We report high resolution vibrational spectra in the HBr (2560 cm(-1)) and DBr (1840 cm(-1)) stretching regions for Br-HBr and Br-DBr entrance channel complexes isolated in solid parahydrogen (pH2). The Br-HBr complexes are generated by synthesizing solid pH2 crystals doped with trace amounts of HBr/Br2 mixtures followed by 355 nm in situ photodissociation of Br2 to form Br atoms. After photolysis is complete, the solid is warmed from 2 to 4.3 K resulting in the irreversible formation of Br-HBr complexes. The large 36.63 cm(-1) HBr monomer-to-complex induced vibrational shift to lower energy measured in these studies is consistent with the linear Br-HBr hydrogen bonded structure predicted from theory. The 0.02 cm(-1) Br-HBr absorption linewidths indicate a 1 ns vibrational excited state lifetime for these entrance channel complexes in solid pH2.  相似文献

We investigate the conditions when noble-gas hydrides can be found in real environments and report on the preparation and identification of the HXeBr···CO(2) complex in a xenon matrix and HXeBr in a carbon dioxide matrix. The H-Xe stretching mode of the HXeBr···CO(2) complex in a xenon matrix is observed at 1557 cm(-1), showing a spectral shift of +53 cm(-1) from the HXeBr monomer. The calculations at the CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVTZ-PP(Xe,Br) level of theory give two stable structures for the HXeBr···CO(2) complex with frequency shifts of +55 and +103 cm(-1), respectively. On the basis of the calculations, the experimentally observed band is assigned to the more stable structure with a "parallel" geometry. The HXeBr molecule was prepared in a carbon dioxide matrix and has the H-Xe stretching frequency of 1646 cm(-1), meaning a strong matrix shift and stabilization of the H-Xe bond. The deuterated species DXeBr in a carbon dioxide matrix absorbs at 1200 cm(-1). This is the first case where a noble-gas hydride is prepared in a molecular solid. The thermal stabilities of HXeBr and HXeBr···CO(2) complex in a xenon matrix and HXeBr in a carbon dioxide matrix were examined. We have found a high thermal stability of HXeBr in carbon dioxide ice (at least up to 100 K), i.e., under conditions that may occur in nature.  相似文献

The mechanism of reaction CI2+2HBr=2HCI+Br2 has been carefully investigated with density functional theory (DFT) at B3LYP/6-311G** level. A series of three-centred and four-centred transition states have been obtained. The activation energy (138.96 and 147.24 kJ/mol, respectively) of two bimolecular elementary reactions CI2+HBr→HCI+BrCI and BrCI+HBr→HCI+Br2 is smaller than the dissociation energy of CI2, HBr and BrCI, indicating that it is favorable for the title reaction occurring in the bimolecular form. The reaction has been applied to the chemical engineering process of recycling Br2 from HBr. Gaseous CI2 directly reacts with HBr gas, which produces gaseous mixtures containing Br2, and liquid Br2 and HCI are obtained by cooling the mixtures and further separated by absorption with CCI4. The recovery percentage of Br2 is more than 96%, and the CI2 remaining in liquid Br2 is less than 3.0%. The paper provides a good example of solving the difficult problem in chemical engineering with basic theory.  相似文献

Potential applicability of undoped, B‐, and N‐doped carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for elaboration of the working materials of gas sensors of hydrogen halide molecules HX (X = F, Cl, Br) is analyzed in computational studies of molecular adsorption on the CNTs surfaces. Density Functional Theory (DFT)‐based geometry‐optimized calculations of the electronic structure of undoped, B‐, and N‐doped CNTs of (3,3) and (5,5) chiralities with adsorbed HX (X = F, Cl, Br) molecules are performed within molecular cluster approach. Relaxed geometries, binding energies between the adsorbates and the nanotubes, charge states of the adsorbates and the electronic wave function contours are calculated and analyzed in the context of gas sensing applications. Obtained results are supplemented by calculations of adsorption of hydrogen halides on B(N)‐doped graphene sheets which are considered as model approximation for large‐diameter CNTs. It is found that the B‐doped CNTs are perspective for elaboration of sensing materials for detection of HCl and HBr molecules. The undoped and the N‐doped CNTs are predicted to be less suitable materials for detection of hydrogen halide gases HX (X = F, Cl, Br). © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

This FTIR study focuses on solid-state chemistry associated with formation and interconversion of the ionic HX (X = Cl, Br) hydrates. Kinetic data are reported for conversions of ice nanocrystal arrays exposed to the saturation pressure of the acids in the 110 approximately 125 K range. The product is amorphous acid dihydrate in the case of HBr, and amorphous monohydrate for HCl. The rate-determining step is identified as HX diffusion through the hydrate product crust toward the interfacial reaction zone, rather than diffusion through ice, as commonly believed. Slowing of the conversion process is thus observed with increasing thickness of the crust. The diffusion coefficient (D(e)) and activation energy values for HX diffusion through the hydrates were evaluated with the help of the shrinking-core model. Hydrate crystallization occurs as a separate step, upon heating above 130 K. Subsequently, rates of reversible transitions between crystal di- and monohydrates were observed upon exposure to acid vapor and acid evacuation. In conversion from di- to monohydrate, the rate slows after fast formation of several layers; subsequently, diffusion through the product crust appears to be the rate-controlling step. The activation energy for HBr diffusion through crystal dihydrate is found to be significantly higher than that for the amorphous analogue. Conjecture is offered for a molecular mechanism of HX transport through the crystal hydrate, based on (i) spectroscopic/computational evidence for the presence of molecular HX bonded to X(-) in each of the ionic hydrate phases and (ii) the relative E(a) values found for HBr and HCl diffusion. Monte Carlo modeling suggests acid transport to the reaction zone along boundaries between "nanocrystallites" generated by multiple hydrate nucleation events at the particle surfaces. The reverse conversion, of crystalline monohydrate particles to the dihydrate phase, as well as dihydrate to trihydrate, displays nearly constant rate throughout the particle conversion; suggesting desorption of HX from the particle surface as the rate-limiting factor. Like for D(e), the activation energies for desorption were found to be approximately 20% greater for HCl than HBr for related hydrate phases.  相似文献

Absolute reaction rates for F + HX and F + DX (X = I, Br, Cl) have been obtained by monitoring the rise time of HF (DF) vibrational fluorescence following multiphoton dissociation of SF6 in mixtures of HX (DX) and argon. The cross sections for reaction are, in units of 10?16 cm2, 4.37, 5.26, and 1.16 for HI, HBr, and HCl, respectively. The isotope effects kHX/kDX, are 1.29 ± 0.14, 1.29 ± 0.18, and 1.38 ± 0.29, respectively.  相似文献

a quasiclassical trajectory study has been carried out to investigate the dynamics of collisions between Br + HCl (1 υ′ 4) and Br + DCl (υ′ = 2,3). For HCl (υ′ 2) and DCl (υ′ = 3), the endoergic reaction producing Cl + HBr occurs readily, and at approximately the same rate as vibrational deactivation in non-reactive collisions. For HCl(υ′ = 2) and DCl(υ′ = 3), where the initial vibrational energies are similar to |ΔE0 for the reaction, the rates of both reactive and inelastic processes are quite strongly temperature dependent but the ratio of reactive to inelastic encounters is not a strong function of T. Comparison of the calculated results for Br + HCl(υ′ = 1) with experimentally determined rates strongly suggests that, at least at low temperatures, removal of HCl(υ′ = 1) by Br atoms occurs predominantly via electronically non-adiabatic vibrational relaxation.  相似文献

Time-resolved Fourier transform infrared (TRFTIR) emission spectroscopy has been used to study the 193 nm photolysis of vinyl bromide (C(2)H(3)Br) and vinyl chloride (C(2)H(3)Cl). Time-resolved IR emission was analysed to obtain nascent vibrational state populations of two primary photolysis products: HBr (v = 1-7) and HCl (v = 1-6). In both cases the nascent vibrational state populations monotonically decrease with increasing v and are in excellent agreement with previously published data. Time-resolved populations were analysed to yield rate constants for vibrational relaxation of HBr (v = 1-3) and HCl (v = 1-4) by parent vinyl bromide and vinyl chloride, respectively. In both cases the rate constants were found to increase with increasing vibrational quantum number, in agreement with a single quantum de-excitation via vibrational to vibrational energy transfer. Butadiene (C(4)H(6)) was identified as a secondary product of the photolysis of both vinyl halides, and shown to be formed from the reaction of parent vinyl halide with the vinyl radical. The presence of a buffer gas was found to produce a strong emission feature centred at 2,200 cm(-1), the intensity of which was dependent on the pressure of the buffer gas used, and whose kinetics are indicative of a secondary reaction product. We propose that this emission is from the vibrational progression of the electronic transition A(0, v, 1) --> X(0, v, 2) in the secondary reaction product C(2)H, whose formation route is favoured by the presence of buffer gas.  相似文献

In addition to revealing the stretch-mode bands of the smallest mixed clusters of HCl and HBr (HX) with water, the ragout-jet FTIR spectra of dense mixed water-acid supersonic jets include bands that result from the interaction of HX with larger water clusters. It is argued here that low jet temperatures prevent the water-cluster-bound HX molecules from becoming sufficiently solvated to induce ionic dissociation. The molecular nature of the HX can be deduced directly from the observed influence of changing from HCl to HBr and from replacing H2O with D2O. Furthermore, the band positions of HX are roughly coincidental with bands assigned to molecular HCl and HBr adsorbed on ice nanocrystal surfaces at temperatures below 100 K. It is also interesting that the HX band positions and widths approximate those of HX bound to the surface of amorphous ice films at <60 K. Though computational results suggest the adsorbed HX molecules observed in the jet expansions are weakly distorted by single coordination with surface dangling-oxygen atoms, on-the-fly trajectories indicate that the cluster skeletons undergo large-amplitude low-frequency vibrations. Local HX solvation, the extent of proton sharing, and the HX vibrational spectra undergo serious modulation on a picosecond time scale.  相似文献

Molecular beam cooled HCl was state selected by two-photon excitation of the V (1) summation operator(0(+)) [v=9,11-13,15], E (1) summation operator(0(+)) [v=0], and g (3) summation operator(-)(0(+)) [v=0] states through either the Q(0) or Q(1) lines of the respective (1,3) summation operator(0(+))<--<--X (1) summation operator(0(+)) transition. Similarly, HBr was excited to the V (1) summation operator(0(+)) [v=m+3, m+5-m+8], E (1) summation operator(0(+)) [v=0], and H (1) summation operator(0(+)) [v=0] states through the Q(0) or Q(1) lines. Following absorption of a third photon, protons were formed by three different mechanisms and detected using velocity map imaging. (1) H(*)(n=2) was formed in coincidence with (2)P(i) halogen atoms and subsequently ionized. For HCl, photodissociation into H(*)(n=2)+Cl((2)P(12)) was dominant over the formation of Cl((2)P(32)) and was attributed to parallel excitation of the repulsive [(2) (2)Pi4llambda] superexcited (Omega=0) states. For HBr, the Br((2)P(32))Br((2)P(12)) ratio decreases with increasing excitation energy. This indicates that both the [(3) (2)Pi(12)5llambda] and the [B (2) summation operator5llambda] superexcited (Omega=0) states contribute to the formation of H(*)(n=2). (2) For selected intermediate states HCl was found to dissociate into the H(+)+Cl(-) ion pair with over 20% relative yield. A mechanism is proposed by which a bound [A (2) summation operatornlsigma] (1) summation operator(0(+)) superexcited state acts as a gateway state to dissociation into the ion pair. (3) For all intermediate states, protons were formed by dissociation of HX(+)[v(+)] following a parallel, DeltaOmega=0, excitation. The quantum yield for the dissociation process was obtained using previously reported photoionization efficiency data and was found to peak at v(+)=6-7 for HCl and v(+)=12 for HBr. This is consistent with excitation of the repulsive A(2) summation operator(12) and (2) (2)Pi states of HCl(+), and the (3) (2)Pi state of HBr(+). Rotational alignment of the Omega=0(+) intermediate states is evident from the angular distribution of the excited H(*)(n=2) photofragments. This effect has been observed previously and was used here to verify the reliability of the measured spatial anisotropy parameters.  相似文献

To understand the mechanism of aqueous acid dissociation, which plays a fundamental role in aqueous chemistry, the ionic dissociation of HX acids (X=F, Cl, Br, and I) in water clusters up to hexamer is examined using density functional theory and M?ller-Plesset second-order perturbation methods (MP2). Further accurate analysis based on the coupled clusters theory with singles and doubles excitations agrees with the MP2 results. The equilibrium structures, binding energies, electronic properties, stretching frequencies, and rotational constants of HX(H(2)O)(n) and X(-)(H(3)O)(+)(H(2)O)(n-1) are calculated. The dissociated structures of HF and HCl can be formed for n>/=4, while those of HBr and HI can be formed for n>/=3. Among these, the dissociated structures of HX (X=Cl, Br, and I) are more stable than the undissociated ones for n>/=4, while such cases for HF would require much more than six water molecules, in agreement with previous reports. The IR spectra of stable clusters including anharmonic frequencies are predicted to facilitate IR experimental studies. Undissociated systems have X-H stretching modes which are highly redshifted by hydration. Dissociated hydrogen halides show three characteristic OH stretching modes of hydronium moiety, which are redshifted from the OH stretching modes of water molecules.  相似文献

The optimised geometries of heterocyclic hydrogen-bonded complexes, C2H4O...HX and C3H6O...HX, where X=F or Cl, were determined at DFT/B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) computational level. Structural, electronic and vibrational properties of these complexes are used in order to compare the strained ring, which confer the great reactivity of these heterocyclic rings with monoprotic acids, forming a primary hydrogen bond. A secondary hydrogen bond between the hydrogen atoms of the CH2 groups and the halide species also takes place, thus causing a nonlinearity (characterized by the theta angle), in the primary hydrogen bond.  相似文献

The mechanisms for the reactions of isobutane and adamantane with polyhalogen electrophiles (HHal(2)(+), Hal(3)(+), Hal(5)(+), and Hal(7)(+), Hal = Cl, Br, or I) were studied computationally at the MP2 and B3LYP levels of theory with the 6-31G (C, H, Cl, Br) and 3-21G (I) basis sets, as well as experimentally for adamantane halogenations in Br(2), Br(2)/HBr, and I(+)Cl(-)/CCl(4). The transition structures for the activation step display almost linear C...H...Hal interactions and are characterized by significant charge transfer to the electrophile; the hydrocarbon moieties resemble the respective radical cation structures. The regiospecificities for polar halogenations of the 3-degree C-H bonds of adamantane, the high experimental kinetic isotope effects (k(H)/k(D) = 3-4), the rate accelerations in the presence of Lewis and proton (HBr) acids, and the high kinetic orders for halogen (7.5 for Br(2)) can only be understood in terms of an H-coupled electron-transfer mechanism. The three centered-two electron (3c-2e) electrophilic mechanistic concept based on the attack of the electrophile on a C-H bond does not apply; electrophilic 3c-2e interactions dominate the C-H activations only with nonoxidizing electrophiles such as carbocations. This was shown by a comparative computational analysis of the electrophilic and H-coupled electron-transfer activation mechanisms for the isobutane reaction with an ambident electrophile, the allyl cation, at the above levels of theory.  相似文献

The vibrational spectra of mixed cyanide-halide complexes, M(CN)4X 2 2- and M(CN)5X2- (M=Pt and Pd; X=F, Cl, Br and I), have been systematically investigated by ab initio RHF, B3LYP and MP2 methods with LanL2DZ and SDD basis sets. The calculated vibrational frequencies of platinum complexes are evaluated via comparison with the experimental values. In the infrared frequency region, the C--N stretching vibrational frequencies calculated at B3LYP level with two basis sets are in good agreement with the observed values with deviations, -16-4 cm(-1) for Pt(CN)4X 2 2- and -18 to -2 cm(-1) for Pt(CN)5X2-. However, in far-infrared region, the results obtained at RHF level are better than those calculated at B3LYP and MP2 levels. For RHF/SDD method, the deviations for Ptz.sbnd;X and Ptz.sbnd;C stretching vibrational frequencies are -14-1 and -12 to -2 cm(-1) in the complex Pt(CN)4X2 2-, -19 to -11 and -15-14 cm(-1) in the Pt(CN)5X2- complex, respectively. The vibrational frequencies of palladium(IV) and some platinum(IV) complexes that have not been experimentally reported are predicted.  相似文献

The structures, energetic, and vibrational properties of MDyX(4) (M = Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs; X = F, Cl, Br, I) mixed alkali halide/dysprosium halide complexes have been investigated by a joint computational and experimental, matrix-isolation Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopic (MI-IR), study. According to our DFT computations for the complexes with heavier halides and alkali metals the ground-state structure is the tridentate isomer; while at high temperatures the bidentate structural isomer dominates. The survey of various dissociation processes revealed the preference of the dissociation to neutral MX and DyX(3) fragments over ionic and radical dissociation products. Cationic complexes are considerably less stable at 1000 K than the neutral complexes, and they prefer to dissociate to M(+) + DyX(4)(?) fragments. The vapor species of selected mixtures of NaBr and CsBr with DyBr(3) and of CsI with DyI(3) in the temperature range 900-1000 K have been isolated in krypton and xenon matrices and investigated by infrared spectroscopy. Besides the characteristic vibrational frequencies of the monomeric and dimeric alkali halide species and of the dysprosium trihalide molecules, certain signals indicated the formation of MDyX(4) (M = Na, Cs; X = Br, I) mixed complexes. Comparison with the computed vibrational and thermodynamic characteristics of the relevant species lead to the conclusion that these complexes appear in the vapor predominantly as the C(2v)-symmetry bidentate isomer. This is the first time that this structure was identified in an experimental vibrational spectroscopic study. The signals appearing upon performing a thermal anneal cycle were tentatively assigned to the double complex M(2)DyX(5) (M = Na, Cs; X = Br, I). A structure in which one alkali atom is bound to dysprosium by three and the other by two bridges is proposed for these double complexes.  相似文献

Among rare gases, xenon features an unusually broad nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) chemical shift range in its compounds and as a non-bonded Xe atom introduced into different environments. In this work we show that (129)Xe NMR chemical shifts in the recently prepared, matrix-isolated xenon compounds appear in new, so far unexplored (129)Xe chemical shift ranges. State-of-the-art theoretical predictions of NMR chemical shifts in compounds of general formula HXeY (Y = H, F, Cl, Br, I, -CN, -NC, -CCH, -CCCCH, -CCCN, -CCXeH, -OXeH, -OH, -SH) as well as in the recently prepared ClXeCN and ClXeNC species are reported. The bonding situation of Xe in the studied compounds is rather different from the previously characterized cases as Xe appears in the electronic state corresponding to a situation with a low formal oxidation state, between I and II in these compounds. Accordingly, the predicted (129)Xe chemical shifts occur in new NMR ranges for this nucleus: ca. 500-1000 ppm (wrt Xe gas) for HXeY species and ca. 1100-1600 ppm for ClXeCN and ClXeNC. These new ranges fall between those corresponding to the weakly-bonded Xe(0) atom in guest-host systems (δ < 300 ppm) and in the hitherto characterized Xe molecules (δ > 2000 ppm). The importance of relativistic effects is discussed. Relativistic effects only slightly modulate the (129)Xe chemical shift that is obtained already at the nonrelativistic CCSD(T) level. In contrast, spin-orbit-induced shielding effects on the (1)H chemical shifts of the H1 atom directly bonded to the Xe center largely overwhelm the nonrelativistic deshielding effects. This leads to an overall negative (1)H chemical shift in the range between -5 and -25 ppm (wrt CH(4)). Thus, the relativistic effects induced by the heavy Xe atom appear considerably more important for the chemical shift of the neighbouring, light hydrogen atom than that of the Xe nucleus itself. The predicted NMR parameters facilitate an unambiguous experimental identification of these novel compounds.  相似文献
