Let λ be a finitary geometric theory and δ its classifying topos. We prove that δ is Boolean if and only if (1) every first-order formula in the language of λ is ?-provably equivalent to a geometric formula and (2) for any finite list of varibles, x, there are, up to ?-provable equivalence, only finitely many formulas, in the language of λ with free variables among x. We use this characterization to show that, when δ is Boolean, it is an atomic topos and can be viewed as a finite coproduct of topoi of continuous G-sets for topological groups G satisfying a certain finiteness condition.  相似文献

We study the relationship between the Tor-regularity and the local-regularity over a positively graded algebra defined over a field which coincide if the algebra is a standard graded polynomial ring. In this case both are characterizations of the so-called Castelnuovo–Mumford regularity. Moreover, we can characterize a standard graded polynomial ring as a K-algebra with extremal properties with respect to the Tor- and the local-regularity. For modules of finite projective dimension we get a nice formula relating the two regularity notions. Interesting examples are given to help to understand the relationship between the Tor- and the local-regularity in general.  相似文献

The main result of this paper is the analogue of the classical diagonal reduction of matrices over PIDs, for graded principal ideal domains. A method for diagonalizing graded matrices over a graded principal ideal domain is obtained. In Section 2 we emphasis on some applications. A procedure is given to decide whether or not a matrix defined over an ordinary Dedekind domain (i.e. nongraded), with cyclic class group, is diagonalizable. In case the answer is positive the diagonal form can be calculated. This can be done by taking a suitable graded PID which has the Dedekind domain as its part of degree zero. It turns out that, even in the case where diagonalization of a matrix over the part of degree zero is not possible, the diagonal representation over the graded ring contains useful information. The main reason for this is that the graded ring hasn't essentially more units than its part of degree zero. We illustrate this by considering the problem of von Neumann regularity of a matrix over a Gr-PID and to matrices over Dedekind domains with cyclic class group. These problems were the original motivation for studying diagonalization over graded rings.  相似文献

Let S be a semigroup. We study the structure of graded-simple S-graded algebras A and the exponential rate PIexp S-gr(A):= limn→∞ \(\sqrt[n]{{c_n^{S - gr}\left( A \right)}}\) of growth of codimensions c n S-gr (A) of their graded polynomial identities. This is of great interest since such algebras can have non-integer PIexp S-gr(A) despite being finite dimensional and associative. In addition, such algebras can have a non-trivial Jacobson radical J(A). All this is in strong contrast with the case when S is a group since in the group case J(A) is trivial, PIexp S-gr(A) is always integer and, if the base field is algebraically closed, then PIexp S-gr(A) equals dimA. Without any restrictions on the base field F, we classify graded-simple S-graded algebras A for a class of semigroups S which is complementary to the class of groups. We explicitly describe the structure of J(A) showing that J(A) is built up of pieces of a maximal S-graded semisimple subalgebra of A which turns out to be simple. When F is algebraically closed, we get an upper bound for \({\overline {\lim } _{n \to \infty }}\sqrt[n]{{c_n^{S - gr}\left( A \right)}}\). If A/J(A) ≈ M 2(F) and S is a right zero band, we show that this upper bound is sharp and PIexp S-gr(A) indeed exists. In particular, we present an infinite family of graded-simple algebras A with arbitrarily large non-integer PIexp S-gr(A).  相似文献

Let S be a semigroup. In this paper we investigate the injectivity of ?1(S) as a Banach right module over ?1(S). For weakly cancellative S this is the same as studying the flatness of the predual left module c0(S). For such semigroups S, we also investigate the projectivity of c0(S). We prove that for many semigroups S for which the Banach algebra ?1(S) is non-amenable, the ?1(S)-module ?1(S) is not injective. The main result about the projectivity of c0(S) states that for a weakly cancellative inverse semigroup S, c0(S) is projective if and only if S is finite.  相似文献

We introduce the concept of N-differential graded algebras (N-dga), and study the moduli space of deformations of the differential of an N-dga. We prove that it is controlled by what we call the (M,N)-Maurer–Cartan equation.  相似文献

We propose a definition of Gorenstein Differential Graded Algebra. In order to give examples, we introduce the technical notion of Gorenstein morphism. This enables us to prove the following: Theorem:Let A be a noetherian local commutative ring, let L be a bounded complex of finitely generated projective A-modules which is not homotopy equivalent to zero, and let ɛ=Hom A (L, L)be the endomorphism Differential Graded Algebra of L. Then ɛ is a Gorenstein Differential Graded Algebra if and only if A is a Gorenstein ring. Theorem:Let A be a noetherian local commutative ring with a sequence of elements a=(a 1,…,a n )in the maximal ideal, and let K(a)be the Koszul complex of a.Then K(a)is a Gorenstein Differential Graded Algebra if and only if A is a Gorenstein ring. Theorem:Let A be a noetherian local commutative ring containing a field k, and let X be a simply connected topological space with dim k H*(X;k)<∞,which has poincaré duality over k. Let C*(X;A)be the singular cochain Differential Graded Algebra of X with coefficients in A. Then C*(X; A)is a Gorenstein Differential Graded Algebra if and only if A is a Gorenstein ring. The second of these theorems is a generalization of a result by Avramov and Golod from [4].  相似文献

We prove that if is a Noetherian -graded algebra, then the Jacobson radical of is nilpotent under mild hypotheses on . We also consider affine PI-algebras graded by torsion groups. Finally we prove a Nullstellensatz-type theorem for enveloping algebras of Lie color algebras.

We extend the notion of stable equivalence to the class of locally finite graded algebras. For such an algebra Λ, we focus on the Krull–Schmidt category grΛ of finitely generated -graded Λ-modules with degree 0 maps, and the stable category obtained by factoring out those maps that factor through a graded projective module. We say that Λ and Γ are graded stably equivalent if there is an equivalence that commutes with the grading shift. Adapting arguments of Auslander and Reiten involving functor categories, we show that a graded stable equivalence α commutes with the syzygy operator (where defined) and preserves finitely presented modules. As a result, we see that if Λ is right noetherian (resp. right graded coherent), then so is any graded stably equivalent algebra. Furthermore, if Λ is right noetherian or k is artinian, we use almost split sequences to show that a graded stable equivalence preserves finite length modules. Of particular interest in the nonartinian case, we prove that any graded stable equivalence involving an algebra Λ with socΛ=0 must be a graded Morita equivalence.  相似文献
