Optical array‐based sensors are attractive candidates for the detection of various bio‐analytes due to their convenient fabrication and measurements. For array‐based sensors, multichannel arrays are more advantageous and used frequently in many electronic sensors. But most reported optically array based sensors are constructed on a single channel array. This difficulty is mainly instigated from the overlap in optical responses. In this report we have used nano‐graphene oxide (nGO) and suitable fluorophores as sensor elements to construct a multichannel sensor array for the detection of protein analytes. By using the optimized multichannel array we are able to detect different proteins and mixtures of proteins with 100 % classification accuracy at sub‐nanomolar concentration. This modified method expedites the sensing analysis as well as minimizes the use of both analyte and sensor elements in array‐based protein sensing. We have also used this system for the single channel array‐based sensing to compare the sensitivity and the efficacy of these two systems for other applications. This work demonstrated an intrinsic trade‐off associated with these two methods which may be necessary to balance for array‐based analyte detections.  相似文献

8-Hydroxyquinoline (HQ), 2-methyl-8-hydroxyquinoline (CH3-HQ), 5,7-dichloro-2-methyl-8-hydroxyquinoline (Cl2-CH3-HQ), 5,7-dibromo-8-hydroxyquinoline (Br2-HQ), 5-sulfo-7-iodo-8-hydroxyquinoline (ferron) and 5-sulfo-8-hydroxyquinoline (SO3H-HQ) were compared as chelating reagents for on-line sorption preconcentration of cobalt in a knotted reactor (KR) precoated with the reagent. The results obtained with the different HQ derivatives reveal those properties of the chelating reagent responsible for the processes taking place in the KR. The influence of hydrophobicity, acidity, stability of the cobalt chelate and type of substituents in the HQ ring system on the separate steps of the flow injection (FI) preconcentration procedure are discussed. According to the performance characteristics of the different HQ derivatives, the most important parameters for on-line preconcentration in a KR are the hydrophobicity of the reagent and the stability of the chelate complex with the analyte.  相似文献

In this study, we report the synthesis and characterization of three novel "push-pull" chromophores, in which multiple phenylenevinylene units are endcapped by ferrocene as donor units and malonate moieties as acceptor units. These chromophores have spectroscopic and electrochemical characteristics which consistently change according to the extension of the conjugated bridge, thus to the variation of the HOMO-LUMO band gap. The 1,3-dicarbonyl units, directly incorporated into the conjugated molecular structures, are able to coordinate Lewis acid-like cations, such as lanthanides, as confirmed by UV/Vis, (1)H NMR and cyclic voltammetry studies. The UV/Vis spectroscopic response upon complexation with Sc(3+) or Eu(3+) as the triflate salts is rather unselective and nonlinear in going from the least to the most π-extended chromophore. Binding studies in MeCN, analyzed via equilibrium-restricted factor analysis, give values between log K(a) = 1.21 and 3.07 and affirm a 1?:?1 stoichiometry of the host:guest complexes in all cases. On the other hand, cyclic voltammetry reveals a selectivity in the response to Sc(3+) coordination over Ln(3+) (Eu(3+), but also Lu(3+) and Er(3+) were tested) for the two shorter chromophores, whereas the ligand with the longest π-bridge is able to sense Er(3+) (ΔE(1/2) complexed/uncomplexed chromophore = 20 mV) selectively over the other lanthanides.  相似文献

New 5-chloro-8-hydroxyquinoline (CHQ)-substituted aza-18-crown-6 (4), diaza-18-crown-6 (1), diaza-21-crown-7 (2), and diaza-24-crown-8 (3) ligands, where CHQ was attached through the 7-position, and aza-18-crown-6 (11) and diaza-18-crown-6 (10) macrocycles, where CHQ was attached through the 2-position, were prepared. Thermodynamic quantities for complexation of these CHQ-substituted macrocycles with alkali, alkaline earth, and transition metal ions were determined in absolute methanol at 25.0 degrees C by calorimetric titration. Two isomers, 1 and 10, which are different only in the attachment positions of the CHQ to the parent macroring, exhibit remarkable differences in their affinities toward the metal ions. Compound 1 forms very stable complexes with Mg(2+), Ca(2+), Cu(2+), and Ni(2+) (log K = 6.82, 5.31, 10.1, and 11.4, respectively), but not with the alkali metal ions. Ligand 10 displays strong complexation with K(+) and Ba(2+) (log K = 6.61 and 12.2, respectively) but not with Mg(2+) or Cu(2+). The new macrocycles and their complexes have been characterized by means of UV-visible and (1)H NMR spectra and X-ray crystallography. New peaks in the UV spectrum of the Mg(2+)-1 complex could allow an analytical determination of Mg(2+) in very dilute solutions in the presence of other alkali and alkaline earth metal cations. (1)H NMR spectral and X-ray crystallographic studies indicate that ligand 10 forms a cryptate-like structure when coordinated with K(+) and Ba(2+), which induces an efficient overlap of the two hydroxyquinoline rings. Such overlapping forms a pseudo second macroring that results in a significant increase in both complex stability and cation selectivity.  相似文献

Molecular differentiation by supramolecular sensors is typically achieved through sensor arrays, relying on the pattern recognition responses of large panels of isolated sensing elements. Here we report a new one-pot systems chemistry approach to differential sensing in biological solutions. We constructed an adaptive network of three cross-assembling sensor elements with diverse analyte-binding and photophysical properties. This robust sensing approach exploits complex interconnected sensor-sensor and sensor-analyte equilibria, producing emergent supramolecular and photophysical responses unique to each analyte. We characterize the basic mechanisms by which an adaptive network responds to analytes. The inherently data-rich responses of an adaptive network discriminate among very closely related proteins and protein mixtures without relying on designed protein recognition elements. We show that a single adaptive sensing solution provides better analyte discrimination using fewer response observations than a sensor array built from the same components. We also show the network's ability to adapt and respond to changing biological solutions over time.  相似文献

Nitrate aqueous solutions, Mg(NO(3))(2), Ca(NO(3))(2), Sr(NO(3))(2), and Pb(NO(3))(2), are investigated using Raman spectroscopy and free energy profiles from molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Analysis of the in-plane deformation, symmetric stretch, and asymmetric stretch vibrational modes of the nitrate ions reveal perturbation caused by the metal cations and hydrating water molecules. Results show that Pb(2+) has a strong tendency to form contact ion pairs with nitrate relative to Sr(2+), Ca(2+), and Mg(2+), and contact ion pair formation decreases with decreasing cation size and increasing cation charge density: Pb(2+) > Sr(2+) > Ca(2+) > Mg(2+). In the case of Mg(2+), the Mg(2+)-OH(2) intermolecular modes indicate strong hydration by water molecules and no contact ion pairing with nitrate. Free energy profiles provide evidence for the experimentally observed trend and clarification between solvent-separated, solvent-shared, and contact ion pairs, particularly for Mg(2+) relative to other cations.  相似文献

In this Letter, MP2, DFT and CASSCF calculations were carried out to investigate proton transfer reactions of 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) and its one-water complex (8-HQ-H2O). Since the forward reactions from the normal form (N) to the tautomer form (T) in the ground state have a considerable barrier and the reverse processes nearly have no barrier, the tautomerization reactions from N to T proceed with little probability in the ground state of 8-HQ and 8-HQ-H2O. After photoexcitation, the excited-state proton transfer reactions proceed very easily for both 8-HQ and 8-HQ-H2O, which are mainly responsible for lack of fluorescence for 8-HQ in aqueous solution.  相似文献

By combining molecular imprinting and colloidal crystal templating, molecularly imprinted inverse‐opal photonic polymers (MIPPs) acting as sensing elements have been exploited to create sensor arrays for the first time. With this new strategy, abundant sensing elements with differential sensing abilities were easily accessible. Because of the unique hierarchical porous structure integrated in each sensing element, high sensitivity and selectivity, fast response and self‐reporting (label‐free) detection could be simultaneously achieved. All these fascinating features indicate that MIPPs are ideal sensing elements for creating sensor arrays. By integrating the individual sensing elements on a substrate, the formed array chip delivers better portability and high‐throughput capability. As a demonstration, six kinds of contaminants were selected as analytes. The detection and discrimination of these analytes and even their mixtures in a wide range of concentrations, particularly trace amounts of analyte against a high background of other components, could be achieved, indicating the powerful capability of MIPPs‐based sensor array for sensing. These results suggest that the described strategy opens a new route for sensor array creation and should find important applications in a wide range of areas.  相似文献

Ratiometric fluorescence-based sensors are widely sought after because they can effectively convert even relatively small changes in optical output into a strong and easy-to-read signal. However, ratiometric sensor molecules are usually difficult to make. We present a proof-of-principle experiment that shows that efficient ratiometric sensing may be achieved by an array of two chromophores, one providing an on-to-off response and the second yielding an off-to-on response in a complementary fashion. In the case that both chromophores emit light of different color, the result is a switching of colors that may be utilized in the same way as from a true ratiometric probe. The chromophore array comprises two sensor elements: i) a polyurethane membrane with embedded N-anthracen-9-yl-methyl-N-7-nitrobenzoxa-[1,2,5]diazo-4-yl-N',N'-dimethylethylenediamine hydrochloride and ii) a membrane with N,N-dimethyl-N'-(9-methylanthracenyl)ethylenediamine. A combination of photoinduced electron transfer (PET) and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) allows for green-to-blue emission switching in the presence of Zn(II) ions. The sensing experiments carried out with different Zn(II) salts at controlled pH revealed that the degree of color switching in the individual sensor elements depends on both the presence of Zn(II) ions and the counter anion. These results suggest that sensing of both cations and anions may perhaps be extended to different cation-anion pairs.  相似文献

Gliomas and glioblastomas are very aggressive forms of brain tumors, prone to the development of a multitude of resistance mechanisms to therapeutic treatments, including cytoprotective autophagy. In this work, we investigated the role and mechanism of action of the combination of a ruthenacarborane derivative with 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ), linked via an ester bond (complex 2), in rat astrocytoma C6 and human glioma U251 cells, in comparison with the two compounds alone, i.e., the free carboxylic acid (complex 1) and 8-HQ, and their non-covalent combination ([1 + 8-HQ], in 1:1 molar ratio). We found that only complex 2 was able to significantly affect cellular viability in glioma U251 cells (IC50 11.4 μM) via inhibition of the autophagic machinery, most likely acting at the early stages of the autophagic cascade. Contrary to 8-HQ alone, complex 2 was also able to impair cellular viability under conditions of glucose deprivation. We thus suggest different mechanisms of action of ruthenacarborane complex 2 than purely organic quinoline-based drugs, making complex 2 a very attractive candidate for evading the known resistances of brain tumors to chloroquine-based therapies.  相似文献

A microdisc sensor array, prepared by thin film technology, has been used as a model for miniaturized multi-functional biosensors. It consists of a series of wells, 20 microns in diameter, possessing a 1000 A Pt layer at the bottom that serves as the indicating electrode. The depth of the wells ranged from 2.3-24 microns, depending on the photoresist employed and the spinning speed used to coat the electrode interconnect grid. Ten such wells were arranged in a circular array within an area of radius 130 microns. The center to center distance between any two of the discs ranged from 30 to 155 microns. Each disc is connected by a conductive film line to corresponding pads on the side of the sensor chip. A cylinder placed on top of the chip array formed the electrochemical cell into which a common reference and counter electrode were placed. The reference electrode was operated at ground potential. Prior to the evaluation of enzyme sensors, an assessment of "chemical cross-talk", the perturbation of sensor response resulting from the overlap of proximal diffusion layers, was made using Fe(CN)6(4-). The preliminary conclusion is that the sensing elements probably must be separated by about 100 microns in order to avoid interference from adjacent sensors. A technique was developed for the precision delivery of enzyme and cross-linking agent to the 2.3 microns cavity, having a capacity of 4 pL. This procedure makes possible the preparation of sensor arrays capable of detecting different analytes by employing different enzymes. The sensors gave reasonably rapid (2-4 s) response with linearity (up to about 10 mM. However, the sensors in the center of the array clearly showed the effects of depletion of substrates by the surrounding sensors.  相似文献

A series of four novel 8-hydroxyquinoline-substituted boron-dipyrromethene derivatives, namely 4,4-difluoro-8-(5-(8-hydroxyquinoline))-3,5-dimethyl-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene (1), 4,4-difluoro-8-(5-(8-hydroxyquinoline))-1,3,5,7-tetramethyl-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene (2), 4,4-difluoro-8-(5-azastyryl-(8-hydroxyquinoline))-3,5-dimethyl-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene (3), and 4,4-difluoro-8-(5-azastyryl-(8-hydroxyquinoline))-1,3,5,7-tetramethyl-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene (4), have been synthesized and characterized by a series of spectroscopic methods. The molecular structures of 1 and 2 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. The two methyl substituents attached at C-1 and C-7 positions of boron-dipyrromethene (Bodipy) in compound 2 was revealed to prevent the free rotation of the 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) moiety, resulting in an almost vertical 8-HQ-Bodipy configuration of this compound. This is obviously different from those for 1 with the dihedral angle between 8-hydroxyquinoline and Bodipy moieties of 65.44 and 66.79° due to the lack of methyl substituents in the latter compound. The intense fluorescence from the Bodipy subunit of these compounds was revealed to gradually get diminished along with either decreasing or increasing the pH value under acidic and basic conditions, respectively, in particular for 1, 2, and 4 because of the photoinduced intramolecular electron transfer from excited Bodipy moiety to 8-HQ unit and just an opposite process. This renders these compounds the first OFF-ON-OFF type of pH-dependent fluorescent sensors. Nevertheless, both the intrinsic fluorescence of these compounds and their fluorescent quenching properties along with the change in the pH value have been found to depend on the steric configuration as well as the linking group between 8-hydroxyquinoline and Bodipy moieties, revealing the effect of molecular structure on their fluorescence properties.  相似文献

In this paper automatic sensor identification of sensor classes within a high-density randomized array, without a priori knowledge of sensor locations, is demonstrated. Two different fluorescence-based sensor types, with hundreds of replicates each, were randomly distributed into an optical imaging fiber array platform. The sensor element types were vapor-sensitive microspheres with the environmentally-sensitive fluorescent dye Nile Red adsorbed on their surface. Nile Red undergoes spectral changes when exposed to different microenvironmental polarity conditions, e.g. microsphere surface polarity or odor exposure. These reproducible sensor spectral changes, or sensor-response profiles, enable sensors within a randomized array to be grouped into categories by optical decoding methods. Two computational decoding methods (supervised and unsupervised) are introduced; equal classification rates were achieved for both. By comparing sensor responses from a randomized array with those obtained from known (control) arrays, 587 sensors were correctly classified with 99.32% accuracy. Although both methods were equally effective, the unsupervised method, which uses sensor response changes to odor exposure, is a better decoding model for the vapor-sensitive arrays studied, because it relies only on the odor-response profiles. Another decoding technique employed the emission spectra of the sensors and is more applicable to other types of multiplexed fluorescence-based arrays and assays. The sensor-decoding techniques are compared to demonstrate that sensors within high-density optical chemosensor arrays can be positionally-registered, or decoded, with no additional overhead in time or expense other than collecting the sensor-response profiles.  相似文献

Ribonucleic acid (RNA) is used as a novel ionophore in plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) matrix membrane sensors for some transition metal ions. Membranes incorporating RNA and doped in Cu(2+), Cd(2+) and Fe(2+) display fast near-Nernstian and stable responses for these ions with cationic slopes of 31.1, 31.3 and 35.5 mV per decade, respectively, over the concentration range 10(-6)-10(-2) M and pH range 4-6.5. The cadmium RNA-based sensor shows no interference by Cu(2+), Fe(2+) Hg(2+) and Ag(+), which are known to interfere significantly with the solid-state CdS/Ag(2)S membrane electrode. The copper RNA-based sensor displays general potentiometric characteristics similar to those based on macrocyclic ionophores and organic ion exchangers and has the advantage of a better selectivity for Cu(2+) over some alkaline earth, divalent and transition metal ions. The iron RNA-based membrane sensor exhibits no interference by Hg(2+) and Zn(2+), which are known to interfere with other previously suggested sensors. The nature and composition of the RNA ionophore and its cadmium complex are examined using electrophoresis, Fourier-transform infrared analysis, elemental analysis and X-ray fluorescence techniques.  相似文献

Gas sensor arrays often lack discrimination power to different analytes and robustness to interferants, limiting their success outside of research laboratories. This is primarily due to the widely sensitive (thus weakly-selective) nature of the constituent sensors. Here, the effect of orthogonality on array accuracy and precision by selective sensor design is investigated. Therefore, arrays of (2–5) selective and non-selective sensors are formed by systematically altering array size and composition. Their performance is evaluated with 60 random combinations of ammonia, acetone and ethanol at ppb to low ppm concentrations. Best analyte predictions with high coefficients of determination (R2) of 0.96 for ammonia, 0.99 for acetone and 0.88 for ethanol are obtained with an array featuring high degree of orthogonality. This is achieved by using distinctly selective sensors (Si:MoO3 for ammonia and Si:WO3 for acetone together with Si:SnO2) that improve discrimination power and stability of the regression coefficients. On the other hand, arrays with collinear sensors (Pd:SnO2, Pt:SnO2 and Si:SnO2) hardly improve gas predictions having R2 of 0.01, 0.86 and 0.28 for ammonia, acetone and ethanol, respectively. Sometimes they even exhibited lower coefficient of determination than single sensors as a Si:MoO3 sensor alone predicts ammonia better with a R2 of 0.68.
Graphical abstract Conventional arrays (red) with weakly-selective sensors span a significantly smaller volume in the analyte space than arrays containing distinctly-selective sensors (orthogonal array, green). Orthogonal arrays feature better accuracy and precision than conventional arrays in mixtures of ammonia, acetone and ethanol.

A series of dendritic 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) and 5-dialkyl(aryl)aminomethyl-8-HQ derivatives were synthesized and their fluoroionophoric properties toward representative alkali, alkaline earth, group IIIA and transition metal ions were investigated. Among the selected ions, Zn(II) enhanced the fluorescence of N-di-(methoxycarbonylethyl)aminoethyl-3-[4-(8-hydroxyquinolin-5-ylmethyl)piperazin-1-yl]-propanoic amide] (7) by 31-fold, while Al(III) caused enhancement to some extent. The absence of any significant fluorescence enhancement by the other ions examined renders 7a highly useful Zn(II)-selective fluorescent sensor.  相似文献

The structures of protonated pentazole cations (RN5H+), oxygen-containing anions such as N(NO2)2-, NO3-, and ClO4- and the corresponding ion pairs are investigated by ab initio quantum chemistry calculations. The stability of the pentazole cation is explored by examining the decomposition pathways of several monosubstituted cations (RN5H+) to yield N2 and the corresponding azidinium cation. The heats of formation of these cations, which are based on isodesmic (bond-type conserving) reactions, are calculated. The proton-transfer reaction from the cation to the anion is investigated.  相似文献

In recent years, the sensor array has attracted much attention in the field of complex system analysis on the basis of its good selectivity and easy operation. Many optical colorimetric sensor arrays are designed to analyze multi-target analytes due to the good sensitivity of optical signal. In this review, we introduce the targeting analytes, sensing mechanisms and data processing methods of the optical colorimetric sensor array based on optical probes (including organic molecular probes, polymer materials and nanomaterials). The research progress in the detection of metal ions, anions, toxic gases, organic compounds, biomolecules and living organisms (such as DNA, amino acids, proteins, microbes and cells) and actual sample mixtures are summarized here. The review illustrates the types, application advantages and development prospects of the optical colorimetric sensor array to help broad readers to understand the research progress in the application of chemical sensor array.  相似文献

Separations of metal cations on a column packed with the strongly acidic cation exchanger Separon SGX CX were investigated in the presence of alpha-hydroxyisobutyric acid (HIBA) in the mobile phase. A retention model based on the general theory of side equilibria was elaborated and relations describing dependences of capacity factors of analytes on the compositon of the mobile phase were derived. Effects of HIBA concentration and pH of the mobile phase on the analyte retention were studied in detail. Stability constants of divalent metal cations (Cd(2+), Co(2+), Mn(2+), Ni(2+) and Zn(2+)) with HIBA were calculated from the experimental dependences of the reciprocal values of capacity factors on the ligand concentration.  相似文献
