Ultrashort pulses were generated in passively mode-locked Nd:YAG and Nd:GdVO4 lasers pumped by a pulsed laser diode with 10-Hz repetition rate. Stable mode-locked pulse trains were produced with the pulse width of 10 ps. The evolution of the mode-locked pulse was observed in the experiment and was discussed in detail. Comparing the pulse evolutions of Nd:YAG and Nd:GdVO4 lasers, we found that the buildup time of the steady-state mode-locking with semiconductor saturable absorber mirrors (SESAMs) was relevant to the upper-state lifetime and the emission cross-section of the gain medium.  相似文献

We report an end-pumped and passive mode-locking all-solid-state laser. The laser consists of a Nd:GdVO4 crystal and a linear resonator with a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror that yield mode locking. We achieved stable continuous-wave mode locking with an 8-ps pulse duration at a 154-MHz repetition rate. The average output power was 600 mW with 4 W of pump power. To our knowledge this is the first report of the use of a Nd:GdVO4 crystal for mode locking with a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror.  相似文献

A new resonator design for doubly resonant continuous-wave (CW) intracavity sum-frequency mixing (SFM) is reported. 1.12 W of coherent radiation at 588 nm is generated by mixing 1062-nm Nd:GdVO4laser and 1319-nm Nd:YAG laser. The optical-to-optical conversion efficiency is up to 3.7%.  相似文献

A novel flat-flat resonator consisting of two crystals(Nd:YAG + Nd:YVO_4) is established for power scaling in a diode-end-pumped solid-state laser. We systematically compare laser characteristics between multi-segmented(Nd:YAG + Nd:YVO_4) and conventional composite(Nd:YAG + Nd:YAG) crystals to demonstrate the feasibility of spectral line matching for output power scale-up in end-pumped lasers. A maximum continuous-wave output power of 79.2 W is reported at 1064 nm, with M_x~2= 4.82, M_y~2= 5.48, and a pumping power of 136 W in the multi-segmented crystals(Nd:YAG + Nd:YVO_4). Compared to conventional composite crystals(Nd:YAG + Nd:YAG), the optical-optical conversion efficiency of multi-segmented crystals(Nd:YAG + Nd:YVO4) from 808 nm to 1064 nm is enhanced from 30% to 58.8%,while the laser output sensitivity as affected by the diode-laser temperature is reduced from 55% to 9%.  相似文献

Highly efficient 1-microm continuous-wave laser emission in 3-mm-thick, 0.5- and 1.0-at. % Nd:GdVO4 crystals longitudinally pumped at 879 nm into the laser emitting level is reported. Under Ti:sapphire pumping, the slope efficiency in absorbed power is approximately 80% for both crystals, while the slope efficiency, the optical-to-optical efficiency (at 1700-mW pump power), and the laser threshold in incident power are 79%, 78%, and 31 mW for 0.5-at. % Nd and 80%, 77%, and 40 mW for 1.0-at. % Nd, respectively. The slope efficiency is close to the quantum defect limit, the difference being fully accounted for by the residual optical losses. Under 879-nm diode laser pumping, the slope efficiency and the optical-to-optical efficiency in absorbed power of the 0.5-at. % Nd:GdVO4 crystal are 60% and 53%, owing to poorer superposition of the pumped and the laser mode volumes.  相似文献

A diode-end-pumped continuous-wave (CW) Nd:YAG laser emitting at 1123 nm is realized efficiently in a 25-mm-long cavity. A composite Nd:YAG (cNd:YAG) crystal is selected as the gain medium. With an incident diode power of 26.1 W, an output power of up to 9.3 W is obtained, corresponding to an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 35.6%. The laser performances at 1123 nm are compared between composite Nd:YAG and common Nd:YAG crystals. The results show that composite Nd:YAG is a better choice for 1123-nm laser generations.  相似文献

理论和实验研究了LD泵浦Nd∶Gd0.42Y0.58VO4/Cr4+∶YAG被动调Q锁模激光器.在分析Cr4+∶YAG晶体能级结构和调Q锁模物理过程的基础上,通过数值模拟给出了Cr4+∶YAG调Q锁模的参量要求,然后进行了实验验证.实验中Cr4+∶YAG的初始透过率T0分别为86.3%、95%,输出镜的透过率T分别为10%、20%,在其他条件不变的情况下构成四种不同的组合,均实现了激光器的调Q锁模运转.实验结果表明,降低Cr4+∶YAG的初始透过率T0或提高输出镜透过率T有利于获得较好的锁模效果,与理论分析一致.  相似文献

A compact high power diode-side-pumped Nd:GdVO4 laser has been presented, which can generate an output power of 52 W at 1.063-μm for continuous-wave (CW) operation. The absorption characteristics of the Nd:GdVO4 in different pump directions is measured, which were used to optimize the diode-side-pumped Nd:GdVO4 laser head. The laser characteristics of both CW and Q-switched Nd:GdVO4 and Nd:YAG in are compared and it was found that Nd:GdVO4 may surpass Nd:YAG for high power laser application.  相似文献

A new type semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM), which is not fulfilled antiresonance condition, was used in a side-pumped Nd:YAG laser. Experiment results show that stabilized continuous-wave mode-locking can successfully be obtained in picosecond regime by a nonantiresonant SESAM. Because the bandwidth of picosecond regime mode-locked pulse is not broad; therefore, the antiresonant factor of SESAMs, which are used in picosecond mode-locked lasers, can be omitted when the SESAMs are designed and fabricated. Without the limit of antiresonance condition, the difficulty of design and growth will decrease significantly and there will be more freedom in considering the modulation depth.  相似文献

对激光二极管(LD)抽运的自拉曼Nd∶GdVO4被动调Q激光器进行了详细的理论和实验研究。实验中采用Nd∶GdVO4晶体同时作为激光介质和拉曼晶体,分别用了两块不同初始透射率的Cr4 ∶YAG晶体,得到并比较了采用不同初始透射率的Cr4 ∶YAG晶体时被动调Q自拉曼激光器的性能。测量了平均输出功率、脉冲宽度和脉冲重复率随抽运功率的变化关系。当Cr4 ∶YAG的初始透射率为0.91,输入功率是5.7 W时,得到的拉曼光的最高功率为244.6 mW,相应的转换效率为4.3%。通过数值求解基频光和拉曼光空间分布的速率方程并应用到被动调Q自拉曼Nd∶GdVO4激光器。获得的理论结果与实验结果大致相符。  相似文献

Passive mode-locking of a pulsed Nd:YAG laser using a Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber was realized for the first time in a nearly critical stable resonator containing an antiresonant ring structure. The output energy and pulse duration are 13.5 mJ and 180 ps, respectively. The recovery time and saturable intensity for excited-state absorption of Cr4+:YAG under the action of strong laser pulses were calculated from rate equations.  相似文献

We demonstrated a linearly polarized continuous-wave Nd:YAG laser operating at a 1357-nm single-wavelength, by a 808-nm diode as an end-pump source. We chose a Brewster-angle-cut Nd:YAG laser host crystal, due to its two salient features as follow: linearly polarized laser output and single-wavelength oscillation can be easily obtained. In this paper, a continuous-wave all-solid-state single-wavelength laser operating at 1357 nm is demonstrated with a diode-end-pumped Brewster-cut Nd:YAG laser. The laser had a 1.03-W maximum output power under an incident pump power of 15.0 W, a 12.7% slope efficiency, a 6.9% optical-to-optical conversion efficiency, a 0.14-nm spectral linewidth and a 3% power-output stability within 30 min. Diode-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:GdVO4/Cr4+:YAG lasers with a simple flat-flat cavity were demonstrated. The maximum average output power at 1.06 μm was 1.25 W. The highest peak power and pulse energy were 7.56 kW and 75μJ, respectively, with the pulse repetition rate of 11.1 kHz and pulse width of 10 ns at the incident pump power of 8 W.  相似文献

We present for the first time a Nd:YAG laser emitting at 1319 nm intracavity pumped by a 946 nm diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser. A 809 nm laser diode is used to pump the first Nd:YAG crystal emitting at 946 nm, and the second Nd:YAG laser emitting at 1319 nm intracavity pumped at 946 nm. Intracavity sumfrequency mixing at 946 and 1319 nm was then realized in a LBO crystal to reach the yellow range. We obtained a continuous-wave output power of 158 mW at 551 nm with a pump laser diode emitting 18.7 W at 809 nm.  相似文献

Efficient and compact red laser output at 669 nm is generated by intracavity frequency doubling of a continuous-wave (CW) diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser at 1338 nm. With 16.9 W of diode pump power and the frequency-doubling crystal KTiOPO4 (KTP), a maximum output power of 582 mW in the red spectral range at 669 nm has been achieved, corresponding to an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 3.4%; the output power stability over 4 h is better than 3.6%. To the best of our knowledge, this is first work on intracavity frequency doubling of a diode pumped Nd:YAG laser at 669 nm.  相似文献
