A series of octahedral manganese(II) complexes involving xanthates and N-donor ligands, [Mn(S2COiBu)2(phen)] (1), [Mn(S2COiBu)2(2,2′-bpy)] (2), [Mn(S2COnPr)2(phen)] (3), [Mn(S2COnPr)2(2,2′-bpy)] (4), [Mn(S2COMe)2(2,2′-bpy)] (5), [Mn(S2COnPr)2(4,4′-bpy)]n, and [Mn2(S2COnPr)4(4,4′-bpy)3] (6) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, bpy = bipyridine) was prepared. Complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR spectroscopy, TG/DSC analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structures are built of monomeric molecules of the complexes, except for 6 with the 4,4′-bipyridine ligand, which contains a binuclear complex and 1D polymeric zigzag chain in one crystal.  相似文献

Three peroxomanganese(III) complexes [Mn(III)(O(2))(mL(5)(2))](+), [Mn(III)(O(2))(imL(5)(2))](+), and [Mn(III)(O(2))(N4py)](+) supported by pentadentate ligands (mL(5)(2) = N-methyl-N,N',N'-tris(2-pyridylmethyl)ethane-1,2-diamine, imL(5)(2) = N-methyl-N,N',N'-tris((1-methyl-4-imidazolyl)methyl)ethane-1,2-diamine, and N4py = N,N-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)-N-bis(2-pyridyl)methylamine) were generated by treating Mn(II) precursors with H(2)O(2) or KO(2). Electronic absorption, magnetic circular dichroism (MCD), and variable-temperature, variable-field MCD data demonstrate that these complexes have very similar electronic transition energies and ground-state zero-field splitting parameters, indicative of nearly identical coordination geometries. Because of uncertainty in peroxo (side-on η(2) versus end-on η(1)) and ligand (pentadentate versus tetradentate) binding modes, density functional theory (DFT) computations were used to distinguish between three possible structures: pentadentate ligand binding with (i) a side-on peroxo and (ii) an end-on peroxo, and (iii) tetradentate ligand binding with a side-on peroxo. Regardless of the supporting ligand, isomers with a side-on peroxo and the supporting ligand bound in a tetradentate fashion were identified as most stable by >20 kcal/mol. Spectroscopic parameters computed by time-dependent (TD) DFT and multireference SORCI methods provided validation of these isomers on the basis of experimental data. Hexacoordination is thus strongly preferred for peroxomanganese(III) adducts, and dissociation of a pyridine (mL(5)(2) and N4py) or imidazole (imL(5)(2)) arm is thermodynamically favored. In contrast, DFT computations for models of [Fe(III)(O(2))(mL(5)(2))](+) demonstrate that pyridine dissociation is not favorable; instead a seven-coordinate ferric center is preferred. These different results are attributed to the electronic configurations of the metal centers (high spin d(5) and d(4) for Fe(III) and Mn(III), respectively), which results in population of a metal-peroxo σ-antibonding molecular orbital and, consequently, longer M-O(peroxo) bonds for peroxoiron(III) species.  相似文献

In this work we present the investigation of the influence of electronic and structural variations induced by varying the N,N'-bridge on the magnetic properties of Cu(II)- bis(oxamato) complexes. For this study the complexes [Cu(opba)] (2-) ( 1, opba = o-phenylene- bis(oxamato)), [Cu(nabo)] (2-) ( 2, nabo = 2,3-naphthalene- bis(oxamato)), [Cu(acbo)] (2-) ( 3, acbo = 2,3-anthrachinone- bis(oxamato)), [Cu(pba)] (2-) ( 4, pba = propylene- bis(oxamato)), [Cu(obbo)] (2-) ( 5, obbo = o-benzyl- bis(oxamato)), and [Cu(npbo)] (2-) ( 6, npbo = 1,8-naphthalene- bis(oxamato)), and the respective structurally isomorphic Ni(II) complexes ( 8- 13) have been prepared as ( (n)Bu 4N) (+) salts. The new complex ( (n)Bu 4N) 2[Cu(R-bnbo)].2H 2O ( 7, R-bnbo = (R)-1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'- bis(oxamato)) was synthesized and is the first chiral complex in the series of Cu(II)-bis(oxamato) complexes. The molecular structure of 7 has been determined by single crystal X-ray analysis. The Cu(II) ions of the complexes 1- 7 are eta (4)(kappa (2) N, kappa (2) O) coordinated with a more or less distorted square planar geometry for 1- 6 and a distorted tetrahedral geometry for 7. Using pulsed Electron Nuclear Double Resonance on complex 6, detailed information about the relative orientation of the hyperfine ( A) and nuclear quadrupole tensors ( Q) of the coordinating nitrogens with respect to the g tensor were obtained. Electron Paramagnetic Resonance studies in the X, Q, and W-band at variable temperatures were carried out to extract g and A values of N ligands and Cu ion for 1- 7. The hyperfine values were interpreted in terms of spin population on the corresponding atoms. The obtained trends of the spin population for the monomeric building blocks were shown to correlate to the trends obtained in the dependence of the exchange interaction of the corresponding trinuclear complexes on their geometry.  相似文献

Two pyrimidine based NNS tridentate Schiff base ligands S-methyl-3-((2-S-methyl-6-methyl-4-pyrimidyl)methyl)dithiocarbazate [HL1] and S-benzyl-3-((2-S-methyl-6-methyl-4-pyrimidyl)methyl)dithiocarbazate [HL2] have been synthesised by 1:1 condensation of 2-S-methylmercapto-6-methylpyrimidine-4-carbaldehyde and S-methyl/S-benzyl dithiocarbazate. One Co(III) and one Mn(II) complex of HL1 and one Mn(II) complex of HL2 have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductivities, magnetic susceptibilities and spectroscopic studies. All the bis-chelate complexes have a distorted octahedral arrangement with an N4S2 chromophore around the central metal ion. Each ligand molecule binds the metal ion using pyrimidyl nitrogen, azomethine nitrogen and the thiolato sulfur atoms. In the free ligand moieties, the pyrimidine nitrogen atoms, azomethine nitrogen atoms and thione sulfur atoms are in EEE orientation to each other. During chelation, all the donor sites of the ligands are reoriented to ZEZ configuration in order to facilitate the chelation process. In all the complexes, the respective ligand molecule functions as the monoanionic tridentate one. All complexes were analyzed by single crystal X-ray diffraction and significant differences concerning the distortion from octahedral geometry of the coordination environment were observed.  相似文献

Five Mn(II) complexes of bis(thiosemicarbazones) which are represented as [Mn(H2Ac4Ph)Cl2] (1), [Mn(Ac4Ph)H2O] (2), [Mn(H2Ac4Cy)Cl2]·H2O (3), [Mn(H2Ac4Et)Cl2]·3H2O (4) and [Mn(H2Ac4Et)(OAc)2]·3H2O (5) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, electronic, infrared and EPR spectral techniques. In all the complexes except [Mn(Ac4Ph)H2O], the ligands act as pentadentate neutral molecules and coordinate to Mn(II) ion through two thione sulfur atoms, two azomethine nitrogens and the pyridine nitrogen, suggesting a heptacoordination. While in compound [Mn(Ac4Ph)H2O], the dianionic ligand is coordinated to the metal suggesting six coordination in this case. Magnetic studies indicate the high spin state of Mn(II). Conductivity measurements reveal their non-electrolyte nature. EPR studies indicate five g values for [Mn(Ac4Ph)H2O] showing zero field splitting.  相似文献

Seven new cobalt(II) complexes based on the Schiff bases, 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(isonicotinoylhydrazone) (H2L1) and 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(nicotinoylhydrazone) (H2L2), are synthesized and studied by X-ray diffraction analysis: [Co(H2L1)(NCS)2] · 2.25H2O (I), [Co(H2L2)(NCS)2] · CH3OH (II), [Co(H2L2)(NCS)(H2O)]NCS (III), [Co(H4L1)(NCS)2](NO3)2 · 2H2O (IV), [Co(H4L1)(NCS)2][Co(NCS)4] · 0.75H2O (V), [Co(H4L2)(NCS)2][Co(NCS)4] · 1.75H2O (VI), and [Co(H2L2)(NCS)(CH3OH)]2[Co(NCS)4] · 2CH3OH (VII) (CIF files CCDC 941186 (I), 1457906 (Ia), 1457905 (II), 941187 (III), 1457907 (IV), 1457908 (V), 1457909 (VI), and 941188 (VII)). The organic ligands in the complexes act as pentadentate neutral H2L or doubly protonated (H4L)2+ coordinated through the same set of donor atoms N3O2. In all compounds IVII, the coordination polyhedron of the Co2+ ion in a complex with the Schiff bases has a shape of a pentagonal bipyramid. The hydrazones are arranged in the equatorial plane of the bipyramid. Its axial vertices are occupied by the nitrogen atoms of the NCS ̄ anions in compounds I, II, and IV–VI and by the nitrogen atoms of NCS ̄ and oxygen of the water molecule in compound III or methanol in compound VII. The NO 3 - anions or [Co(NCS)4]2 ̄ complex anions obtained by the reactions are involved along with the NCS ̄ anions in the formation of compounds IV–VII.  相似文献

Treatment of manganese(II) acetate tetrahydrate [Mn(CH3COO)2·4H2O] with one equivalent of 2,2′:6′,2′′-terpyridine (terpy) and two equivalents of potassium tetraphenylimido-diphosphinate K[N(Ph2PO)2] in methanol afforded a mononuclear manganese(II) complex, [(terpy)Mn{η1-O-N(Ph2PO)2}2(H2O)] (1), with two terminal [N(Ph2PO)2]– ligands. Interaction of [Mn(CH3COO)2·4H2O] with one equivalent of terpy in the presence of both K[N(Ph2PO)2] and Ph2PO2K in methanol gave a mononuclear manganese(II) complex [(terpy)Mn(η1-O-O2PPh2){N(Ph2PO)2}] (2) with a chelated [N(Ph2PO)2]– ligand. Treatment of manganese(II) dichloride tetrahydrate [MnCl2·4H2O] with three equivalents of K[N(Ph2PO)2] in methanol resulted in isolation of a mononuclear manganese(III) complex [Mn{η1-O-N(Ph2PO)2}-{N(Ph2PO)2}2] (3) with one terminal and two chelated [N(Ph2PO)2]– ligands. Reaction of [Mn(CH3COO)2·4H2O] with one equivalent of 4′-phenyl-[2,2′:6′,2′′]-terpyridine (4-Ph-terpy) and two equivalents of Ph2PO2K in methanol gave [(4-Ph-terpy)Mn(η1-O-O2PPh2)2(H2O)] (4) with a labile water molecule. Complexes 14 have been spectroscopically characterized and their structures have been established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Catalytic behavior of 1 and 4 for sulfide oxidation was also investigated.  相似文献

77Se-enriched CpNi(bds) (bds = 1,2-benzenediselenolate), has been synthesized and its g tensor and 77Se hyperfine tensors have been obtained from its frozen solution electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectrum. These parameters are consistent with those calculated by density functional theory (DFT); it is shown that 10% of the spin is localized on each selenium and that the direction associated to the maximum 77Se couplings is aligned along the gmin direction, perpendicular to the Ni(bds) plane. EPR measurements and DFT calculations are also carried out on the 77Se enriched complex CpNi(dsit) as well on the two dithiolene analogues CpNi(bdt) and CpNi(dmit). The optimized structures of the isolated CpNi(bds) and CpNi(bdt) complexes have been used to generate the idealized dimers (bds)NiCp...CpNi(bds) and (bdt)NiCp...CpNi(bdt) characterized by Cp...Cp overlap. The exchange parameters J calculated at the DFT level for these systems are in reasonable accord with the experimental values. The influence of the geometry of the dimer on its magnetic properties is assessed by calculating the variation of J as a function of the relative orientation of the two Ni(diselenolene) or Ni(dithiolene) planes.  相似文献

Reported are the crystal and solution structures (determined by X-ray crystallography and EPR spectroscopy/simulation of the EPR spectra, respectively) of two dinuclear CuII complexes, coordinated to isomeric dinucleating azetidine-based ligands, whose N3 cavities (pyridine/azetidine/secondary amine) are bridged by para- or meta-substituted phenyl groups. The CuII sites in the two dinuclear systems are similar to each other and as expected from the known structure of the corresponding mononuclear complex. The significant differences between the crystal structures of the mono- and the two dinuclear complexes and between the crystal and the solution structures are due to the elasticity of the CuII coordination sphere, the flexibility of the dinucleating ligands and subtle changes related to weak interactions (crystal lattice, solvation, anion coordination/ion pairing).  相似文献

Capillary electrophoresis (CE) and electrospray ionisation (ESI) mass spectra of aqueous solutions of manganese(II) complexes of the monoanions of the pentadentate ligands N-methyl-N'-carboxymethyl-N,N'-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)ethane-1,2-diamine (mcbpen(-)) and N-benzyl-N'-carboxymethyl-N,N'-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)ethane-1,2-diamine (bcbpen(-)), show the presence of a mixture of closely related Mn(II) species, assigned to the mono, di-, tri- and poly-cationic complexes [Mn(II)(L)(H(2)O)](n)(n+), L = mcbpen(-) or bcbpen(-) with n = 1, 2, 3, etc. In solution, these complexes are reversibly oxidized by tert-butyl hydrogen peroxide (TBHP), (NH(4))(2)[Ce(NO(3))(6)], Ce(ClO(4))(4), oxone and [Ru(bipy)(3)](3+) to form metastable (t(?) = min to h) higher valent (hydr)oxide species, showing a collective maximum absorbance at 430 nm. The same species can be produced by [Ru(bipy)(3)](2+)-mediated photooxidization in the presence of an electron acceptor. TBHP oxidation of the complexes, in large excesses of the TBHP, is concurrent with an O(2) evolution with turnovers of up to 1.5 × 10(4) mol of O(2) per mol of [Mn] and calculated rate constants from two series of experiments of 0.039 and 0.026 mol[O(2)] s(-1) M(-2). A 1:1 reaction of TBHP with [Mn] is rate determining and the resultant species is proposed to be the mononuclear, catalytically competent, [Mn(IV)(O)(mcbpen)](+). At very close m/z values [Mn(III)(OH)(mcbpen)](+), [Mn(2)(III/IV)(O)(2)(mcbpen)(2)](+) and [Mn(IV)(2)(O)(2)(mcbpen)(2)](2+) are detected by ESI MS and CE when the concentration of TBHP is comparable to or lower than that of [Mn]. These are conditions that occur post catalysis and these species are derived from [Mn(IV)(O)(mcbpen)](+) through condensation reactions.  相似文献

The reactions of LiC6H4CH2NMe2 with MnI2 and CrCl2 in tetrahydrofuran gave the air-sensitive, paramagnetic complexes Li2(THF)2MX2(C6H4CH2NMe2)2. The solvated lithium halide may be removed from these complexes to give M(C6H4CH2NMe2)2 as paramagnetic organometallic complexes. Similarly the reactions of LiCH2C6H4NMe2 with CrCl2 and MnI2 gave M(CH2C6H4NMe2)2 whose magnetic moments and molecular weight measurements indicate that association occurs in solution. The X-ray crystal structure of Mn(CH2C6H4NMe2)2 was determined. The molecule is dimeric, containing one bridging and one terminal CH2C6H4NMe2 ligand per metal. The bridging ligand is bonded to both manganese atoms through a common CH2 group. One manganese atom has a bidentate CH2C6H4NMe2 ligand while the other manganese atom has a monodentate o-dimethylaminobenzyl ligand.  相似文献

Using magnetization measurements and multifrequency high-field electron paramagnetic resonance, the largest zero-field splitting for any individual isolated Mn(II) ion has been found in a polyoxometalate complex, suggesting that the inorganic ligand induces large Ising-type magnetic anisotropy.  相似文献

A series of new hydroxyindanimine ligands [ArNCC2H3(CH3)C6H2(R)OH] (Ar = 2,6-i-Pr2C6H3, R = H (HL1), R = Cl (HL2), and R = Me (HL3)) were synthesized and characterized. Reaction of hydroxyindanimine with Cu(OAc)2 · H2O results in the formation of the mononuclear bis(hydroxyindaniminato)copper(II) complexes Cu[ArNCC2H3(CH3)C6H2(R)O]2 (Ar = 2,6-i-Pr2C6H3, R = H (1), R = Cl (2), and R = Me (3)). The complex 2′ was obtained from the chlorobenzene solution of the complex 2, which has the same molecule formula with the complex 2 but it is a polymorph. All copper(II) complexes were characterized by their IR and elemental analyses. In addition, X-ray structure analyses were performed for complexes 1, 2, and 2′. After being activated with methylaluminoxane (MAO), complexes 1-3 can be used as catalysts for the vinyl polymerization of norbornene with moderate catalytic activities. Catalytic activities and the molecular weight of polynorbornene have been investigated for various reaction conditions.  相似文献

The synthesis, structural characterization, and electronic properties of a new series of high-spin six-coordinate dihalide mononuclear MnII complexes [Mn(tpa)X2] (tpa=tris-2-picolylamine; X=I (1), Br (2), and Cl (3)) are reported. The analysis of the crystallographic data shows that in all investigated complexes the manganese ion lies in the center of a distorted octahedron with a cis configuration of the halides imposed by the tpa ligand. By a multifrequency high-field electron paramagnetic resonance investigation (95-285 GHz), the electronic properties of 1-3 were determined (DI=-0.600, DBr=-0.360, DCl=+0.115 cm-1), revealing the important effect of (i) the nature of the halide and (ii) the configuration (cis/trans) of the two halides on the magnitude of D. The spin Hamiltonian parameters obtained by density functional theory calculations initiated from the crystal structure of 1-3 are in reasonable agreement with the experimental values. The absolute value of D is consistently overestimated, but the sign and the trend over the chemical series is well reproduced. Theoretical models (cis- and trans-[Mn(NH3)4X2], X=I, Br, Cl and F) have been used to investigate the different contributions to D and also to understand the origin of the experimentally observed changes in D within the series reported here. This study reveals that the spin-spin coupling contributions to the D tensor are non-negligible for the lighter halides (F, Cl) but become insignificant for the heavier halides (I, Br). The four different types of excitations involved in the spin-orbit coupling (SOC) part of the D tensor contribute with comparable magnitudes and opposing signs. The general trend observed for halide MnII complexes (DI>DBr>DCl) can be explained by the fact that the halide SOC dominates the D value in these systems with a major contribution arising from interference between metal- and halide-SOC contributions, which are proportional to the product of the SOC constants of Mn and X.  相似文献

Abstract

Two new neutral mononuclear Zn(II) and Mn(II) complexes with pyridine-2-amidoxine and carboxylate ligands, [Zn(paH)2(OAc)2]·2CH3OH (paH = pyridine-2-amidoxine, HOAc = acetic acid) (1), and [Mn(paH)2(OAc)2]·C2H5OH·2H2O (2), have been prepared and characterized structurally by X-ray crystallography. 1 and free paH exhibit photoluminescence at room temperature in solid state, which is rare so fare for metal complexes with oxime-based ligand. The emissions of 1 and free paH arise from the metal-perturbed paH-based π → π* ligand-to-ligand charge transfer transition (LLCT) and π → π* charge transfer transition in nature, respectively, in terms of the density functional theory level calculations and molecular orbital analyses.  相似文献

Seven-coordinate manganese(II) complexes [Mn(L)(H2O)2]2+, where L represents an equatorial pentadentate macrocyclic ligand with five nitrogen donor atoms, were studied with regard to their acid-base properties, water-exchange rate constants, and corresponding activation parameters (DeltaH, DeltaS, and DeltaV). Three of the studied complexes without imine bonds in the macrocyclic ligand are proven superoxide dismutase (SOD) mimetics. Their water-exchange parameters were compared with those of the imino groups containing complex [Mn(L1)(Cl)2] (dichloro-2,13-dimethyl-3,6,9,12,18-pentaazabicyclo[12.3.1]-octadeca-1(18),2,12,14,16-pentaenemanganese(II)), which does not show SOD activity. In addition the X-ray crystal structure of a new complex, dichloro-2,6-bis[1-(2-(N-methylamino)ethylimino)ethyl]pyridine-manganese(II) [Mn(L2)(Cl)2], which is the acyclic analog of [Mn(L1)(Cl)2], is reported. Stability constants of the complexes and the pKa values of the ligands were measured by potentiometric titration. The titrations of [Mn(L1)(H2O)2]2+ and [Mn(L2)(H2O)2]2+ led to complicated species distribution curves because of their ligands containing imine bonds. Water exchange was measured by temperature- and pressure-dependent 17O NMR techniques. In addition to the measurements on [Mn(EDTA)(H2O)]2- and its derivatives, this is the only study of water exchange on seven-coordinate manganese complexes. The water exchange rate constants vary between 1.6 x 107 s-1 and 5.8 x 107 s-1 at 25 degrees C and are mainly controlled by the pi-acceptor abilities of the ligands. The exchange rate constant of the diaqua-1,4,7,10,13-pentaazacyclopentadecanemanganese(II) [Mn([15]aneN5)(H2O)2]2+ complex seems to be even higher but could not be exactly determined. On the basis of the obtained activation parameters, the exchange mechanism of the studied seven-coordinate manganese(II) complexes follows a dissociative pathway (Id mechanism). DFT calculations (UB3LYP/LANL2DZp) were performed to obtain the energy required for the dissociation of the coordinated water molecule, that is, the energy difference between the starting seven-coordinate complex and a six-coordinate intermediate. The results have been discussed in terms of the catalytic mechanism of the proven SOD mimetics.  相似文献

Abstract

Five new coordination complexes [MnII (L1)2(4,4′-bpy)]n (1), [NiII (L1)2(4,4′-bpy)]n (2), [ZnII (L1)2(4,4′-bpy)]n (3), [CuII (L1)2(phen)2]Cl2 (4) and [CuII 2(L1)2(2,2′-bpy)2]Cl2 (5) (HL1?=?3,4,5-trifluorobenzeneseleninic acid, 4,4′-bpy = 4,4′-bipyridine, 2,2′-bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine and phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), have been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy. Complexes 13 display similar layers structures. In 13, the adjacent layers are further connected through π···π interactions to form three-dimensional supramolecular structures. Complexes 4 and 5 show a dimer containing an eight-membered ring. The dimer extends into three-dimensional supramolecular structures through π···π interactions, C–H···F and C–H···Cl interactions.  相似文献

Two cadmium complexes, {[Cd2(2,5-tda)2(ip)4]·4H2O}n (1) and {[Cd2(4,4′-obb)2(ip)2·H2O]·H2O}n (2) (2,5-tda?=?thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylic acid, 4,4′-obb?=?4,4′-oxybisbenzoic acid, ip?=?1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1, 10]-phenanthroline), were synthesized and characterized by IR, elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray analysis revealed that 1 is a dinuclear complex with the 2,5-tda anion connecting two Cd ions in a μ1-η1:η0/μ1-η1:η0 coordination mode. Each dinuclear complex is further connected with neighboring complexes via hydrogen-bonding interactions. Compound 2 displays a 2-D layer structure with opened windows occupied by crystallographic water molecules. The layers are further packed via hydrogen-bonding interactions. Luminescent properties for 1 and 2 are also investigated in the solid state at room temperature.  相似文献

Abstract  Two new nickel(II) complexes, namely [Ni(BPSE)](BF4) 1, and [Ni (5-BST)CH3OH]ClO4 2 [BPSE = 2-benzoylpyridinesalicylidene ethylenediamine, 5-BST = 5-bromosalicylidene-tris(2-aminoethyl)amine] have been synthesized and characterized using various physico-chemical methods. The magnetic and spectroscopic data indicate a distorted square planar geometry for complex 1, while complex 2 is assigned a distorted octahedral geometry. Complex 1 crystallized in the triclinic space group P-1. Complex 2 adopts an octahedral geometry with space group symmetry P 21/n. The superoxide dismutase activity of these complexes has been measured. Graphical Abstract  This paper describes three new nickel (II) complexes viz; [Ni(BPSE)](BF4) 1, [Ni(BSE)] 2 and [Ni (5-BST) CH3OH] ClO4 3 [BPSE = 2-benzoylpyridine salicyledene-ethylenediamine, BSE = bis(salicylaldehyde) ethylenediamine, 5-BST = 5-bromosalicyledene-tris(2-amino ethyl) amine]. The magnetic and spectroscopic data indicate a distorted square planar geometry for complex 1 and 2, while the comlplex 3 is assigned a distorted octahedral geometry. Superoxide dismutase activity of these complexes have also been measured. Reaction of Tp*MoVSCl2 with a variety of phenols and thiols in the presence of triethylamine produces mononuclear, thiomolybdenyl complexes Tp*MoVSX2 [Tp* = hydrotris(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)borate; X = 2-(ethylthio)phenolate (etp), 2-(n-propyl)phenolate (pp), phenolate; X2 = benzene-1,2-dithiolate (bdt), 4-methylbenzene-1,2-dithiolate (tdt), benzene-1,2-diolate (cat)]. The complexes have been characterized by microanalysis, mass spectrometry, IR, EPR, and UV-visible spectroscopic data, and X-ray crystallography (for the etp, pp, bdt, and cat derivatives). The mononuclear, six-coordinate, distorted-octahedral Mo centers are coordinated by terminal sulfido (MoS = 2.123(1)-2.1368(8) A), tridentate facial Tp*, and monodentate or bidentate O/S-donor ligands. Multifrequency (S-, X-, Q-band) EPR spectra of the complexes and selected molybdenyl analogues were acquired at 130 K and 295 K and yielded a spin Hamiltonian of Cs symmetry or lower, with gzz < gyy < gxx < ge and Az'z' > Ax'x' approximately Ay'y', and a noncoincidence angle in the range of beta = 24-39 degrees . Multifrequency EPR, especially at S-band, was found to be particularly valuable in the unambiguous assignment of the spin Hamiltonian parameters in these low-symmetry complexes. The weaker pi-donor terminal sulfido ligand yields a smaller SOMO-LUMO gap and reduced g-values for the thiomolybdenyl complexes compared with molybdenyl analogues, supporting existing crystallographic and EPR data for an apically coordinated oxo group in the active site of xanthine oxidase.  相似文献
