Let id(v) denote the implicit degree of a vertex v in a graph G. We define G of order n to be implicit 2-heavy if at least two of the end vertices of each induced claw have implicit degree at least \(\frac{n}{2}\). In this paper, we show that every implicit 2-heavy graph G is hamiltonian if we impose certain additional conditions on the connectivity of G or forbidden induced subgraphs. Our results extend two previous theorems of Broersma et al. (Discret Math 167–168:155–166, 1997) on the existence of Hamilton cycles in 2-heavy graphs.  相似文献

For a graph G, we denote by p(G) and c(G) the number of vertices of a longest path and a longest cycle in G, respectively. For a vertex v in G, id(v) denotes the implicit degree of v. In this paper, we obtain that if G is a 2-connected graph on n vertices such that the implicit degree sum of any three independent vertices is at least n + 1, then either G contains a hamiltonian path, or c(G) ≥ p(G) ? 1.  相似文献

Let G be a connected graph with vertex set V(G) = {v1, v2,..., v n }. The distance matrix D(G) = (d ij )n×n is the matrix indexed by the vertices of G, where d ij denotes the distance between the vertices v i and v j . Suppose that λ1(D) ≥ λ2(D) ≥... ≥ λ n (D) are the distance spectrum of G. The graph G is said to be determined by its D-spectrum if with respect to the distance matrix D(G), any graph having the same spectrum as G is isomorphic to G. We give the distance characteristic polynomial of some graphs with small diameter, and also prove that these graphs are determined by their D-spectra.  相似文献

Let G be a graph and v be any vertex of G. Then the neighborhood contracted graphGv of G, with respect to the vertex v, is the graph with vertex set V ? N(v), where two vertices u,wV ? N(v) are adjacent in Gv if either w = v and u is adjacent to any vertex of N(v) in G or u,w ? N[v] and u,w are adjacent in G. The properties of the neighborhood contracted graphs are discussed in this paper. The neighborhood contraction in some special class of graphs, the domination in a graph and the neighborhood contracted graphs are discussed in the paper.  相似文献

Let G be a 2-edge-connected simple graph on n vertices. For an edge e = uvE(G), define d(e) = d(u) + d(v). Let F denote the set of all simple 2-edge-connected graphs on n ≥ 4 vertices such that GF if and only if d(e) + d(e’) ≥ 2n for every pair of independent edges e, e’ of G. We prove in this paper that for each GF, G is not Z 3-connected if and only if G is one of K 2,n?2, K 3,n?3, K 2,n?2 + , K 3,n?3 + or one of the 16 specified graphs, which generalizes the results of X. The eccentric connectivity index \(\xi ^c(G)\) of a connected graph G is defined as \(\xi ^c(G) =\sum _{v \in V(G)}{deg(v) e(v)},\) where deg(v) is the degree of vertex v and e(v) is the eccentricity of v. The eccentric graph, \(G_e\), of a graph G has the same set of vertices as G,  with two vertices uv adjacent in \(G_e\) if and only if either u is an eccentric vertex of v or v is an eccentric vertex of u. In this paper, we obtain a formula for the eccentric connectivity index of the eccentric graph of a regular dendrimer. We also derive a formula for the eccentric connectivity index for the second iteration of eccentric graph of regular dendrimer.  相似文献

A total weighting of a graph G is a mapping ? that assigns to each element zV (G)∪E(G) a weight ?(z). A total weighting ? is proper if for any two adjacent vertices u and v, ∑ eE(u) ?(e)+?(u)≠∑ eE(v) ?(e)+?(v). This paper proves that if each edge e is given a set L(e) of 3 permissible weights, and each vertex v is given a set L(v) of 2 permissible weights, then G has a proper total weighting ? with ?(z) ∈ L(z) for each element zV (G)∪E(G).  相似文献

In 1989, Zhu, Li and Deng introduced the definition of implicit degree of a vertex v in a graph G, denoted by id(v). In this paper, we prove that if G is a 2-connected graph of order n such that id(u) + id(v) ≥ n for each pair of nonadjacent vertices u and v in G, then G is pancyclic unless G is bipartite, or else n = 4r, r ≥ 2 and G is isomorphic to F4r .  相似文献

The article is devoted to the theory of elliptic functions of level n. An elliptic function of level n determines a Hirzebruch genus called an elliptic genus of level n. Elliptic functions of level n are also of interest because they are solutions of the Hirzebruch functional equations. The elliptic function of level 2 is the Jacobi elliptic sine function, which determines the famous Ochanine–Witten genus. It is the exponential of the universal formal group of the form F(u, v) = (u2 ? v2)/(uB(v) ? vB(u)), B(0) = 1. The elliptic function of level 3 is the exponential of the universal formal group of the form F(u, v) = (u2A(v) ? v2A(u))/(uA(v)2 ? vA(u)2), A(0) = 1, A″(0) = 0. In the present study we show that the elliptic function of level 4 is the exponential of the universal formal group of the form F(u, v) = (u2A(v) ? v2A(u))/(uB(v) ? vB(u)), where A(0) = B(0) = 1 and for B′(0) = A″(0) = 0, A′(0) = A1, and B″(0) = 2B2 the following relation holds: (2B(u) + 3A1u)2 = 4A(u)3 ? (3A12 ? 8B2)u2A(u)2. To prove this result, we express the elliptic function of level 4 in terms of the Weierstrass elliptic functions.  相似文献

Erdoes and Soes conjectured in 1963 that every graph G on n vertices with edge number e(G) 〉 1/2(k - 1)n contains every tree T with k edges as a subgraph. In this paper, we consider a variation of the above conjecture, that is, for n 〉 9/ 2k^2 + 37/2+ 14 and every graph G on n vertices with e(G) 〉 1/2 (k- 1)n, we prove that there exists a graph G' on n vertices having the same degree sequence as G and containing every tree T with k edges as a subgraph.  相似文献

The Wiener-type invariants of a simple connected graph G = (V, E) can be expressed in terms of the quantities \(W_{f}=\sum_{\{u,v\}\subseteq V}f(d_{G}(u,v))\) for various choices of the function f(x), where dG(u,v) is the distance between vertices u and v in G. In this paper, we give some sufficient conditions for a connected graph to be Hamiltonian, a connected graph to be traceable, and a connected bipartite graph to be Hamiltonian in terms of the Wiener-type invariants.  相似文献

Define a k-minimum-difference-representation (k-MDR) of a graph G to be a family of sets \({\{S(v): v\in V(G)\}}\) such that u and v are adjacent in G if and only if min{|S(u)?S(v)|, |S(v)?S(u)|} ≥ k. Define ρ min(G) to be the smallest k for which G has a k-MDR. In this note, we show that {ρ min(G)} is unbounded. In particular, we prove that for every k there is an n 0 such that for n > n 0 ‘almost all’ graphs of order n satisfy ρ min(G) > k. As our main tool, we prove a Ramsey-type result on traces of hypergraphs.  相似文献

Let G be a graph and let its maximum degree and maximum average degree be denoted by Δ(G) and mad(G), respectively. A neighbor sum distinguishing k-edge colorings of graph G is a proper k-edge coloring of graph G such that, for any edge uvE(G), the sum of colors assigned on incident edges of u is different from the sum of colors assigned on incident edges of v. The smallest value of k in such a coloring of G is denoted by χ(G). Flandrin et al. proposed the following conjecture that χ (G) ≤ Δ(G) + 2 for any connected graph with at least 3 vertices and GC5. In this paper, we prove that the conjecture holds for a normal graph with mad(G) < \(\tfrac{{37}}{{12}}\) and Δ(G) ≥ 7.  相似文献

Let G be a graph with vertex set V(G). For any integer k ≥ 1, a signed total k-dominating function is a function f: V(G) → {?1, 1} satisfying ∑xN(v)f(x) ≥ k for every vV(G), where N(v) is the neighborhood of v. The minimum of the values ∑vV(G)f(v), taken over all signed total k-dominating functions f, is called the signed total k-domination number. In this note we present some new sharp lower bounds on the signed total k-domination number of a graph. Some of our results improve known bounds.  相似文献

The kth power of a cycle C is the graph obtained from C by joining every pair of vertices with distance at most k on C. The second power of a cycle is called a square cycle. Pósa conjectured that every graph with minimum degree at least 2n/3 contains a hamiltonian square cycle. Later, Seymour proposed a more general conjecture that if G is a graph with minimum degree at least (kn)/(k + 1), then G contains the kth power of a hamiltonian cycle. Here we prove an Ore-type version of Pósa’s conjecture that if G is a graph in which deg(u) + deg(v) ≥ 4n/3 ? 1/3 for all non-adjacent vertices u and v, then for sufficiently large n, G contains a hamiltonian square cycle unless its minimum degree is exactly n/3 + 2 or n/3 + 5/3. A consequence of this result is an Ore-type analogue of a theorem of Aigner and Brandt.  相似文献

Let G = (V,A) be a digraph and k ≥ 1 an integer. For u, vV, we say that the vertex u distance k-dominate v if the distance from u to v at most k. A set D of vertices in G is a distance k-dominating set if each vertex of V D is distance k-dominated by some vertex of D. The distance k-domination number of G, denoted by γ k (G), is the minimum cardinality of a distance k-dominating set of G. Generalized de Bruijn digraphs G B (n, d) and generalized Kautz digraphs G K (n, d) are good candidates for interconnection networks. Denote Δ k := (∑ j=0 k d j )?1. F. Tian and J. Xu showed that ?nΔ k ? γ k (G B (n, d)) ≤?n/d k? and ?nΔ k ? ≤ γ k (G K (n, d)) ≤ ?n/d k ?. In this paper, we prove that every generalized de Bruijn digraph G B (n, d) has the distance k-domination number ?nΔ k ? or ?nΔ k ?+1, and the distance k-domination number of every generalized Kautz digraph G K (n, d) bounded above by ?n/(d k?1+d k )?. Additionally, we present various sufficient conditions for γ k (G B (n, d)) = ?nΔ k ? and γ k (G K (n, d)) = ?nΔ k ?.  相似文献

Consider a connected edge regular graph Γ with parameters (v, k, λ) and put b 1 = k?λ?1. A triple (u, w, z) of vertices is called (almost) good whenever d(u, w) = d(u, z) = 2 and µ(u, w)+µ(u, z) ≤ 2k ? 4b 1 + 3 (and µ(u, w) + µ(u, z) = 2k ? 4b 1 + 4). If k = 3b 1 + γ with γ ≥ ?2, a triple (u, w, z) is almost good, and Δ = [u] ∩ [w] ∩ [z] then: either |Δ| ≤ 2; or Δ is a 3-clique and Γ is a Clebsch graph; or Δ is a 3-clique, k = 16, b 1 = 6, and v = 31; or Δ is a 4-clique and Γ is a Schläfli graph.  相似文献

Let G be a digraph (without parallel edges) such that every directed cycle has length at least four; let β(G) denote the size of the smallest subset X ? E(G) such that G?X has no directed cycles, and let γ(G) be the number of unordered pairs {u, v} of vertices such that u, v are nonadjacent in G. It is easy to see that if γ(G) = 0 then β(G) = 0; what can we say about β(G) if γ(G) is bounded?
We prove that in general β(G) ≤ γ(G). We conjecture that in fact β(G) ≤ ½γ(G) (this would be best possible if true), and prove this conjecture in two special cases:
  • when V(G) is the union of two cliques
  • when the vertices of G can be arranged in a circle such that if distinct u, v, w are in clockwise order and uw is a (directed) edge, then so are both uv, vw.

An r-dynamic coloring of a graph G is a proper coloring c of the vertices such that |c(N(v))| ≥ min {r, deg(v)}, for each vV (G). The r-dynamic chromatic number of a graph G is the smallest k such that G admits an r-dynamic coloring with k colors. In this paper, we obtain the r-dynamic chromatic number of the line graph of helm graphs Hn for all r between minimum and maximum degree of Hn. Moreover, our proofs are constructive, what means that we give also polynomial time algorithms for the appropriate coloring. Finally, as the first, we define an equivalent model for edge coloring.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group. The degree(vertex) graph Γ(G) attached to G is a character degree graph. Its vertices are the degrees of the nonlinear irreducible complex characters of G, and different vertices m, n are adjacent if the greatest common divisor(m, n) 1. In this paper, we classify all graphs with four vertices that occur as Γ(G) for nonsolvable groups G.  相似文献
