An axisymmetric quasi-optical gyrotron (ASQUOTRON) is considered to realize a 10 MW, 150 GHz, CW oscillator required for an electron cyclotron resonance heating of a fusion plasma. The gyrotron has an axisymmetric mirror to be used as its optical cavity. It is shown that the axisymmetric mirror of relatively small radius (20 cm) can be used in producing the 10 MW continuous wave with a tolerable mirror heat load (0.5 kW/cm2). Considerations are also made on wave transmissions through the mirror and to a target.  相似文献

Exciting a hexagonal CdSe crystal with picosecond Nd: glass laser pulses, two-photon absorption and resonant non-phase-matched second-harmonic generation occur simultaneously. Using different crystal orientations, all components of the secondharmonic susceptibility tensor (non-vanishing components ared 31,d 33 andd 15) and some components of the two-photon absorption susceptibility tensor ijkl (3) (–L; L, L, –L) are determined.  相似文献

We define deformations of the Poisson bracket algebras of functions on manifolds = { + i / =1w i -i |w i C (S 1)} of pseudodifferential symbols on the circle ( C), arising in the works of Rosly and Khesin-Zakharevich. These deformations have vertex operator algebraic (VOA) counterparts, which have (for =n integer) a quotient isomorphic to theW-algebraW n associated by Fateev and Lukyanov to gl n .The product operation of symbols defines a Lie-Poisson structure on C L (Rosly, Khesin-Zakharevich); we show that this structure has also a VOA counterpart.  相似文献

We briefly analyze systems of successive resonance compression of microwave pulses and present the results of a study of resonance compression in a system of coupled resonators with energy output via interference switches. A power gain of about 18 dB was experimentally achieved in the 3 cm wavelength interval in a two-stage system with a superdimensional resonator in the first stage and a single-mode resonator in the second stage with output pulse duration of about 2.5 ns, peak power 3 MW, and efficiency 17 %.  相似文献

A heterodyne receiver based on a 1/3 reduced height rectangular waveguide SIS mixer with two mechanical tuners has been built for astronomical observations of molecular transitions in the 230 GHz frequency band. The mixer used an untuned array (RnCj3, Rn70 ) of four Nb/AIOx/Nb tunnel junctions in series as a nonlinear mixing element. A reasonable balance between the input and output coupling efficiencies has been obtained by choosing the junction number N=4. The receiver exhibits DSB (Double Side Band) noise temperature around 50 K over a frequency range of more than 10 GHz centered at 230 GHz. The lowest system noise temperature of 38 K has been recorded at 232.5 GHz. Mainly by adjusting the subwaveguide backshort, the SSB (Single Side Band) operation with image rejection of 15 dB is obtained with the noise temperature as low as 50 K. In addition, the noise contribution from each receiver component has been studied further. The minimum SIS mixer noise temperature is estimated as 15 K, pretty close to the quantum limit v/k11 K at 230 GHz. It is believed that the receiver noise temperatures presented are the lowest yet reported for a 230 GHz receiver using untuned junctions.  相似文献

A quasioptical isolator has been developed at 285 GHz with insertion loss2 dB and isolation 18 dB over a 1% bandwidth. By improving matching techniques, the device should perform as well over bandwidths up to 5%. This design can be easily modified to make a circulator.  相似文献

The ponderomotive force on a macroscopic body in a magnetic fluid is calculated by a hydrodynamic approach. The resulting equations are generally valid, neither small susceptibilities nor stationarity are assumed. The simple and widely-used formulaV(M-M bg )H is recoverd in linear order of ; magnetostrictive effects are shown to contribute in the order 3. The expressions derived here are definite and unambiguous, they do not depend on whether one starts from a theory in terms ofH, or in terms ofB: the correct evaluation of the contribution dV[-p] resolves the apparent contradiction between the force density expressions 0 MH, orMB.  相似文献

The formation probabilities of single- and double- compound nuclei from following the (K, K+) reaction are calculated, showing that double- hypernuclei are formed with a fairly large probability through a hyperon compound process involving directly after the (K, K+) reaction.We dedicate this paper to the late Professor Jan ofka with whom we enjoyed nice friendship and collaboration. It is well known that phonon anomalies will occur, if the charge relaxation rate is of the same order of magnitude as the phonon frequencies. Such an effect was observed by a strong softening of the LA-mode in 1,1,1-direction in several intermediate valent systems with NaCl-structure. Here we will report on such an effect, which is found for the first time in a diluted intermediate valent system. We have performed an inelastic neutron scattering experiment on polycrystalline Tm0.05Y0.95Se using a time-of-flight spectrometer with a very good energy resolution. As a result of a |Q|-dependent analysis of the measured density of phonon states we found that the LA-mode in 1,1,1-direction is also strongly softened in this dilute case.  相似文献

We analyze the low-temperature phase of ferromagnetic Kax-Ising models in dimensionsd2. We show that if the range of interactions is –1, then two disjoint translation-invariant Gibbs states exist if the inverse temperature satisfies –1N, where =d(1–)/(2d+2)(d+1), for any >0. The proof involves the blocking procedure usual for Kac models and also a contour representation for the resulting long-range (almost) continuous-spin system which is suitable for the use of a variant of the Peierls argument.  相似文献

The mean spherical model with an arbitrary interaction potential, the Fourier transform of which has a long-wavelength exponent , 0<2, is considered under periodic boundary conditions and fully finite geometry ind dimensions, when <d<2. A new form of the finite-size scaling equation for the spherical field in the critical region is derived, which relates the temperature shift to Madelung-type lattice constants. A general strategy is advanced for simplifying nonlinear optimization problems, the ant-lion method. This approach exploits shape modifications of the cost-function hypersurface which distend basins surrounding low-lying minima (including global minima). By intertwining hypersurface deformations with steepest-descent displacements, the search is concentrated on a small relevant subset of all minima. Specific calculations demonstrating the value of this method are reported for the partitioning of two classes of irregular but nonrandom graphs, the prime-factor graphs and the pi graphs. We also indicate how this approach can be applied to the traveling salesman problem and to design layout optimization, and that it may be useful in combination with simulated annealing strategies.  相似文献

We review the schemes which have been implemented, in order to achieve quantum non-demolition (QND) measurements in the optical domain. The simplest schemes can be obtained using the optical Kerr effect, which yields a crossed-phase modulation coupling between two light beams. Other schemes use either independently generated squeezed light, or coupled-mode parametric amplifiers. These various schemes can be characterized using three criteria, which describe, respectively, the quality of the quantum measurement, the non-destruction of the signal, and the conditional variance of the output signal beam, given the output meter beam (quantum-state preparation criterion). We show that quantitative limits can be defined with respect to these criteria, delimiting classical and quantum domains of operation. Then we present in more detail a new experimental implementation of QND measurements, using three-level atoms inside a doubly-resonant optical cavity.  相似文献

A study is made of instability at frequencies close to the electron cyclotron frequency B and its multiples, subject to the presence of two different groups of electrons. It is shown that a mixture of hot and cold electrons ( ph 2 pc 2 ) in the region of frequencies s B, s2 can be unstable with respect to waves of the flute type (k z=0) with maximum increment max ( ph/pc). B, if there exists an interval of transversal velocities in whichF/ >0. When the curvature of the magnetic field is taken into account, even waves with B can be unstable in such a plasma. The effect of spatial inhomogeneity of the hot component on flute-type instability and on two-beam cyclotron instability is also examined.The author extends his thanks to A. B. A cellular-automaton-like caricature of chemical turbulence on an infinite one-dimensional lattice is studied. The model exhibits apparently turbulent space-time patterns. To make this statement precise, the following problems or points are discussed: (1) The infinite-system-size limit of such cell-dynamical systems and its observability is defined. (2) It is proved that the invariant state in the large-system-size limit of the turbulent phase exhibits spatial patterns governed by a Gibbs random field. (3) Potential characteristics of turbulent space-time patterns are critically surveyed and a working definition of (weak) turbulence is proposed. (4) It is proved that the invariant state of the turbulent phase is actually (weak) turbulent. Furthermore, we conjecture that the turbulent phase of our model is an example of a K system that is not Bernoulli.  相似文献

We prove that theq-state Potts antiferromagnet on a lattice of maximum coordination numberr exhibits exponential decay of correlations uniformly at all temperatures (including zero temperature) wheneverq>2r. We also prove slightly better bounds for several two-dimensional lattices: square lattice (exponential decay forq7), triangular lattice (q11), hexagonal lattice (q4), and Kagomé lattice (q6).
