We show that in 2+1 dimensions, the Dirac equation for a neutral fermion possessing electric and magnetic dipole moments in an external electromagnetic field reduces to the Dirac equation for a charged fermion in a external field characterized by a certain 3-pseudo-vector potential. The effective charge of the neutral fermion is determined by its dipole moments. The effects of coupling electric and magnetic moments of the neutral fermion to the external electromagnetic field seem to be inseparable in physical experiments of any type. We find an exact solution of the Dirac equation for a massive neutral fermion with electric and magnetic dipole moments in a external plane-wave electromagnetic field. We derive expressions for the fermionic vacuum current induced by neutral fermions in the presence of external electromagnetic fields.  相似文献

The fundamental equations of the microscopic quantum hydrodynamics of fermions in an external electromagnetic field (i.e., the particle balance equation, the momentum balance equation, the energy balance equation, and the magnetic moment balance equation) are derived using the Schrödinger equation. The form of the spin–spin interaction Hamiltonian is specified. To close the system of the balance equations for a multiparticle fermion system, the effective one-particle Schrödinger equation must be introduced.  相似文献

We apply the complex WKB method (the Maslov complex germ theory) to the model of two electrons in a field with a fixed center. We construct semiclassical spectral series of the Pauli operator eigenvalues in the external magnetic field with the spin–orbital and spin–spin interactions and the quadrupole moment of the nucleus taken into account. These series correspond to a new type of closed phase trajectories, the relative equilibrium positions of the corresponding classical nonintegrable system. Explicit effective formulas are derived for the fine (Zeeman effect) and the hyperfine splitting of semiclassical energy levels of a helium-like ion with an arbitrary nucleus charge Z in the entire range of the magnetic field magnitude, including the extreme cases of weak and ultrastrong fields.  相似文献

We consider the scattering of a massive neutral fermion with an anomalous magnetic moment in the electric field of a homogeneously charged straight thin thread from the standpoint of the quantum mechanical problem of constructing a self-adjoint Hamiltonian for the nonrelativistic Dirac-Pauli equation. Using the solutions obtained for the self-adjoint Hamiltonian, we investigate the scattering of the neutral fermion in the electric field of a thread oriented perpendicular to the plane of fermion motion (the Aharonov-Casher effect). We find expressions for the scattering amplitude and cross section of neutral fermions in the electric field of the thread. We show that the scattering amplitude and cross section depend both on the direct interaction between the fermion anomalous magnetic moment and the electric field and on the polarization of the fermionic beam in the initial state.  相似文献

We find exact solutions of the Dirac equation and the fermion energy spectrum in the Coulomb (vector and scalar) potential and Aharonov-Bohm potential in 2+1 dimensions taking the particle spin into account. We describe the fermion spin using the two-component Dirac equation with the additional (spin) parameter introduced by Hagen. We consider the effect of creation of fermion pairs from the vacuum by a strong Coulomb field in the Aharonov-Bohm potential in 2+1 dimensions. We obtain transcendental equations implicitly determining the electron energy spectrum near the boundary of the lower energy continuum and the critical charge. We numerically solve the equation for the critical charge. We show that for relatively weak magnetic flows, the critical charge decreases (compared with the case with no magnetic field) if the energy of interaction of the electron spin magnetic moment with the magnetic field is negative and increases if this energy is positive. __________ Translated from Teoreticheskaya i Matematicheskaya Fizika, Vol. 158, No. 2, pp. 250–262, February, 2009.  相似文献

We study the effect of the magnetic-field-induced canting of magnetic sublattices on the energy structure of heavy fermion quasiparticles in intermetallides with antiferromagnetic-type ordering. We work in the framework of an effective Hamiltonian of the periodic Anderson model in the regime of strong electron correlations. With the virtual transfers into high-energy double states taken into account, this Hamiltonian involves exchange interactions between spin moments of the f ions and the s-f-exchange coupling between the two subsystems. For a noncollinear problem geometry, we introduce a unitary transformation that allows reducing an eighth-order equation for the spectrum of heavy fermions to two fourth-order equations. We show that the quasimomentum dependence of the heavy-fermion energy changes qualitatively under the transition from the antiferromagnetic phase to a phase with a considerable canting angle emerging in an external magnetic field.  相似文献

We obtain a system of integral equations for the spinor amplitude of a wave packet describing a massive neutral Dirac particle in a curved space–time with an arbitrary geometry. This equation permits describing the spin dynamics of fermions in gravitational fields adequately to the quantum nature of spin. We consider a specific example of the Kerr–Schild metric. We also discuss the problem of massive neutrino oscillations in an external gravitational field.  相似文献

We outline a recursive method for obtaining WKB expansions of solutions of the Dirac equation in an external centrally symmetric field with a scalar-vector Lorentz structure of the interaction potentials. We obtain semiclassical formulas for radial functions in the classically allowed and forbidden regions and find conditions for matching them in passing through the turning points. We generalize the Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization rule to the relativistic case where a spin-1/2 particle interacts simultaneously with a scalar and an electrostatic external field. We obtain a general expression in the semiclassical approximation for the width of quasistationary levels, which was earlier known only for barrier-type electrostatic potentials (the Gamow formula). We show that the obtained quantization rule exactly produces the energy spectrum for Coulomb- and oscillatory-type potentials. We use an example of the funnel potential to demonstrate that the proposed version of the WKB method not only extends the possibilities for studying the spectrum of energies and wave functions analytically but also ensures an appropriate accuracy of calculations even for states with nr 1.Translated from Teoreticheskaya i Matematicheskaya Fizika, Vol. 143, No. 1, pp. 83–111, April, 2005.  相似文献

A closed system of nonstationary equations for a multielectron atom is constructed using a method previously developed for investigating multiparticle fermion systems. The well-known Thomas—Fermi—Dirac method is a particular case of the system. The exchange spin—spin correlations are calculated using an improved spin—spin interaction Hamiltonian. The dependence of the electron concentration on the self-consistent electric field potential and a discrete set of parameters determined by the total energy and the angular momentum of the atom is derived for stationary atom states.  相似文献

A strong magnetic field significantly affects the intrinsic magnetic moment of fermions. In quantum electrodynamics, it was shown that the anomalous magnetic moment of an electron arises kinematically, while it results from a dynamical interaction with an external magnetic field for hadrons (proton). Taking the anomalous magnetic moment of a fermion into account, we find an exact expression for the boundstate energy and the corresponding eigenfunctions of a two-dimensional nonrelativistic spin-1/2 harmonic oscillator with a centripetal barrier (known as the isotonic oscillator) including an Aharonov–Bohm term in the presence of a strong magnetic field. We use the Laplace transform method in the calculations. We find that the singular solution contributes to the phase of the wave function at the origin and the phase depends on the spin and magnetic flux.  相似文献

We study the effects of electromagnetic fields on nonrelativistic charged spinning particles bound by a short-range potential. We analyze the exact solution of the Pauli equation for an electron moving in the potential field determined by the three-dimensional δ-well in the presence of a strong magnetic field. We obtain asymptotic expressions for this solution for different values of the problem parameters. In addition, we consider electron probability currents and their dependence on the magnetic field. We show that including the spin in the framework of the nonrelativistic approach allows correctly taking the effect of the magnetic field on the electric current into account. The obtained dependences of the current distribution, which is an experimentally observable quantity, can be manifested directly in scattering processes, for example.  相似文献

In the problem of a two-dimensional hydrogen-like atom in a magnetic field background, we construct quasi-classical solutions and the energy spectrum of the Dirac equation in a strong Coulomb field and in a weak constant homogeneous magnetic field in 2+1 dimensions. We find some “exact” solutions of the Dirac and Pauli equations describing the “spinless” fermions in strong Coulomb fields and in homogeneous magnetic fields in 2+1 dimensions. We consider a model of point interaction between two fermions and one particle of a different nature. The model is analogous to the Skornyakov–Ter-Martirosyan model. It is interpreted based on the self-adjoint extension theory for symmetric operators. We show that if the mass of the third particle is sufficiently smaller than the fermion mass, the corresponding energy operator has an infinite set of bound states with the energy values tending to –.  相似文献

We consider a (2+1)-dimensional gauge theory with a nonzero fermion density and an initial Chern–Simons topological term, whose Lorentz invariance is spontaneously broken in a certain Lorentz reference frame by the generation of a constant homogenous magnetic field. We propose interpreting the number =±1, which characterizes the two nonequivalent representations of Dirac matrices in 2+1 dimensions, as a quantum number that explicitly describes the spin of the fermion. In particular, this interpretation allows determining the vacuum state of the model in a constant homogenous magnetic field as the state whose fermion and spin numbers are equal to zero.  相似文献

The asymptotic behavior of bound states is considered to the left of the boundary of the essential spectrum of the Schrödinger operator in homogeneous magnetic and decreasing electric fields. The electric potential is not considered nonpositive. It is assumed that the integral of the potential along the direction of the magnetic field has a powerlike behavior at infinity. It is shown that the asymptotic behavior of the bound states is powerlike and its leading term is computed.Translated from Zapiski Nauchnykh Seminarov Leningradskogo Otdeleniya Matematicheskogo Instituta im. A general covariant analog of standard nonrelativistic quantum mechanics with relativistic corrections is constructed for the Dirac particle in a normal geodesic frame in general Riemannian space-time. Not only the Pauli equation with a Hermitian Hamiltonian and the pre-Hilbert structure of the space of its solutions, but also matrix elements of the Hermitian operators of momentum, (curvilinear) spatial coordinates, and spin of the particle, are deduced, as a general-covariant asymptotic approximation in c–2 (c is the velocity of light), to their naturally determined general-relativistic pre-images. It is shown that the Pauli equation Hamiltonian, generated by the Dirac equation, is unitary-equivalent to the energy operator generated by the metric energymomentum tensor of the spinor field. Commutation and other properties of the observables associated with variation in the geometrical background of quantum mechanics are briefly discussed.Translated from Teoreticheskaya i Matematicheskaya Fizika, Vol. 106, No. 1, pp. 122–132, January, 1996.  相似文献

We find exact solutions of the Dirac equation that describe fermion bound states in the Aharonov-Bohm potential in 2+1 dimensions with the particle spin taken into account. For this, we construct self-adjoint extensions of the Hamiltonian of the Dirac equation in the Aharonov-Bohm potential in 2+1 dimensions. The self-adjoint extensions depend on a single parameter. We select the range of this parameter in which quantum fermion states are bound. We demonstrate that the energy levels of particles and antiparticles intersect. Because solutions of the Dirac equation in the Aharonov-Bohm potential in 2+1 dimensions describe the behavior of relativistic fermions in the field of the cosmic string in 3+1 dimensions, our results can presumably be used to describe fermions in the cosmic string field.  相似文献

We consider translation invariant gapped quantum spin systems satisfying the Lieb–Robinson bound and containing single-particle states in a ground state representation. Following the Haag–Ruelle approach from relativistic quantum field theory, we construct states describing collisions of several particles, and define the corresponding S-matrix. We also obtain some general restrictions on the shape of the energy–momentum spectrum. For the purpose of our analysis, we adapt the concepts of almost local observables and energy–momentum transfer (or Arveson spectrum) from relativistic QFT to the lattice setting. The Lieb–Robinson bound, which is the crucial substitute of strict locality from relativistic QFT, underlies all our constructions. Our results hold, in particular, in the Ising model in strong transverse magnetic fields.  相似文献

We consider a model of particle motion in the field of an electromagnetic monopole (in the Coulomb-Dirac field) perturbed by homogeneous and inhomogeneous electric fields. After quantum averaging, we obtain an integrable system whose Hamiltonian can be expressed in terms of the generators of an algebra with polynomial commutation relations. We construct the irreducible representations of this algebra and its hypergeometric coherent states. We use these states to represent the eigenfunctions of the original problem in terms of the solutions of the model ordinary differential equation. We also present the asymptotic approximations of the eigenvalues in the leading term of the perturbation theory, where the degeneration of the spectrum is removed completely.Translated from Teoreticheskaya i Matematicheskaya Fizika, Vol. 142, No. 1, pp. 127–147, January, 2005.  相似文献

The Pauli operator describes the energy of a nonrelativistic quantum particle with spin in a magnetic field and an external potential. A new Lieb- Thirring type inequality on the sum of the negative eigenvalues is presented. The main feature compared to earlier results is that in the large field regime the present estimate grows with the optimal (first) power of the strength of the magnetic field. As a byproduct of the method, we also obtain an optimal upper bound on the pointwise density of zero energy eigenfunctions of the Dirac operator. The main technical tools are: (i) a new localization scheme for the square of the resolvent of a general class of second order elliptic operators; (ii) a geometric construction of a Dirac operator with a constant magnetic field that approximates the original Dirac operator in a tubular neighborhood of a fixed field line. The errors may depend on the regularity of the magnetic field but they are uniform in the field strength. Communicated by Gian Michele GrafSubmitted 31/08/03, accepted 28/01/04  相似文献
