We prove global existence of nonnegative weak solutions to a degenerate parabolic system which models the interaction of two thin fluid films in a porous medium. Furthermore, we show that these weak solutions converge at an exponential rate towards flat equilibria.  相似文献

A reduction approach is developed in order to construct generalized simple wave solutions to quasilinear nonhomogenous hyperbolic systems of first order PDEs. The solutions sought must possess a special ansatz which permits time-evolution of the profile of a simple wave due to a source-like term. These solutions involve a free function which can be used to fit classes of initial or boundary value problems. By means of the proposed approach two governing models of interest in a variety of applications are investigated. Model constitutive laws consistent with the full reduction process are obtained and the occurence of singularities at a finite time for the resulting solutions is analysed. Furthermore a comparison is made between the results obtained within the present theoretical framework and the standard simple wave solutions of the corresponding homogeneous (source free) governing models.   相似文献

We study compactness properties for solutions of a semilinear elliptic equation with critical nonlinearity. For high dimensions, we are able to show that any solutions sequence with uniformly bounded energy is uniformly bounded in the interior of the domain. In particular, singularly perturbed Neumann equations admit pointwise concentration phenomena only at the boundary.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the analysis of a sixth-order nonlinear parabolic equation whose solutions describe the evolution of the particle density in a quantum fluid. We prove the global-in-time existence of weak nonnegative solutions in two and three space dimensions under periodic boundary conditions. Moreover, we show that these solutions are smooth and classical whenever the particle density is strictly positive, and we prove the long-time convergence to the spatial homogeneous equilibrium at a universal exponential rate. Our analysis strongly uses the Lyapunov property of the entropy functional.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with traveling waves of reaction-diffusion systems. The definition of coupled quasi-upper and quasi-lower solutions is introduced for systems with mixed quasimonotone functions, and the definition of ordered quasi-upper and quasi-lower solutions is also given for systems with quasimonotone nondecreasing functions. By the monotone iteration method, it is shown that if the system has a pair of coupled quasi-upper and quasi-lower solutions, then there exists at least a traveling wave solution. Moreover, if the system has a pair of ordered quasi-upper and quasi-lower solutions, then there exists at least a traveling wavefront. As an application we consider the delayed system of a mutualistic model.  相似文献

The time-independent superlinear Schrödinger equation with spatially periodic and positive potential admits sign-changing two-bump solutions if the set of positive solutions at the minimal nontrivial energy level is the disjoint union of period translates of a compact set. Assuming a reflection symmetric potential we give a condition on the equation that ensures this splitting property for the solution set. Moreover, we provide a recipe to explicitly verify the condition, and we carry out the calculation in dimension one for a specific class of potentials.  相似文献

In this paper, some mixed sublinear-superlinear critical problem extending the famous problem of Brezis–Nirenberg are analysed. The existence of solutions is discussed. A phase plane analysis is performed in order to transform the problem into an ordinary differential equation. Finally, a full classification of radial solutions according to their behavior at the origin is performed for subcritical, critical and supercritical cases.  相似文献

In this note we prove the uniqueness of weak solutions to a nonlinear hyperbolic system in electrohydrodynamics without the effects of a dissociation–recombination process. It is still open in the presence of a special dissociation–recombination process, although the existence of at least one weak solution was proved via the method of renormalized solutions by Feireisl [E. Feireisl, Weak solutions to a non-linear hyperbolic system arising in the theory of dielectric liquids, Math. Methods Appl. Sci. 18 (1995) 1041–1052] in 1995.  相似文献

We prove existence and uniqueness (up to rescaling) of positive radial entire solutions of supercritical semilinear biharmonic equations. The proof is performed with a shooting method which uses the value of the second derivative at the origin as a parameter. This method also enables us to find finite time blow up solutions. Finally, we study the convergence at infinity of smooth solutions towards the explicitly known singular solution. It turns out that the convergence is different in space dimensions n ≤ 12 and n ≥ 13. The Ginzburg-Landau-Allen-Cahn equation is a variational model for phase coexistence and for other physical problems. It contains a term given by a kinetic part of elliptic type plus a double-well potential. We assume that the functional depends on the space variables in a periodic way.We show that given a plane with rational normal, there are minimal solutions, satisfying the following properties. These solutions are asymptotic to the pure phases and are separated by an interface. The convergence to the pure phases is exponentially fast. The interface lies at a finite distance M from the chosen plane, where M is a universal constant. Furthermore, these solutions satisfy some monotonicity properties with respect to integer translations (namely, integer translations are always comparable to the function).We then show that all the interfaces of the global periodic minimizers satisfy similar monotonicity and plane-like properties.We also consider the case of possibly irrationally oriented planes. We show that either there is a one parameter family of minimizers whose graphs provide a field of extremals or there are at least two solutions, one which is a minimizer and another one which is not. These solutions also have interfaces bounded by a universal constant, they enjoy monotonicity properties with respect to integer translations and the nonminimal solutions are trapped inside a gap of the lamination induced by the minimizers.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate a singular elliptic system, which involves the critical Sobolev exponent and multiple Hardy-type terms. By employing variational methods, the existence of its positive solutions is established. We consider a nonlinear elliptic equation driven by the p-Laplacian with Dirichlet boundary conditions. Using variational techniques combined with the method of upper-lower solutions and suitable truncation arguments, we establish the existence of at least five nontrivial solutions. Two positive, two negative and a nodal (sign-changing) solution. Our framework of analysis incorporates both coercive and p-superlinear problems. Also the result on multiple constant sign solutions incorporates the case of concave-convex nonlinearities.  相似文献

Abstract

We obtain analytical solutions, by way of the homotopy analysis method, to a nonlinear wave equation describing the nonlinear evolution of a vector potential of an electromagnetic pulse propagating in an arbitrary pair plasma with temperature asymmetry. As the method is analytical, we are able to construct peaked structures which propagate through the pair plasma, analogous to peakon solutions. These solutions are obtained through a novel matching of inner and outer homotopy solutions. In order to ensure that our analytical results are valid over the whole real line, we also discuss the convergence of the analytical results to the true solution, through minimization of the residual errors resulting from an approximate analytical solution. These results demonstrate the existence of peaked pulses propagating through a pair plasma. The algebraic decay rate of the pulses are determined analytically, as well. The method discussed here can be applied to approximate solutions to similar nonlinear partial differential equations of nonlinear Schr¨odinger type.  相似文献

The purpose of the paper is to study properties of solutions of the Cauchy problem for the equation under the assumption . General selfsimilar solutions are constructed.
