We consider an infinite extension K of a local field of zero characteristic which is a union of an increasing sequence of finite extensions. K is equipped with an inductive limit topology; its conjugate K is a completion of K with respect to a topology given by certain explicitly written seminorms. The semigroup of measures, which defines a stable-like process X(t) on K, is concentrated on a compact subgroup S K. We study properties of the process X S (t), a part of X(t) in S. It is shown that the Hausdorff and packing dimensions of the image of an interval equal 0 almost surely. In the case of tamely ramified extensions a correct Hausdorff measure for this set is found.  相似文献

In this paper we generalize the classical Jacobson–Bourbaki correspondence for field extensions to K-vector space extensions (K a field). We use the continuity theorem of Lyons for rough paths in the p-variation topology to produce an elementary approach to the large deviation principle and the support theorem for diffusion processes. The proofs reduce to establish the corresponding results for Brownian motion itself as a rough path in the p-variation topology, 2<p<3, and the technical step is to handle the Lévy area in this respect. Summary ForR a commutative ring, which may have divisors of zero but which has no idempotents other than zero and one, we consider the problem of unique factorization of a polynomial with coefficients inR. We prove that, if the polynomial is separable, then such a unique factorization exists. We also define a Legendre symbol for a separable polynomial and a prime of commutative ring with exactly two idempotents in such a way that the symbols of classical number theory are subsumed. We calculate this symbol forR = Q in two cases where it has classically been of interest, namely quadratic extensions and cyclotomic extensions. We then calculate it in a situation which is new, namely the so called generalized cyclotomic extensions from a paper by S. Beale and D. K. Harrison. We study the Galois theory in the general ring situation and in particular define a category of separable polynomials (this is an extension of a paper by D. K. Harrison and M. Vitulli) and a cohomology theory of separable polynomials.  相似文献

We present statements equivalent to some fragments of the principle of non-deterministic inductive definitions (NID) by van den Berg (2013), working in a weak subsystem of constructive set theory CZF. We show that several statements in constructive topology which were initially proved using NID are equivalent to the elementary and finitary NIDs. We also show that the finitary NID is equivalent to its binary fragment and that the elementary NID is equivalent to a variant of NID based on the notion of biclosed subset. Our result suggests that proving these statements in constructive topology requires genuine extensions of CZF with the elementary or finitary NID.  相似文献

We consider Hilbert algebras with a supplementary Fréchet topology and get various extensions of the algebraic structure by using duality techniques. In particular we obtain optimal multiplier-type involutive algebras which in applications are large enough to be of significant practical use. If a Tychonoff space X is dense in a Tychonoff space Y, then Y is called a Tychonoff extension of X. Two Tychonoff extensions Y1 and Y2 of X are said to be equivalent, if there exists a homeomorphism which keeps X pointwise fixed. This defines an equivalence relation on the class of all Tychonoff extensions of X. We identify those extensions of X which belong to the same equivalence classes. For two Tychonoff extensions Y1 and Y2 of X, we write Y2?Y1, if there exists a continuous function which keeps X pointwise fixed. This is a partial order on the set of all (equivalence classes of) Tychonoff extensions of X. If a Tychonoff extension Y of X is such that Y\X is a singleton, then Y is called a one-point extension of X. Let T(X) denote the set of all one-point extensions of X. Our purpose is to study the order structure of the partially ordered set (T(X),?). For a locally compact space X, we define an order-anti-isomorphism from T(X) onto the set of all nonempty closed subsets of βX\X. We consider various sets of one-point extensions, including the set of all one-point locally compact extensions of X, the set of all one-point Lindelöf extensions of X, the set of all one-point pseudocompact extensions of X, and the set of all one-point ?ech-complete extensions of X, among others. We study how these sets of one-point extensions are related, and investigate the relation between their order structure, and the topology of subspaces of βX\X. We find some lower bounds for cardinalities of some of these sets of one-point extensions, and in a concluding section, we show how some of our results may be applied to obtain relations between the order structure of certain subfamilies of ideals of C(X), partially ordered with inclusion, and the topology of subspaces of βX\X. Let 𝒞 be a class of groups. We give sufficient conditions ensuring that a free product of residually 𝒞 groups is again residually 𝒞, and analogous conditions are given for LE-𝒞 groups. As a corollary, we obtain that the class of residually amenable groups and the one of locally embeddable into amenable (LEA) groups are closed under taking free products.

Moreover, we consider the pro-𝒞 topology and we characterize special HNN extensions and amalgamated free products that are residually 𝒞, where 𝒞 is a suitable class of groups. In this way, we describe special HNN extensions and amalgamated free products that are residually amenable.  相似文献

Based on an explicit representation of the Artin map for Kummer extensions, we present a method to compute arbitrary class fields. As in the proofs of the existence theorem, the problem is first reduced to the case where the field contains sufficiently many roots of unity. Using Kummer theory and an explicit version of the Artin reciprocity law we show how to compute class fields in this case. We conclude with several examples.

The paper is devoted to classification of finite abelian extensions L/K which satisfy the condition [L:K]|D L/K. Here K is a complete discretely valued field of characteristic 0 with an arbitrary residue field of prime characteristic p, D L/K is the different of L/K. This condition means that the depth of ramification in L/K has its almost maximal value. The condition appeared to play an important role in the study of additive Galois modules associated with the extension L/K. The study is based on the use of the notion of independently ramified extensions, introduced by the authors. Two principal theorems are proven, describing almost maximally ramified extensions in the cases when the absolute ramification index e is (resp. is not) divisible by p-1. LetX be a complex subspace of a complex spaceY. We show that hyperbolic imbeddedness ofX inY is characterized by relative compactness in the compact-open topology of certain spaces of continuous extensions of holomorphic maps from the punctured diskD* toX and fromM -A toX whereM is a complex manifold andA is a divisor onM with normal crossings. We apply these characterizations to obtain generalizations and extensions of theorems of Kobayashi, Kiernan, Kwack, Noguchi and Vitali forD and for higher dimensions. The subject of this paper is the relationship between the set of chief factors of a finite group G and extensions of an irreducible \mathbbK \mathbb{K} G-module U ( \mathbbK \mathbb{K} a field). Let H / L be a p-chief factor of G. We prove that, if H / L is complemented in a vertex of U, then there is a short exact sequence of Ext-functors for the module U and any \mathbbK \mathbb{K} G-module V. In some special cases, we prove the converse, which is false in general. We also consider the intersection of the centralizers of all the extensions of U by an irreducible module and provide new bounds for this group.  相似文献

An orthogonal representation of a graph is an assignment of nonzero real vectors to its vertices such that distinct non-adjacent vertices are assigned to orthogonal vectors. We prove general lower bounds on the dimension of orthogonal representations of graphs using the Borsuk–Ulam theorem from algebraic topology. Our bounds strengthen the Kneser conjecture, proved by Lovász in 1978, and some of its extensions due to Bárány, Schrijver, Dol’nikov, and Kriz. As applications, we determine the integrality gap of fractional upper bounds on the Shannon capacity of graphs and the quantum one-round communication complexity of certain promise equality problems.  相似文献

This paper presents a unified account of a number of dual category equivalences of relevance to the theory of canonical extensions of distributive lattices. Each of the categories involved is generated by an object having a two-element underlying set; additional structure may be algebraic (lattice or complete lattice operations) or relational (order) and, in either case, topology may or may not be included. Among the dualities considered is that due to B. Banaschewski between the categories of Boolean topological bounded distributive lattices and the category of ordered sets. We apply an idea of framed vertex operator algebras to a construction of local conformal nets of (injective type III1) factors on the circle corresponding to various lattice vertex operator algebras and their twisted orbifolds. In particular, we give a local conformal net corresponding to the moonshine vertex operator algebras of Frenkel-Lepowsky-Meurman. Its central charge is 24, it has a trivial representation theory in the sense that the vacuum sector is the only irreducible DHR sector, its vacuum character is the modular invariant J-function and its automorphism group (the gauge group) is the Monster group. We use our previous tools such as α-induction and complete rationality to study extensions of local conformal nets.  相似文献
