In this paper we consider the blow up phenomenon of critical nonlinear Schrödinger equations in dimension 1D and 2D. We define the minimal mass as the L2 norm necessary to ignite a wave collapse and we stress its role in the blow up mechanism. Asymptotic compactness properties and L2-concentration are proved. The proof relies on linear and nonlinear profile decompositions.  相似文献

This article addresses nonlinear wave equations with supercritical interior and boundary sources, and subject to interior and boundary damping. The presence of a nonlinear boundary source alone is known to pose a significant difficulty since the linear Neumann problem for the wave equation is not, in general, well‐posed in the finite‐energy space H1(Ω) × L2(?Ω) with boundary data in L2 due to the failure of the uniform Lopatinskii condition. Further challenges stem from the fact that both sources are non‐dissipative and are not locally Lipschitz operators from H1(Ω) into L2(Ω), or L2(?Ω). With some restrictions on the parameters in the model and with careful analysis involving the Nehari Manifold, we obtain global existence of a unique weak solution, and establish exponential and algebraic uniform decay rates of the finite energy (depending on the behavior of the dissipation terms). Moreover, we prove a blow up result for weak solutions with nonnegative initial energy.  相似文献

This article is concerned with explosive solutions of the initial-boundary problem for a class of nonlinear stochastic wave equations in a domain 𝒟 ? ? d . Under appropriate conditions on the initial data, the nonlinear term and the noise intensity, it is proved in Theorem 3.4 that there cannot exist a global solution and the local solution will blow up at a finite time in the mean L p  ? norm for p ≥ 1. An example is given to show the application of this theorem.  相似文献

We study the global Cauchy problem for the mass critical nonlinear Schrödinger equations. We prove the global existence of analytic solutions in both space and time variables for sufficiently small and exponentially decaying Cauchy data. The method of proof depends on the Leibniz rule for the generator of pseudo-conformal transforms at the L 2 critical level.  相似文献

In this article we investigate the possibility of finite time blow-up in H1(R2) for solutions to critical and supercritical nonlinear Schrödinger equations with an oscillating nonlinearity. We prove that despite the oscillations some solutions blow up in finite time. Conversely, we observe that for a given initial data oscillations can extend the local existence time of the corresponding solution.  相似文献

We consider the Cauchy problem for the system of semilinear damped wave equations with small initial data:
We show that a critical exponent which classifies the global existence and the finite time blow up of solutions indeed coincides with the one to a corresponding semilinear heat systems with small data. The proof of the global existence is based on the LpLq estimates of fundamental solutions for linear damped wave equations [K. We study numerical approximations of positive solutions of the porous medium equation with a nonlinear source, where m > 1, p > 0 and L > 0 are parameters. We describe in terms of p, m, and L when solutions of a semidiscretization in space exist globally in time and when they blow up in a finite time. We also find the blow‐up rates and the blow‐up sets, proving that there is no regional blow‐up for the numerical scheme. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We consider a class of degenerate parabolic equaitons on a bounded domain with mixed boundary conditions. These problems arise, for example, in the study of flow through porous media. Under appropriate hypotheses, we establish the existence of a nonegative solution which is obtainable as a monotone limit of solutions of quasilinear parabolic equations. This construction is used establish uniqueness, cinparison, and L1 continuous dependence theorems, as well some results on blow up of solutions in finite time  相似文献

This article is concerned with the analysis of the discontinuous Galerkin finite element method (DGFEM) applied to the space semidiscretization of a nonstationary convection–diffusion problem with nonlinear convection and nonlinear diffusion. Optimal estimates in the L (L 2)-norm are derived for the symmetric interior penalty (SIPG) scheme in two dimensions. The error analysis is carried out for nonconforming triangular meshes under the assumption that the exact solution of the problem and the solution of a linearized elliptic dual problem are sufficiently regular.  相似文献

In this article, we study finite volume element approximations for two‐dimensional parabolic integro‐differential equations, arising in the modeling of nonlocal reactive flows in porous media. These types of flows are also called NonFickian flows and exhibit mixing length growth. For simplicity, we consider only linear finite volume element methods, although higher‐order volume elements can be considered as well under this framework. It is proved that the finite volume element approximations derived are convergent with optimal order in H1‐ and L2‐norm and are superconvergent in a discrete H1‐norm. By examining the relationship between finite volume element and finite element approximations, we prove convergence in L‐ and W1,∞‐norms. These results are also new for finite volume element methods for elliptic and parabolic equations. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 16: 285–311, 2000  相似文献

The Cauchy problem for singularly perturbed parabolic equations is considered, and weighted L2-estimates as well as certain decay properties of bounded classical solutions to it are established. These do not depend on the value of the small perturbation parameter, and allow to prove global in time existence of strong solutions to certain boundary-value problems for ultraparabolic equations with unbounded coefficients. Optimal decay estimates are proved for such solutions. All results concerning ultraparabolic equations apply, in particular, to the Kolmogorov equation for diffusion with inertia, to the (linear) Fokker-Planck equation, to the linearized Boltzmann equation, and to some nonlinear integro-differential ultraparabolic equations of the Fokker-Planck type, arising from biophysics. Optimal decay estimates are derived for global in time strong solutions to such equations.  相似文献

We study the global regularity of classical solution to two‐and‐half‐dimensional magnetohydrodynamic equations with horizontal dissipation and horizontal magnetic diffusion. We prove that any possible finite time blow‐up can be controlled by the L‐norm of the vertical components. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The global existence of smooth solutions to a class of quasilinear fractional evolution equations is proved. The proofs are based on Lp(Lq) L^p(L^q) maximal regularity results for the corresponding linear equations.  相似文献

A high-order finite difference method for the two-dimensional coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations is considered. The proposed scheme is proved to preserve the total mass and energy in a discrete sense and the solvability of the scheme is shown by using a fixed point theorem. By converting the scheme in the point-wise form into a matrix–vector form, we use the standard energy method to establish the optimal error estimate of the proposed scheme in the discrete L2-norm. The convergence order is proved to be of a fourth-order in space and a second-order in time, respectively. Finally, some numerical examples are given in order to confirm our theoretical results for the numerical method. The numerical results are compared with exact solutions and other existing method. The comparison between our numerical results and those of Sun and Wangreveals that our method improves the accuracy of space and time directions.  相似文献

A nonlinear system of two coupled partial differential equations models miscible displacement of one incompressible fluid by another in a porous medium. A sequential implicit time‐stepping procedure is defined, in which the pressure and Darcy velocity of the mixture are approximated by a mixed finite element method and the concentration is approximated by a combination of a modified symmetric finite volume element method and the method of characteristics. Optimal order convergence in H1 and in L2 are proved for full discrete schemes. Finally, some numerical experiments are presented. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The incompressible miscible displacement problem in porous media is modeled by a coupled system of two nonlinear partial differential equations, the pressure‐velocity equation and the concentration equation. In this article, we present a mixed finite volume element method for the approximation of pressure‐velocity equation and a discontinuous Galerkin finite volume element method for the concentration equation. A priori error estimates in L(L2) are derived for velocity, pressure, and concentration. Numerical results are presented to substantiate the validity of the theoretical results. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2012  相似文献

We consider finite time blow up solutions to the critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation with initial condition u0 H1. Existence of such solutions is known, but the complete blow up dynamic is not understood so far. For initial data with negative energy, finite time blow up with a universal sharp upper bound on the blow up rate corresponding to the so-called log-log law has been proved in [10], [11]. We focus in this paper onto the positive energy case where at least two blow up speeds are known to possibly occur. We establish the stability in energy space H1 of the log-log upper bound exhibited in the negative energy case, and a sharp lower bound on blow up rate in the other regime which corresponds to known explicit blow up solutions.  相似文献

This paper utilizes the Picard method and Newton's method to linearize the stationary incompressible Navier–Stokes equations and then uses an LL* approach, which is a least-squares finite element method applied to the dual problem of the corresponding linear system. The LL* approach provides an L2-approximation to a given problem, which is not typically available with conventional finite element methods for nonlinear second-order partial differential equations. We first show that the proposed combination of linearization scheme and LL* approach provides an L2-approximation to the stationary incompressible Navier–Stokes equations. The validity of L2-approximation is proven through the analysis of the weak problem corresponding to the linearized Navier–Stokes equations. Then, the convergence is analyzed, and numerical results are presented.  相似文献

We analyze boundary value problems prescribing Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions for a nonlocal nonlinear diffusion operator which is analogous to the porous medium equation in a bounded smooth domain ΩRN with N≥1. First, we prove existence and uniqueness of solutions and the validity of a comparison principle for these problems. Next, we impose boundary data that blow up in finite time and study the behavior of the solutions.  相似文献
