A new technique for optical correlation using gated holographic recording is demonstrated. Several persistent holograms are localized within separate slices as close as 33 microm apart along the crystal. Individual holograms can be dynamically erased and rerecorded with no need to refresh all other recorded holograms. Experimental results showing the correlation capability, cross talk, shift invariance, and dynamicity of the localized holographic correlator demonstrate unique performance and capabilities for these correlators.  相似文献

The cross talk between holograms recorded in a phase-code multiplexing system is analyzed. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is derived for the original image of a finite contrast ratio in the presence of a phase-shift error of the reference beam. It is shown that one particular code in the Walsh-Hadamard code set can be the dominant cross-talk noise source. We experimentally measured the SNR of the holograms recorded in an 8-bit phase-code multiplexing system by varying the contrast ratio of the original image. We show good agreement between experiment and theory. The existence of one bad code is also shown experimentally.  相似文献

We describe a technique for a phase-stepping interferometer based on programmable binary phase holograms, particularly useful for optical testing of aspheric or free-form surfaces. It is well-known that binary holograms can be used to generate reference surfaces for interferometry, but a major problem is that cross talk from higher diffraction orders and aliasing can reduce the fidelity of the system. Here, we propose a new encoding technique which improves the accuracy of the technique and demonstrate its implementation using a binary liquid crystal spatial light modulator.  相似文献

A novel hybrid shift multiplexing method for collinear holographic data storage (CHDS) by using orthogonal reference patterns (RPs) is proposed, analyzed, and demonstrated. For this method, holograms are multiplexed by not only shifting the media but also using different RPs. Compared with the traditional method, the shift pitch for the hybrid method is substantially reduced because of the selectivity introduced by different RPs. The interpage cross talk due to Bragg mismatch and degeneracy for multiplexing holograms in the same volume by using orthogonal RPs is also attenuated by utilizing the shift selectivity of the hologram. A 1.5 μm shift pitch is experimentally achieved by using three amplitude RPs in a system that would be 4.5 μm with only one RP. This new method offers an alternative to significantly increase the data density and transfer rate of the CHDS system given that the media has ideal properties.  相似文献

We propose a very simple optical method to reduce the cross talk among the channels of a mode group diversity multiplexing (MGDM) link. MGDM is an intensity modulation, direct detection, multiple-input, multiple-output technique that creates independent communication channels over a multimode fiber (MMF). The cross talk among the channels is mitigated electronically. However, by properly employing a lens between the output of a graded-index MMF and the detectors, we achieve mode-selective spatial filtering (MSSF) and optically reduce the cross talk. The robustness of the link is then increased when compared with an implementation without MSSF. This allows for a larger number of channels.  相似文献

Waveguide holograms are recorded in a storage material layer covering a planar dielectric waveguide with a guided mode as reference wave. They are also read-out with a guided mode. In the storage material, assumed to have a lower refractive index than the waveguiding film, the fields of the reference and of the read-out wave are evanescent waves. We describe the preparation of the epoxy resin (Araldit) waveguides on glass substrates, their coating with a dichromated gelatin (DCG) layer as storage material, the processing of the DCG, and the recording and reconstruction techniques. Waveguide holograms of good quality with a size of several square centimeters have been realized for the first time. The holograms were recorded and read-out with wavelength λ=488 nm. They have a length of about 25 mm and a width of 17 mm. To obtain holograms that wide a special prism coupler had to be used which allowed to couple in a laser beam of elliptical cross section, and thus to excite a guided reference or read-out mode with a width of 17 mm.  相似文献

为了减小光纤菲佐传感器间的串扰,提高传感器网络的复用能力,提出了基于Pisarenko正弦波恢复法的光纤菲佐应变传感器频分复用网络光谱解调方案。在多光束干涉原理的基础上,建立了基于Pisarenko正弦波恢复方法的传感器频分复用解调模型,并对2个光纤菲佐传感器的串扰进行了实验研究。快速傅里叶变换能够达到应变精度好于±10με的传感器间最小腔长差约为500μm,而该方法可以把最小腔长差缩短至100μm左右。这意味着系统的复用能力提高了大约5倍。因此,该方法是一种串扰小、复用能力强的解调方法,在大容量准分布式传感网络中具有极大的潜在应用价值。  相似文献

On the basis of a previously derived mathematical model, the power penalty associated with a nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) demultiplexer was calculated, with timing jitter noise, bit-to-bit cross talk, and channel cross talk taken into consideration. Simulation results show that a 3-dBm improvement in the receiver sensitivity at a bit error rate of 10(-9) can be achieved by choice of the appropriate walk-off time between the control and the signal pulses within the NOLM demultiplexer.  相似文献

Three-dimensional holographic images of extended diffusing objects are simultaneously recorded and reconstructed by optical cross correlation in a second-order nonlinear crystal. An interaction geometry in which the phase-matched object and reference fields propagate slightly noncollinearly is particularly convenient for producing these second-harmonic-generated holograms.  相似文献

We propose a new mechanism for constructing waveguide intersections with broad bandwidth and low cross talk in photonic crystal (PC) circuits. The intersections are created by combination of coupled-cavity wave-guides (CCWs) with conventional line-defect waveguides. This mechanism utilizes the strong dependence of the defect coupling on the field pattern in the defects and the alignment of the defects (i.e., the coupling angle) in CCWs. By properly designing the defect mode, we demonstrate through numerical simulation the establishment of such a waveguide intersection in one of the most useful PCs, which is based on a two-dimensional triangular lattice of air holes made in a dielectric material. The transmission of a 500-fs pulse at ~1.3 microm is simulated by use of the finite-difference time-domain method, showing negligible distortion and low cross talk.  相似文献

A novel class of microstructured optical fiber coupler is introduced that operates by resonant, rather than proximity, energy transfer by means of transverse light guides built into a fiber cross section. Such a design permits significant spatial separation between interacting fibers, which, in turn, eliminates intercore cross talk owing to proximity coupling. A controllable energy transfer between the cores is then achieved by localized and highly directional transmission through a transverse light guide. The main advantage of this coupling scheme is its inherent scalability, as one can integrate additional fiber cores into the existing fiber cross section simply by placing the cores far enough from the existing optical circuitry to prevent proximity cross talk and then making the necessary intercore connections with transverse light wires, in direct analogy with on-chip electronics integration.  相似文献

波分复用/解复用器件在光纤通信中具有重要的应用。设计了一种自由空间的微闪耀光栅解复用器,通过对其衍射光场的复振幅分布的研究,得到了满足1级闪耀输出的光栅方程,实现了复合波长信号光在空间上的解复用。通过对微闪耀光栅解复用器的衍射效率和串扰进行分析后表明,微闪耀光栅解复用器具有很高的衍射效率,信号间串扰非常小,而且元件尺寸小,结构紧凑,集成度高,在光通信和光信息处理中具有一定的应用价值。  相似文献

A multi-plane adaptive-additive algorithm is developed for optimizing computer-generated holograms for the reconstruction of traps in three-dimensional(3D) spaces.This algorithm overcomes the converging stagnation problem of the traditional multi-plane Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm and improves the diffraction efficiency of the holograms effectively.The optimized holograms are applied in a holographic optical tweezers(HOT) platform.Additionally,a computer program is developed and integrated into the HOT platform for the purpose of achieving the interactive control of traps.Experiments demonstrate that the manipulation of micro-particles into the 3D structure with optimized holograms can be carried out effectively on the HOT platform.  相似文献

We present cross-talk calculations for a subdiffraction nanophotonic waveguide that consists of a colloidal quantum dot (QD) array 10 nm in diameter and compare the results with conventional continuous dielectric waveguides, assuming the same 10 nm size as well as a 200 nm cutoff diameter for guided mode. We find that the QD cascade has much lower cross talk than 10 nm dielectric waveguides at an identical separation >30 nm. Moreover, results for 200 nm dielectric waveguides at a 280 nm gap are comparable with those of QD structures spaced 110 nm apart. Hence the proposed QD device is potentially superior to conventional waveguides in achieving lower cross talk in the subdiffraction regime and provides a new route to achieving high-density photonic integrated circuits.  相似文献

Comparison of two illumination modes for wide-field optical coherence tomography has revealed that spatially coherent illumination generates coherent cross talk, causing significant image degradation, and that spatially incoherent illumination, with an adequate interferometer design, provides an efficient mechanism for suppression of coherent cross talk. This is shown by comparison of a pulsed laser with a thermal light source for a U.S. Air Force resolution target covered with a scattering solution made from microbeads as well as for an ex vivo tooth.  相似文献

We present compact crossings for silicon-on-insulator photonic wires. The waveguides are broadened using a 3 microm parabolic taper in each arm. By locally applying a lower index contrast using a double-etch technique, loss of confinement is reduced and 97.5% transmission (-1.7 dB) is achieved with only -40 dB cross talk.  相似文献

Fresnel incoherent correlation holography(FINCH) is a well-established incoherent imaging technique. In FINCH, three selfinterference holograms are recorded with calculated phase differences between the two interfering, differently modulated object waves and projected into a complex hologram. The object is reconstructed without the twin image and bias terms by a numerical Fresnel back propagation of the complex hologram. A modified approach to implement FINCH by a single camera shot by pre-calibrating the system involving recording of the point spread function library and reconstruction by a nonlinear cross correlation has been introduced recently. The expression of the imaging characteristics from the modulation functions in original FINCH and the modified approach by pre-calibration in spatial and polarization multiplexing schemes are reviewed. The study reveals that a reconstructing function completely independent of the function of the phase mask is required for the faithful expression of the characteristics of the modulating function in image reconstruction. In the polarization multiplexing method by non-linear cross correlation, a partial expression was observed, while in the spatial multiplexing method by non-linear cross correlation, the imaging characteristics converged towards a uniform behavior.  相似文献

A comparison was established between two iterative Fourier transform algorithms (IFTAs), such as the original Gerchberg–Saxton (GS) and the mixed-region amplitude freedom (MRAF) algorithms, for the hologram reconstruction of different target images through the full reference image quality estimation (IQE) and pixel homogeneity in the Fourier plane presented theoretically and experimentally. The comparison was applied depending upon both algorithms based on a computer-generated hologram (CGH) implemented utilizing a reflective phase-modulated liquid-crystal spatial light modulator (LC-SLM) to obtain the digital kinoform holograms of the desired intensity distributions. These digital holograms were applied to reconstruct the intensity patterns for 852 nm, which represents a laser beam source. The theoretical and experimental results of the reconstructed patterns obtained using the MRAF algorithm were found to be smoother and better than the patterns obtained using the GS algorithm. Unmodulated light beam (dc term) is removed from the reconstructed patterns attributed to digital kinoform holograms of MRAF algorithm as an alternative to the theoretical and experimental results without using any additional optic equipment at the light path. Moreover, this paper discussed the full reference objective quality estimations, such as mean square error (MSE), peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), structural content (SC), normalized absolute error (NAE), normalized cross correlation (NK), and homogeneity of pixels, through the contrast (Cont) and inverse difference moment (IDM) for numerical and experimental results. According to the two desired intensity distributions processed theoretically and experimentally, the results of MRAF algorithm were found to be in the highly accurate recovered phase, the quality of image was enhanced, and the dc term was decreased. Image quality estimation of full reference objective relay on the feedback algorithms experimental attestation has not been implemented yet.  相似文献
