A bioactive Schiff base HL i.e. 2‐hydroxy‐benzoic acid(3,4‐dihydro‐2H ‐naphthalen‐1‐ylidene)‐hydrazide was synthesized by reacting equimolar amount of salicylic acid hydrazide and 1‐tetralone. Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) complexes of ligand HL was synthesized in 1:1 and 1:2 molar ratio of metal to ligand. The structure of the synthesized ligand and metal complexes was established by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, electronic, IR and EPR spectral techniques. For determining the thermal stability the TGA has been done. In DFT studies the geometries of Schiff bases and metal complexes were fully optimized with respect to the energy using the 6–31 + g(d,p) basis set. Spectral data reveal that ligand behave uninegative tridentate in ML complexes and uninegative bidentate in ML2 complexes. On the basis of characterization octahedral geometry has been assigned for Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes, while tetrahedral for Zn(II) complexes. Antibacterial activity of the synthesized compounds were evaluated against Staphylococcus aureus , Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli , Xanthomonas campestris and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and the results revealed that metal complexes show enhanced activity in comparison to free ligand.  相似文献

New metal ion complexes were isolated after coupling with 4‐(2,4‐dihydroxy‐5‐formylphen‐1‐ylazo)‐N ‐(4‐methylpyrimidin‐2‐yl)benzenesulfonamide (H2L) drug ligand. The structural and molecular formulae of drug derivative and its complexes were elucidated using spectral, analytical and theoretical tools. Vibrational spectral data proved that H2L behaves as a monobasic bidentate ligand through one nitrogen from azo group and ionized hydroxyl oxygen towards all metal ions. UV–visible and magnetic moment measurements indicated that Fe(III), Cr(III), Mn(II) and Ni(II) complexes have octahedral configuration whereas Cd(II), Zn(II) and Co(II) complexes are in tetrahedral form. The Cu(II)complex has square planar geometry as verified through electron spin resonance essential parameters. X‐ray diffraction data indicated the amorphous nature of all compounds with no regular arrangement for the solid constituents during the precipitation process. Transmission electron microscopy images showed homogeneous metal ion distribution on the surface of the complexes with nanometric particles. Coats–Redfern equations were applied for calculating thermo‐kinetic parameters for suitable thermal decomposition stages. Gaussian09 and quantitative structure–activity relationship modelling studies were used to verify the structural and biological features. Docking study using microorganism protein receptors was implemented to throw light on the biological behaviour of the proposed drug. The investigated ligand and metal complexes were screened for their in vitro antimicrobial activities against fungal and bacterial strains. The resulting data indicated that the investigated compounds are highly promising bactericides and fungicides. The antitumour activities of all compounds were evaluated towards human liver carcinoma (HEPG2) cell line.  相似文献

Transition metal (Cu(II), Zn(II), Co(II)) complexes of N‐(4,6‐dimethoxypyrimidin‐2‐ylcarbamothioyl)benzamide were prepared. The structures of all the newly synthesized complexes were identified by elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR, XPS, MS and TG. Their herbicidal activities were evaluated against a variety of weeds. The preliminary results showed that the target complexes had moderate biological activities against both broad leaf weeds and monocotyledon plants. More importantly, the complexes exhibited some improved herbicidal activities over their non‐complexed counterparts. The present work provides a novel class of transition metal‐based derivatives with potent herbicidal activities for further optimization.  相似文献

Sulfonamide‐derived new ligands, 4‐({[(E)‐(5‐bromo‐2‐hydroxyphenyl)methylidene]‐amino}methyl)benzenesulfonamide and 4‐bromo‐2‐((E)‐{4‐[(3,4‐dimethylisoxazol‐5‐yl)sulfamoyl]phenyl}iminiomethyl)phenolate and their transition metal [cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II)] complexes were synthesized and characterized. The nature of bonding and structure of all the synthesized compounds were deduced from physical (magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements), spectral (IR, 1H and 13C NMR, electronic, mass spectrometry) and analytical (CHN analysis) data. The structure of the ligand, 4‐bromo‐2‐((E)‐{4‐[(3,4‐dimethylisoxazol‐5‐yl)sulfamoyl]phenyl} iminiomethyl)phenolate was also determined by X‐ray diffraction method. An octahedral geometry was suggested for all the complexes. In order to evaluate the biological activity of the ligands and the effect of metals, the ligands and their metal complexes were screened for in vitro antibacterial, antifungal and cytotoxic activity. The results of these studies revealed that all compounds showed moderate to significant antibacterial activity against one or more bacterial strains and good antifungal activity against various fungal strains. In this work, (Z)‐N‐benzoyl‐N′‐(1H‐1,2,4‐triazol‐3‐yl)carbamimidothioic acid and its Mn(II), Co(II), Cu(II) and Cd(II) complexes were introduced for the first time. This carbonyl thiourea ligand was prepared by the reaction of 1H‐1,2,4‐triazol‐3‐amine with benzoyl isothiocyanate. The structural elucidation of these compounds was performed using elemental analysis and spectral and magnetic measurements. Octahedral structures of all complexes, except Cd(II) complex with a tetrahedral geometry, were confirmed by applying DFT structural optimization. The thermal decomposition behaviour of metal complexes of carbonyl thiourea ligand is discussed. The calculation of kinetic parameters for prepared complexes (Ea, A, ΔH*, ΔS* and ΔG*) of all thermal degradation stages has been evaluated using two comparable approaches. Antimicrobial and ABTS‐antioxidant studies indicated potent activity of Cd(II) complex compared with the other investigated compounds. The cytotoxic activity of the prepared compounds was investigated in vitro. The results indicated potent activity of Mn(II) complex against both HePG2 (liver carcinoma) and MCF‐7 (breast carcinoma) cancer cells.  相似文献

The preparation and characterization of three metal(II) chlorido complexes with 1,2‐di(1H‐tetrazol‐1‐yl)ethane (dte) ( 1 ) as ligand is presented. The complexes have the following formula: [CoCl2(μ‐dte)(dte)2]n ( 2 ), [CuCl2(μ‐dte)2]n ( 3 ), and [Cd(μ‐Cl)2(μ‐dte)]n ( 4 ). Single crystal X‐ray diffraction of all three metal complexes was performed and the structures are discussed. All three central metal atoms are connected to polynuclear structures by the μ‐bridging ligand. Cobalt and copper are connected to one‐dimensional chains. The central cadmium(II) atoms are additionally connected by the chloride anions to a two‐dimensional network. Further, the cobalt(II) complex represents a special case with two terminal dte ligands.  相似文献

Several novel substituted bis(2‐pyridylimino)isoindolato (BPI) cobalt(II) and iron(II) complexes [M(BPI)(OAc)(H2O)] (M = Co: 1 ‐ 6, Fe: 7) have been synthesized by reaction of bis(2‐pyridylimino)isoindole derivatives with the corresponding metal(II) acetates. Reaction of 1‐6 with 1.5 ‐ 2 molar equivalents of t‐BuOOH gave the corresponding alkylperoxocobalt(III) complexes [Co(BPI)(OAc)(OOtBu)] (10 ‐ 15). Using an aqueous solution of t‐BuOOH (70 %), cyclohexene was selectively catalytically oxidized to the dialkylperoxide cyclohex‐2‐ene‐1‐t‐butylperoxide.  相似文献

D‐glucosamine Schiff base N‐(2‐deoxy‐β‐D‐glucopyranosyl‐2‐salicylaldimino) and its Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes were synthesized and characterized. The hydrolysis of p‐nitrophenyl picolinate (PNPP) catalyzed by ligand and complexes was investigated kinetically by observing the rates of the release of p‐nitrophenol in the aqueous buffers at 25°C and different pHs. The scheme for reaction acting mode involving a ternary complex composed of ligand, metal ion, and substrate was established and the reaction mechanisms were discussed by metal–hydroxyl and Lewis acid mechanisms. The experimental results indicated that the complexes, especially the Cu(II) complex, efficiently catalyzed the hydrolysis of PNPP. The catalytic reactivity of the Zn(II) complex was much smaller than the Cu(II) complex. The rate constant kN showing the catalytic reactivity of the Cu(II) complex was determined to be 0.299 s?1 (at pH 8.02) in the buffer. The pKa of hydroxyl group of the ternary complex was determined to be 7.86 for the Cu(II) complex. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet 34: 345–350, 2002  相似文献

New Mn(II), Ni(II), Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes of an azo dye ligand based on p ‐phenylenediamine with 5‐nitro‐8‐hydroxyquinoline were synthesized and characterized using elemental analysis, inductive coupled plasma analysis, molar conductance, powder X‐ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, magnetic moment measurements, and infrared, 1H NMR, electron ionization mass and UV–visible spectral studies. The spectral and analytical data reveal that the azo dye ligand acts as a monobasic bidentate ligand via deprotonated OH and nitrogen atom of the quinoline ring. The data support the formulation of all complexes with a 2:1 ligand‐to‐metal ratio, except the Mn(II) complex that has a mononuclear formula. All complexes have an octahedral structure. The molar conductance data reveal that all the metal complexes are non‐electrolytic in nature. From the X‐ray data, the average particle size of the ligand and its complexes is 0.32–0.64 nm. The colour fastness to light, washing, perspiration, sublimation and rubbing of the prepared ligand and its complexes on polyester fabrics and colorimetric properties were measured. The results reveal that the ligand and its complexes have a good to moderate affinity to polyester fibres.  相似文献

A novel tetradentate dianionic Schiff base ligand, N ,N ′‐bis(2‐carboxyphenylimine)‐2,5‐thiophenedicarboxaldhyde (H2L) and some first row d‐transition metal chelates (Co(II), Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II)) were synthesized and characterized using various physicochemical and spectroscopic methods. The spectroscopic data suggested that the parent Schiff base ligand coordinates through both deprotonated carboxylic oxygen and imine nitrogen atoms. The free Schiff base and its metal chelates were screened for their antimicrobial activities for various pathogenic bacteria and fungi using the agar well diffusion method. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of all the newly synthesized compounds are significant compared to the standard drugs ciprofloxacin and nystatin. The antioxidant activities of the compounds were determined by reduction of 1,1‐diphenyl‐2‐picrylhydrazyl and compared with that of vitamin C as a standard. DNA binding ability of the novel Schiff base and its complexes was investigated using absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, viscosity measurements and thermal denaturation. The obtained results clearly demonstrate that the binding affinity with calf thymus DNA follows the order: Cu(II) complex > Ni(II) complex > Zn(II) complex > Co(II) complex >H2L. Furthermore, the DNA cleavage activity of the newly synthesized ligand and its metal complexes was investigated using supercoiled plasmid DNA (pUC18) gel electrophoresis.  相似文献

A new Schiff base was prepared as the condensation product of the reaction of 2‐quinoline carboxaldehyde and ambroxol drug. The Schiff base ligand thus obtained (HL; trans‐4‐[(2‐(2‐quinolinoimino)‐3,5‐dibromobenzyl)amino]cyclohexanol) was further employed as a tridentate ligand for the synthesis of new complexes through reaction with Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) metal ions. The synthesized HL and its metal complexes were characterized using various physicochemical techniques including elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared and UV–visible spectroscopies, conductimetric and magnetic susceptibility measurements, mass spectrometry and thermal analyses. 1H NMR data indicated that complex formation was through the amino group rather than the aliphatic hydroxyl group. Thermal analysis gave an idea about the decomposition pattern of HL and its complexes. Also, it revealed the number of water molecules in the inner and outer spheres of the complexes. An octahedral geometry for all the complexes has been suggested. HL and its complexes were screened for their antimicrobial activity against various species of bacteria and fungi using the disc diffusion method. The Cr(III) complex had the highest antimicrobial activity.  相似文献

Schiff base complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II), Cd(II), and Zn(II) with 3‐(2‐(2‐oxo‐2H ‐chromene‐3‐carbonyl)hydrazono)‐N ‐(pyridin‐2‐yl)butanamide (H2L) were produced. The synthesized compounds were deduced by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, and spectroscopic techniques. The geometry of the prepared complexes was estimated by applying DFT method. Also, Cu(II) and Zn(II) were separated using a simple, quick, and low‐cost quantitative flotation technique preceding to their determinations using atomic absorption spectrophotometric (AAS). Additionally, the biological activities (antimicrobial, antioxidant, and cytotoxic) of isolated compounds were carried out.  相似文献

A new polyester, poly‐(ethylene oxamide‐N,N′‐diacetate) (PEODA), containing glycine moiety was synthesized by the reaction of oxamide‐N,N′‐diacetic acid and ethylene glycol and its polymer–metal complexes were synthesized with transition metal ions. The monomer oxamide‐N,N′‐diacetic acid was prepared by the reaction of glycine and diethyl oxalate. The polymer and its metal complexes were characterized by elemental analysis and other spectroscopic techniques. The in vitro antibacterial activities of all the synthesized polymers were investigated against some bacteria and fungi. The analytical data revealed that the coordination polymers of Mn(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) are coordinated with two water molecules, which are further supported by FTIR spectra and TGA data. The polymer–metal complexes showed excellent antibacterial activities against both types of microorganisms; the polymeric ligand was also found to be effective but less so than the polymer–metal complexes. On the basis of the antimicrobial behavior, these polymers may be used as antifungal and antifouling coating materials in fields like life‐saving medical devices and the bottoms of ships. Owing to increasing interest in the use of N‐heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) based on imidazolidinium ions as ligands in the design of highly efficient transition‐metal‐based homogeneous catalysts, the characterizations of the 1‐ferrocenylmethyl‐3‐(2,4,6‐trimethylbenzyl)imidazolidin‐3‐ium iodide salt, [Fe(C5H5)(C19H24N2)]I, (I), and the palladium complex trans‐bis(3‐benzyl‐1‐ferrocenylmethyl‐1H‐imidazolidin‐2‐ylidene)diiodidopalladium(II), [Fe2Pd(C5H5)2(C16H17N2)2I2], (II), are reported. Compound (I) has two iodide anions and two imidazolidinium cations within the asymmetric unit (Z′ = 2). The two cations have distinctly different conformations, with the ferrocene groups orientated exo and endo with respect to the N‐heterocyclic carbene. Weak C—H donor hydrogen bonds to both the iodide anions and the π system of the mesitylene group combine to form two‐dimensional layers perpendicular to the crystallographic c direction. Only one of the formally charged imidazolidinium rings forms a near‐linear hydrogen bond with an iodide anion. Complex (II) shows square‐planar coordination around the PdII metal, which is located on an inversion centre (Z′ = 0.5). The ferrocene and benzyl substituents are in a transanti arrangement. The Pd—C bond distance between the N‐heterocyclic carbene ligands and the metal atom is 2.036 (7) Å. A survey of related structures shows that the lengthening of the N—C bonds and the closure of the N—C—N angle seen here on metal complexation is typical of similar NHCs and their complexes.  相似文献

In the three title complexes, namely (2,2′‐biquinoline‐κ2N,N′)dichloropalladium(II), [PdCl2(C18H12N2)], (I), and the corresponding copper(II), [CuCl2(C18H12N2)], (II), and zinc(II) complexes, [ZnCl2(C18H12N2)], (III), each metal atom is four‐coordinate and bonded by two N atoms of a 2,2′‐biquinoline molecule and two Cl atoms. The PdII atom has a distorted cis‐square‐planar coordination geometry, whereas the CuII and ZnII atoms both have a distorted tetrahedral geometry. The dihedral angles between the N—M—N and Cl—M—Cl planes are 14.53 (13), 65.42 (15) and 85.19 (9)° for (I), (II) and (III), respectively. The structure of (II) has twofold imposed symmetry.  相似文献

Chiral separation of dausyl amino acids by capillary electrophoresis using mixed selectors of Mn(ll)-L-alanine complex and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) was studied. Resolution was considerably superior to that obtained by using either Mn (Ⅱ)-L-alanine complex or β-CD alone. The effects of separation parameters, such as pH value of buffer solution, capillary temperature, the concentration of Mn (Ⅱ)-L-alanine complex, the types of CD and ligand on the migration times and resolutions were investigated. Six different transition metal complexes,Cu(Ⅱ), Zn(Ⅱ), Co(Ⅱ), Ni(Ⅱ), Hg(Ⅱ) and Cd(Ⅱ)-L-alanine complexes have been employed and compared with Mn(Ⅱ)complex. Differences in retention and selectivity were found. The substitution of Cu(Ⅱ), Zn(Ⅱ), Co(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) for Mn(Ⅱ) resulted in a better chiral resolution while Hg(Ⅱ) and Cd(Ⅱ) showed poorer resolution abilities. The chiral separation mechanism was also discussed briefly.  相似文献

A new 1,2‐dihydroquinazolinone, 2‐(2‐hydroxy‐phenyl)‐3‐[1‐(2‐oxo‐2H‐chromen‐3‐yl)‐ethylideneamino]‐2,3‐dihydro‐1H‐quinazolin‐4‐one (L) and its Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes have been prepared. These were characterized by elemental, spectral [UV–visible, IR, NMR (1H, 13C and 2D heteronuclear correlation) and mass], conductance, magnetic susceptibility and thermal studies. The physicochemical data indicate that the ligand behaves as tridentate with ONO donor sequence towards the metal ions, and trigonal bipyramidal geometry was assigned for complexes. The ligand and its metal complexes were evaluated for their in vivo anti‐inflammatory and analgesic activity. The tested compounds have shown excellent activity, which are almost equipotent to the standard used in the study. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The condensation of 2‐acetylferrocene with 4‐nitro‐1,2‐phenylenediamine in a 1:1 molar ratio, resulting in formation of a novel bi‐dentate organometallic Schiff base ligand (L), (2‐(1‐((2‐amino‐5‐nitrophenyl)imino)ethyl)cyclopenta‐2,4‐dien‐1‐yl)(cyclopenta‐2,4‐dien‐1‐yl)iron. Also, its Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes have been synthesized. The stoichiometric ratios of the prepared compounds were estimated using elemental analysis (C, H, N, M), molar conductivity, FT‐IR, UV‐Vis, 1H‐NMR, SEM and mass spectral analysis. Furthermore, their TG and DTG properties were studied. The geometrical structure of the complexes was found to be octahedral. From spectral analysis, the Schiff base coordinated to metal ions through the azomethine and amine groups. DFT‐based molecular orbital energy calculations of the synthesized ligand have been studied, in which the ligand was theoretically optimized. The Schiff base and its metal complexes have been screened for their antimicrobial activities against different bacterial and fungal species by using disc diffusion method. The anticancer activities of the ligand and its metal complexes have also been studied towards breast cancer (MCF‐7) and human normal melanocytes (HFB‐4) cell lines. Molecular docking was also used to identify the interaction between the Schiff base ligand and its Cd(II) complex with the active site of the receptors of breast cancer mutant oxidoreductase (PDB ID: 3HB5), crystal structure of Staphylococcus aureus (PDB ID: 3Q8U) and yeast‐specific serine/threonine protein phosphatase (PPZ1) of Candida albicans (PDB ID:5JPE).  相似文献

A new quinazolinone derivative, 3‐[1‐(2‐hydroxyphenyl)ethylideamino]‐2‐phenyl‐3,4‐dihydroquinazolin‐4(3H)‐one ( LH ) was synthesized by the condensation of 2‐hydroxyacetophenone‐2‐aminobenzoylhydrazone and benzaldehyde. The cyclization to form 1,2‐dihydroquinazolinone was confirmed by IR, 1D and 2D HETCOR studies. Coordination compounds of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) of LH were synthesized and characterized using various physico‐chemical studies like stoichiometric, conductivity, magnetic moment measurements and spectral techniques such as IR, NMR, UV‐vis and EPR spectroscopy. The elemental analysis and thermal studies suggested a general stoichiometry [M(HEPDQ)Cl] for all the complexes. A four‐coordinate geometry was assigned to all the complexes. The complexes along with the parent ligand were screened for their anti‐inflammatory activity, using carrageenan‐induced rat paw edema, and for their analgesic activity by Eddy's hot plate method. The activity of the ligand was enhanced on complexation with metal ions. This enhanced activity was attributed to the increased lipophilic nature of the complexes. Notable anti‐inflammatory activity was observed for Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes. The analgesic activity of the ligand was greater than the standard at 60 min. and at a 10 mg kg−1 dose, whereas the activity of Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes at 10 mg kg−1 dose was comparable with the standard used. Biologically active triazole Schiff bases ( L 1  L 3 ) derived from the reaction of 3‐amino‐1,2,4‐triazole with chloro‐, bromo‐ and nitro‐ substituted salicylaldehydes and their Zn(II) complexes (1–3) have been synthesized and characterized by their physical, spectral and analytical data. Triazole Schiff bases potentially act as tridentate ligands and coordinate with the Zn(II) metal atom through salicylidene‐O, azomethine‐N and triazole‐N. The complexes have the general formula [M(L‐H)2], where M = zinc(II) and L = ( L 1 – L 3 ), and observe an octahedral geometry. The Schiff bases and their Zn(II) complexes have been screened for in‐vitro antibacterial, antifungal and brine shrimp bioassay. The biological activity data show the Zn(II) complexes to be more potent antibacterial and antifungal than the parent simple Schiff bases. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
