This work presents a novel optical holographic encrypted data storage approach based on a phase encoding multiplexed scheme. In the proposed data storage scheme, patterns to be encrypted are stored holographically in a photorefractive LiNbO3:Fe crystal using a lenticular lens array (LLA) sheet phase-encoded multiplexing. Experimental results reveal that rotating an LLA placed as a phase modulator in the path of the reference beam is a simple but effective method of increasing the phase addresses for holographic memory in a crystal. Combining this rotational multiplexing with two-axis rotating multiplexing provides further data storage and data encryption capacity.  相似文献

The cross-talk noise in phase encoded holographic memories employing unitary matrices is theoretically investigated. After reviewing some earlier work in this area, we derive a relationship for the noise-to-signal ratio for phase-code multiplexing with unitary matrices. The noise-to-signal ratio rises in a zigzag way on increasing the storage capacity. Cross-talk is mainly caused by high-frequency phase codes. Unitary matrices of even orders have only one bad code, while unitary matrices of odd orders have four bad codes. The signal-to-noise ratios of all other codes can in each case be drastically improved by omission of these bad codes. We summarize the optimal orders of Hadamard and unitary matrices for recording a given number of holograms. The unitary matrices can enable us to adjust the available spatial light modulators to achieve the maximum possible storage capacity in both circumstances with and without bad codes. 基于光学全息的角度复用特性, 根据空间光调制器对光场的相位和振幅调制原理, 通过加载产生任意矢量光所需要的相位分布, 设计了一种生成任意矢量光的方法. 该方法首先利用光学全息技术记录空间光调制器加载的相位, 从而制作一个全息光栅; 再现过程中, 两束具有相同入射角度的参考光照射全息光栅, 使得两束再现光相干叠加, 进而获得可调控的任意矢量光. 该方法能够避免复杂偏振态的出现, 并且具有生成光路简单、方便操作、生成矢量光的偏振纯度高等优势. 通过计算机模拟生成了任意矢量光, 获得了很好的效果.  相似文献

An encrypted optical memory system using double random phase codes in the Fresnel domain is proposed. In this system, two random phase codes and their positions form three-dimensional keys for encryption of images and are used as keys to recover the original data. The third dimension is the positions of the codes, which can have as many as three degrees of freedom. Original images encrypted by use of the two phase codes located in the Fresnel domain are stored holographically in a photorefractive material. We demonstrate in preliminary experiments encryption and decryption of optical memory in a LiNbO(3) :Fe photorefractive crystal by use of angular multiplexing.  相似文献

Angular momentum, a fundamental physical quantity, can be divided into spin angular momentum(SAM) and orbital angular momentum(OAM) in electromagnetic waves. Helically-phased or twisted light beams carrying OAM that exploit the spatial structure physical dimension of electromagnetic waves have benefited wide applications ranging from optical manipulation to quantum information processing. Using the two distinct properties of OAM, i.e., inherent orthogonality and unbounded states in principle, one can develop OAM modulation and OAM multiplexing techniques for twisted optical communications. OAM multiplexing is an alternative space-division multiplexing approach employing an orthogonal mode basis related to the spatial phase structure. In this paper, we review the recent progress in twisted optical communications using OAM in free space and fiber. The basic concept of momentum, angular momentum, SAM, OAM and OAM-carrying twisted optical communications,key techniques and devices of OAM generation/(de)multiplexing/detection, high-capacity spectrally-efficient free-space OAM links, fiber-based OAM links, and OAM processing functions are presented. Ultra-high spectral efficiency and petabit-scale freespace data links are achieved benefiting from OAM multiplexing. The key techniques and challenges of twisted optical communications are also discussed. Twisted optical communications using OAM are compatible with other existing physical dimensions such as frequency/wavelength, amplitude, phase, polarization and time, opening a possible way to facilitate continuous increase of the aggregate transmission capacity and spectral efficiency through N-dimensional multiplexing.  相似文献

We present a method to improve the resolution of digital holographic images based on angular multiplexing with incoherent beams from two orthogonal polarized components of natural light. Two incoherent subholograms are synchronously recorded by two pairs of incoherent object waves and reference waves with orthogonal polarization states, in which the object is illuminated by two incoherent beams from different directions. The increase in resolution is obtained through phase correction and superposition of two reconstructed object waves. Experimental results show that the resolution and quality of the reconstructed image can be effectively improved.  相似文献

The prospects for gray-scale (or multilevel) digital holographic data storage are theoretically and experimentally investigated. A simple signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) partitioning argument shows that when SNR scales as 1 over the number of holograms squared, five gray levels (log(2) 5bits/pixel) would be expected to result in a 15% capacity increase over binary data pages. However, the additional signal-dependent noise sources present in practical systems create a baseline SNR that reduces both the optimal number of gray levels and the resulting gain in capacity. To implement gray-scale recording experimentally, we adapt the predistortion technique previously developed for binary page-oriented memories [Opt. Lett. 23, 289 (1998)]. Several new block-based modulation codes for decoding gray-scale data pages are introduced. User capacity is evaluated by an experimental technique using LiNbO(3) :Fe in the 90 degrees geometry. Experimental results show that a balanced modulation code with three gray levels provides a 30% increase in capacity (as well as a 30% increase in readout rate) over local binary thresholding.  相似文献

We present a novel numerical model for analyzing shift margin in spatial spread-spectrum (SSS) multiplexing, in which the spatial phase of signal beams, not in reference beams, is modulated and demodulated by a random diffuser to multiplex holograms. The shift margin is determined not by the Bragg effect of a thick hologram, but mainly by the phase correlation property of the diffuser used. In our model, we simulate signal data patterns and a smooth rough surface of a diffuser using oversampling and zero-padding, which allows us to cover crosstalk calculations and direct bit-errors calculations, with a fine shift resolution and a wide diffusion angle range. Calculation results revealed that the practical shift margin that ensures a signal to noise ratio more than 3.0 and a bit-error rate less than 10−2 is in the range of 0.3ωeff−0.5ωeff, where ωeff is the effective autocorrelation length of the diffuser transmission function. This model will be helpful in designing the optimum random diffuser profile for SSS multiplexing.  相似文献

We propose and demonstrate the use of hybrid ternary modulated digital pages for content-addressable holographic data storage. Display of binary data pages with equal number of ZEROs and ONEs by modulating both amplitude and phase of beams using twisted-nematic liquid crystal spatial light modulator, reduces strong de component and produces a more homogeneous spectral distribution at the recording plane. This technique facilitates better recording of all spatial frequencies, thus improving the discrimination capability of a content-addressable memory. Hence we get better results in associative recall in a holographic memory system, with very low number of false hits. An important advantage of the hybrid ternary modulation over pure phase data pages is that it offers a dark state for coding the undesired portion of the SLM while the search argument is small. The unique orientation of quarter wave plate and the analyzer blocks the light transmitted from OFF pixels leading to near total removal of dark signals. This in turn improves the system performance and reduces the number of false hits when the size of the search argument is small. Our experimental results show good discrimination capability and signal-to-noise ratio for a hybrid ternary modulation based content addressable memory.  相似文献

Two simple holographic multiplexing techniques for sequential hologram interferometry of a diffusely illuminated object are described. These techniques enable one to use the frozen-fringe hologram interferometry to study a quasi-continuous change in the object and so regain some of the advantages of real-time hologram interferometry. In the first method of multiplexing with a single reference beam, a small angle prism is used for varying the direction of the reference beam between successive exposures and a double-exposure hologram is recorded at each position of the prism. In the second method of multiplexing with multiple reference beams, a separate reference beam is used for recording each state of the object independently and the interference pattern between any two states is obtained by simultaneous reconstruction of two light fields. The advantage of this method over the previous one is that it is also suitable for dynamic studies. Some reconstructed interferograms of a diffusely illuminated transparent object under different stresses are presented as illustrations.  相似文献

A novel phase encoding technology for phase-code multiplexing in holographic data storage (HDS) system called two-dimensional shift-orthogonal random-interleaving (2-D SORI) phase encoding is proposed. Compared with the traditional one-dimensional orthogonal phase-code multiplexing methods, the 2-D method is less sensitive to the variations of the diffraction amplitude and to the phase error of the phase mask. Phase masks for the 2-D SORI phase-code multiplexing can be generated by shifting an elaborately designed phase plate at a certain step, which can avoid the use of a high-cost phase spatial light modulator for the generation of multiple orthogonal phase masks. The cross-talk arising from the systematic phase defects of the static phase modulator is eliminated by the shift operation of the phase plate. Phase codes are interleaved under a predetermined random mapping rule to prevent unauthorized users from accessing the data and eliminate the Bragg degeneration cross-talk. A 2-D SORI phase plate with the size of 5.12 mm × 10.24 mm is designed and fabricated, from which 128 orthogonal phase patterns are generated. The feasibility of the 2-D SORI phase-code multiplexing method for HDS is experimentally demonstrated.  相似文献

Shift multiplexing is a holographic recording method that uses a spherical reference wave. We extend the principle to a thin slab of holographic material that acts as a waveguide. Total internal reflection folds the reference spherical beam in one dimension. We demonstrate that the shift selectivity with the folded spherical beam is independent of the slab thickness but depends instead on the numerical aperture of the coupled spherical wave. A shift selectivity of 0.5 microm has been achieved with a 1-mm-thick LiNbO3 crystal and 50 high-definition data pages are recorded with this method.  相似文献

We propose and demonstrate the use of phase images for holographic data storage. Use of phase images as input leads to uniform diffraction efficiency of multiplexed data pages. Use of binary phase-based data pages with 0 and π phase changes produces uniform spectral distribution at the Fourier plane. This in turn facilitates better recording of higher spatial frequencies. We experimentally demonstrate a phase-based holographic data storage system using shift multiplexing in a Fe:LiNbO3 crystal, and use it for associative retrieval. Preliminary studies indicate high discrimination capabilities of phase-based holographic data storage system over the amplitude-based system in a content-addressable memory.  相似文献

Coupled wave equations that consider two-dimensional distribution and phases of gratings are derived by using weak grating and slow varying approximation. The result of angular selectivity on rand binary data page shows that each minimum is nonzero and each maximum that is not the middle maximum is a little bit smaller than that on plane wave volume hologram. Angular multiplexing is also modeled using the same method, and the middle page is read out in two different angular spacings. The relationship about PSNR versus angular spacing at different multiplexing pages is analyzed to reflect crosstalk between pages. We propose the remote multiplexing of holograms with random patterns from a multimode fiber bundle used as the reference beams. The random pattern reference beam is characterized by the superposition and concatenation of propagation modes of multimode fiber and free space. For angle, shift, and wavelength remote multiplexing we compare two methods of laser coupling to the fiber bundle, i.e., direct coupling and lens coupling. A theoretical discussion that uses mode orthogonality is provided to describe multiplexing characteristics, and the theory is verified by experimental results. These remote-multiplexing methods can be applied to general multimode waveguide arrays for construction of compact and integrated optical systems in which multiplexing can be controlled remotely.  相似文献

We investigate the stimulated Brillouin scattering(SBS)properties of light beams carrying orbit angular momentum(OAM).The phase conjugation of light beams carrying OAM is experimentally achieved in an SBS mirror with a random phase plate.The spectrum and the pulse width compression of SBS light are measured.It is shown that the phenomena of pulse compression is observed and OAM conservation is confirmed in the SBS process.The OAM transfer from photons to phonons may find potential applications in photon-phonon conversion-based signal-processing schemes by using OAM multiplexing.  相似文献

Gray-level data pages enhance the storage capacity of holographic data storage systems. A balanced three gray-scale data page in phase mode produces a homogenized Fourier spectrum which is regarded to be necessary for suitable exploitation of the holographic recording medium. A commercially available transmission type twisted nematic liquid crystal display has been characterized for use as a phase spatial light modulator with phase modulation in the range 0–3π/2 at 532 nm wavelength, such that it may be used for holographic data storage with binary as well as three gray-level phase-modulated data pages. Experimental results of the phase and amplitude modulation characteristics of the SLM, Fourier plane homogeneity, and recording of phase-modulated binary, three gray-level data pages and their reconstruction with a real-time holographic interferometric method are presented.  相似文献
