We study the photon counting noise in optical interferometers used for gravitational wave detection. In order to reduce quantum noise a squeezed vacuum state is injected into the usually unused input port. Here, we specifically investigate the so-called “dark port case,” when the beam splitter is oriented close to 90° to the incoming laser beam, such that nearly all photons go to one output port of the interferometer, and only a small fraction of photons is seen in the other port (“dark port”). For this case it had been suggested that signal amplification is possible without concurrent noise amplification [R. Barak and Y. Ben-Aryeh, J. Opt. Soc. Am. B 25, 361 (2008)]. We show that by injection of a squeezed vacuum state into the second input port, counting noise is reduced for large values of the squeezing factor, however the signal is not amplified. Signal strength only depends on the intensity of the laser beam.  相似文献

研究了具有实虚部间关联的量子噪声和抽运噪声驱动的单模激光系统输入信号后的统计性质,采用线性化近似方法计算了系统的稳态平均光强相对涨落,分析了量子噪声实虚部间关联系数、量子噪声强度、抽运噪声强度、输入信号振幅和频率、净增益等对稳态平均光强相对涨落的影响,发现在量子噪声实虚部间弱关联、小噪声、远离阚值、信号振幅不大和频率较高的条件下激光场的统计涨落较小。  相似文献

Currently operating laser interferometric gravitational wave detectors are limited by quantum noise above a few hundred Hertz. Detectors that will come on line in the next decade are predicted to be limited by quantum noise over their entire useful frequency band (from 10 Hz to 10 kHz). Further sensitivity improvements will, therefore, rely on using quantum optical techniques such as squeezed state injection and quantum non‐demolition, which will, in turn, drive these massive mechanical systems into quantum states. This article reviews the principles behind these optical and quantum optical techniques and progress toward there realization.  相似文献

在自由空间量子密钥分配中,单光子源采用具有泊松分布的高度衰减激光脉冲,量子密码术协议采用BB84和B92协议。通过引入量子信道传输率、单光子捕获概率、测量因子和数据筛选因子,建立了量子误码率理论模型,给出了量子误码率的表达式。对于自由空间量子信道,引起量子误码率的主要因素是光学元件、探测器暗噪声和空间光学环境,并对这些因素进行了分析。针对低轨卫星_地面站间链路,进行了量子误码率的数值仿真研究。结果表明,在低轨卫星_地面站间进行量子密钥分配是可行的,限制自由空间量子密钥分配链路距离的主要因素是探测器暗噪声和空间光学环境。  相似文献

Third generation terrestrial interferometric gravitational wave detectors will likely require significant advances in laser and optical technologies to reduce two of the main limiting noise sources: thermal noise due to mirror coatings and quantum noise arising from a combination of shot noise and radiation pressure noise. Increases in laser power and possible changes of the operational wavelength require new high power laser sources and new electro-optic modulators and Faraday isolators. Squeezed light can be used to further reduce the quantum noise while nano-structured optical components can be used to reduce or eliminate mirror coating thermal noise as well as to implement all-reflective interferometer configurations to avoid thermal effects in mirror substrates. This paper is intended to give an overview on the current state-of-the-art and future trends in these areas of ongoing research and development.  相似文献

Sagnac effect enhancement can improve optical gyro precision. For a certain input intensity, we suggest that the other input port of beam splitter(BS) should be fed with some quantum light to break through shot noise limit(SNL) to improve Sagnac effect without increasing radiation-pressure noise(NRP). We design a Sagnac effect quantum enhancement criterion(SQEC) to judge whether some quantum light can enhance Sagnac effect and present a Sagnac effect enhancement scheme that utilizing Fock state light and parity measurement technique to extract the output phase. The results of the theoretical analysis show that the maximum sensitivity can be reached at θ = 0, and the phase precision can break through SNL and even achieve Heisenberg limit(HL). When the Fock state average photon number n is far less than coherent state, the minimum measurable angular rate is improved with (2n+1)~(1/2) times, which can deduce shot noise and increase NRP little.  相似文献

采用自平衡零拍方案, 对低频段的标准量子真空涨落进行了测量. 实验确定了该系统的饱和光功率约为3.2 mW. 在10 Hz–400 kHz的频率范围内, 系统的共模抑制比平均为55 dB, 在100 Hz处高达63 dB, 对激光经典技术噪声具有很强的抑制作用. 当入射光功率为400 μ W 时, 真空涨落噪声达到11 dB. 此低频量子真空噪声探测系统可广泛应用于量子计量和量子光学等研究领域.  相似文献

介绍了量子干涉雷达物理模型及其探测原理,并采用耗散-涨落通道处理量子光场在湍流大气中的传输,从经典湍流统计理论推导得到大气透射率的概率密度分布函数P(T),以此为基础系统分析了大气闪烁效应对纠缠相干态量子干涉雷达的影响机理,深入讨论了平均大气透射率、闪烁指数等大气参数对系统目标探测性能的影响.研究发现:低损耗情况下系统灵敏度及分辨率性能随闪烁指数的增加而降低;高损耗情况下大气闪烁则能显著提高系统灵敏度和分辨率性能,且界定高低损耗的透射率临界点随脉冲光子数增加而增加,故大气闪烁能够在一定程度上克服大气损耗造成的不良影响.  相似文献

Stimulated Brillouin scattering-induced phase noise is harmful to interferometric fiber sensing systems. The localized fluctuating model is used to study the intensity noise caused by the stimulated Brillouin scattering in a single-mode fiber. The phase noise structure is analyzed for an interferometric fiber sensing system, and an unbalanced Michelson interferometer with an optical path difference of 1 m, as well as the phase-generated carrier technique, is used to measure the phase noise. It is found that the phase noise is small when the input power is below the stimulated Brillouin scattering threshold, increases dramatically at first and then gradually becomes flat when the input power is above the threshold, which is similar to the variation in relative intensity noise. It can be inferred that the increase in phase noise is mainly due to the broadening of the laser linewidth caused by stimulated Brillouin scattering, which is verified through linewidth measurements in the absence and presence of the stimulated Brillouin scattering.  相似文献

We propose a new design of a chaotic signal generation and cancellation system using an all fiber optic scheme. A system consists of a standard diode laser, a fiber optic micro ring resonator, and an optical add/drop multiplexer. When light from the diode laser is input into the fiber ring resonator, the chaotic signal can be generated by using the selected fiber ring resonator parameters and the diode laser input power. The required signal is obtained in the transmission link via the add/drop device by a specific user at the drop port. Simulation results obtained have shown the potential of application, especially, when the practical ring radius is 10 μm with the optical input power is in the range of the communication standard diode laser, for instance, when the coupling coefficients of the add/drop device are κ1 = 0.01 and κ2 = 0.01–0.9. When the add port of the add/drop device is employed, such a system can also be utilized for the multi user applications.  相似文献

音频段压缩态光场是进行连续变量量子精密测量重要的量子资源.本文利用自制的低噪声连续单频671 nm/1.34μm双波长激光器作为抽运源,抽运基于周期极化磷酸氧钛钾晶体的简并光学参量振荡器,进行了光通信波段1.34μm连续变量音频段真空压缩态光场的实验制备.当简并光学参量振荡器运转于阈值以下参量反放大状态时,抽运光场功率为95 mW,本地振荡光功率为60μW时,在分析频率8—100 k Hz范围内研制出1.34μm真空压缩态光场.在分析频率36 k Hz处,压缩态光场的最大压缩度达5.0 d B;在音频频率8k Hz处,压缩态光场的压缩度达3.0 d B.音频段1.34μm压缩态光场可用于实现基于光纤的量子精密测量.  相似文献

设计研制了连续单频671 nm/1342 nm双波长激光器,并通过模式清洁器降低了激光器额外噪声.利用该低噪声连续单频激光器抽运由Ⅱ类准相位匹配晶体构成的双共振非简并光学参量放大器,实验制备出纠缠度达3 dB的光通信波段1.34μm连续变量量子纠缠态光场.该波段量子纠缠态光场在光纤中传输损耗低且相散效应小,与现有的光纤通信系统相兼容,可用于实现基于光纤的实用化连续变量量子通信.  相似文献

We demonstrate the lossless state-selective detection of a single rubidium 87 atom trapped in an optical tweezer. This detection is analogous to the one used on trapped ions. After preparation in either a dark or a bright state, we probe the atom internal state by sending laser light that couples an excited state to the bright state only. The laser-induced fluorescence is collected by a high numerical aperture lens. The single-shot fidelity of the detection is 98.6±0.2% and is presently limited by the dark count noise of the detector. The simplicity of this method opens new perspectives in view of applications to quantum manipulations of neutral atoms.  相似文献

量子纠缠是一种重要的量子资源,在多个空间分离的量子存储器间建立确定性的量子纠缠,然后在用户控制的时刻将所存储的量子纠缠转移到量子信道中进行信息的分发和传送,这对于实现量子信息网络是至关重要的.本文介绍了用光学参量放大器制备与铷原子D1吸收线对应的非经典光场,而且在三个空间分离的原子系综中确定性量子纠缠的产生、存储和转移.利用电磁感应透明光和原子相互作用的原理,将制备的多组分光场纠缠态模式映射到三个远距离的原子系综以建立原子自旋波之间的纠缠.然后,存储在原子系综中的纠缠态通过三个量子通道,纠缠态的量子噪声被转移到三束空间分离的正交纠缠光场.三束释放的光场间纠缠的存在验证了该系统具有保持多组分纠缠的能力.这个方案实现了三个量子节点间的纠缠,并且可以直接扩展到具有更多节点的量子网络,为未来实现大型量子网络通信奠定了基础.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose and demonstrate a new and original model for theoretical calculation and experimental measurement of the noise power spectral density (NPSD) in phase-modulated optical links. The phase modulation is operated in the RF frequency range by an external phase modulator. The NPSD is derived for the first time in interferometric systems, by considering all effects such as the 1/f FM noise of the laser and white noise applied to light from a 1550 nm DFB laser, with phase modulation. The results show for the first time the influence of the phase modulation index, modulation frequency and interferometric delay in the phase-to-intensity noise conversion. The experimental and simulation results of conversion of FM-noise to intensity noise in an optical link by considering the external RF phase modulation are shown with good agreement.  相似文献

提出了一种强度差起伏量子非破坏性(QND)测量的实验方案,该方案通过一个非简并光学参量放大腔实现。推导了在非理想状态下该系统的传输系数和量子态制备能力的关系式,分别讨论了探针输入噪声谱和探测系统测量效率对其测量的影响。结果表明:探针输入噪声越小,测量效率越高,则其测量质量就越好,且对测量效率越敏感。  相似文献
