Single, double and triple charging of poly(propylene glycol) (PPG) (Mn = 1900 g/mol) in the presence of binary mixtures of cations (Li+, Na+, K+, Cs+, and NH4+) under electrospray ionization (ESI) conditions were investigated. For these studies, sodium ion was selected as the reference cation, and the resulting ion-intensities were evaluated as a function of the [Na+]/[C+] ratio (where C+ is the other cation, i.e., Li+, K+, Cs+ and NH4+). A linear relationship was found between INa+/IC+)and [Na+]/[C+] (INa+ and IC+ stand for the intensity of the singly charged PPG molecules cationized with Na+ and C+ ions, respectively). The slope of the INa+/IC+--[Na+]/[C+] plot (alpha) indicates the binding selectivity of Na+ ions to PPG chains with respect to cation C+. In the case of the doubly charged PPG chains, the INaNa2+/INaC2+ and INaC2+/ICC2+ versus [Na+]/[C+] ratio also yield straight lines with slopes of approximately alpha/2 and 2alpha, respectively (INaNa2+, INaC2+ and ICC2+ are the intensity of the doubly charged PPG chains cationized with two Na+ ions, Na+ and C+ ions, and two C+ ions, respectively). Similarly, linear dependences with the [Na+]/[C+] ratio for the corresponding intensity ratios of the triply charged PPG were found. Based on the value of alpha, the selectivity of the cations was found to increase in the order of Li+ < Cs+ approximately Na+ < K+ approximately NH4+. The observed relative ion intensities are interpreted on the basis of the solution state equilibrium between PPG and the cations. In addition, the investigations showed that the abundances of the doubly and triply charged PPG-containing mixed cations can be optimized in a simple way using the value of alpha.  相似文献

An amperometric detector based on the chemical modification of Nafion and indium (III) hexacyanoferrate (II, III) thin film (Nafion/In-CN-Fe) onto a glassy carbon (GC) electrode, was first successfully used for the determination of electroinactive cations (Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+, Cs+, NH4+) in single column ion chromatography (IC). A set of well-defined peaks of electroinactive cations was obtained. The detection limits of the cations are 8.9 x 10(-6) mol/L for Li+, 2.3 x 10(-6) mol/L for Na+, 5.2 x 10(-6) mol/L for K+, 4.8 x 10(-6) mol/L for Rb+, 4.0 x 10(-6) mol/L for Cs+ and 5.3 x 10(-6) mol/L for NH4+ at a single-to-noise ratio of 3. The proposed method was quick, sensitive and simple. The cations in rainwater and mineral water were successfully analyzed by this method.  相似文献

A systematic study of cation-pi interactions between alkali metal ions and the cyclopentadienyl ring of ferrocene is presented. The alkali metal (Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+, Cs+) salts of the ditopic mono(pyrazol-1-yl)borate ligand [1,1'-fc(BMe2pz)2]2- crystallize from dimethoxyethane as multiple-decker sandwich complexes with the M+ ions bound to the pi faces of the ferrocene cyclopentadienyl rings in an eta5 manner (fc = (C5H4)2Fe; pz = pyrazolyl). X-ray crystallography of the lithium complex reveals discrete trimetallic entities with each lithium ion being coordinated by only one cyclopentadienyl ring. The sodium salt forms polyanionic zigzag chains where each Na+ ion bridges the cyclopentadienyl rings of two ferrocene moieties. Linear columns [-CpR-Fe-CpR-M+-CpR-Fe-CpR-M+-](infinity) (R = [-BMe2pz]-) are established by the K+, Rb+, and Cs+ derivatives in the solid state. According to DFT calculations, the binding enthalpies of M+-eta5(ferrocene) model complexes are about 20% higher as compared to the corresponding M+-eta6(benzene) aggregates when M+ = Li+ or Na+. For K+ and Rb+, the degree of cation-pi interaction with both aromatics is about the same. The binding sequence along the M+-eta5(ferrocene) series follows a classical electrostatic trend with the smaller ions being more tightly bound.  相似文献

Gibbs free energies, enthalpies and entropies for the binding of Na+, K+, Rb+, Cs+, Ag+, Tl+ and NH4+ by the p-sulfonatocalix[4]arene in water are determined by microcalorimetry. Whereas no significant heat effect is detected with Na+ or Ag+, suggesting that these cations are not complexed, weak but selective binding is observed with the other cations. The whole set of thermodynamic parameters, which demonstrate that the cations bind inside the cavity of the calixarene, evidence the importance of the cation-pi interactions for these complexes in water.  相似文献

We used both localized and periodic calculations on a series of monovalent (Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+, Cs+) and divalent (Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+, Ba2+) cations to monitor their effect on the swelling of clays. The activity order obtained for the exchangeable cations among all the monovalent and divalent series studied: Ca2+ > Sr2+ > Mg2+ > Rb+ > Ba2+ > Na+ > Li+ > Cs+ > K+. We have shown that, in case of dioctahedral smectite, the hydroxyl groups play a major role in their interaction with water and other polar molecules in the presence of an interlayer cation. We studied both type of clays, with a different surface structure and with/without water using a periodic calculation. Interlayer cations and charged 2:1 clay surfaces interact strongly with polar solvents; when it is in an aqueous medium, clay expands and the phenomenon is known as crystalline swelling. The extent of swelling is controlled by a balance between relatively strong swelling forces and electrostatic forces of attraction between the negatively charged phyllosilicate layer and the positively charged interlayer cation. We have calculated the solvation energy at the first hydration shell of an exchangeable cation, but the results do not correspond directly to the experimental d-spacing values. A novel quantitative scale is proposed with the numbers generated by the relative nucleophilicity of the active cation sites in their hydrated state through Fukui functions within the helm of the hard soft acid base principle. The solvation effect thus measured show a perfect match with experiment, which proposes that the reactivity index calculation with a first hydration shell could rationalize the swelling mechanism for exchangeable cations. The conformers after electron donation or acceptance propose the swelling mechanism for monovalent and divalent cations.  相似文献

Extraction of alkali metal picrates with N,N'-dibenzyl-18-crown-6 was carried out, with dichloromethane as water-immiscible solvent, as a function [ligand]/[metal cation]. The extractability of metal picrates (Li(+), Na(+), K(+), Rb(+), Cs(+)) was evaluated as a function of [L]/[M(+)]. The extractability of complex cation-picrate ion pairs decreases in this sequence: Li(+)>Rb(+)>Cs(+)>K(+)>Na(+). The overall extraction equilibrium constants (K(ex)) for complexes of N,N'-dibenzyl-18-crown-6 with alkali metal picrates between dichloromethane and water have been determined at 25 degrees C. The values of the extraction constants (logK(ex)) were determined to be 10.05, 6.83, 7.12, 7.83, 6.73 for Li(+), Na(+), K(+), Rb(+) and Cs(+) compounds, respectively. DB186 shows almost 2-fold extractability against Li(+) compared to the other metal picrates, whereas it shows no obvious extractability difference amongst the other metal cations when [L]/[M(+)] is 0.2-1. However, an increasing extractability is observed for Cs(+) when [L]/[M(+)] [1].  相似文献

FT-Raman spectrometry in combination with diffuse reflectance UV/Vis absorption (DRUVv) and fluorescence emission indicate that complete anthracene (ANT) sorption as intact molecules takes place over 6 months in the medium pores of non-Br?nsted acidic M(n)ZSM-5 zeolites (n=0.0, 3.4, 6.6; M=Na+, K+, Rb+, Cs+) with 1 ANT per unit cell loading. The combined effect of confinement and electrostatic field induced by bulky cations (Rb+, Cs+) leads to specific changes in the occluded ANT Raman spectra after very long organization periods (one year). The laser photolysis (266 nm, 355 nm) of ANT@M(n)ZSM-5 equilibrated samples generates long-lived charge separated species in aluminum rich zeolites (n=3.4, 6.6). The very long-lived radical pairs are characterized by conventional DRUVv and CW-EPR spectroscopy. The direct charge recombination rates of ANT.+-electron pairs are dispersive, extending over a broad range of timescales. The kinetic constant values are found to increase dramatically with the aluminum content and increase markedly with M+ according to the following order Na+ < K+ < Rb+ < Cs+. The small reorganization energy (lambda) of ZSM-5 zeolite pores coupled with large negative free energy changes (-DeltaG degrees ) between the ground state ANT oxidation potential and Fermi level of aluminum rich M(n)ZSM-5 explain the observed trends of the ANT.+@M(n)ZSM-5.- charge recombination rates.  相似文献

It has been shown that the DNA aptamer d(G(2)T(2)G(2)TGTG(2)T(2)G(2)) adopts an intramolecular G-quadruplex structure in the presence of K+. Its affinity for trombin has been associated with the inhibition of thrombin-catalyzed fibrin clot formation. In this work, we used a combination of spectroscopy, calorimetry, density, and ultrasound techniques to determine the spectral characteristics, thermodynamics, and hydration effects for the formation of G-quadruplexes with a variety of monovalent and divalent metal ions. The formation of cation-aptamer complexes is relatively fast and highly reproducible. The comparison of their CD spectra and melting profiles as a function of strand concentration shows that K+, Rb+, NH(4)+, Sr(2+), and Ba(2+) form intramolecular cation-aptamer complexes with transition temperatures above 25 degrees C. However, the cations Li+, Na+, Cs+, Mg(2+), and Ca(2+) form weaker complexes at very low temperatures. This is consistent with the observation that metal ions with ionic radii in the range 1.3-1.5 A fit well within the two G-quartets of the complex, while the other cations cannot. The comparison of thermodynamic unfolding profiles of the Sr(2+)-aptamer and K+ -aptamer complexes shows that the Sr(2+)-aptamer complex is more stable, by approximately 18 degrees C, and unfolds with a lower endothermic heat of 8.3 kcal/mol. This is in excellent agreement with the exothermic heats of -16.8 kcal/mol and -25.7 kcal/mol for the binding of Sr(2+) and K+ to the aptamer, respectively. Furthermore, volume and compressibility parameters of cation binding show hydration effects resulting mainly from two contributions: the dehydration of both cation and guanine atomic groups and water uptake upon the folding of a single-strand into a G- quadruplex structure.  相似文献

The reaction of [M(CN)6]3- (M = Cr3+, Fe3+, Co3+) with the nickel(II) complex of 2,4-diamino-1,3,5-triazin-6-yl-{3-(1,3,5,8,12-pentaazacyclotetradecane)} ([NiL]2+) in excess of ANO3 or ACl (A = Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+, Cs+, NH4+) leads to the cyano-bridged dinuclear assemblies A{[NiL][M(CN)6]}.xH2O (x = 2-5). X-ray structures of Li{[NiL][Cr(CN)6]}.5H2O, NH4{[NiL][Cr(CN)6]}.3.5H2O, K{[NiL][Cr(CN)6]}.4H2O, K{[NiL][Fe(CN)6]}.4H2O, Rb{[NiL][Fe(CN)6]}.3.5H2O, and Cs{[NiL][Fe(CN)6]}.3.5H2O, as well as the powder diffractometry of the entire Fe(III) series, are reported. The magnetic properties of the assemblies are dependent on the monocation A and discussed in detail. New efficient pathways for ferromagnetic exchange between Ni(II) and Fe(III) or Cr(III) are demonstrated. Field dependencies of the magnetization for the Fe(III) samples at low temperature and low magnetic field indicate a weak interchain antiferromagnetic coupling, which is switched to ferromagnetic coupling at increasing magnetic field (metamagnetic behavior). The interchain magnetic coupling can be tuned by the size of the A cations.  相似文献

The self-assembled guanosine (G 1)-based hexadecamers and isoguanosine (isoG 2)-based decamers are excellent 226Ra2+ selective ionophores even in the presence of excess alkali (Na+, K+, Rb+, and Cs+) and alkaline earth (Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+, and Ba2+) cations over the pH range 3-11. G 1 requires additional picrate anions to provide a neutral assembly, whereas the isoG 2 assembly extracts 226Ra2+ cations without any such additives. Both G 1-picrate and isoG 2 assemblies show 226Ra2+ extraction even at a 0.35 x 10(6) fold excess of Na+, K+, Rb+, Cs+, Mg2+, or Ca2+ (10(-2) M) to 226Ra2+ (2.9 x 10(-8) M) and at a 100-fold salt to ionophore excess. In the case of the G 1-picrate assembly, more competition was observed from Sr2+ and Ba2+, as extraction of 226Ra2+ ceased at an M2+/226Ra2+ ratio of 10(6) and 10(4), respectively. With the isoG 2 assembly, 226Ra2+ extraction also occurred at a Sr2+/226Ra2+ ratio of 10(6) but ceased at a 10(6) excess of Ba2+. The results clearly demonstrate the power of molecular self-assembly for the construction of highly selective ionophores.  相似文献

The distribution and dynamics of alkali cations inside Na-AOT reverse micelles have been investigated using Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics simulations. Water is modeled using the extended simple point charge (SPC/E) model. Simulations were carried out for alkali salts of Li+, Na+, K+, and Cs+ placed into the aqueous core of the reverse micelle, for situations corresponding to one and three molecules of added salt. In all cases, we observe that the larger K+ and Cs+ ions exchange with the Na+ counterion; however, the smaller Li+ ion prefers to remains solvated within the core of the reverse micelle. Our study reveals that the oil-water interface of the Na-AOT reverse micelle has the greatest selectivity toward Cs+ followed by K+ and Li+. A model based on enthalpic contributions illustrates that the solvation energies of the different cations in water control the ion-exchange process. The hydration number of the first water shell for Li+ situated in the aqueous core of the reverse micelle with radius R = 14.1 A was similar to that observed at infinite dilution in bulk water.  相似文献

Monovalent cations (M+ = Na+, K+, Rb+, and NH4+) and 12-crown-4 were assembled to new supramolecular cation (SC+) structures of the M+(12-crown-4)n (n = 1 and 2), which were incorporated into the electrically conducting Ni(dmit)2 salts (dmit = 2-thioxo-1,3-dithiole-4,5-dithiolate). The Na+, K+, and Rb+ salts are isostructural with a stoichiometry of the M+(12-crown-4)2[Ni(dmit)2]4, while the NH4+ salt has a stoichiometry of NH4+(12-crown-4)[Ni(dmit)2]3(CH3CN)2. The electrical conductivities of the Na+, K+, Rb+, and NH4+ salts at room temperature are 7.87, 4.46, 0.78, and 0.14 S cm-1, respectively, with a semiconducting temperature dependence. The SC+ structures of the Na+, K+, and Rb+ salts have an ion-capturing sandwich-type cavity of M+(12-crown-4)2, in which the M+ ion is coordinated by eight oxygen atoms of the two 12-crown-4 molecules. On the other hand, the NH4+ ion is coordinated by four oxygen atoms of the 12-crown-4 molecule. Judging from the M(+)-O distances, thermal parameters of oxygen atoms, and vibration spectra, the thermal fluctuation of the Na+(12-crown-4)2 structure is larger than those of K+(12-crown-4)2 and Rb+(12-crown-4)2. The SC+ unit with the larger alkali metal cation gave a stress to the Ni(dmit)2 column, and the SC+ structure changed the pi-pi overlap mode and electrically conducting behavior.  相似文献

Interactions between metal ions and amino acids are common both in solution and in the gas phase. Here, the effect of metal ions and water on the structure of glycine is examined. The effect of metal ions (Li+, Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+) and water on structures of Gly.Mn+(H2O)m and GlyZwitt.Mn+(H2O)m (m = 0, 2, 5) complexes have been determined theoretically by employing the hybrid B3LYP exchange-correlation functional and using extended basis sets. Selected calculations were carried out also by means of CBS-QB3 model chemistry. The interaction enthalpies, entropies, and Gibbs energies of eight complexes Gly.Mn+ (Mn+ = Li+, Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+) were determined at the B3LYP density functional level of theory. The computed Gibbs energies DeltaG degrees are negative and span a rather broad energy interval (from -90 to -1100 kJ mol(-1)), meaning that the ions studied form strong complexes. The largest interaction Gibbs energy (-1076 kJ mol(-1)) was computed for the NiGly2+ complex. Calculations of the molecular structure and relative stability of the Gly.Mn+(H2O)m and GlyZwitt.Mn+(H2O)m (Mn+ = Li+, Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+; m = 0, 2, and 5) systems indicate that in the complexes with monovalent metal cations the most stable species are the NO coordinated metal cations in non-zwitterionic glycine. Divalent cations Mg2+, Ca2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+ prefer coordination via the OO bifurcated bonds of the zwitterionic glycine. Stepwise addition of two and five water molecules leads to considerable changes in the relative stability of the hydrated species. Addition of two water molecules at the metal ion in both Gly.Mn+ and GlyZwitt.Mn+ complexes reduces the relative stability of metallic complexes of glycine. For Mn+ = Li+ or Na+, the addition of five water molecules does not change the relative order of stability. In the Gly.K+ complex, the solvation shell of water molecules around K+ ion has, because of the larger size of the potassium cation, a different structure with a reduced number of hydrogen-bonded contacts. This results in a net preference (by 10.3 kJ mol(-1)) of the GlyZwitt.K+H2O5 system. Addition of five water molecules to the glycine complexes containing divalent cations Mg2+, Ca2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+ results in a net preference for non-zwitterionic glycine species. The computed relative Gibbs energies are quite high (-10 to -38 kJ mol(-1)), and the NO coordination is preferred in the Gly.Mn+(H2O)5 (Mn+ = Mg2+, Ca2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+) complexes over the OO coordination.  相似文献

The vibrational, Raman, and IR, spectra of the five 12-crown-4 (12c4) complexes with Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+, and Cs+ alkali metal cations were measured. Except for a small shift of the position of some bands in the vibrational spectra of the Li+ complex, the vibrational spectra of the five complexes are so similar that it is concluded that the five complexes exist in the same conformation. B3LYP/6-31+G* force fields were calculated for six of the eight predicted conformations in a previous report (J. Phys. Chem. A 2005, 109, 8041) of the 12c4-Li+, Na+, and K+ complexes that are of symmetries higher than the C1 symmetry. These six conformations, in energy order, are of C4, Cs, Cs, C(2v), C(2v), and Cs symmetries. Comparison between the experimental and calculated vibrational frequencies assuming any of the above-mentioned six conformations shows that the five complexes exist in the C4 conformation. This agrees with the fact that the five alkali metal cations are larger than the 12c4 ring cavity. The B3LYP/6-31+G* force fields of the C4 conformation of the Li+, Na+ and K+ complexes were scaled using a set of eight scale factors and the scale factors were varied so as to minimize the difference between the calculated and experimental vibrational frequencies. The root-mean-square (rms) deviations of the calculated frequencies from the experimental frequencies were 7.7, 5.6, and 5.1 cm(-1) for the Li+, Na+, and K+ complexes, respectively. To account for the earlier results of the Li+ complex that the Cs conformation is more stable than the C4 conformation by 0.16 kcal/mol at the MP2/6-31+G* level, optimized geometries of the complex were calculated for the C4 and Cs conformations at the MP2/6-311++G** level. The C4 conformation was calculated to be more stable than the Cs conformation by 0.13 kcal/mol.  相似文献

Li+ ions can interplay with other cations intrinsically present in the intra- and extra-cellular space (i.e. Na+, K+, Mg2+ and Ca2+) have therapeutic effects (e.g. in the treatment of bipolar disorder) or toxic effects (at higher doses), likely because Li+ interferes with the intra-/extra-cellular concentration gradients of the mentioned physiologically relevant cations. The cellular transmembrane transport can be modelled by molybdenum-oxide-based Keplerates, i.e. nano-sized porous capsules containing 132 Mo centres, monitored through 6/7Li as well as 23Na NMR spectroscopy. The effects on the transport of Li+ cations through the 'ion channels' of these model cells, caused by variations in water amount, temperature, and by the addition of organic cationic 'plugs' and the shift reagent [Dy(PPP)2](7-) are reported. In the investigated solvent systems, water acts as a transport mediator for Li+. Likewise, the counter-transport (Li+/Na+, Li+/K+, Li+/Cs+ and Li+/Ca2+) has been investigated by 7Li NMR and, in the case of Li+/Na+ exchange, by 23Na NMR, and it has been shown that most (in the case of Na+ and K+, all (Ca2+) or almost none (Cs+) of the Li cations is extruded from the internal sites of the artificial cell to the extra-cellular medium, while Na+, K+ and Ca2+ are partially incorporated.  相似文献

A series of tetracyanoborate salts M[B(CN)4] with the singly charged cations of Li+, Na+, Rb+, Cs+, [NH4]+, Tl+, and Cu+ as well as the THF solvate tetracyanoborates Na[B(CN)4] x THF and [NH4][B(CN)4] x THF were synthesized and their X-ray structures, vibrational spectra, solubilities in water, and thermal stabilities determined and compared with already known M[B(CN)4] salts. Crystallographic data for these compounds are as follows: Na[B(CN)4], cubic, Fd3m, a = 11.680(1) A, Z= 8; Li[B(CN)4], cubic, P43m, a = 5.4815(1) A, Z= 1; Cu[B(CN)4], cubic, P43m, a = 5.4314(7) A, Z= 1; Rb[B(CN)4], tetragonal, /4(1)/a, a = 7.1354(2) A, c= 14.8197(6) A, Z= 4; Cs[B(CN)4], tetragonal, /4(1)/a, a = 7.300(2) A, c = 15.340(5) A, Z= 4; [NH4][B(CN)4], tetragonal, /4(1)/a, a = 7.132(1) A, c = 14.745(4) A, Z= 4; Tl[B(CN)4], tetragonal, /4(1)/a, a = 7.0655(2) A, c = 14.6791(4) A, Z= 4; Na[B(CN)4] x THF, orthorhombic, Pnma, a = 13.908(3) A, b = 9.288(1) A, c = 8.738(1) A, Z= 4; [NH4][B(CN)4] x THF, orthorhombic, Pnma, a = 8.831(1) A, b = 9.366(2) A, c = 15.061(3) A, Z= 4. The cubic Li+, Na+, and Cu+ salts crystallize in a structure consisting of two interpenetrating independent tetrahedral networks of M cations and [B(CN)4]- ions. The compounds with the larger countercations (Rb+, Cs+, Tl+, and [NH4]+) crystallize as tetragonal, also with a network arrangement. The sodium and ammonium salts with the cocrystallized THF molecules are both orthorhombic but are not isostructural. In the vibrational spectra the two CN stretching modes A1 and T2 coincide in general and the band positions are a measure for the strength of the interionic interaction. An interesting feature in the Raman spectrum of the copper salt is the first appearance of two CN stretching modes.  相似文献

We show in this paper how the 3MLCT luminescence of [Ru(bipy)(CN)4]2-, which is known to be highly solvent-dependent, may be varied over a much wider range than can be achieved by solvent effects, by interaction of the externally directed cyanide ligands with additional metal cations both in the solid state and in solution. A series of crystallographic studies of [Ru(bipy)(CN)4]2- salts with different metal cations Mn+ (Li+, Na+, K+, mixed Li+/K+, Cs+, and Ba2+) shows how the cyanide/Mn+ interaction varies from the conventional "end-on" with the more Lewis-acidic cations (Li+, Ba2+) to the more unusual "side-on" interaction with the softer metal cations (K+, Cs+). The solid-state luminescence intensity and lifetime of these salts is highly dependent on the nature of the cation, with Cs+ affording the weakest luminescence and Ba2+ the strongest. A series of titrations of the more soluble derivative [Ru(tBu2bipy)(CN)4]2- in MeCN with a range of metal salts showed how the cyanide/Mn+ association results in a substantial blue-shift of the 1MLCT absorptions, and 3MLCT energies, intensities, and lifetimes, with the complex varying from essentially non-luminescent in the absence of metal cation to showing strong (phi = 0.07), long-lived (1.4 micros), and high-energy (583 nm) luminescence in the presence of Ba2+. This modulation of the 3MLCT energy, over a range of about 6000 cm-1 depending on the added cation, could be used to reverse the direction of photoinduced energy transfer in a dyad containing covalently linked [Ru(bipy)3]2+ and [Ru(bipy)(CN)4]2- termini. In the absence of a metal cation, the [Ru(bipy)(CN)4]2- terminus has the lower 3MLCT energy and thereby quenches the [Ru(bipy)3]2+-based luminescence; in the presence of Ba2+ ions, the 3MLCT energy of the [Ru(bipy)(CN)4]2- terminus is raised above that of the [Ru(bipy)3]2+ terminus, resulting in energy transfer to and sensitized emission from the latter.  相似文献

The gas-phase structures of alkali-metal cation complexes of serine (Ser) are examined using infrared multiple photon dissociation (IRMPD) spectroscopy utilizing light generated by a free electron laser, in conjunction with ab initio calculations. Spectra of Li+(Ser) and Na+(Ser) are similar and relatively simple, whereas Cs+(Ser) includes distinctive new IR bands, and K+(Ser) and Rb+(Ser) exhibit intermediate behavior. Measured IRMPD spectra are compared to spectra calculated at a B3LYP/6-311+G(d,p) level to identify the structures present in the experimental studies. On the basis of these experiments and calculations, the only conformations accessed for the complexes to the smaller alkali-metal cations, Li+ and Na+, are charge-solvated structures involving tridentate coordination to the amine and carbonyl groups of the amino acid backbone and to the hydroxyl group of the side chain, M1[N,CO,OH]. For the cesiated complex, a band corresponding to a zwitterionic structure, ZW[CO2-], is clearly visible. K+(Ser) and Rb+(Ser) exhibit evidence of the charge-solvated analogue of the zwitterions, M3[COOH], in which the metal cation binds to the carboxylic acid group. Calculations indicate that the relative stability of the M3[COOH] structure is very strongly dependent on the size of the metal cation, consistent with the range of conformations observed experimentally.  相似文献

The structures of cationized arginine complexes [Arg + M]+, (M = H, Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, and Ag) and protonated arginine methyl ester [ArgOMe + H]+ have been investigated in the gas phase using calculations and infrared multiple-photon dissociation spectroscopy between 800 and 1900 cm-1 in a Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometer. The structure of arginine in these complexes depends on the identity of the cation, adopting either a zwitterionic form (in salt-bridge complexes) or a non-zwitterionic form (in charge-solvated complexes). A diagnostic band above 1700 cm-1, assigned to the carbonyl stretch, is observed for [ArgOMe + H]+ and [Arg + M]+, (M = H, Li, and Ag), clearly indicating that Arg in these complexes is non-zwitterionic. In contrast, for the larger alkali-metal cations (K+, Rb+, and Cs+) the measured IR-action spectra indicate that arginine is a zwitterion in these complexes. The measured spectrum for [Arg + Na]+ indicates that it exists predominantly as a salt bridge with zwitterionic Arg; however, a small contribution from a second conformer (most likely a charge-solvated conformer) is also observed. While the silver cation lies between Li+ and Na+ in metal-ligand bond distance, it binds as strongly or even more strongly to oxygen-containing and nitrogen-containing ligands than the smaller Li+. The measured IR-action spectrum of [Arg + Ag]+ clearly indicates only the existence of non-zwitterionic Arg, demonstrating the importance of binding energy in conformational selection. The conformational landscapes of the Arg-cation species have been extensively investigated using a combination of conformational searching and electronic structure theory calculations [MP2/6-311++G(2d,2p)//B3LYP/6-31+G(d,p)]. Computed conformations indicate that Ag+ is di-coordinated to Arg, with the Ag+ chelated by both the N-terminal nitrogen and Neta of the side chain but lacks the strong M+-carbonyl oxygen interaction that is present in the tri-coordinate Li+ and Na+ charge-solvation complexes. Experiment and theory show good agreement; for each ion species investigated, the global-minimum conformer provides a very good match to the measured IR-action spectrum.  相似文献
