This paper is devoted to the study on the Lp ‐mapping properties for certain singular integral operators with rough kernels and related Littlewood–Paley functions along “polynomial curves” on product spaces ?m × ?n (m ≥ 2, n ≥ 2). By means of the method of block decomposition for kernel functions and some delicate estimates on Fourier transforms, the author proves that the singular integral operators and Littlewood–Paley functions are bounded on Lp (?m × ?n ), p ∈ (1, ∞), and the bounds are independent of the coefficients of the polynomials. These results essentially improve or extend some well‐known results. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

We extend here some existence and uniqueness results for the exterior Stokes problem in weighted Sobolev spaces. We also study the regularity of the solutions ( u ,π) and prove optimal a priori estimates for the solutions with ∇2 u ,∇πLp. The influence of some compatibility conditions on the behaviour at infinity of the solution is finally studied and leads to new asymptotic expansions. We consider a finite element method (FEM) with arbitrary polynomial degree for nonlinear monotone elliptic problems. Using a linear elliptic projection, we first give a new short proof of the optimal convergence rate of the FEM in the L2 norm. We then derive optimal a priori error estimates in the H1 and L2 norm for a FEM with variational crimes due to numerical integration. As an application, we derive a priori error estimates for a numerical homogenization method applied to nonlinear monotone elliptic problems. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We derive residual‐based a posteriori error estimates of finite element method for linear wave equation with discontinuous coefficients in a two‐dimensional convex polygonal domain. A posteriori error estimates for both the space‐discrete case and for implicit fully discrete scheme are discussed in L(L2) norm. The main ingredients used in deriving a posteriori estimates are new Clément type interpolation estimates in conjunction with appropriate adaption of the elliptic reconstruction technique of continuous and discrete solutions. We use only an energy argument to establish a posteriori error estimates with optimal order convergence in the L(L2) norm.  相似文献

We give some integrability conditions for the coefficients of a sequence of elliptic systems with varying coefficients in order to obtain the stability for homogenization. In the case of equations, it is well known that equi‐integrability and bound in L1 are enough for this purpose; however, this is based on the maximum principle, and then, it does not work for systems. Here, we use an extension of the Murat–Tartar div‐curl lemma because of M. Briane, J. Casado‐Díaz, and F. Murat in order to obtain the stability by homogenization for systems uniformly elliptic, with bounded coefficients in , with N the dimension of the space. We also show that a weaker ellipticity condition can be assumed, but then, we need a stronger integrability for the coefficients. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this article we analyze the L2 least‐squares finite element approximations to the incompressible inviscid rotational flow problem, which is recast into the velocity‐vorticity‐pressure formulation. The least‐squares functional is defined in terms of the sum of the squared L2 norms of the residual equations over a suitable product function space. We first derive a coercivity type a priori estimate for the first‐order system problem that will play the crucial role in the error analysis. We then show that the method exhibits an optimal rate of convergence in the H1 norm for velocity and pressure and a suboptimal rate of convergence in the L2 norm for vorticity. A numerical example in two dimensions is presented, which confirms the theoretical error estimates. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2004  相似文献

We extend the Gustavsson–Peetre method to the context of N ‐tuples of Banach spaces. We give estimates for the norm of the interpolated operator. The method is applied to tuples of weighted L p ‐spaces and to tuples of Orlicz spaces identifying the outcoming spaces in both cases. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

An FFT-based method, introduced by Moulinec and Suquet [1] in 1994, is an effective alternative to conventional Finite Element Method (FEM) for numerical homogenization of periodic media. Here, we summarize the recent variational reformulation and discretizations by Vondřejc et al. [2–6], which are based on conforming Galerkin approximations with trigonometric polynomials as basis functions. This insight, naturally leading to guaranteed bounds on homogenized matrix, opens a wide area of further investigations, which are also briefly discussed here. (© 2014 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. In this paper, we obtain the global regularity estimates in Orlicz spaces for second‐order divergence elliptic and parabolic equations with BMO coefficients in the whole space. In fact, the global result can follow from the local estimates. As a corollary we obtain Lp‐type regularity estimates for such equations. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We shall construct a periodic strong solution of the Navier–Stokes equations for some periodic external force in a perturbed half‐space and an aperture domain of the dimension n?3. Our proof is based on LpLq estimates of the Stokes semigroup. We apply LpLq estimates to the integral equation which is transformed from the original equation. As a result, we obtain the existence and uniqueness of periodic strong solutions. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper we are concerned with the initial boundary value problem of the micropolar fluid system in a three dimensional bounded domain. We study the resolvent problem of the linearized equations and prove the generation of analytic semigroup and its time decay estimates. In particular, LpLq type estimates are obtained. By use of the LpLq estimates for the semigroup, we prove the existence theorem of global in time solution to the original nonlinear problem for small initial data. Furthermore, we study the magneto‐micropolar fluid system in the final section. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this article, we propose and analyze an alternate proof of a priori error estimates for semidiscrete Galerkin approximations to a general second order linear parabolic initial and boundary value problem with rough initial data. Our analysis is based on energy arguments without using parabolic duality. Further, it follows the spirit of the proof technique used for deriving optimal error estimates for finite element approximations to parabolic problems with smooth initial data and hence, it unifies both theories, that is, one for smooth initial data and other for nonsmooth data. Moreover, the proposed technique is also extended to a semidiscrete mixed method for linear parabolic problems. In both cases, optimal L 2-error estimates are derived, when the initial data is in L 2. A superconvergence phenomenon is also observed, which is then used to prove L -estimates for linear parabolic problems defined on two-dimensional spatial domain again with rough initial data.  相似文献

We analyze a mixed finite element discretization of a second‐order quasilinear problem based on the Raviart‐Thomas space. We prove that the discrete problem is solvable and provide a local uniqueness result for the solution. We also obtain optimal order L2‐error estimates for both the scalar variable and the associated flux. The main feature of our method is that it is free from the boundness conditions required in previous works on the coefficients of the quasilinear operator. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We prove local a priori estimates inL p , 1<p<∞, for first-order linear operators that satisfy the Nirenberg-Treves condition (p) and whose coefficients have Lipschitz continuous derivatives of order one. When the number of variables is two, only Lipschitz continuity of the coefficients is assumed. This extends toL p spaces estimates that were previously known forp=2. Examples show that the regularity required from the coefficients is essentially minimal. Research partially supported by CNPq.  相似文献

The local discontinuous Galerkin method has been developed recently by Cockburn and Shu for convection‐dominated convection‐diffusion equations. In this article, we consider versions of this method with interior penalties for the numerical solution of transport equations, and derive a priori error estimates. We consider two interior penalty methods, one that penalizes jumps in the solution across interelement boundaries, and another that also penalizes jumps in the diffusive flux across such boundaries. For the first penalty method, we demonstrate convergence of order k in the L(L2) norm when polynomials of minimal degree k are used, and for the second penalty method, we demonstrate convergence of order k+1/2. Through a parabolic lift argument, we show improved convergence of order k+1/2 (k+1) in the L2(L2) norm for the first penalty method with a penalty parameter of order one (h?1). © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. We consider convergence of the covolume or finite volume element solution to linear elliptic and parabolic problems. Error estimates and superconvergence results in the Lp norm, 2 ≤ p ≤ ∞, are derived. We also show second‐order convergence in the Lp norm between the covolume and the corresponding finite element solutions and between their gradients. The main tools used in this article are an extension of the “supercloseness” results in Chou and Li [Math Comp 69(229) (2000), 103–120] to the Lp based spaces, duality arguments, and the discrete Green's function method. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We establish uniform Lipschitz estimates for second‐order elliptic systems in divergence form with rapidly oscillating, almost‐periodic coefficients. We give interior estimates as well as estimates up to the boundary in bounded C1,α domains with either Dirichlet or Neumann data. The main results extend those in the periodic setting due to Avellaneda and Lin for interior and Dirichlet boundary estimates and later Kenig, Lin, and Shen for the Neumann boundary conditions. In contrast to these papers, our arguments are constructive (and thus the constants are in principle computable) and the results for the Neumann conditions are new even in the periodic setting, since we can treat nonsymmetric coefficients. We also obtain uniform W1,p estimates.© 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

We treat the finite volume element method (FVE) for solving general second order elliptic problems as a perturbation of the linear finite element method (FEM), and obtain the optimal H1 error estimate, H1 superconvergence and Lp (1 < p ≤ ∞) error estimates between the solution of the FVE and that of the FEM. In particular, the superconvergence result does not require any extra assumptions on the mesh except quasi‐uniform. Thus the error estimates of the FVE can be derived by the standard error estimates of the FEM. Moreover we consider the effects of numerical integration and prove that the use of barycenter quadrature rule does not decrease the convergence orders of the FVE. The results of this article reveal that the FVE is in close relationship with the FEM. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 19: 693–708, 2003.  相似文献

We show that the local trigonometric bases introduced by Malvar, Coifman and Meyer constitute bases, but not unconditional bases, for Lp(ℝ) with 1<p<∞, p≠2. In addition, we characterize the functions in Lp(ℝ) for 1<p<∞ in terms of their local trigonometric basis coefficients. Dedicated to Dr. Charles A.
