Every quasi-lower semi-continuous (q.l.s.c.) mapping admits a lower semi-continuous (l.s.c.) selection preserving all important (from the selection point of view) properties of the former mapping. Special-type extensions of l.s.c. mappings are established on this base.  相似文献

We show selection theorems for set-valued mappings with finite-dimensional convex values, one of which is a partial extension of a selection theorem due to S. Barov (2008) [1].  相似文献

We prove that Michael?s paraconvex-valued selection theorem for paracompact spaces remains true for C(E)-valued mappings defined on collectionwise normal spaces. Some possible generalisations are also given.  相似文献

Principal result: Suppose Y is metrizable. Then: (a) if X is metrizable and AX is closed, then every continuous g:AY extends to an l.s.c. ψ:XK(Y); (b) Y satisfies (a) for all paracompact X if and only if Y is completely metrizable.  相似文献

Summary In this note we establish conditions under which every midconvex set-valued function can be represented as sum of an additive function and a convex set-valued function. These results improve some theorems obtained in [8], [10] and [3]. Some results on local Jensen selections of midconvex set-valued functions are also given.  相似文献

Every open continuous mappingf from a metric space (X, d) onto a countable-dimensional metric spaceY admits a special type of factorization (Y×[0, 1] throughout), provided all fibers off are dense in itself and complete with respect tod. On this basis, an upper semi-continuous Cantor bouquet of disjoint usco selections for a class of 1.s.c. mappings between metrizable spaces is constructed.  相似文献

A set-valued dynamical systemF on a Borel spaceX induces a set-valued operatorF onM(X) — the set of probability measures onX. We define arepresentation ofF, each of which induces an explicitly defined selection ofF; and use this to extend the notions of invariant measure and Frobenius-Perron operators to set-valued maps. We also extend a method ofS. Ulam to Markov finite approximations of invariant measures to the set-valued case and show how this leads to the approximation ofT-invariant measures for transformations , whereT corresponds to the closure of the graph of .  相似文献

Summary The concept of hull convexity (midpoint hull convexity) for set-valued functions in vector spaces is examined. This concept, introduced by A. V. Fiacco and J. Kyparisis (Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications,43 (1986), 95–126), is weaker than one of convexity (midpoint convexity). The main result is a sufficient condition for a midpoint hull convex set-valued function to be continuous. This theorem improves a result obtained by K. Nikodem (Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Mathematics,34 (1986), 393–399).  相似文献

A pair 〈B,K〉 is a Namioka pair if K is compact and for any separately continuous , there is a dense AB such that f is ( jointly) continuous on A×K. We give an example of a Choquet space B and separately continuous such that the restriction fΔ| to the diagonal does not have a dense set of continuity points. However, for K a compact fragmentable space we have: For any separately continuous and for any Baire subspace F of T×K, the set of points of continuity of is dense in F. We say that 〈B,K〉 is a weak-Namioka pair if K is compact and for any separately continuous and a closed subset F projecting irreducibly onto B, the set of points of continuity of fF| is dense in F. We show that T is a Baire space if the pair 〈T,K〉 is a weak-Namioka pair for every compact K. Under (CH) there is an example of a space B such that 〈B,K〉 is a Namioka pair for every compact K but there is a countably compact C and a separately continuous which has no dense set of continuity points; in fact, f does not even have the Baire property.  相似文献

We give results about the dimension of continua, obtained by combining inverse limits of inverse sequences of metric spaces and one-valued bonding maps with inverse limits of inverse sequences of metric spaces and upper semicontinuous set-valued bonding functions, by standard procedure introduced in [I. Bani?, Continua with kernels, Houston J. Math. (2006), in press].  相似文献

A weak selection on an infinite set X   is a function σ:[X]2→Xσ:[X]2X such that σ({x,y})∈{x,y}σ({x,y}){x,y} for each {x,y}∈[X]2{x,y}[X]2. A weak selection on a space is said to be continuous if it is a continuous function with respect to the Vietoris topology on [X]2[X]2 and the topology on X  . We study some topological consequences from the existence of a continuous weak selection on the product X×YX×Y for the following particular cases:

Both X and Y are spaces with one non-isolated point.  相似文献

We prove that the following statements are equivalent for a space X: (1) X is monotonically countably paracompact; (2) for every metric space Y there exists an operator Φ assigning to each locally bounded mapping , a locally bounded l.s.c. mapping with ?Φ(?) such that Φ(?)⊂Φ(?) whenever ??, where B(Y) is the set of all non-empty closed bounded sets of Y; (3) for every metric space Y, there exist operators Φ and Ψ assigning to each u.s.c. mapping , an l.s.c. mapping and a u.s.c. mapping with ?Φ(?)⊂Ψ(?) such that Φ(?)⊂Φ(?) and Ψ(?)⊂Ψ(?) whenever ??.  相似文献

Let Cα(X,Y) be the set of all continuous functions from X to Y endowed with the set-open topology where α is a hereditarily closed, compact network on X which is closed under finite unions. We proved that the density of the space Cα(X,Y) is at most iw(X)⋅d(Y) where iw(X) denotes the i-weight of the Tychonoff space X, and d(Y) denotes the density of the space Y when Y is an equiconnected space with equiconnecting function Ψ, and Y has a base consists of Ψ-convex subsets of Y. We also prove that the equiconnectedness of the space Y cannot be replaced with pathwise connectedness of Y. In fact, it is shown that for each infinite cardinal κ, there is a pathwise connected space Y such that π-weight of Y is κ, but Souslin number of the space Ck([0,1],Y) is κ2.  相似文献

If a discrete subset S of a topological group G with the identity 1 generates a dense subgroup of G and S∪{1} is closed in G, then S is called a suitable set for G. We apply Michael's selection theorem to offer a direct, self-contained, purely topological proof of the result of Hofmann and Morris [K.-H. Hofmann, S.A. Morris, Weight and c, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 68 (1-2) (1990) 181-194] on the existence of suitable sets in locally compact groups. Our approach uses only elementary facts from (topological) group theory.  相似文献

The concept of equi-outer semicontinuity allows us to relate the pointwise and the graphical convergence of set-valued-mappings. One of the main results is a compactness criterion that extends the classical Arzelà-Ascolì theorem for continuous functions to this new setting; it also leads to the exploration of the notion of continuous convergence. Equi-lower semicontinuity of functions is related to the outer semicontinuity of epigraphical mappings. Finally, some examples involving set-valued mappings are re-examined in terms of the concepts introduced here.Research supported in part by a grant of the National Science Foundation.  相似文献

A random polytopeP n in a convex bodyC is the convex hull ofn identically and independently distributed points inC. Its expectation is a convex body in the interior ofC. We study the deviation of the expectation ofP n fromC asn→∞: while forC of classC k+1,k≥1, precise asymptotic expansions for the deviation exist, the behaviour of the deviation is extremely irregular for most convex bodiesC of classC 1. It is shown that a completely regular space X is sieve-complete (or, equivalenty, X is the open image of a paracompact ?ech-complete space) iff βX?X is compact-like, i.e., Player I has a winning strategy in the topological game G(C, βX?X) of [13].  相似文献

Summary A set-valued functionF from a coneC with a cone-basis of a topological vector spaceX into the family of all non-empty compact convex subsets of a locally convex spaceY is called superadditive provided thatF(x) + F(y) F(x + y), for allx, y C. We show that every superadditive set-valued function admits an additive selection.Dedicated to Professor Otto Haupt on his 100th birthday  相似文献

We characterize strong paracompactness in terms of usco multi-selections for closed-valued lower semi-continuous mappings into completely metrizable spaces, thus generalizing recent results obtained by Choban, Mihaylova and Nedev [M. Choban, E. Mihaylova, S. Nedev, On selections and classes of spaces, Topology Appl. 155 (2008) 797-804]. Related results and applications are achieved as well.  相似文献
