Polymer electrolyte films of biodegradable poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) doped with LiSCN salt in different weight ratios were prepared using solution cast technique. The effect of crystallinity and interaction between lithium ions and carbonyl groups of PCL on the ionic conduction of PCL:LiSCN polymer electrolytes was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and AC impedance analysis. The XRD results revealed that the crystallinity of the PCL polymer matrix decreased with an increase in LiSCN salt concentration. The complexation of the salt with the polymer and the interaction of lithium ions with carbonyl groups of PCL were confirmed by FTIR. The ionic conductivity was found to increase with increasing salt concentration until 15 wt% and then to decrease with further increasing salt concentration. In addition, the ionic conductivity of the polymer electrolyte films followed an Arrhenius relation and the activation energy for conduction decreased with increasing LiSCN concentration up to 15 wt%. UV–vis absorption spectra were used to evaluate the optical energy band gaps of the materials. The optical energy band gap shifted to lower energies with increasing LiSCN salt concentration.  相似文献

Proton-conducting solid polymer blend electrolytes based on methylcellulose-polyvinyl alcohol:ammonium nitrate (MC-PVA:NH4NO3) were prepared by the solution cast technique. The structural and electrical properties of the samples were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and electrical impedance (EI) spectroscopy. The shifting and change in the intensity of FTIR bands of the electrolyte samples confirm the complex formation between the MC-PVA polymer blend and the NH4NO3 added salt. The observed broadening in the XRD pattern of the doped samples reveals the increase of the amorphous fraction of polymer electrolyte samples. The increase in electrical conductivity of polymer electrolyte samples with increasing salt concentration attributed to the formation of charge-transfer complexes, and to increase in the amorphous domains. A maximum ionic conductivity of about 7.39 × 10?5 S cm?1 was achieved at room temperature for the sample incorporating 20 wt% of NH4NO3. The DC conductivity of the present polymer system exhibits Arrhenius-type dependence with temperature. The decrease in the values of activation energies with increasing salt concentration indicates the ease mobility of ions. The decrease in dielectric constant with increasing frequency was observed at all temperatures. Optical properties such as absorption edge, optical band gap, and tail of localized state were estimated for polymer blend and their electrolyte films. It was found that the optical band gap values shifted towards lower photon energy from 6.06 to 4.75 eV by altering the NH4NO3 salt content.  相似文献

The development of magnesium electrolytes for battery applications has been the demand for electrochemical devices. To meet such demand, in this work solid blend polymer electrolytes were prepared using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyacrylonitrile (PAN) (92.5PVA:7.5PAN) as host polymer, magnesium chloride (MgCl2) of different molar mass percentage (m.m.%) (0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, and 0.6%) as salt and dimethylformamide (DMF) as solvent. Structural, vibrational, thermal, electrical, and electrochemical properties of the prepared electrolytes were investigated using different techniques such as X-ray diffraction pattern, FTIR spectroscopy analysis, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), AC impedance measurement, and transference number measurement. X-ray diffraction studies confirm the minimum volume fraction of crystalline phase for the polymer electrolyte with 0.5 m.m.% of MgCl2. FTIR confirms the complex formation between host polymer and salt. DSC analysis proves the thermal transition of the prepared films are affected by salt concentration. The optimized material with 0.5 m.m.% of MgCl2 offers a maximum electrical conductivity of 1.01 × 10?3 S cm?1 at room temperature. The Mg2+ ion conduction in the blend polymer electrolyte is confirmed from transference number measurement. Electrochemical analysis demonstrates the promising characteristic of these polymer films suitable as electrolytes for primary magnesium batteries. Output potential and discharge characteristics have been analyzed for primary magnesium battery which is constructed using optimized conducting electrolyte.  相似文献

Polymer blended films of polyethylene oxide (PEO)?+?polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP):lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) embedded with silver (Ag) nanofiller in different concentrations have been synthesized by a solution casting method. The semi-crystalline nature of these polymer films has been confirmed from their X-ray diffraction (XRD) profiles. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and Raman analysis confirmed the complex formation of the polymer with dopant ions. Dispersed Ag nanofiller size evaluation study has been done using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis. It was observed that the conductivity increases when increasing the Ag nanofiller concentration. On the addition of Ag nanofiller to the polyethylene oxide (PEO)?+?polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP):Li+ electrolyte system, it was found to result in the enhancement of ionic conductivity. The maximum ionic conductivity has been set up to be 1.14?×?10?5 S cm?1 at the optimized concentration of 4 wt% Ag nanofiller-embedded (45 wt%) polyethylene oxide (PEO)?+?(45 wt%) polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP):(10 wt%) Li+ polymer electrolyte nanocomposite at room temperature. Polyethylene oxide (PEO)?+?polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP):Li+ +Ag nanofiller (4 wt%) cell exhibited better performance in terms of cell parameters. This is ascribed to the presence of flexible matrix and high ionic conductivity. The applicability of the present 4 wt% Ag nanofiller-dispersed polyethylene oxide (PEO)?+?polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP):Li+ polymer electrolyte system could be suggested as a potential candidate for solid-state battery applications. A solid polymer electrolyte (SPE) composites consisting blend of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) as the polymer host with LiCF3SO3 as a Li+ cation salt and TiO2 nanoparticle which acts as a filler were prepared using solution-casting technique. The SPE films were characterized by X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared analysis to ensure complexation of the polymer composites. Frequency-dependent impedance spectroscopy observation was used to determine ionic conductivity and dielectric parameters. Ionic conductivity was found to vary with increasing salt and filler particle concentrations in the polymer blend complexes. The optimum ambient temperature conductivity achieved was 2.66?×?10?4?S?cm?1 for PEO (65 %), PEG (15 %), LiCF3SO3 (15 %), ethylene carbonate (5 %), and TiO2 (3 %) using weight percentage. The dielectric relaxation time obtained from a loss tangent plot is fairly consistent with the conductivity studies. Both Arrhenius and VTF behaviors of all the composites confirm that the conductivity mechanism of the solid polymer electrolyte is thermally activated.  相似文献

Polymer electrolyte based on PVA doped with different concentrations of NH4Br has been prepared by solution casting technique. The complexation of the prepared polymer electrolytes has been studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infra red (FTIR) spectroscopy. The maximum ionic conductivity (5.7×10−4 S cm−1) has been obtained for 25 mol% NH4Br-doped PVA polymer electrolyte. The temperature dependence of ionic conductivity of the prepared polymer electrolytes obeys Arrhenius law. The ionic transference number of mobile ions has been estimated by dc polarization method and the results reveal that the conducting species are predominantly ions. The dielectric behavior of the polymer electrolytes has been analyzed using dielectric permittivity and electric modulus spectra.  相似文献

Solid polymer electrolytes based on high molecular weight poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) complexed with lithium difluoro(oxalato)borate (LiDFOB) salt in various EO:Li molar ratios from 30:1 to 8:1 were prepared by using solution casting technique. Ion–polymer interaction, structural, thermal, and ionic conductivity studies have been reported by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), polarized optical microscopy (POM), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and impedance analysis. FTIR spectral studies suggested that the interaction of Li+ cations with the ether oxygen of PEO, where a triple peak broad band centered at 1105 cm?1, corresponds to C–O–C stretching and extreme deformation occurs. XRD, POM, and DSC indicated that the inclusion of LiDFOB salt could reduce the crystallinity of PEO. The melting temperature of PEO shifted to lower temperature side by the addition of LiDFOB. The glass transition temperature obtained for the system 10:1 was ?38.2 °C. An increase in the ionic conductivity from 3.95?×?10?9 to 3.18?×?10?5 S/cm at room temperature (23 °C) was obtained through the addition of LiDFOB to a high molecular weight PEO. In addition, the ionic conductivity of the polymer electrolyte films followed an Arrhenius relation, and the activation energy decreased with increasing LiDFOB concentration.  相似文献

Biodegradable polymer electrolyte films based on poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) in conjunction with lithium tetrafluoroborate (LiBF4) salt and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (EMIMBF4) ionic liquid were prepared by solution cast technique. The structural, morphological, thermal, and electrical properties of these films were examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical microscopy (OM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and impedance spectroscopy. The XRD and OM results reveal that the pure PCL possesses a semi-crystalline nature and its degree of crystallinity decreases with the addition of LiBF4 salt and EMIMBF4 ionic liquid. DSC analysis indicates that the melting temperature and enthalpy are apparently lower for the 40 wt% EMIMBF4 gel polymer electrolyte as compared with the others. The ambient temperature electrical conductivity increases with increasing EMIMBF4 concentration and reaches a high value of ~2.83?×?10?4 S cm?1 for the 85 PCL:15 LiBF4 + 40 wt% EMIMBF4 gel polymer electrolyte. The dielectric constant and ionic conductivity follow the same trend with increasing EMIMBF4 concentration. The dominant conducting species in the 40 wt% EMIMBF4 gel polymer electrolyte determined by Wagner’s polarization technique are ions. The ionic conductivity of this polymer electrolyte (~2.83?×?10?4 S cm?1) should be high enough for practical applications.  相似文献

Sodium ion conducting polymer blend electrolyte films, based on polyethylene oxide (PEO) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) complexed with NaF salt, were prepared using solution casting technique. The complexation of the salt with the polymer blend was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and UV-vis spectroscopy. Electrical conductivity of the films was measured with impedance analyzer in the frequency range of 1 Hz to 1 MHz and in the temperature range of 303-348 K. It was observed that the magnitude of conductivity increased with the increase in the salt concentration as well as the temperature. UV-vis absorption spectra in wavelength region of 200-800 nm were used to evaluate the optical properties like direct and indirect optical energy band gaps, optical absorption edge. The optical band gaps decreased with the increase in Na+ ion concentration. This suggests that NaF, as a dopant, is a good choice to improve the electrical properties of PEO/PVP polymer blend electrolytes.  相似文献

Thin films of blend polymer electrolytes comprising poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) complexed with ammonium thiocyanate (NH4SCN) salt in different compositions have been prepared by solution casting technique using distilled water as solvent. The prepared films have been investigated by different experimental techniques. The complexation of these films has been studied by FTIR spectroscopy. The increase in amorphousness of the films with increase in NH4SCN content has been confirmed by XRD analysis. The addition of ammonium thiocyanate salt to PVA-PVP polymer blend shows a shift in Tg of the blend. The effect of salt concentration and temperature on the ionic conductivity of the polymer blend films has been analyzed using AC impedance spectroscopy. The maximum conductivity of 6.85 × 10?4 S cm?1 at room temperature has been observed for the blend with 50 mol% PVA-50 mol% PVP complexed with 40 mol% NH4SCN. The activation energy has been found to be minimum (0.24 eV) for this sample. Wagner’s polarization technique shows that the charge transport in these blend films is predominantly due to ions. Using the highest conductivity blend polymer electrolyte, a proton battery has been fabricated and its discharge characteristics have been studied.  相似文献

Structural, thermal, electrical and electrochemical behaviour of polymer blend electrolytes comprising polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) as host polymers and Mg(ClO4)2 as dopant salt have been investigated. The changes in the structural properties on the incorporation of dopant in the blends were investigated by XRD and FTIR analyses. Thermal properties of pure PVA–PVP blend and their complexes were examined by DSC to measure how the thermal transitions of the prepared films were affected by different concentration of Mg(ClO4)2. The ionic conductivity and dielectric behaviour were explored using A.C. impedance spectroscopy. The trend of ionic conductivity increases almost proportionally to the content of magnesium salt and can be related to an increase of amorphous phase at high level of dopant salt. The electrochemical stability of the optimum conducting blend polymer electrolyte is found to be ~3.5 V. The Mg2+ transference number for the sample with optimized conductivity was found to be 0.31.  相似文献

Polymer electrolytes comprising polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) as host polymer and Mg(ClO4)2 as dopant salt have been prepared by solution casting technique using double-distilled water as solvent. The changes in the structural properties on the incorporation of dopant were investigated by XRD and FTIR analysis. The ionic conductivity and dielectric behavior were explored using AC impedance spectroscopy. The ionic conductivity increases with increasing dopant concentration. The conductivity enhancement with the increasing salt concentration is correlated with the increase in amorphous nature of the electrolytes. The frequency dependence of electrical conductivity obeys the universal Jonscher power law. The electrical modulus representation shows a loss feature in the imaginary component. The distribution of relaxation times was indicated by a deformed arc form of the Argand plot. The relative dielectric constant (ε r ) decreases with increase in frequency in the low frequency region whereas a frequency-independent behavior is observed in the high frequency region. The total ionic transference number studies have confirmed that the mobile charge carriers are ions. Results obtained by cyclic voltammetry on SS/60 mol% PVP/40 mol% Mg(ClO4)2 SPE/SS symmetrical cell show evidence for reversibility.

An attempt has been made to prepare a new proton-conducting polymer electrolyte based on poly(vinyl alcohol) doped with ammonium fluoride (NH4F) by solution casting technique. The complex formation between polymer and dissociated salt has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy studies. The highest ionic conductivity has been found to be 6.9?×?10?6?Scm?1 at ambient temperature (303 K) for 85PVA:15NH4F polymer electrolyte. The conductance spectra contain a low frequency plateau region and high frequency dispersion region. The dielectric spectra exhibit the low frequency dispersion, which is due to space charge accumulation at the electrode–electrolyte interface. The modulus spectra indicate non-Debye nature of the material. The highest ionic conductivity polymer electrolyte 85PVA:15NH4F has low activation energy 0.2 eV among the prepared polymer electrolytes.  相似文献

A biodegradable solid polymer blend electrolyte was prepared by using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) polymers with different molecular weight percentages (wt.%) of ammonium acetate, and its structural, thermal, vibrational, and electrical properties were evaluated. The polymer blend electrolyte is prepared using solution casting technique, with water as a solvent. X-ray diffraction shows that the incorporation of ammonium acetate into the polymeric matrix causes decrease in the crystallinity degree of the samples. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and laser Raman studies confirm the complex formation between the polymer and salt. Differential scanning calorimerty shows that the thermal stability of the polymer blend electrolyte and the glass transition temperature decreased as the concentration of ammonium acetate increased. The ionic conductivity of the prepared polymer electrolyte was found by AC impedance spectroscopic analysis. A maximum conductivity of 8.12?×?10?5 Scm?1 was observed for the composition of 50 PVA/50 PVP/30 wt.% of CH3COONH4.  相似文献

Structural and ionic conductivity of PEO blend PEG with KI solid polymer electrolyte system is presented. The polymer PEG showed miscible with the high molecular weight polymer PEO. The X-ray diffraction patterns of PEO/PEG with KI salt indicated the decrease in the degree of crystallinity with increasing concentration of the salt. The DSC measurements of PEO/PEG:KI polymer electrolyte system showed that the melting temperature is shifted towards the lower temperature with increase of the salt concentration. Optical micrographs demonstrated that the spherulites of different sizes are present along with dark regions between the spherulites for lower salt compositions. With increase of salt concentration more amorphous regions are observed. The significance of blend is the increase of one order in ionic conductivity when compared to without blend PEO electrolyte.  相似文献

Polymer blend electrolytes based on poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP) were prepared by using different lithium salts LiX (X = ClO4, BF4, CF3SO3, and N [CF3SO2]2) using solution casting technique. To confirm the structure and complexation of the electrolyte films, the prepared electrolytes were subjected to X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis. Alternating current (AC) impedance analysis was performed for all the electrolyte samples at various temperatures from 303 to 343 K. The result suggests that among the various lithium salts, LiN[CF3SO2]2-based electrolytes exhibited the highest ionic conductivity at 8.20 × 10?4 S/cm. The linear variation of the ionic conductivity of the polymer electrolytes with increasing temperature suggests the Arrhenius-type thermally activated process. Activation energies were found to decrease when doping with lithium imide salt. The dielectric behavior has been analyzed using dielectric permittivity (ε*), electric modulus (M*), and dissipation factor (tanδ) of the samples. Cyclic voltammetry has been performed for the electrolyte films to study their cyclability and reversibility. Thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG/DTA) was used to ascertain the thermal stability of the electrolytes, and the porous nature of the electrolytes was identified using scanning electron microscopy via ion hopping conduction. Surface morphology of the sample having maximum conductivity was studied by an atomic force microscope (AFM).  相似文献

An attempt has been made to synthesise a new proton conducting polymer electrolyte using the biopolymer dextrin doped with ammonium thiocyanate salts using solution casting technique. The complexation has been studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) thermograms of dextrin with NH4SCN showed that Tg value increases with respect to the increase of NH4SCN concentration. The electrical conductivity was measured using AC impedance analyser which showed that ionic conductivity increases with increase in salt concentration up to 40%. Transference number measurement was carried out to investigate the nature of the charge transport species in the polymer electrolyte. Surface morphology of the electrolytes was determined using scanning electron microscope (SEM) studies, and the chemical composition of the elements present was determined using EDAX. The proton battery was constructed with the highest conducting polymer electrolyte Dex-40%NH4SCN and its open circuit voltage with load were carried out.  相似文献

The polyvinylidene difluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene (PVdF-HFP) nanocomposite solid polymer electrolyte films were developed by solution-casting method. PVdF-HFP as a polymer host, lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) as a salt for lithium ion, and ZnO nanoparticles as fillers were used to form the nanocomposite solid polymer electrolyte films. All the prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry, and scanning electron microscopy. The XRD patterns of the pure and nanocomposite solid polymer electrolyte samples indicate the formation of amorphous phase with 17.5 wt.% of lithium salt and ZnO fillers up to 3 wt.%. The total conductivity and lithium ion transference number were studied at room temperature by using impedance spectroscopy and Wagner’s polarization methods. The highest conductivity at room temperature for solid polymer electrolyte and nanocomposite solid polymer electrolyte are found to be 3.208?×?10?4 and 1.043?×?10?3 S/cm, respectively. Similarly, the lithium ion transference number is evaluated for the optimized solid polymer electrolyte and nanocomposite solid polymer electrolyte films with 3 wt.% of ZnO fillers. And it is found that ionic transference number could be enhanced from 92 to 95 % with the addition of nanosized ZnO fillers to the solid polymer electrolyte.  相似文献

Polymer electrolytes composed of hexanoyl chitosan as the host polymer, lithium trifluoromethanesulfonate (LiCF3SO3) as the salt, diethyl carbonate (DEC)/ethylene carbonate (EC) as the plasticizers were prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction and impedance spectroscopy. The X-ray diffraction results reveal the variation in conductivity from structural aspect. This is reflected in terms of amorphous content. Sample with higher amorphous content exhibits higher conductivity. In order to further understand the source of the conductivity variation with varying plasticizers compositions as well as temperatures, the ionic charge carrier concentration and their mobility in polymer electrolyte were determined. The Rice and Roth model was proposed to be used to estimate the ionic charge carrier concentration, n. Knowing n and combining the result with dc conductivity, the mobility of the ionic charge carrier can be calculated. It is found that the conductivity change with DEC/EC composition is due mainly to the change in ionic charge carrier concentration while the conductivity change with temperature is due primarily to the change in mobility.  相似文献

Solid polymer electrolyte thin films based on polyacrylamide-co-acrylic acid (PAAC) doped with sodium iodide (NaI) with different ratios of polymer and salt added with fixed amount of additive of propylene carbonate (PC) were prepared by using solution casting method. The PC was added to the mixture of the solution to provide more flexibility to the polymer film by increasing the plasticity of the thin film membrane. The conductivity and dielectric studies were carried out on these thin films to understand the ion transport properties of the polymer electrolytes. The highest conductivity obtained was 1.88?×?10?5 S cm?1 for the 30% NaI salt-doped polymer electrolyte system at room temperature. The temperature-dependent conductivity agrees with Arrhenius relationship which shows that hopping mechanism of ions in the polymer matrix. The dielectric properties especially the loss tangent used to analyze the segmental relaxation of the polymer chain as more concentration of salt was incorporated. The electric modulus was studied to understand the electrical relaxation processes to overcome electrode polarization effect.  相似文献
