Two novel azocalix[4]pyrrole Amberlite XAD-2 polymeric chelating resins were synthesized by covalently linking diazotized Amberlite XAD-2 with calix[4]pyrrole macrocycles. The chelating resins were used for extraction, preconcentration and sequential separation of metal ions such as Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) by column chromatography prior to their determination by UV/vis spectrophotometry or flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry (FAAS) or inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES). Various parameters such as effect of pH on absorption, concentration of eluting agents, flow rate, total sorption capacity, exchange kinetics, preconcentration factor, distribution coefficient, breakthrough capacity and resin stability, were optimized for effective separation and preconcentration. The resin showed good ability for the separation of metal ions from binary and ternary mixture on the basis of pH of absorption and concentration of eluting agents. The newly synthesized resins showed good potential for trace enrichment of Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) metal ions, especially for Cu(II), as compared to the earlier reported resins. The synthesized resins were recycled at least 8-10 times without much affecting column sorption capacity. The presented method was successfully applied for determination of Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) in natural and ground water samples.  相似文献

The kaolinite sample was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray powder diffraction, and was applied as adsorbent for the removal of radiocobalt ions from radioactive wastewater. The results demonstrated that the sorption of Co(II) was strongly dependent on pH and ionic strength at low pH values, and independent of pH and ionic strength at high pH values. The sorption of Co(II) was dominated by outer-sphere surface complexation or ion exchange at low pH values, whereas inner-sphere surface complexation was the main sorption mechanism at high pH values. The sorption isotherms were well described by Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin–Radushkevich models. The thermodynamic parameters (i.e., ΔG°, ΔS°, ΔH°) calculated from the temperature-dependent sorption isotherms indicated that the sorption of Co(II) on kaolinite was an endothermic and spontaneous process. The results of high sorption capacity of kaolinite suggested that the kaolinite sample was a suitable material for the preconcentration of Co(II) from large volumes of aqueous solutions and as backfill materials in nuclear waste management.  相似文献

Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) have attracted intense multidisciplinary study because of their special physicochemical properties. In this paper, the effect of solid content, contact time, pH, temperature and humic acid on radionuclide (60Co(II)) on MWCNTs was studied by using batch technique. The results indicate that the sorption of Co(II) on MWCNTs can achieve sorption equilibration in short time and the kinetic sorption can be described by pseudo-second-order model well. The sorption of Co(II) on MWCNTs is strongly dependent on pH and independent of ionic strength, suggesting that the sorption of Co(II) on MWCNTs is mainly dominated by inner-sphere surface complexation rather than by outer-sphere surface complexation or ion exchange. The thermodynamic parameters calculated from the temperature-dependent sorption isotherms indicate that the sorption of Co(II) on MWCNTs was an endothermic and spontaneous process. The results of high sorption capacity of Co(II) suggest that MWCNTs can be used as efficient materials for the preconcentration of radiocobalt from large volumes of aqueous solutions in radionuclide polluted water.  相似文献

In this study, the sorption of U(VI) from aqueous solution on Mg2Al layered double hydroxide (Mg2Al LDH) was studied as a function of various water quality parameters such as contact time, pH, ionic strength, soil fulvic acid (FA), solid content and temperature by using a batch technique. The sorption of U(VI) on Mg2Al LDH was dependent on pH. The presence of FA increased U(VI) sorption at low pH, whereas decreased U(VI) sorption at high pH. Both kinetics and thermodynamic parameters of the sorption process were evaluated. It was found that the pseudo-second-order model was more suitable for our experiment. The Langmuir model fitted the sorption isotherms of U(VI) better than the Freundlich and D-R model at three different temperatures of 298, 303 and 313 K. The thermodynamic parameters (ΔH°, ΔS°, and ΔG°) were calculated from the temperature dependent sorption isotherms, and the results suggested that U(VI) sorption was a spontaneous and endothermic process. The results demonstrate that Mg2Al LDH is a promising sorbent material for the preconcentration and separation of uranium pollution from large volumes of aqueous solutions.  相似文献

Attapulgite has been applied in the sorption of metal and radionuclide ions since its discovery. Herein, radionuclide Am(III) sorption onto attapulgite was carried out at 25 °C in 0.01 mol/L NaNO3 solutions. Effects of contact time, Am(III) initial concentration, pH, humic acid and temperature on Am(III) sorption onto attapulgite were investigated. The sorption of Am(III) increases with increasing contact time and reaches a maximum value within 24 h at different Am(III) initial concentration. The fast sorption velocity indicates that strong chemical sorption or strong surface complexation contributes to the sorption of Am(III) onto attapulgite under the experimental conditions. The experimental data can be described well by the pseudo-second-order rate model. The sorption of Am(III) onto attapulgite is strongly dependent on pH values and surface complexation is the main sorption mechanism. The presence of HA enhances the sorption of Am(III) onto attapulgite at pH < 8.5, whereas, at pH > 8.5, little effect of HA on Am(III) sorption is observed. The Langmuir, Freundlich and D-R models were used to simulate the sorption data at different pH values and the results indicated that Langmuir model simulates the experimental data better than Freundlich and D-R models. The thermodynamic parameters indicates that the sorption of Am(III) onto attapulgite is an endothermic and spontaneous process. The results suggest that the attapulgite is a suitable material as an adsorbent for preconcentration and immobilization of Am(III) from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

New fluoroplastic sorbents were proposed for the preconcentration of naphthalene, biphenyl, and acenaphthene from aqueous solutions. The kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were determined for the sorption of naphthalene, biphenyl, and acenaphthene on the F-2M, F-40P, and F-4AN sorbents. The optimum conditions for the extraction of compounds were calculated, and the desorption conditions were found.  相似文献

The sorption of Co(II) on Na-attapulgite as a function of contact time, solid content, pH, ionic strength, foreign ions, fulvic acid (FA) and temperature under ambient conditions was studied. The kinetic of Co(II) sorption on Na-attapulgite was described well by pseudo-second-order model. The sorption of Co(II) on Na-attapulgite was strongly dependent on pH and ionic strength. The sorption of Co(II) was mainly dominated by outer-sphere surface complexation and/or ion exchange at low pH, whereas inner-sphere surface complexation or surface precipitation was the main sorption mechanism at high pH values. The presence of FA did not affect Co(II) sorption obviously at pH <7, and a negative effect was observed at pH >7. The Langmuir and Freundlich models were used to simulate the sorption data at different temperatures, and the results indicated that the Langmuir model simulated the data better than the Freundlich isotherm model. The thermodynamic parameters (∆G°, ∆S°, ∆H°) calculated from the temperature-dependent sorption isotherms indicated that the sorption of Co(II) on Na-attapulgite was an endothermic and spontaneous process. The results suggest that the attapulgite sample is a suitable material in the preconcentration and solidification of radiocobalt from large volumes of aqueous solutions.  相似文献

The sorption of radionuclide 63Ni(II) on bentonite/iron oxide magnetic composites was investigated by batch technique under ambient conditions. The effect of contact time, solid content, pH, coexistent electrolyte ions, fulvic acid, and temperature on Ni(II) sorption to bentonite/iron oxide magnetic composites was examined. The results demonstrated that the sorption of Ni(II) was strongly dependent on pH and ionic strength at pH <8.0, and was independent of pH and ionic strength at high pH values. The sorption of Ni(II) was dominated by outer-sphere surface complexation or ion exchange at low pH, whereas inner-sphere surface complexation was the main sorption mechanism at high pH. The experimental data were well fitted by Langmuir model. The thermodynamic parameters (∆G°, ∆S°, ∆H°) calculated from the temperature-dependent sorption isotherms indicated that the sorption of Ni(II) on bentonite/iron oxide magnetic composites was an endothermic and spontaneous processes. The results show that bentonite/iron oxide magnetic composites are promising magnetic materials for the preconcentration and separation of radionickel from aqueous solutions in environmental pollution.  相似文献

The kinetics of the sorption of aromatic amines such as o-aminophenol (o-AP), o-phenylenediamine (o-PDA), and p-phenylenediamine (p-PDA) onto Amberlite anion-exchange resin in chloride form was investigated in batch experiments spectrophotometrically at different temperatures. The sorption rate is zero order in all amines sorbed, increasing directly in the order: p-PDA相似文献

Sorption of U(VI) from aqueous solution to Na-attapulgite was investigated at different experimental chemistry conditions by using batch technique. The attapulgite sample was characterized by FTIR and XRD. Sorption of U(VI) on attapulgite was strongly dependent on pH and ionic strength. The sorption of U(VI) on attapulgite increased quickly with rising pH at pH < 6, and decreased with increasing pH at pH > 7. The presence of humic acid (HA) enhanced the sorption of U(VI) on attapulgite obviously at low pH because of the strong complexation of surface adsorbed HA with U(VI) on attapulgite surface. Sorption of U(VI) on attapulgite was mainly dominated by ion exchange and/or outer-sphere surface complexation at low pH values, whereas the sorption was attributed to the inner-sphere surface complexation or precipitation at high pH values. The sorption increased with increasing temperature and the thermodynamic parameters calculated from the temperature dependent sorption isotherms suggested that the sorption of U(VI) on attapulgite was a spontaneous and endothermic process. The results indicate that attapulgite is a very suitable material for the preconcentration of U(VI) ions from large volumes of aqueous solutions.  相似文献

The retention profile of uranyl ions from aqueous thiocyanate media by polyether-type based polyurethane foams (PUFs) has been studied to gain more information regarding the mechanism of extraction. The effect of pH, shaking time, surfactant type, extraction media, temperature and analyte concentration on the retention of uranyl ions onto PUFs has been studied. It has been found that, the sorption of uranyl ions involved in the formation of a ternary complex ion associate of uranyl ion, thiocyanate and PUFs is highly dependent on these parameters. The kinetics and thermodynamics of the uranyl ions sorption have been studied in more detail. The dependency of the extraction on the parameters can be explained via a “solvent extraction,” mechanism. However, owing to the complex nature of the PUFs a dual-mode sorption mechanism involving both absorptions related to “solvent extraction” and an added component for “surface adsorption” may be operated simultaneously. Attempts for quantitative retention and recovery of the uranyl ions in tap and industrial waste water samples by the proposed PUFs columns has been carried out and satisfactory results have been obtained. The cellular structure of the PUF sorbent offer unique advantages over a conventional bulk type sorbents in rapid, versatile effective separation and/or preconcentration of uranyl ions.  相似文献

The development of nuclear power releases large amounts of radionuclides into the natural environment. Herein, the sorption of radionuclide 63Ni on bentonite from Gaomiaozi county (Inner Mongolia, China) at different experimental conditions such as pH, contact time, ionic strength, foreign cations and anions, and temperatures were investigated by using batch technique. The results indicated that the sorption of 63Ni on the bentonite was quickly at first contact time and then increased slowly with increasing contact time. The sorption of 63Ni was strongly dependent on ionic strength at low pH values and independent of ionic strength at high pH values. The sorption of 63Ni on bentonite was mainly dominated by outer-sphere surface complexation or ion exchange at low pH values, whereas inner-sphere surface complexation was the main sorption mechanism at high pH values. The Langmuir, Freundlich, and D–R models were applied to simulate the sorption isotherms of 63Ni at three different temperatures, and the thermodynamic parameters (i.e., ΔH°, ΔS° and ΔG°) calculated from the temperature-dependent sorption isotherms indicated that the sorption of 63Ni on bentonite was an endothermic and spontaneous process. Experimental results indicate that the bentonite is a suitable material for the preconcentration and solidification of 63Ni from large volume of solutions in radionickel pollution cleanup.  相似文献

In this paper, the sorption of Co(II) from aqueous solution to Ca-montmorillonite was studied under ambient conditions by using batch technique. The effects of contact time, solid content, pH, ionic strength and temperature on the sorption of Co(II) to Ca-montmorillonite was also investigated. The results indicated that the sorption of Co(II) was strongly dependent on pH values. The sorption was dependent on ionic strength at low pH values, but independent of ionic strength at high pH values. Outer-sphere surface complexes were formed on the surface of Ca-montmorillonite at low pH values, whereas inner-sphere surface complexes were formed at high pH values. The Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin–Radushkevich (D–R) models were used to simulate the sorption isotherms of Co(II) at three different temperatures. The thermodynamic parameters (ΔH 0, ΔS 0 and ΔG 0) were calculated from the temperature dependent sorption isotherms, and the results indicated that the sorption reaction of Co(II) to Ca-montmorillonite was an endothermic and spontaneous process. The high sorption capacity of Co(II) on Ca-montmorillonite suggests that the Ca-montmorillonite is a suitable material for the preconcentration and solidification of radiocobalt from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

Oxidized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were characterized by SEM and FTIR. The sorption of Th(IV) on MWCNTs was studied as a function of contact time, pH, ionic strength, Th(IV) concentration and temperature. The results indicate that the sorption of Th(IV) on MWCNTs is strongly dependent on pH and weakly dependent on ionic strength. The sorption thermodynamics of Th(IV) on MWCNTs was carried out at 293.15, 313.15 and 333.15 K, respectively, and the thermodynamic parameters (standard free energy changes (??G 0), standard enthalpy change (??H 0) and standard entropy change (??S 0)) were calculated from the temperature dependent sorption isotherms. The sorption of Th(IV) on MWCNTs is a spontaneous and endothermic process. The oxidized MWCNTs may be a promising candidate for the preconcentration and solidification of Th(IV), or its analogue actinides from large volumes of aqueous solutions.  相似文献

The sorption kinetics and thermodynamics of 1,3-dinitrobenzene (DNB), m-nitrotoluene (mNT), p-nitrophenol (pNP), and nitrobenzene (NB) on as-grown and nitric acid-oxidized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were investigated. The sorption kinetics was well described by a pseudo-second-order rate model, while both Langmuir and Freundlich models described the sorption isotherms well and the sorption thermodynamic parameters of equilibrium constant (K(0)), standard free energy (DeltaG), standard enthalpy (DeltaH), and standard entropy changes (DeltaS) were measured. The values of DeltaH and DeltaG suggested that the sorption of nitroaromatics (NACs) onto MWCNTs was exothermic and spontaneous. The structure, number, and position of nitro groups of NACs were the main factors affecting the sorption rate and capacity. Treatment of the MWCNTs with nitric acid increased both the surface area and the pore volume and introduced oxygen-containing functional groups to the MWCNTs, which depressed the sorption of NACs onto MWCNTs.  相似文献

The interaction of U(VI) with Na-attapulgite was studied by using batch technique at different experimental conditions. The effect of contact time, solid content, pH, ionic strength and temperature on the sorption of U(VI) onto Na-attapulgite in the presence and absence of humic acid was also investigated. The results showed that the sorption of U(VI) on Na-attapulgite achieved sorption equilibrium quickly. Sorption of U(VI) on Na-attapulgite increased quickly with increasing pH at pH < 6.5, and then decreased with pH increasing at pH > 6.5. The sorption curves were shifted to left in low NaClO4 solutions as compared those in high NaClO4 solutions. The sorption was strongly dependent on pH and ionic strength. The sorption was dominated by ion exchange or outer-sphere surface complexation at low pH values, and by inner-sphere surface complexation or surface precipitation at high pH values. The thermodynamic parameters (i.e., ΔH 0, ΔS 0, and ΔG 0) for the sorption of U(VI) were calculated from the temperature dependent sorption isotherms, and the results suggested that the sorption reaction was an endothermic and spontaneous process. The Na-attapulgite is a suitable material in the removal and preconcentration of U(VI) from large volumes of aqueous solutions in nuclear waste management.  相似文献

Herein, hydroxyapatite (HAP) was prepared by aqueous precipitation technique and was characterized by using FT-IR and XRD to determine its chemical functional groups and micro-structure. The removal of cobalt from aqueous solution to HAP was studied by batch technique as a function of various environmental parameters such as contact time, pH, ionic strength, foreign ions, fulvic acid (FA), and temperature under ambient conditions. The results indicated that the sorption of Co(II) on HAP was strongly dependent on pH and ionic strength. The presence of FA enhanced the sorption of Co(II) on HAP at low pH, whereas reduced Co(II) sorption on HAP at high pH. The Langmuir, Freundlich and D-R models were used to simulate the sorption isotherms at three different temperatures of 303.15, 323.15 and 343.15 K. The thermodynamic parameters (ΔH°, ΔS° and ΔG°) calculated from the temperature dependent sorption isotherms indicated that the sorption process of Co(II) on HAP was spontaneous and endothermic. The sorption of Co(II) was dominated by outer-sphere surface complexation and ion exchange at low pH, whereas inner-sphere surface complexation or surface precipitation was the main sorption mechanism at high pH values. The results suggest that the HAP is a suitable material in the preconcentration and solidification of Co(II) from large volumes of aqueous solutions.  相似文献

A very stable chelating resin was prepared by adsorption of (o-[3,6-disulfo-2-hidroxy-1-naphthylazo]-benzenearsonic acid) (thorin) on a macroporous resin Amberlite XAD-7. The optimal conditions for preparing it were obtained through the study of the adsorption properties of the resin and the thermodynamic quantities of the adsorption processes. Likewise, the behavior of the loaded resin with the rare earth elements (REE) were studied (pH of retention, sorption kinetics, etc). The conditions to prepare a thin film with this system were also evaluated. The loaded resin was successfully used for the separation and preconcentration of Sm(III), Eu(III) and Gd(III) prior to their determination by X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometry. The preconcentration factor obtained was 500 and the concentrations at low detection limit were 13.8, 17 and 15.7 microg l(-1) for Sm, Eu and Gd, respectively.  相似文献

Graphene oxide nanosheets have attracted multidisciplinary attention due to their unique physicochemical properties. Herein, few-layered graphene oxide nanosheets were synthesized from graphite using a modified Hummers method and were characterized by TEM, AFM, Raman spectroscopy, XPS, FTIR spectroscopy, TG-DTA and acid-base titrations. The prepared few-layered graphene oxide nanosheets were used as adsorbents for the preconcentration of U(VI) ions from large volumes of aqueous solutions as a function of pH, ionic strength and temperature. The sorption of U(VI) ions on the graphene oxide nanosheets was strongly dependent on pH and independent of the ionic strength, indicating that the sorption was mainly dominated by inner-sphere surface complexation rather than by outer-sphere surface complexation or ion exchange. The abundant oxygen-containing functional groups on the surfaces of the graphene oxide nanosheets played an important role in U(VI) sorption. The sorption of U(VI) on graphene oxide nanosheets increased with an increase in temperature and the thermodynamic parameters calculated from the temperature-dependent sorption isotherms suggested that the sorption of U(vi) on graphene oxide nanosheets was an endothermic and spontaneous process. The maximum sorption capacities (Q(max)) of U(VI) at pH 5.0 ± 0.1 and T = 20 °C was 97.5 mg g(-1), which was much higher than any of the currently reported nanomaterials. The graphene oxide nanosheets may be suitable materials for the removal and preconcentration of U(VI) ions from large volumes of aqueous solutions, for example, U(VI) polluted wastewater, if they can be synthesized in a cost-effective manner on a large scale in the future.  相似文献
