A proof of the following conjecture of Jungnickel and Tonchev on quasi-multiple quasi-symmetric designs is given: Let D be a design whose parameter set (v,b,r,k,) equals (v,sv,sk,k, s) for some positive integer s and for some integers v,k, that satisfy (v-1) = k(k-1) (that is, these integers satisfy the parametric feasibility conditions for a symmetric (v,k,)-design). Further assume that D is a quasi-symmetric design, that is D has at most two block intersection numbers. If (k, (s-1)) = 1, then the only way D can be constructed is by taking multiple copies of a symmetric (v,k, )-design.  相似文献

Let I,I be the minor of a matrix which corresponds to row set I and column set I. We give a characterization of the inequalities of the form I,I K,K J,J L,L which hold for all totally nonnegative matrices. This generalizes a recent result of Fallat, Gekhtman, and Johnson.  相似文献

Let A be the generator of a C0-semigroup {T(t); t0} defined on a Banach lattice E. It is shown that T(t) is a lattice homomorphism for all t>0 if and only if A satisfies <¦x¦, Ax>= (xD(A), x D(A)) (where q: EE is the evaluation mapping). This equality is used to obtain a spectral decomposition for generators of positive groups.  相似文献

LetX, Y be finite sets and suppose thatF is a collection of pairs of sets (F, G),FX,GY satisfying |FF|s, |GG|t and |FF|+|GG|s+t+1 for all (F, G),F, GF. Extending a result of Sali, we determine the maximum ofF.  相似文献

We prove that for some families of finite groups, the isomorphism class of the group is completely determined by its Burnside ring. Namely, we prove the following: if two finite simple groups have isomorphic Burnside rings, then the groups are isomorphic; if G is either Hamiltonian or abelian or a minimal simple group, and G is any finite group such that B(G) B(G), then G G.Received: 22 April 2004  相似文献

If T is a completely nonunitary contraction on a Hilbert space and L is its invariant subspace corresponding to a regular factorization of its characteristic function = , then L is hyperinvariant if and only if the following two conditions are fulfilled: (1) supp * supp is of Lebesgue measure zero; (2) for every pair A H (E E) and A * H (E * E *) intertwining by , i.e., such that A =A *, there exists a function A F H (F F) intertwining with A by and with A * by , i.e., such that A = A F and A F = A *. In this paper we study certain semisimple elements in simple complex Koecher-Tits-constructions from Jordan-triplesystems. Let L be a finite dimensional simple complex Lie-Algebra and u O an element in L with (ad u)3=-ad u. Then there is a compact real form L of L, which contains u. The involutorial automorphism idL+2 (adLu)2 of L induces a Cartan-decomposition of a real form L (u) of L and this gives us a criterion of conjugacy under Aut L for two such elements u1, u2L.Using this result, we show that the number of conjugacy classes of elements uL (u O) with (ad u)3=ad u (\{O}, under Aut L is equal to the number of similarity classes of Jordantriplesystems, the Koecher-Tits-construction of which is isomorphic to L. The corresponding data are finally listed for all possible types of L.  相似文献

We present two convergence theorems for Hamilton-Jacobi equations and we apply them to the convergence of approximations and perturbations of optimal control problems and of two-players zero-sum differential games. One of our results is, for instance, the following. LetT andT h be the minimal time functions to reach the origin of two control systemsy = f(y, a) andy = f h (y, a), both locally controllable in the origin, and letK be any compact set of points controllable to the origin. If f hf Ch, then |T(x) – T h (x)| C K h , for all x K, where is the exponent of Hölder continuity ofT(x).  相似文献

Summary Let i: M M be an immersion of complex manifolds, and let (, ) be a complex of holomorphic Hermitian vector bundles on M which provides a projective resolution of the sheaf of sections of a holomorphic vector bundle on M. We study the convergence as u + of a class of superconnection currents u introduced by Quillen, and we calculate the limit. Microlocal estimates of the speed of convergence are also given.  相似文献

In this paper we study some properties of the flag space () of a topological projective plane . The line set, sayL, of (), splits into two subfamiliesL 0 andL 1 which an non-trivial partitions of the point set of (). For any two distinct lines , ' belonging to one of the two subfamilies, there is exactly one line in the other subfamily meeting botl and '; turns out to be a continuous mapping of (-,'–. Further, the intersection o: two lines, having exactly one point in common, is a continuous and open mapping. Conversely, every irreducible semilinear space, satisfying the above properties, is isomor phic to the flag space of a topological projective plane. This paper has been prepared from some results of a research project supported by N.A.T.O.  相似文献

We show the existence, for an arbitrary vector measure: x (where X is a Banach space and gs is a-algebra of subsets of a set S) of a functional x X (X is the conjugate space of X) such that is absolutely continuous with respect to x, x (E)=(E)>, E gs.Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, Vol. 7, No. 2, pp. 247–254, February, 1970.  相似文献

We classify the finite linear spaces for which there is an integer d1 such that for any ordered pair (L,L) of disjoint lines and for any point x outside L and L, there are exactly d1 lines through x intersecting L but not L. Unless all lines have size 2, such a space is necessarily a semi-affine plane or a generalized projective 3-space.  相似文献

For a posetP, let Aut (P) denote the automorphism group ofP and let Fp (P) be the subposet of all fixed points of Aut (P). It is shown that for every posetP and every nontrivial groupG the posetsP satisfying Aut (P)G and Fp(P)=P form a proper class.Similarly, for a latticeL, let Aut (L) denote the automorphism group and Fp(L) the sublattice of fixed points. It is shown that ifL has more than one element andG is a nontrivial group then the latticesL for which Aut (L)G and Fp(L)=L also form a proper class. Moreover, if card (L)1 then this is still the case providingG is an infinite group. Since card (L)2 when Aut (L) is finite, this is the best possible result. With 3 FiguresThe support of the National Research Council of Canada is gratefully acknowledged.  相似文献

Two pointsC andC in the interior of a convex domain in the plane have the property that each chord ofK throughC has the same length as the parallel chord throughC. ThenK is necessarily centrally symmetric about the mid-point ofCC.  相似文献

The first part of this paper describes the construction of pseudo-Riemannian homogeneous spaces with special curvature properties such as Einstein spaces, using corresponding known compact Riemannian ones. This construction is based on the notion of a certain duality between compact and non-compact homogeneous spaces. In the second part we apply this method to obtain pseudo-Riemannian homogeneous manifolds with real Killing spinors. We will prove that under a certain additional condition a dual pseudo-Riemannian space (G/H, g) of a compact Riemannian homogeneous space (G/H, g) with homogeneousSpin-structure admits a homogeneousSpin +-structure and theG_invariant Killing spinors on (G/H, g) correspond toG-invariant Killing spinors on (G/H, g). We can ensure that in most cases the hypothesis onG-invariance is satisfied.  相似文献

For a given subset A of the set R of real numbers, we defined M(A) as the infimum of all the lengths of the finite intervals I such that there exists a sequence of real numbers in I such that A is the associated normal set B(). We prove that if A is a subset of A, such that all the multiples k.a' belongs to A (for each non zero integer k and each element a of A), then M(A) is less or equal to 2.M(A). Thus the family of the subsets A such that M(A) is finite is closed under intersection and finite union.  相似文献

In this work we develop techniques for the study of nonlinear functionals of a -valued Wiener processW t, where is the dual of a countably Hilbert nuclear space. We construct stochastic integrals and multiple Wiener integrals of operator-valued processes with respect toW t. The Wiener decomposition of the space of -valued nonlinear functionals ofW t is established. We also obtain multiple stochastic integral expansions and representations of -valued nonlinear functionals ofW t as operator-valued stochastic integrals of Itô type. This research was partially supported by CONACYT grants 22537 and PCEXCNA-040651, and Air Force Office of Scientific Research No. F49620 85 C 0144.Presently at CIMAT, A.P. 402 Guanajuato 36000, GTO, México.  相似文献

Let L/k be a finite field extension and let (V, B) be a finite dimensional symplectic space over L. We examine the action of the symplectic group Sp L (V) on the set of B-isotropic k-subspaces of V, where BB is the k-symplectic form induced by a trace map :Lk. The orbits are completely classified in the case of a quadratic extension and for maximal B-isotropic subspaces in the case of a cubic extension; the number of orbits of maximal B-isotropic subspaces is shown to be infinite if the degree of the extension is at least 4.  相似文献

Let (M, E) be a Finsler manifold. A triplet (¯D, ¯h, ) is said to be a Wagner connection on M if (¯D, ¯h) is a Finsler connection, C (M) and the axioms (W1)–(W4), formulated originally by M. Hashiguchi, are satisfied. Then ¯h is called a Wagner endomorphism on M. We establish an explicit relation between the (canonical) Barthel endomorphism of (M, E) and a Wagner endomorphism ¯h. We show that the second Cartan tensors ¯C, ¯C b belonging to ¯h are symmetric and totally symmetric, respectively. An explicit relation between the "canonical" tensors C, C b and the "Wagnerian" ones is also derived. We can conclude that the rules of calculation with respect to a Wagner connection are formally the same as those with respect to the classical Cartan connection. We establish some basic curvature identities concerning a Wagner connection, including Bianchi identities. Finally, we present a new, intrinsic definition as well as several tensorial characterizations of Wagner manifolds.  相似文献

If a GQ S of order (s, s) is contained in a GQ S of order (s, s 2) as a subquadrangle, then for each point X of S\S the set of points of S collinear with X form an ovoid of S. Thas and Payne proved that if S= (4,q),q even, and is an elliptic quadric for each XS\S,thenS (5,q). In this paper we provide a single proof for the q odd and q even cases by establishing a link between the geometry involved and the first cohomology group of a related simplicial complex.  相似文献
