy, we designed and synthesized a series of low band‐gap copolymers with deep HOMO levels via introducing an isoindigo (IID) acceptor unit in the copolymers with the donor unit of fluorene (F) (PIID‐F), carbazole (Cz) (PIID‐Cz), thiophene (Th) (PIID‐Th), dithiophene (DTh) (PIID‐DTh), or dithienosilole (DTS) (PIID‐DTS). The HOMO level of the copolymers, measured by electrochemical cyclic voltammetry, varies from ?5.3 eV to ?5.8 eV, depending on different donor units in the copolymers. However, the LUMO levels of all the copolymers are fixed at about ?3.6 eV, which is mainly determined by IID acceptor unit due to its strong electron‐withdrawing ability. The new results will provide an effect help in designing IID based molecular structures. Among the copolymers, PIID‐DTS has a low band gap of 1.58 eV and possesses a low‐lying HOMO energy level of ?5.33 eV. The PSCs based on PIID‐DTS as donor and PC70BM as acceptor exhibited a high open‐circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.93 V and a primary power conversion efficiency of 2.45%. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. A set of three donor‐acceptor conjugated (D‐A) copolymers were designed and synthesized via Stille cross‐coupling reactions with the aim of modulating the optical and electronic properties of a newly emerged naphtho[1,2‐b:5,6‐b′]dithiophene donor unit for polymer solar cell (PSCs) applications. The PTNDTT‐BT , PTNDTT‐BTz , and PTNDTT‐DPP polymers incorporated naphtho[1,2‐b:5,6‐b′]dithiophene ( NDT ) as the donor and 2,2′‐bithiazole ( BTz ), benzo[1,2,5]thiadiazole ( BT ), and pyrrolo[3,4‐c]pyrrole‐1,4(2H,5H)‐dione ( DPP ), as the acceptor units. A number of experimental techniques such as differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetry, UV–vis absorption spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, X‐ray diffraction, and atomic force microscopy were used to determine the thermal, optical, electrochemical, and morphological properties of the copolymers. By introducing acceptors of varying electron withdrawing strengths, the optical band gaps of these copolymers were effectively tuned between 1.58 and 1.9 eV and their HOMO and LUMO energy levels were varied between ?5.14 to ?5.26 eV and ?3.13 to ?3.5 eV, respectively. The spin‐coated polymer thin film exhibited p‐channel field‐effect transistor properties with hole mobilities of 2.73 × 10?3 to 7.9 × 10?5 cm2 V?1 s?1. Initial bulk‐heterojunction PSCs fabricated using the copolymers as electron donor materials and [6,6]‐phenyl C71 butyric acid methyl ester (PC71BM) as the acceptor resulted in power conversion efficiencies in the range of 0.67–1.67%. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Three low bandgap polyfluorene copolymers containing a donor–acceptor–donor moiety have been synthesized via Suzuki and Stille polymerization reactions. Their bandgaps and molecular energy levels (highest occupied molecular orbital and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital) varied with different polymerization methods. The molecular weight of the copolymer increased significantly through copolymerizing with a monomer having a long alkyl side chain. In order to investigate their photovoltaic properties, polymer solar cell devices based on the copolymers were fabricated with a structure of indium tin oxide/poly(styrene sulfonic acid)‐doped poly(ethylene dioxythiophene)/copolymers:[6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM)/LiF/Al under the illumination of AM 1.5G, 100 mW/cm2. We found that the annealing temperature had a profound effect on the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the devices with a blend of poly[9,9‐didodecylfluorene‐alt‐(bis‐thienylene) benzothiadiazole] (PF12‐TBT) and PCBM. The PCE of the solar cell based on PF12‐TBT/PCBM (1:4) annealing at 70 °C for 20 min was 4.13% with an open‐circuit voltage (Voc) of 1.02 V, fill factor of 55.9%, and a short‐circuit current (Jsc) of 7.24 mA/cm2. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two alternating copolymers, poly[(2,5‐di(2‐thienyl)‐pyridine‐5,5′‐diyl)‐alt‐(9,9‐dioctylfluorene‐2,7‐diyl)], PFO‐TPy25T, and poly[(2,6‐di(2‐thienyl)‐pyridine‐5,5′‐diyl)‐alt‐(9,9‐dioctylfluorene‐2,7‐diyl)], PFO‐TPy26T, were synthesized by the Pd‐catalyzed Suzuki polymerization method. The pyridine units are present as trimeric monomers in these copolymers and have different connectivities to their two neighboring thiophenes, para‐ and meta‐linkages. We investigated the variations in the optical and electrochemical properties of the copolymers that arise from these different connectivities. The two polymers exhibit 5% weight loss above 410 °C and high glass transition temperatures (Tg: 113 °C for PFO‐TPy25T, 142 °C for PFO‐TPy26T). The UV–vis absorption maximum peaks of PFO‐TPy25T and PFO‐TPy26T in the solid state were found to be 449 and 398 nm respectively, with photoluminescence maximum peaks in the solid state of 573 and 490 nm respectively. Using cyclic voltammetry, we determined their energy band gaps: 3.08 eV for PFO‐TPy25T and 3.49 eV for PFO‐TPy25T. The cyclic voltammetry study of these polymers revealed that there are some differences. The electroluminescence (EL) properties of the copolymers were measured for the device configuration of ITO/PEDOT/polymers/Ca/Al. The device fabricated with the polymer containing 2,5‐pyridine exhibits pale orange emission, whereas the device fabricated with the polymer containing 2,6‐pyridine exhibits pale blue emission. The EL device fabricated with PFO‐TPy25T has a higher brightness (2010 cd/m2) and external quantum efficiency (0.1%) than the PFO‐TPy26T device (260 cd/m2, 0.008%), because it has a smaller energy barrier to the injection of charges from PEDOT and Ca into the HOMO and LUMO levels. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, donor‐acceptor type thiophene‐perylene‐thiophene monomers were synthesized and polymerized by both oxidative polymerization using FeCl3 as catalyst and the electrochemical process. UV–vis, FTIR, 1H NMR, and elemental analysis techniques were used for structural characterization. Thermal behaviors of these compounds were determined by using TGA system. The highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels and electrochemical and optical band gap values were calculated by using the results of cyclic voltammetry and UV–vis measurements, respectively. The number–average molecular weight (Mn), weight–average molecular weight (Mw), and polydispersity index (PDI) values of synthesized polymers were determined by size exclusion chromatography. Conductivity measurements of these polymers were carried out by electrometer by using a four‐point probe technique. The conductivity was observed to be increased by iodine doping. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 46: 1974–1989, 2008  相似文献

A strategy of the fine‐tuning of the degree of intrachain charge transfer and aromaticity of polymer backbone was adopted to design and synthesize new polymers applicable in photovoltaics. Three conjugated polymers P1 , P2 , and P3 were synthesized by alternating the electron‐donating dithieno[3,2‐b:2′3′‐d]pyrrole (D) and three different electron‐accepting (A) segments ( P1 : N‐(2‐ethylhexyl)phthalimide; P2 : 1,4‐diketo‐3,6‐diphenylpyrrolo[3,4‐c]pyrrole; and P3 : thiophene‐3‐hexyl formate) in the polymer main chain. Among the three polymers, P2 possessed the broadest absorption band ranging from 300 to 760 nm, the lowest bandgap (1.63 eV), and enough low HOMO energy level (?5.27 eV) because of the strong intrachain charge transfer from D to A units and the appropriate extent of quinoid state in the main chain of P2 , which was convinced by the theoretical simulation of molecular geometry and front orbits. Photovoltaic study of solar cells based on the blends of P1 – P3 and [6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) demonstrated that P2 :PCBM exhibited the best performance: a power conversion efficiency of 1.22% with a high open‐circuit voltage (VOC) of 0.70 V and a large short‐circuit current (ISC) of 5.02 mA/cm2 were achieved. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
