In a convex polyhedron, a part of the Lamé eigenvalues with hard simple support boundary conditions does not depend on the Lamé coefficients and coincides with the Maxwell eigenvalues. The other eigenvalues depend linearly on a parameter s linked to the Lamé coefficients and the associated eigenmodes are the gradients of the Laplace–Dirichlet eigenfunctions. In a non‐convex polyhedron, such a splitting of the spectrum disappears partly or completely, in relation with the non‐H2 singularities of the Laplace–Dirichlet eigenfunctions. From the Maxwell equations point of view, this means that in a non‐convex polyhedron, the spectrum cannot be approximated by finite element methods using H1 elements. The a priori boundedness principle is proved for the Dirichlet boundary value problems for strongly singular higher-order nonlinear functional-differential equations. Several sufficient conditions of solvability of the Dirichlet problem under consideration are derived from the a priori boundedness principle. The proof of the a priori boundedness principle is based on the Agarwal-Kiguradze type theorems, which guarantee the existence of the Fredholm property for strongly singular higher-order linear differential equations with argument deviations under the two-point conjugate and right-focal boundary conditions.  相似文献

We consider the phase-field equations subject to Dirichlet boundary conditions. We construct families of exponential attractors and inertial manifolds which are continuous at any parameter of perturbation ${\epsilon >0 }${\epsilon >0 } including the singular limit case e = 0{\epsilon=0}. Besides, the continuity at e = 0{\epsilon=0} is obtained with respect to a metric independent of e{\epsilon}. Continuity properties of the global attractors are also examined.  相似文献

A singularly perturbed convection–diffusion equation with constant coefficients is considered in a half plane, with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The boundary function has a specified degree of regularity except for a jump discontinuity, or jump discontinuity in a derivative of specified order, at a point. Precise pointwise bounds for the derivatives of the solution are obtained. The bounds show both the strength of the interior layer emanating from the point of discontinuity and the blowup of the derivatives resulting from the discontinuity, and make precise the dependence of the derivatives on the singular perturbation parameter.  相似文献

The paper deals with a mixed problem for nonstationary generalised Maxwell equations. The boundary conditions are of Riemann-Hilbert type. The problem is reduced to a mixed problem for a wave equation where the boundary conditions are of Dirichlet type as they were introduced by D. Spencer in the middle 1950?s. We use the Fourier method to construct an approximate solution to the problem in certain function spaces of Sobolev type.  相似文献

The main objective of this paper is optimization of second‐order finite difference schemes for elliptic equations, in particular, for equations with singular solutions and exterior problems. A model problem corresponding to the Laplace equation on a semi‐infinite strip is considered. The boundary impedance (Neumann‐to‐Dirichlet map) is computed as the square root of an operator using the standard three‐point finite difference scheme with optimally chosen variable steps. The finite difference approximation of the boundary impedance for data of given smoothness is the problem of rational approximation of the square root on the operator's spectrum. We have implemented Zolotarev's optimal rational approx‐imant obtained in terms of elliptic functions. We have also found that a geometrical progression of the grid steps with optimally chosen parameters is almost as good as the optimal approximant. For bounded operators it increases from second to exponential the convergence order of the finite difference impedance with the convergence rate proportional to the inverse of the logarithm of the condition number. For the case of unbounded operators in Sobolev spaces associated with elliptic equations, the error decays as the exponential of the square root of the mesh dimension. As an example, we numerically compute the Green function on the boundary for the Laplace equation. Some features of the optimal grid obtained for the Laplace equation remain valid for more general elliptic problems with variable coefficients. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A 3D problem of reflection of a plane electromagnetic wave by a local impedance section of a wavy surface is considered. The boundary value problem for the system of Maxwell’s equations in a region with an irregular boundary is reduced to solution of systems of hypersingular integral equations. The problem on the reflection of the field of a plane H-polarized three-dimensional electromagnetic wave from a perfectly conducting interface between media which contains a local perfectly conducting inhomogeneity is considered. To construct a numerical algorithm, the boundary value problem for the system of Maxwell equations in an infinite domain with irregular boundary is reduced to a system of singular integral equations, which is solved by the approximation–collocation method. The elements of the resulting complex matrix are calculated by a specially developed algorithm. The solution of the system of singular integral equations is used to obtain an integral representation for the reflected electromagnetic field and computational formulas for the directional diagram of the reflected electromagnetic field in the far region.  相似文献

Interior boundary value problems are solved for the operator of generalized biaxially symmetric potential theory. The boundary conditions consist of Dirichlet data on the nonsingular part of the boundary and Dirichlet data or growth restrictions on the singular hyperplanes, depending on the values of parameters of the operator. Continuation of solutions beyond the singular hyperplanes is considered, yielding an improvement of a result of Huber. Potential theoretic methods are used for the investigation.  相似文献

The lack of a general maximum principle for biharmonic equations suggests to study under which boundary conditions the positivity preserving property holds. We show that this property holds in general domains for suitable linear combinations of Dirichlet and Navier boundary conditions. The spectrum of this operator exhibits some unexpected features: radial data may generate nonradial solutions. These boundary conditions are also of some interest in semilinear equations, since they enable us to give explicit radial singular solutions to fourth order Gelfand-type problems.  相似文献

The initial boundary-value problem for the modified NavierStokes equations is considered in the case of homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. Under some assumptions, partial regularity for its solution is proved. It is shown that Hausdorff's dimension of the set of singular points is not greater than three. In this paper we prove the existence of a unique solution for a class of stochastic parabolic partial differential equations in bounded domains, with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The main tool is an equivalence result, provided by the stochastic characteristics method, between the stochastic equations under investigation and a class of deterministic parabolic equations with moving boundaries, depending on random coefficients. We show the existence of the solution to this last problem, thus providing a solution to the former.  相似文献

Stochastic Dirichlet and Neumann boundary value problems and stochastic mixed problems have been formulated. As a result the stochastic singular integral equations have been obtained. A way of solving these equations by means of discretization of a boundary using stochastic boundary elements has been presented, resulting in a set of random algebraic equations. It has been proved that for Dirichlet and Neumann problems probabilistic characteristics (i.e. moments: expected value and correlation function) fulfilled deterministic singular integral equations.
